Hello, I've encountered a problem with my 2003 infiniti qx4 4WD, it does not rev up to 6000rpm again when I kick my foot down on the throttle and also doesn't accelerate properly. Please what might be the possible cause and how do I fix it?

Car TalkRe: Funny Names Nigerians Give Cars by king406(m): 4:35pm On Sep 22, 2014
Please the hausas didn't call that accord 'alla' they called it 'halla'
Dolcilicious: Cars are amazing technological feats that litter our roads round the world today. Every passing year witnesses the debut of a new model or some incredible modification on an existing model. But I’m not here to examine car models or talk about which is the newest innovation.
I’m here to talk about the funny names Nigerians give these cars!
It’s amazing how some cars that have become popular end up getting nicknames which are usually as a result of situations surrounding them or their looks.
I took some time to gather as much as I could on the famous car models that were notorious for one thing or the other way back then and presently today.

The Honda series are usually very notorious for getting names.

‘Pure Water’
Honda Accord 1986
This dude became the people’s favorite among regular sedans in Nigeria. Each time someone thought of buying a car, this Honda was not far off from the consideration list. It became so common that Nigerians nicknamed it ‘Pure Water’ because sachet water was the most accessible commodity anywhere

‘Alla’
Honda Accord 1990
This was another favorite that continued where the 86’ model had left off. It was a heavy amongst the Hausas of northern Nigeria who were obsessed with it. This is how it came to be nicknamed ‘Alla’ because its supposedly said that when a Hausa man boasted about his Honda, he would go; ‘Na my Honda, Allah!’

‘Bulldog’
Honda Accord 1995
This ride gained its nickname because of the way its back was shaped and the way it sat on the ground – like a bulldog.

‘Baby boy’
Honda Accord 1998
The circumstances surrounding this car’s nickname is quite funny. The car sort of became popular after it was spotted in John Singleton’s film titled ‘Baby boy’ which starred Tyrese Gibson in the lead role. Tyrese is seen cruising this Honda with cute alloys in many scenes in the movie.

‘End of Discussion’
Honda Accord 2003
It was the tagline of its Ad that made this car popular as well as its Iv-Tec engine. The Ad simply said – ‘The New Honda Accord. End of Discussion.’ People loved this ride and it caught on like wildfire. However, the nickname ‘Iv-Tech’ later took over the former.

'Anaconda/Evil Spirit'
Honda Accord 2009
When this Honda came out last year, people were alarmed because it had one heck of a scary look when you first came across it, and it was BIG compared to its past models. It got its nickname from the look of its healamps which look as menacing as the notorious Anaconda snake of the amazon jungle. The evil look of the headlamps also gained it a second nickname of ‘Evil Spirit’.

'Orobo'
Toyota Camry 1992
This Toyota Camry probably marked the beginning of the ‘fattening up’ of the Camry range. Its longness and rotundness earned it the nickname ‘Orobo’ which is a Yoruba/pidgin lingo for ‘
Fatso’.
'Millenium'
Toyota Camry 1998
Suddenly Toyota must have thought it was time to slim down and introduced a slimmer model that became popular in Nigeria till today. The problem is, it didn’t have any distinctive nickname. The only name I ever gathered it was called was ‘Millenium’ because it came out in the year 2000; when we entered the millennium.

'Big for nothing'
Toyota Camry 2004
The name probably came as a disdain registered by Nigerians at Toyota’s sudden decision to ‘fatten’ up the Camry again. This time it was so big and bogus that it was nobody seemed to see any use for its bigness.

'Muscle'
Toyota Camry 2007
This car turned out to be a correction over the ‘Big for nothing’ because now all the bigness was put to good use; the car had curves that accentuated its beauty and gave it a distinct look; curves people referred to as ‘muscles’. Nigerians couldn’t resist calling this beauty the ‘Toyota Muscle’.

'Beast'
Mercedes Benz 600 1995
This car was a huge monster that came out before most asian cars got into the bigness parade. It was never regarded as a regular car and was seen to eat up space. It was so massive and ugly it became rare and Nigerians just called it ‘the beast’.

'V Boot/ V Nyansh'
Mercedes Benz 300 1990
This ride caught Naija by storm. Nigerians fell head over heels in love with it. It was majestic and a beaut in its time. The design at that time was unique and its nickname, ‘V boot’, was derived from the unique shape of its boot which was later made sexy with the pidgin term ‘V Nyansh’.

COJA
BMW 325i 2001
Not all Beamers got nicknamed in their time, and not all their nicknames stayed as long as other cars. But for this model of BMW, the story is different. It was nicknamed ‘COJA’ after it was purchased for ministers and delegates at the COJA games in Abuja in 2003. The car was the official car of the event and became popular as a result back them. Today, the name has however faded.

What other names were given to cars you know? smiley
Let the fun begin!
Car TalkRe: Honda Crv 2008/2009 Vs Toyota Highlander 2006/2007 Vs Camry Xle 2008/2009 by king406(m): 3:08pm On Sep 19, 2014
Honda can't provide your needs as a daily car user for 3-4years, I suggest u go for the toyota highlander. Its durable, rugged, and looks masculine. I've not heard of any issues or complains about the highlander, the engine and gearbox are both awesome, and so are the shocks. U get to choose between a 2.7liter engine which has a better fuel economy but less power n speed, and a 3.5liter v6 which has almost 100bhp more than the 2.7liter, moves faster, smoother ride but consumes for fuel. So its ur choice sir.. The camry is also good but u didn't state ur location, so if u are living in a place like lagos u would really need a car with great ground clearance, but If u are living in a place like abuja u should go for the camry. And personally I would choose toyota against honda anytime, any place and any day.

Car TalkRe: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by king406(m): 6:24pm On Sep 13, 2014
HeLlo, I own a 2003 infiniti qx4 4wd 3.5 V6, I need a few maintenance tips from you please, I use the car to travel to kaduna from abuja and back every week, I go at my normal speed at 160-170kmph with air con and I've noticed that its consuming a lot of fuel now, I normally fill up the tank every friday before I hit the road and the fuel guage indicates that I still have over a half tank left in the tank when I arrive at kaduna, but now it shows that I have less than half tank since it started consuming more fuel, so pls hw do I tackle this or what might me the cause? secondly, when is the right time to change the timing belt/chain, the car has 120,000km now and where do I get the timing chain/belt and how do I know if it is the right one for the car?? Lastly, how do I know if I should change the transmission fluid and service it, the car seems to find it difficult before it enters 4th gear. Thanks

Car TalkRe: Reliable & Fuel Efficient Mid-size Suv/crossover by king406(m): 4:02pm On Sep 04, 2014
When it comes to mid size suv's in Nigeria its definately the toyota highlander, which has 4cyl and v6 engine choice, rugged, fast, good fuel economy, low maintenance cost, and a good resale value. U should really check out the highlander, either the first generation or the second generation. They're all good. Cheers

After that download the bold 6 latest os which is 7.1 from ur network site, it could be mtn, etisalat glo or airtel if Nigerian network don't have the os7.1 u can download from another country like us or UK or even south Africa. this is emeka, abuja people gave it the name because of thE high level of igbo people that are buying it

lomomike: Bro no offence, but you know nothing about Toyotas.
its not that I don't know, but know that the camry I drove had 180kmph, and I thought the big for nothing started 2006, but the camry before big for nothing aka emeka grin was on production up till 2005, so I was confused and maybe the camry I drove had a speedometer replacement, u knw what 9ja mechanics can do. Happy friday

lomomike: Toyota camry 2005 Got
220km/h i4 240km/ V6 and both engines will chew a corolla except in corners where the big body heavy mass, serious front and rear over hangs and floaty feel will be a let down for the camry.
oga sir I'm not sayin the corolla is faster oh, hw can corolla be faster, all am saying is the camry I drove had 180kmph and 110mph on the dash

abatically: Very funny. Where did u see a 2005 Camry v6 with 180km/hr as max speed? Even an i4 corolla has up to 220km/hr. Are u sure u are not misquoting MPH as km/hr?
my oga are u sure u are in nigeria?? A 2005 corolla and a 2005 camry both have 180kmph and 110mph on their speedometer. Or should I post pictures?

expert101: Dude am not sure you know what you are talking? What is the make of the car you drive now?

2005 Lexus RX 330 Produces a 230hp- 3.3L -You have never driven that car to feel how smart and sharp the movement is... it takes a good driver to beat a 240hp machine not what is written on the engine.

By the way which good road in Nigeria do you have to utilize all the horse power in your car except you want to kill yourself.
2003 infiniti qx4 3.5liter DOHC V6 240bhp.. Abuja to kaduna expressway and abuja highways during the night will do.

Let's just say that gas mileage suffered greatly.

Car TalkRe: Fastest Speed You Have Ever Driven: Car, Place, Time? by king406(m): 5:35pm On Aug 28, 2014
abatically: I wonder what the confusion is. Suv's, trucks and buses have high rollover rate. So manufacturers limit their speed. A sedan with a 3.5L v6 will outrun an SUV with the same engine. You can't expect a Toyota sienna to outrun an i4 Honda accord. The sienna is taller and heavier. With the exception of few SUV 's like range rover sport, Porsche cayenne, Audi q7 etc that can go beyond 220km/hr, u can hardly see a normal SUV that can go that fast.
then what of corolla 2005 and 2005 camry which has a v6 engine, and both have 180 on their speedo, do they roll over too?

gmyguy: Abuja, no you guys drive too roughly there. My specialty is weaving tactfully between traffic. and i don't disobey traffic lights. The few days i spent in abuja 3 years ago highlighted reckless driving habits of the capital folks. I don't think most of you can drive for shit
yes most of them can't drive, excluding me cheesy but we all have something in common, WE LOVE SPEED grin

auhanson: Abeg make una no make me laf!!!
yes it can do 200kmph and I'm always being confused by speedometers that read only 180kmph angry for example a toyota sienna with a 3.3 v6 and an infiniti qx4 with 3.5 v6 speedo reads on 180kmph, and then an I4 1998 accord will get 240kmph on its speedo, how's that possible? I hate the confusion speedometers cause angry

you are right sir, I always forget the fj has a v6 engine coz it doesn't fit in it. And toyota droped the v6 engine in the rav4 this year too

Coldplay007: Not a dude.. I'm a lady, I just like my cars, I can swear there was something about that corolla. My Camry was pristine then, Mileage was 50.000, the car was so clean, I was comfortably cruising at 180km/hr on good roads..
Probably the corolla is the XRS, or It had nitro. grin grin.
the camry had never been beaten by anything less than 3.0 litre engine before then.. I was so sure I was going to beat the car, I even slowed down a bit so he can over take me so I can then have the pleasure of overtaking him... But the car just kept on accelerating, I slowed down when I got to 180 and I still wasn't getting closer..
lol ok lady, there's always something about corolla's tho, they might have a 1.8liter engine but they're fast on the road especially when on long journeys, and that 2012 corolla that most bankers and business org's use is incredible, I once encountered one of them on abuja airport road with my Qx4, the car beat me on acceleration due to my heavy weight car and I floored my car to about 100mph just to pass him, which I did. As @cityNG said engine badges can deceive..

steffans: as a Peugeot lover.. why not go for a 406 or better still a 407..
I'm a peugeot lover too sir, as I've said earlier I own a peugeot 207 and its a great car too, if u drive it without knowing how many bhp it has u would be shocked when I tell u it has only 110bhp out of a 1.6liter engine, I guess all peugeots are like that, they feel full of power. I've driven the 406 Ew12 and V6 so many times and its a mile eater on the road, haven't tested the 407 but I heard the 406 is better when it comes to performance. I guess pug's feel so powerful because they travel at high rpm's, when I used to travel with the 207 to kaduna every friday from abuja the highest I could do is 170kmph because the front of the car is too low to the ground. So that's why I need a car with great ground clearance and that's why I got the QX4, it has a great powerful engine. But I've used it for about 2years now that's why I wanna upgrade to the venza which has a great v6 engine too

nah I don't like the engine in that, its a 3.3liter v6 with about 220bhp, I need something bigger. I'm using a car with a 3.5liter v6 engine with 240bhp now so it doesn't make sense to me if I drop down to a 3.3liter engine
