Three years ago, Google brought the Android One Project to Africa with the launch of the Infinix HOT 2. The aim of the Android One project is to make and sell cheap android phones with good specifications. Android One phones always receive the latest android updates sooner than most phones. Android ONE devices were originally low-end devices but things have changed now; Android One will not only run on low end devices but high end devices too. Infinix mobility is about to release an Android ONE phablet device, the Infinix Note 5 Stylus. The Infinix Note 5 Stylus will offer almost a flagship specifications at a reasonable price. The Infinix Note 5 stylus is coming with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo, coupled with an Android One badge for a clean, stock Android look straight from Google. According to speculations, we should expect the following features on the Infinix Note 5: Face Unlock: The Hot 6 launched with Face recognition, so it's safe to say we can also expect it on the Note 5. Big Battery: The major selling point of Infinix Note devices have always been their large battery capacity, last year’s model came packed with a sizeable 4300mAh battery and the company is hinting at bumping up the size so 4500 or 5000mAh maybe. Display: The Infinix Note 5 will come with 18:9 aspect ratio on 6.2 inches Full HD IPS LCD display screen to give infinity display and immersive viewing experience. Operating System: The Infinix Note 5 is an Android ONE device so its obviously coming with the latest Android version available which Android 8.1 Oreo. Camera: The Infinix Note 5 is rumored to be coming with a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.25um large pixels and a 8MP selfie camera. When Will it Launch? The Infinix Note 5 is Expected to launch on 24th of June 2018 in Dubai. Source -Naijatechs |
We all use smartphones but do we that there are certain things we do that we shouldn't be doing and vice versa? Smartphones have become an integral part of life of people of all ages. But no matter your age, there are some basic ideas for keeping mobile phone use safe and constructive. 1. Share with care: When sharing things from your device, be sure that they wouldn't hurt anyone's feeling or send a bad message about anyone. Once they’re posted, text, photos, and videos are hard to take back, they can easily be copied and pasted elsewhere, and they might end up there forever. Think about the people in them (including you!). Reputations are at stake. 2. Avoiding texting while moving: This doesn't just apply to people that are driving, as there have also been reports of accidents that happened to people that were using their phone while walking. Therefore, never text, send email, use apps or configure the phone’s GPS while driving, riding a bike/bicycle. 3. Don't speak loudly over the phone: You shouldn't talk in a really loud voice while on the phone, as doing so might disturb people around you and violate your privacy(exposing your private conversations to third-parties). 4. Take Some Time Off: This is a problem most smartphone users face, they get overly addicted to their device that they sometimes forget the real world exists. Excessive smartphone usage can negatively affect sleep, concentration, school, and other important things that requires your focus. Sometimes you need to just drop your phone and socialize with people in real life(social media could never substitute this) or just take a short nap. 5. Share your location mindfully: A lot of apps allow friends to pinpoint each other’s physical location. If you use such a service, do so only with friends you know in person and would like to share your location with. I can say without a doubt that over 50% of smartphone users are guilty of at least one of the above things however we should try to change the ways we use our devices to stay safe and smart! Earlier yesterday, I was discussing iPhone designs with a friend who is a chronic Apple Fanboy and I told him that the company had run out design ideas judging by the poor design of the iPhone X and the three iPhones expected to launch this year(My opinion). This wasn't our first iPhone vs Android discussion and is certainly not the last. Anyways, according to him, Apple was going to come up with a new design which would be better than the preceding ones. I didn't believe this was possible because to me, the iphone 7 Plus design is the best Apple has and would be able to come up with. But then, I saw this article on The verge suggesting that Apple is reportedly working on a foldable iPhone which could be released within two years. Senior analyst Wamsi Mohan wrote a note to clients today after meeting several Apple suppliers in Asia. “We expect the iPhones this fall to be largely unchanged for the OLED versions although size changes have proved to be a catalyst in the past,” Mohan wrote, “Our checks also suggest that Apple is working with suppliers on a foldable phone (that potentially could double up as a tablet) for launch in 2020.” Last year, a Korean media outlet reported that Apple was teaming up with LG, but that report only had anonymous industry sources so it wasn't taken serious. It stated that Apple would order foldable OLED panels that could start production in 2020. Both Samsung and Lenovo have already hinted phones with foldable screens, but neither have actually released such a device on the market. Given the patents and demonstrations out there, it seems like foldable screens could be the next form factor. Source - Naijatechs.com |
One thing I really hate while browsing besides flooding ads is unexpected autoplaying video. You're peacefully browsing, enjoying the moment next a video is playing from God knows where. Thankfully, Google is finally getting serious about blocking annoying autoplay videos. The next Chrome update (version 66) will include changes to autoplay videos that means the browser will only play them if you click and interact with the site, or have previously “shown an interest in media on the site.” These change was originally scheduled for Chrome 64, which arrived in January with an option to permanently mute annoying websites that abuse autoplay videos with the sound on by default. Very recently, I posted an article suggesting that Instagram was working on a new update that will bring Video calling to instagram. Today's post however, is about a new feature was just introduced into the platform, the new update being Text-only statues. With the latest Instagram update, you can now posts stories with just text with the new Type Mode a feature which has previously been seen on whatsapp and facebook stories. To use the new feature, open Instagram’s camera feature you should see “Type” next to “Normal” under the record button. You can then simply tap on the “Type” option to start writing whatever you want for your story post. You can also customize the post by adding different colored backgrounds, along with different choices for fonts and sizes. You can also highlight specific words or phrases in your post. You may also decide to use a photo as the background image for your text status. The new font styles can also be used if you want to add text to any photo or video post. Just like normal story posts, the Type Mode option posts will disappear after 24 hours. To get the new feature, simply update your instagram app on the google Play Store. Source - Naijatechs

Due to certain restrictions, receiving money from some countries has become really hard and as such people have devised the means of receiving the cash by telling the sender to purchase all sorts of gift cards and send the picture. The main issue however isn't in getting the gift card but in converting the gift cards to real cash, that's the essence of this post I'm writing today. I know a lot of people won't be happy that I'm revealing this method because believe me a lot of people have made businesses out of converting gift cards to cash, a process that won't take 30 minutes of your time. If you're ready to roll, let's dive in! All you need to complete this process are: 1. A picture of the gift card (iTunes, Amazon, Stream, Netflix etc) 2. A data enabled device 3. Common sense. I assume you have all these ready, lets go straight to the actual process 1. First thing you have to do is register on paxful by clicking here. 2. After a successful registration you would see the screen below, click on "Buy Bitcoin" 3. Fill in the required details, in the space for 'Amount', put the amount of the Gift card; if its a 100$ iTunes gift card for example put 100 in amount, USD in currency and iTunes gift card in 'Way to pay' then click Search. A list of buyers that are willing to buy the gift card and give you Bitcoins would show on the next page, find a good deal and sell the Gift Card. PS: You won't get the exact value for the Bitcoin that means you could get 30$ bitcoin for a 50$ gift card(try to Strike a good bargain though) 4. After you've gotten the Bitcoins, all that's left is to sell the Bitcoin and get paid in cash. To do this, click on the Buy Bitcoin button, on the next page that shows select "Sell Bitcoin". Fill in the amount and currency just like when you wanted to buy the Bitcoin, select "Nigeria bank transfer" in "Way To Pay". 5. Again, find a good deal and sell the Bitcoin, that's all you have successfully converted your Gift card to cash. Source - Naijatechs

Few months ago, AIRTEL launched three new unlimited plans that really excited its users unknown to them that their excitement would be cut short before the end of the year. The "10, 15 and 20" unlimited plans have been curbed for reasons best known to them. According to them, the 10k, 15k and 20k data plans were promos and now they have been stopped. According to YomiProf, when you subscribe to the unlimited 10 data plan you are only limited to 20GB of use and the unlimited 15 plan gives 40GB valid for 30days. Also you can now check your remaining data by dialing *140# unlike before when it was unlimited. For those that already have an active data plan, they can unlimitedly use their data till it expires. The sole reason you are spewing these rubbish is because you or someone you know have never had an encounter with these men... I know of countless situations where these armed men perpetrate evil and are faced with zero consequences.... 1) About last month around 11pm a few sars officials raided my apartment where i stayed and scattered my entire apartment in search of what i don't know(trust me to keep a very close on them before they plant something on me) after about ten minutes of ransacking and finding nothing, you would think they would apologize for the inconveniece and be on their way but no! They did something else... They started harrassing A female friend that was with me at the time calling her all sorts of demeaning names like pr0stitute and all till they left.... 2) A friend of mine was walking around that Ikeja underbridge when sars officials approached him after all the initial introductions they requested to see his phone which he gave to them after turning the phone inside-out and finding nothing they dipped their hands into his pocket, found 10k they took 5k and gave him 5k saying they suspected he was a yahoo boy. 3) A yahoo boy(I admit he was a yahoo boy) was recently killed in my area by SARS officials, how did this happen? According to witnesses, the guy was heading back home at night when he was stopped by sars officials who held him at gun point and directed him to withdraw some cash at the atm as they normally do... They got to the atm, checked his balance saw that he had a lot of cash in there, they killed the guy and took off with the atm card. After which they started withdrawing from the account unknown to them that the account was linked to his mums number after several withdrawal the confused mum went to the bank for inquiries, the bank investigated (you know atms have cameras installed right?) after the investigation the face of the notorious sars official was seen withdrawing from the atm) the case was taken to court and he and his gang were sentenced to an abuja prison.... Who knows they could be free and perpetrating their evil there? And there are countless more cases like this happening daily... To round this up, sars officials are always in buses patrolling my area and any young guy they see while patrolling gets booted into their van whether innocent or guilty. So my guy before you take time out to write on a subject matter, first take time out to investigate and get to know about. Except you were paid to do a PR job if so you failed woefully!! #ENDSARS |

I recently made a post reporting that Android phones sends its user's location to Google without permission. http://www.naijatechs.com/2017/11/android-phones-secretly-sends-location-to-google.html Google has come forward to state that it will no longer track user's locations, a practice which impacts users' privacy. Google said it chose to end the practice right after the report was brought to its attention. In a statement emailed to USA TODAY, Google offered an explanation regarding the practice: "To ensure messages and notifications are received quickly, modern Android phones use a network sync system that requires the use of Mobile Country Codes (MCC) and Mobile Network Codes (MNC). In January of this year, we began looking into using Cell ID codes as an additional signal to further improve the speed and performance of message delivery." Android phones regularly ping Google's servers using a system known as Firebase Cloud Messaging. Google said that the location data were never stored in its network sync system, "so that data was immediately discarded." Nevertheless, Google states that it is no longer requesting such Cell ID codes. Google however reach out to advertisers who want to target customers based on their locations, through the company's online AdWords advertising program. Google can determine location through data collected via GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or in some instances a cell tower. I think this is a good step, no one likes to be tracked without prior notice or permission. Source - http://www.naijatechs.com/2017/11/google-stops-tracking-android-users.html |

Android phones gather your location data and send it to Google, regardless of if you have location services turn on or not, even if you don’t have a SIM card. Since January, all kinds of Android phones and tablets have been collecting the addresses of nearby cellular towers and sending the encrypted data to Google when connected to the internet. Android leaks location to google According to Google, An update that removes this cell tower data-collecting feature will roll out by the end of this month. Google’s terms of service, at the time of publish, still states; “When you use Google services, we may collect and process information about your actual location” using “various technologies... including IP address, GPS, and other sensors that may, for example, provide Google with information on nearby devices, Wi-Fi access points and cell tower.” There is no way to prevent your location data from being sent to Google even if you turn off location/GPS services or even factory reset the phone. Personally, I frown at such acts because I don't really like my location getting out. Not because I'm doing anything illegal or nothing I just like my privacy I really hope Google does something to stop this. Unlock Patterns To Protect Your Phone 13:02:00 Leave A Reply One of the beauties of the Android OS is that it gives users the option to pick from different security options to secure their phone. However most users end up using the most basic and easiest to copy. Android unlock patterns are easy to copy and less secure than fingerprint scanners and passcodes, research has revealed. Bystanders with little technical expertise can copy your pattern from a distance. Trust me it's true, can't count how many unlock patterns my brain has stored from just a single glance The study found that numbered passcodes, which are used on the iPhone and also available on Android phones, are far more secure. "PINs are the most secure means of phone security from people around. This is because patterns are easier to remember, and because the shape is easier to spy on compared to typed numbers, according to the researchers. Android users can opt to secure their phone with a password or passcode by going to Settings > Lock screen and security. The safest and fastest way, though, is to use the device's fingerprint scanner. Source - Naijatechs.com |
