Good day, I recently bought a Honda Accord 2005 and after 3 weeks it started making noise from the engine. I was planning to take it to mechanic the following day but while driving this Sunday, it stopped on a highway. I tried to start it but the battery couldn't. So I borrowed a battery to start it. After starting it, the noise this time became worse and I managed it to a mechanic workshop. On reaching there, he said the sound is from the engine and he had to wait for it to get cold before opening it. The following day he opened it, long story short he discovered the connecting rod is broken, and the crankshaft affected too. He is advising me to get a new engine which will cost 450k and I'm flat broke right now. What can I do?

PS: It's my first car and I'm new to car stuff.

Park that car at home, buy another engine or rebuild that engine when you raise funds.

Hi I own an Honda accord 2008 Car started revving high on it’s own and jerk when I engage the gear, Got the injector washed and it stopped for about 3 days only to do the same thing again. The a mechanic said it’s injector mouth and I have replaced it, called a Rewire to scan check cuz its not starting anymore, now a Rewire said the ecu is not communicating with the scanner, he can’t read any error. Any advice please

Get the car to start communicating before anything.

I'm very sure your car electrical circuit has been messed up and bastardized.

But I don't know whether that will solve the problems.

Get another competent mechanic, let him drop that engine, disassemble it and find it's culprit.

I'm afraid the oil pump, metals and bearings and camshafts are on their way out and you'd have to rebuild that engine or replace it.

Yes, most cars radiator have an inbuilt automatic transmission cooler inside them. If the automatic transmission cooler fails, it can cause coolant to mix with the transmission oil

your coolant is mixing with oil. Could be a head gasket that's blown or a cracked cylinder

A misunderstanding here, didn't say any mechanic willing to install the used/rebuilt trans (if she gets one) should refund if unit doesn't work fine, that the part seller from which the part will be procured should agree to refund buyer's money should the part fail or not run well after installation, is what was said.
This querier asked for advice, I gave mine, partly from experience and what I've seen people go through trying to resolve trans issues.
Even you as a mechanic can only do so much, do you rebuild trans? I know you don't sell parts, the risk attached to getting a trans with no verifiable history or mileage is much higher than getting a motor with same, trans are more delicate, and specialists who can deal with trans issues are far from many, not to mention the never sincere trans sellers, that the requester has money for trans replacement or a rebuild doesn't guarantee expected results.

A vehicle not moving is no longer an "AUTOMOBILE", that's just chassis and wires, dwelling on the price may not be wise, the numbers will not look good if requester somehow gets unlucky and ends up buying a bad trans, or one that gets bad within a few months and then the cycle continues, perfect to say I'm more on the negative side of things, but these things happen, and a failed ignition coil does not go for 1/500th of the numbers for a trans.

Always sad to hear people dealing with trans issues, when this happens I feel like doing a VIN check, finding and interrogating the past users on the service history, users before it was shipped here 😡, that's if I've always and timely done my own servicing 🙄.

Requester miss, kindly update us with your progress as you embark on this journey, if you do eventually resolve the issue, let us know and share the contact of the miracle worker gearbox specialist, and or that of the legit gearbox seller, It might come in handy should i or someone else need a trans job, goodluck.

Your experience is very limited in these things, I'd humbly suggest you don't engage in topics you have little knowledge of.

If she tries to sell off that car as is, the max she would get is 8-9m, a considerable loss and it's gonna take a while before anybody will attempt to sink funds in a car they know nothing about. Her best bet is replace that transmission. Use it for a while then sell off if she's no longer interested in it.
Also, I've rarely heard about cars transmission failing again in the near future after a replacement transmission job was carried out in Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Honda and a few other cars.

This is my last comment on this matter vs you, I do not wish to dwell on it for longer than usual.

All these are NOT necessary.
Also, NO mechanic in The world will refund a dime on a used transmission. It's the job of a transmission seller.


Why didn't you sell your Hyundai Sonata for scrap when it ignition coil failed?
Or did you made sure your mechanic signed a refund agreement should it not work?

You advising the owner of a 3rd generation RX350 to sell off her RX350 just because of a transmission failure is a terrible advise. An RX350 2010-2015 goes for 23-28m in the Tokunbo market and 14-19m in Nigerian used market. The U660E/F (22pin) transmission is about 2-3m in the market and if she gets a good mechanic and a good part seller who's willing to sell a good part, that car will come back alive without a single issue.

My Kia Sorento 2004 model is not starting. It has been diagnosed but no fault detected. The ignition coil does not spark light on normal connect. But when direct current is passed to it, t will spark. The service guy is suggesting brain box. Does any one has idea about this? It's manual and 4plugs

Did he check timing and Crankshaft Position Sensor?

I got this camry hybrid 2007 Nigeria used with almost all d light shows which my engineer confirmed it's due to one or 2 cells of d hybrid battery being bad.
The check hybrid system and VSC system error keep popping up. The brake,ABS light were on and d braking system was not good enough.

After replacing d faulty single hybrid cell, the car started switching to hybrid normally and Car run smoothly.
All the ABS light went off and d braking system became so superb again but the lights comes up at intervals and when it does, d brake won't be sharp as it should.

The previous owner claimed to have been driving it like that since it's not giving him issues but I can't drive a car with intermittent failed braking system. My engineer said it will get better with time that i should just be driving it like that. My mind is always there whenever I'm driving because there's this loud and annoying alarm sound that comes up whenever d lights are On and d brake won't catch much but it will disappear on it's own after driving for sometimes only for it to come up again and d alarm will start making noise again

Pls what is d way forward?

Good morning great minds, my 2004 Corolla is burning out oil very fast or shorting oil, I top the engine oil with 1litre almost every two weeks, the engine sounds great and it does not smoke,though all this started after I started using it for this hustle, my mechanic said the top has to be grinded, please what could the problem and possible solution be? It's either leaking oil from the seals, or its smoking but you can't see it or its PCV valve is bad.

Prolly your compressor or expansion valve or condenser.

Keep the car on stand still and hold the Rev at 2500 to observe if it chill.
