Car Talk2007 Honda Accord V6 Ticking Sound Normal? by king406(op): 4:01pm On Feb 08, 2019
My friend has a accord 07 V6. I noticed it has a ticking sound at idle and asked him about it, he said he never noticed it until i asked. Now i know direct injection has a rhythmic ticking sound naturally, does this engine have direct injection? Or is this ticking sound normal for this engine? Car has 180k miles on it. The ticking sound is not too loud but it is noticable, car drives perfectly.

Many thanks boss.

What's your view about it not having enough space at the back and it being too low to accommodate 5 persons- i.e it hits the ground when you have full passengers.

Thanks.
i wont advise using that car as a family car if that is what you are planning to do. I havent had more than 3 people in my car since i bought it.

Many thanks. Still awaits king406 review.
for me when it comes to cars, fuel consumption is not really the first thing i consider, performance and availability of genuine suspension parts is what i look at. Reason why i went for the 350 instead of 250 was simply because of greater performance. So far i havent had any problem with the car but i believe parts are available. Note that you will come across several 250 models online and at dealerships before a 350 model. It costs between 9500 to 10500 to get a full tank, depending on the fuel station you use. I use this car mainly for my weekly commute from abuja to kaduna and it takes a quarter tank, one way. Overall the car feels very solid and well built, i believe if you take care of it and engage in preventive maintenance you wont have any problems.

Good year choice! And yeah, I'm a fan of the IS350. Those things can move, and are rock reliable. I think your budget would've been enough for any G37 Coupe of your choice, though. But that's splitting hairs, since the IS is perhaps the better car anyhow.

Lol, fear not. You'd have to be really unlucky or careless to kill that engine. Those things run forever. Toyota uses that same engine till today.
the car is FAST, fastest car i’ve owned so far. One reason that kind of drove me away from the g37 was that i wasnt sure of how durable its suspension is and how accessible the parts are. Bad suspension really frustrates me

Lexus GS, yes of course. Infiniti G, depends.

Yes, those engines are expensive. The 2GR-FE on the ES and Camry are like 400k or so iirc but the 2GR-FSE on the IS/GS 350 are like 1.2m, lmao.

I think Mayor2013 changed one a while ago. There's a thread on it.

my brother my dream na to get that e63. Let them keep deceiving themselves, they think a quarter mile race and 0-60 times is what completely makes one car better than the other.

BMW will not just overheat on its own except the cooling system is not very active. Some use water while some use Abro coolant and the oil too is a coolant and if you use the right oil for the BMW, unless the car suffers coolant loss regularly, there is no way it will overheat when all factors are in order. The brand is good but I happen to know that the ones bought locally are prone to reliability issues than the US specs. There is hardly anyone bringing in European specs of these cars anymore. it is US all the way and maybe you should adapt to the oils for these cars especially that your sweet e350. Use the US spec of the mobil 1. The benz too, if properly scanned will be showing from time to time, cylinder misfire. Be warned, na so them dey start. Dont go about changing plugs, low octane fuel is doing ts job. It is not only turbo charged that requires premium, the turbo require a higher premium that is why Benz will write on your fuel tank 91 RON minimum. AMGs uses 93 RON and it is a factor why these cars dont last on our roads
obviously the cooling system had issues like i clearly stated, i replaced the entire system and yet the same issue repeated itself. I am not used to a car breaking down often without warning especially for a person that travels every week, sometimes very late in the evening. I lost trust in the car and didnt want to risk it which is why i let go of the car. I used coolant. I am aware of all the engine oil wahala, i appreciate your advice though, good looking out.

What do you expect from a car that requires premium unleaded fuel only and you use the lowest octane rating available? That's why the cars are no longer visible on the road. They are parked safely in the workshop or in the house of the owner. King406, were you using Castrol engine oil when you had the BMW? Have you ever asked if BMW uses engine oil that is for petrol and diesel or for gasoline engine only. Not all Castrol are Castrol especially the ones sold locally that is api sn and ilsac 4. The cars are still on the road, especially the new ones and if we ask, where is the vboot, regular Benz that every roadside mechanic can relate to, The Passats, the Bora and the acura? They have all Gone with the wind.
are you saying that fuel octane level can cause a bmw to overheat? Like i said, i consider myself a car enthusiast and i dont play with my cars, i make sure they are properly maintained, i make sure i know about a car inside out before i decide on owning it. Therefore, the question about using the right engine oil or not is out of the question because best believe i use manufacturer recommended parts and fluids. Octane rating is a big deal, but i didnt know it could cause overheating, please clarify this. I only know turbochargered cars are less tolerant to low octane levels which causes engine defects either on the turbochargers or from the block itself. It was one of the things i looked at before making up my mind on getting the car.

Lots of BS in this thread. Let's call a spade, a spade, people. BMWs are expensive to own. Fin!

Even maintenance culture aside, the damn cars aren't built to be reliable. There's nothing wrong with admitting to that. It doesn't make you any less a fan of German cars.

Engine defects, shite cooling systems, VANOS, etc. Lots of things go wrong on these cars, even with proper maintenance. Stop supporting nonsense. angry

If you doubt, ask King406 about his 5-series (I think) that he didn't use at all because it was turning into a money pit.

And don't tell me there are people who drive their Beemers into the 300k mile range. That's completely anecdotal, and even the most unreliable car brands have special cases like that.
I had a 2011 E92 335i, bought directly from a US car dealer (not auction). It had about 55k miles on it, car was nice and quick. It bothered me with its heating issues which i was well aware of that bmw’s from 1998-2012 usually had. First incident happened on my way to kaduna where the car overheated, i took it to my mechanic and we didnt find anything wrong. Car was ok for about a month before the same experience occured again on the same road. At this time i was starting to get fed up because i consider myself a car enthusiast and i must confess i drive fast on that abj-kd road. after overtaking so many people who think their cars are fast, my car now breaks down and i watch the same people pass me by from the side of the road, i felt embarrassed. I decided to replace the entire cooling system, nothing happened for the next 2 months and note that i had another car, a 2006 c230 sport so the bmw wasnt a daily driver. My brother borrowed the car before calling me that the car has broke down with smoke coming out of the bonnet, it overheated again and he didnt notice fast enough until the head gasket blew. At this point i have had enough, i didnt trust the car again but still i decided to fix it and i read somewhere online that i should buy a headgasket that is thicker than the stock gasket. I really wasnt looking forward to experimenting anything without guarantee and so i sold the car together with my c230 and bought myself a 2011 E350 sport which i have been using for 1year 2months now without any incident. It is my daily driver and also what i use to travel. I must say that car may look all flashy and all but it is actually a tank grin. That is my story.

This is not the first time a clk badge is put on a c class. Op do u know the history of this car? There was never a clk sedan even if there was it will not look exactly the same as a w203. Afterall the front of a clk is different from that of a w203. Mind you clk stand for Coupé Leicht Kompakt which translates to coupe light short in english. From the updated instrument cluster and infotainment system i can tell this is a late 2005 c240 or early 2006

Its a V8 so you should expect that. How about the M113 in C55 AMG
my point is that despite the v8 being in much older models compared to the m272 which was used until late 2011, benz owners with less knowledge will assume their 2010 c class is faster than a 2002 E430. C55 is a car i’ve always wanted to own, i only wish it had the priviledge of having a M113K engine sad baba God pick my call
