I have listened to Nigerian callers on radio - they are never intelligent, especially on political sujects they spend their time praising the presenter and contribute little to nothing on the conversation. It's the same for callers into LBC radio - you draw a specific crowd, you get a specific response.
smiley

I totally agree with you on this. Funny as it may sound I turn off my radio when certain callers call in, cos they just end up spewing trash. (Esp Men).

While not all are like that, there are still a few that contribute very intelligently and back up whatever issue they raised with prerequisite facts.

queensmith:
One of my friends - very intelligent, her education is enviable (Imperial, Oxford) private colleges and secondary schools. She will decimate any maths test you give her. Ask her about Nigerian politics she will talk rubbish. Ask her about Gucci bags and its as if she has memorized the catalog. I agree there are certain industries that are tailored towards women - these industries specifically exploit the objectification women experience. This does not mean my friend isn't intelligent - it simply means she has different interests. Because I'm interested in politics doesn't mean I'm intelligent.
Well said, Although I have noticed that ladies who have better educational background and grew up in the right environment are more of the inspiring ones.

Be it as it may, I think one singular thing we can pull out from this debate is that the environment we live in, our education and exposure we have would determine the kinda things we pick up interest in.

Furthermore as a country our educational standards are below par and hardly motivates nor adds any significant value, hence the reason a whole lot hardly engage in intellectual issues.

again it is not an insult - it speaks for the surroundings of a Nigerian women who has failed to find intelligent Nigerian women. Very simple assertion. We are comparing encounters here unless you want to follow me around with a camera you will take my statements at face value.

Unfortunately, Nigerias male dominated academic institutions fail to produce us with reliable data, that can accurately substantiate the OPs claims. Maybe if there were more intelligent women eh *rolls eyes*

If we were speaking of the other parts of the world it's a proven fact women are more intelligent than men. This is from a series of studies conducted over decades.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/9401241/IQ-tests-women-score-higher-than-men.html

http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/08/hedge-funds-run-by-women-outperform-other-hedge-funds/375542/

http://www.wsj.com/news/articles/SB20001424052702303374004580043670866367344?mod=yahoo_itp&mg=reno64-wsj

and this is without factoring in controversial topics like erotic capital or sexual politics.

Now maybe when you start to hire women more in Nigeria. . . .
Just went through the articles you posted. Nice one, especially the one on banking, sales and investments. (Still need to digest its content though, especially on hedge funds).

Although they still don't prove anything about Nigerian women cos these were stats carried out on women with different backgrounds, race and ideologies.

Like I said in my initial post and like you rightly said in your comment, there are no stats to prove or ascertain these facts when it comes to Nigerian Men and Women.

Our arguments would only dwell on logical assertions and experiences. I made a point earlier on Page 2, there is a particular radio program on "The Woman" and yet when its time to make valid contributions, very few call in. Even when the OAP's categorically state that only female callers should call in.

You might raise the argument that they are busy doing something else, but yet it beats my imagination that when issues such as fashion, food and entertainment are discussed, our ladies easily pick interest.

Suffice it to say that its a "Nigerian tingy" for ladies not to be interested in intellectual issues?

More so being knowledgeable is being well informed and while a lotta ladies raise the argument that they are only knowledgeable in things that they pick interest in, furthermore proves Men right.

I for one would not say I am well grounded in every issue, as a matter of fact I am NOT. Yet I read about things I don't have a slightest interest in. Am not a literature person but a thread came up few months ago on Adichie and El Nathan and I took my time to go through it. I learnt a lot. smiley

missclassy has little or no exposure to classy Nigerian 'ladies'

I suggest you minimize your visits to nail stalls in ketu as observation posts for the females.
Here is where I have a problem with some of the ladies who have actually been vocal enough. Its a simple question, there is no need to attack the personality that created the thread.

Make your points without being rather insulting.

queensmith:
On my assumption that the OP was a sensible poster I was actually about to write a decent response I learnt from a book I read. I'll save that for another day.
You can as well drop it and let us all learn from what you read. That's what this is all about. Plus quit the use of such language @emboldened. It would only lead to a total deviation from the subject matter.

queensmith:
but to match my personal experience with yours - I'd say even in the face of Nigerian being 100% patriarchal society I have encountered more intelligent, ambitious, fiercely educated NIGERIAN women than I have men.
The OP didn't make any argument and you haven't done so either. You have just as many others have, made a statement based on secular reasoning or rather your belief.

Going by your initial analogy about the OP not meeting classy ladies, I could say the same about you not meeting classy Men. (Would that make me right?)

Same thing I told a particular moniker. If I said Jollof rice is far the best food in the world from all the variety I have tasted, have I proven anything?

NO Facts, NO Point.

This thread should have been on FP long ago. I keep seeing hollow threads hitting the FP. And has anyone noticed most of the active female nlders kept away from this discuss. Tells a lot about what we're debating here.
It furthermore stresses all we have been talking about for sometime now. FP has always been about traffic. Intellectual issues hardly drive traffic and its so sad.

Well apart from issues on politics which are not necessarily intellectual but are just issues that constantly affect our daily lives. Like some would say "Naija politics na like action movie" grin

Honestly I have just been reading the different arguments here cos I have been quite busy and I have learnt quite a bunch.

Thanks @Vickybee and @Darkrebel666 for the heated debate. (You guys have further proven that there are only two schools in Naija. wink )

But as much as we like to argue back and forth on this matter I still believe Nigerian men are more knowledgeable. (My Opinion)

There are knowledgeable ladies/women no doubt and am 100% sure a lot of them a considered boring, weird and "ITK's" by their female counterparts.

Even if this thread hits FP, I wouldn't be surprised at the few female monikers that would contribute and make a very good argument. If the intellectual ladies are not on social media platforms like NL, where else would they be? (Maybe Twitter huh)

In addition, like in conventional debates the side that takes the day are not necessarily right. They have only been able to substantiate their reasoning with more facts.

Was your clueless president not a man? I guess that makes ALL men clueless, right?. Why do you guys find it easy to lump all women together but go mad when women do the same?

If we start counting how many Nigerian men that have embezzled money compared to woman, do you think women will surpass them?
Just so you don't know, Nigerian men have been ruling us since eons but we haven't been getting it right. Mtcheew

Like my signature outrightly opined; the act of rebellion is mostly emphasized on when she's a woman.
Nice 1

Very objective point of view.

Plus sexuality is a tough one. Everyone knows most of the kamasutra moves. But your ability to spice it up with your choice of words, detailed description of the minute thing and suspense would keep your readers glued.
