bluecircle470: A last-minute effort by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Bolanle Ambode, to save her husband’s job was said to have hit a brick wall on Tuesday.
It was gathered that Bolanle, who followed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to Osun State on Monday for the Tuesday’s All Progressives Congress’ mega rally for the state governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, waylaid the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and tried to pacify him to change his mind.
Sources told our correspondents that her efforts did not yield any result as Tinubu was said to have “received her cordially and joked with her.”
“At a point, she became emotional despite the fact that many party leaders were there. But Asiwaju (Tinubu) did not give her the answer she desired. He merely treated her with courtesy,” one of the sources said.
The governor and Tinubu have been in the news in the past few days over the second term bid of Ambode.
Tinubu had refused to back Ambode’s second term ambition despite pleas by notable people in the state and the country.
Instead, the Tinubu-led Mandate Movement in the Lagos APC had backed Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who obtained his form last Tuesday.
The chairmen of the 57 councils had also declared support for Sanwo-Olu.
Sawo-Olu, a former commissioner in the state on Sunday formally declared his intention to vie for the Lagos State governorship ticket of the APC, promising to restore the glory of the state.
Notable APC leaders in the state, who were either allies of Tinubu or his followers, were at the declaration.
Meanwhile, sources said the Mandate group had started wooing another aspirant on the APC platform, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.
It was gathered that Tinubu’s men wanted Hamzat, who is from the Lagos East like Ambode, to become the deputy governor with a promise that he would supervise a ministry and also nominate two commissioners into the cabinet.
Hamzat campaign team could not be reached on Tuesday for comment.
PSP operators declare support for Sanwo-Olu
In a related development, the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria on Tuesday made public its intention to support Sanwo-Olu.
The Lagos APC will hold its primary next week to decide who will be its governorship candidate in 2019 election among the incumbent Ambode, Sanwo-Olu, and Hamzat.
At a press conference in their Mushin office on Tuesday, the PSP operators said they believed that Sanwo-Olu, if voted in to replace Ambode, would restore their jobs which the incumbent administration took and gave to a foreign company, Visionscape.
The Vice Chairman of the association, Mr David Oriyomi, who addressed journalists alongside other executive members of AWAM, said the decision to back Sanwo-Olu, was in the interest of about 25,000 workers engaged by the 350 PSP operators, who had lost their jobs.
Oriyomi said the association boasts of no fewer than 150,000 voters at the grass roots, who would be mobilised to help Sanwo-Olu to achieve his governorship ambition.
He expressed the confidence that not only would the emergence of Sanwo-Olu as the next governor of Lagos State help to revive the business of the PSP operators, it would also restore Lagos to its former clean state.
He said, “This injustice should not be allowed to continue, the health and well-being of residents of Lagos must be paramount to all.
“It is, therefore, with great hope that we welcome the emergence of Sanwo-Olu, who has promised to run a participatory government.
“For this reason, we, the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, have decided to align ourselves with Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and pledge our full support to him in the forth- coming elections.
“This decision was taken in the best interest of the environment. We remain committed to servicing the great residents of the centre of excellence. It is time to clean up our city; we did it before, we are able and willing to actualise the Lagos of our dreams.
“We did not just choose to support Sanwo-Olu; we looked at the aspirants. We have the incumbent, we have Femi Hamzat and we have Sanwo-Olu.
“The incumbent, we have seen what he has to offer when it comes to waste management in the state – there is nothing he can offer us.
“Then Hamzat, we have not heard much from his camp; but Sanwo-Olu named the issue of the environment as one of the critical issues that he is going to tackle,” Oriyomi said.

aragon4realz: I met this girl 4years back and one thing led to another and we started a relationship, things have been pretty well and we love each other very much, we have our ups and down but we makeup for it. I love her so much I could do anything for her and she loves me too in her own special kind of way.
The problem now is that am planning on proposing to her in a couple of weeks, I even stylishly measured her ring size and I have been visiting some jewelry stores to pick the perfect ring for her and also planning some surprise engagement party/get together for her but the thing is that she hates my church (catholic).
She is Anglican by birth but she attends one of the pentecostal churches which I don't want to mention, we have been talking about this church of a thing for the past 3 months now and she has sworn never to get married in the Catholic Church and I can't leave my church because of this.
I even stopped talking or texting her for some couple of days now but today she texted me saying that "I should do this one thing for her by leaving my church" and even said it to my face that I should not propose to her when the time comes cos she will say no because of this.
Am just confused, what shall I do? I need help

Omooba77: The Lagos State Building Control Agency has embarked on public sensitisation to inform residents that all buildings in the state must have valid building approval plan.
Mr Olalekan Shodehinde, the General Manager, LASBCA, made this known during sensitisation through the Lagos metropolis of Yaba, Tejuosho and Oyingbo area of the state.
Shodehinde said that almost all the structures within the area which were initially for residential purposes had been converted to commercial purposes without requisite approval plan or due regularisation with the agency.
According to him, a total of 145 converted buildings were identified and served with the planning permit and post construction notices.
He said that a 14-day ultimatum had been given to the owners of the affected buildings to visit LABSCA district offices to do their regularisation.
“Virtually all buildings within this axis are initially for residential purposes, but have now been converted to commercial purposes without an approval of the agency.
“Many of structures do not have approval plan even at the inception of the buildings before their conversion, which implies they are illegal buildings from the beginning.
“Regularising the buildings on or before the 14 days grace will attract no penalty. But at expiration of the duration, LABSCA will come to completely seal the buildings,” Shodehinde said.
He, therefore, urged every owner/developer within the area, whose property was not covered by a planning permit, to regularise the property with the agency.
According to him, the regularisation and validation of buildings are necessary to avoid disruption of trading activities by the agency due to lack of building plan approval.

PrettyCrystal: Operatives attached to the Ogun police command have arrested three young men in Atan-Otta area of the state, for allegedly carting away a veritable source of power to MTN mast.
As it is a known fact that the mast needs to be on for the entire 24 hours of the day, to service subscribers, a condition the MTN management felt was a task that must be done and decided to install 12 solar power panels for the installation.
Against this well designed arrangement, a gang thieves besieged the site at Atan-Otta with the intent to cart away the entire solar power panels valued at N14 million.
However, having succeeded in dismantling the source of power on Saturday, August 18, 2018, they ran out of luck when a group of vigilante members at Onigbongbo Phase 2 sighted them at about 12.30am on the fateful day and put a distress call across to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station, SP Abiodun Salau.
SP Salau, led his team of patrol men to the scene and arrested three of the alleged vandals while other members of the syndicate escaped into a nearby bush.
Disclosing this to Crimepuzzle in a press statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, gave the names of the suspects as kehinde Yahya, 36, Akeem Ademola, 36 and Taofeek Oladele, 36.
According to the PPRO, the entire 12 solar power panels as well as a Volkswagen bus, popularly known as Danfo marked LND 10 XE, were recovered from the hoodlums.
He further said that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to FSARS for discreet investigation, even as he directed that serious manhunt should be launched for the fleeing members of the gang, with the view of bringing them to justice

Letenwam: A suspected illegal immigrant, has been arrested in Owerri by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Imo State Command.
The suspected illegal immigrant identified as Sunday Djimekou from Togo, was apprehended on Thursday along Okigwe road in the Owerri metropolis following a a tip-off. Mr Raji Ibrahim, the NSCDC State commandant, who paraded the suspect at the NSCDC headquarters, Owerri, on Saturday, said upon interrogation, Sunday Djimekou confessed to being an an illegal immigrant.
“The eagle-eyed operatives of the corps found out that he is not a Nigerian. It was also found that he is in the country and Imo State precisely without any document or papers of genuine entry into the country, therefore he is an illegal immigrant,” Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim who stated that the agency would not relent in fighting crimes in the state and the country at large, added that Djimekou came into the country in 2000 and Imo State on June 6, 2005.
“We are not going to rest on our oars in ensuring that the mandates for which the agency was established are achieved,” Ibrahim added.
“The arrest of Djimekou would serve as a deterrent to others in the state,” he said.
According to the NSCDC commandant, the suspect would be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for appropriate actions. Djimekou on his own part, said he came into the country in 2000 on the invitation of a Nigerian, whose name he did not give.
“I came into Nigeria with one man in 2000, who invited me to work in his house in Lagos. I am a tiler. So, when I finished the work, another man that I met while in Lagos promised he would establish me in Imo State because of my good work.
“He is a politician and he was the one that brought me to Owerri in 2005, where I have been working since then,” the suspect said.
Punch gathered that he confessed that he did not have any authorized documents to be in the country.
