89green: Wahala wahala wahala ooo
People don't understand what is going on and I don't blame them because US Media is imperialist propaganda so here's the 411:
Donald Trump is freaking out because he is not only losing, but this war against Iran is speeding up the collapse of the US empire
Iran taking control of the Strait of Hormuz is going to cost the US $3 trillion a year. Since the 1970s oil has been traded using the petrodollar. Iran knew this and knew it could severely weaken US hegemony by allowing ships to pass if they switched from the petrodollar to Chinese yuan.
The other major development that isn't being covered is the US has spent trillions of dollars on building US bases in order to occupy and control the Middle East. These bases have taken significant damage from Iranian missiles and are being abandoned.
The US is not and never was "liberating" Iran, but Iran is absolutely liberating the Middle East from US imperialism.
Like all empires of the past the US is no different: It is collapsing under the weight of its own greed, corruption, and barbarity. Very funny & unimpressive narrative. Iran has been given softlanding by the US. The leaders should grab it with both hands. Remember that the IDF is still in operation bombing missile manufacturing & storage sites. The US is planning to send the Delta force to capture Kharg Island with the petroleum resources intact to stabilize oil prices. Iran's leaders have been decimated & future leaders will go the same way unless ratified by the US. Iran's time is up, whatsoever they're doing is just to buy time. |
Politics › Re: Soldiers Withdrew From Borno Towns Over Shortage Of Ammunition — Ndume by kinguwem: 5:15pm On Mar 25 |
Reference: The simple structure that will contain this insurgency is straightforward.
State police to maintain security, law and order in the city centres, towns and villages within the boundaries of the state.
Federal Police to patrol and monitor activities and movements within the settlements and along highways and acceses on the borders (only) with neighbouring states.
And the Army to patrol and monitor activities and movements within international border communities, highways and all accesses with the neighboring countries of the Cameroun, Chad and Niger republics.
This kind of clear sectors of responsibility will give no room for these blood thirsty criminals to hide. The bushes, the towns will all be completely saturated.
It is not possible with the present structure. The resources are just not there. The problem is not availability of resources but prioritization of resource allocation. The FG is not serious about establishment of State Police until after the general elections next year. The governors lack innovations & most don't have grassroot support. The easiest way to win elections is decamping to APC & depending on federal might. Without curtailing poverty, religious extremism, corruption etc., the fight against insurgency will not be successful. |

J is Razzness: It's like the US doesn't seem to know anything about Shiites. Growing up, I barely knew anything about Shiites, other than the usual conspiracy theories about how evil they are. So because of this war, I decided to do a deep dive on what Shia is all about. Basically, the Shia sect were originally a group of Muslims who believed that after the death of Prophet Muhammad, his cousin Ali bin Abu-Talib should have become the leader of Muslims (this is a reasonable stance), but the other Muslims chose Abubakar since he was the one whom the prophet regarded as his deputy during his life (this is also reasonable). The problem started when Ali was killed and Mua'awiyya hijacked the leadership position. Shiites believe Hassan or Hussein, who were the grandchildren of the prophet, should have become the leader. But Hassan and Hussein refused to accept Mu'awiyya; they fled the city of Mecca, and Mu'awiyya hunted them with 3,000 men and murdered them in the most gruesome means possible. He killed all 71 of Hussein's family and companions.
This was where conventional Shia Islam was born. those who defied the brutality of Mu'awiyya and chose death over servitude. This is the very foundation on which Shia Islam is built. Do not oppress, and do not be oppressed. So when Israel was oppressing Palestinians, they took it upon themselves to be their protectors. When Blacks were oppressed in South Africa during apartheid, Iran was the first to offer help. When they arrested hundreds of American soldiers during the revolution, Khomenei released only women and Black soldiers (he told them they suffered enough).
So if the US and Israel think they can threaten, kill, or bribe Shiites into submission, they are in for a big disappointment. These are people whose faith is built on sacrifice and blood. Iran's only crime today is that they refused to turn a blind eye to the atrocities of Israel in Palestine, like the Saudis and the Qataris. If they had done so, they would be living large by now. There's nothing invincible about Iran. Their cup is full. Once the US secures the Strait of Hormuz, it's game over. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Iran Bombs U.S Oil Tanker In Persian Gulf (Photos) by kinguwem: 7:39am On Mar 08 |
Dogalmighty17: The Iranian president doesn't control the IRGC. Nigerians are just an embarrassingly ignorant people too lazy to even read up to get the full picture of what's happening. Iran is not looking for a fair fight. It knows it cannot win that. All it seeks to do is to make this invasion as painful as possible for the US as possible. Iranian citizens are used to pain and hardship. That country has been under sanctions since 1974. So bombing their power stations, schools and hospitals like the US and Israel are currently doing is just a minor inconvenience to them.
Iran however knows that the fat entitled ignorant slobs that most Americans are, can't stomach any form of hardship. So Iran seeks to push up the costs of energy, thereby making fuel prices rise and at the same time, threaten the petro-dollar. If economic distabilisation arises from it, then even better. That's Iran's thinking and that's why they have laid a siege on the strait of Hormuz.
The only way the US can get that strait open is by sending in soldiers. How many deaths of their own men can they handle? It may just be like Vietnam, the US used more bombs on Vietnam than all the quantity of bombs both allied and axis forces dropped in world war 2. The US killed close to 4 million Vietnamese while losing around 55,000 Americans but yet in the end, the US turned tail and left shamefully without achieving a single objective. The communists still took over.
Might is not all there is to be. Victory is not always an elixir. Sometimes, we need to pause and ask ourselves, is the cost worth it? The issue here is preventing Iran from producing nuclear weapons. If Iran had nukes, Israel would've been wiped off the map. Iran has the support of Russia, China, North Korea etc. Blocking the Strait of Hormuz is a wrong decision by Iran. It will empower more US allies to join the war. Iran is used to wars, economic sanctions etc. But the majority of Iranians are not pro-extremist islamic fundamentalists. A regime change will take power from the Caliphs to the people. And how it'll be managed is what will determine the fate of Iran in the days to come. For now, I don't see Iran serving the rage of the US & Israel. |

I thought it was resource control that was the reason for banditry but it's far from that.
The state governors of these affected regions aren't doing things for these youth in terms of education, job creation, mechanized farming..... The basic problem is the political structure which encourages ethno-religious politics. A group backed by powerful forces is bent on elimination of others for political & economic benefits. Unfortunately, the political elites pretend not to understand the unfolding scenario because of egocentrism & fear of losing elections. The solution lies in the ability of the people to determine their destinies by having a free, credible & fair electoral process which will enable them to elect their leaders. The recent Electoral Act amendment was a missed opportunity by the NASS members who're more concerned about personal gains than the concerns of the people. The writer, an academic equally refused to emphasize the influence of religious extremism & it's association with radicalised groups & terrorism as a major factor fueling the crisis, killing of Muslims & Christians; ethnic cleansings & genocide in some communities especially in the Middle-belt. |

Former Governor of Rivers State and Presidential hopeful, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on Friday hosted members of the United Opposition led by Alhaji Hayatu.
While speaking with the group drawn from various parts of the country, the Presidential aspirant on the platform of ADC commended them for their resolve to join in rescuing Nigeria from "the bad governance of the current administration".
He assured that when he becomes President of Nigeria, he will give fifty percent of his cabinet to youths and women.
He cited his time as Governor of Rivers between 2007 and 2015, emphasizing how he ran a youthful cabinet in Rivers State and how he plans to do the same at the Federal level upon assumption of office as President.
He further highlighted that as Governor of Rivers State, he led a cabinet where he was the eldest at age 42. He clarified that with the exception of Magnus Abe, who was in his age bracket, the majority of his team were young professionals in their 30s.
Drawing from his record in Rivers State, he concluded: "This means that if I win, the youth will have the opportunity to serve as members of the Federal Cabinet." His role in sponsoring, campaigning & promoting the Presidency of PBAT is a sore part of his political career. He stabbed his brother PGEJ in the back & promised change through PBAT. Categorization of the membership certificate as Category B (specialist cadre) is what obtains in most West African African countries until recently when the MDCN downgraded it to category C without any obvious reason. A senior resident is a specialist & is entitled to specialist allowance. Globally there's scarcity of human resources for health. And one of the pull factor is good remuneration. As long as the remuneration is poor, the brain drain will never be reversed. The country cannot claim to have done enough, if basic allowances of doctors cannot be sorted out when far more resources are used to fund the allowances of politicians that don't contribute much to the wellbeing of the people. |

Politics › Re: You Failed As Anambra Governor, Bayo Onanuga Slams Peter Obi by kinguwem: 5:58pm On Jan 01 |
WriterX: After carefully reading this, I have come to realize that Bayo Onanuga’s statement is less a serious policy defence and more a partisan tirade riddled with historical amnesia, selective facts, and personal abuse unbecoming of a presidential spokesman. When a government communicator abandons evidence for insults, it often signals insecurity, not confidence.
First, the attempt to frame Peter Obi as a “bitter loser” ignores a basic democratic reality: post-election critique is not bitterness; it is accountability. Every major opposition figure globally — from the United States to Europe — continues to interrogate elections, policies, and governance long after polls close. To demand silence from Obi while Tinubu himself contested elections multiple times after losing is rank hypocrisy. Tinubu went to court repeatedly between 2003 and 2007; was he “bitter” then, or was he exercising democratic rights?
Second, the claim that “empirical analyses showed Obi could not have won” collapses under scrutiny. INEC’s own final results show Obi won 11 states and the FCT, including Lagos — Tinubu’s political base — an unprecedented outcome for a third-force candidate. That alone contradicts the narrative of an “abysmal third-place fluke.” No amount of name-calling erases the electoral earthquake of 2023, where a candidate without state backing or federal machinery shattered Nigeria’s two-party monopoly.
Third, Onanuga’s assertion that Obi was an “abysmal failure” in Anambra is demonstrably false and easily verifiable. When Obi left office in 2014, Anambra had zero bank loans, over ₦75 billion in savings and investments, and functional public institutions — facts acknowledged by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, the Debt Management Office, and even successive Anambra governments. If that is failure, then Nigeria desperately needs more of it. Contrast this with today’s federal reality: ballooning debt, weakened purchasing power, and record food inflation despite repeated claims of “economic restructuring.”
Fourth, the mocking reference to a “madman in Onitsha” is not just crude; it exposes a disturbing disdain for mental health, religious diversity, and millions of Nigerians. For a presidential spokesman to deploy such language reflects poorly on the administration he represents. Governments confident in their record do not resort to mockery — they marshal data.
On the economic claims, Onanuga’s narrative again unravels. Removing petrol subsidy without adequate buffers triggered historic inflation, currency freefall, and widespread poverty, as confirmed by the National Bureau of Statistics and the World Bank. Foreign reserves have not “risen sustainably”; they have fluctuated amid heavy intervention, while the naira lost significant value within months. Inflation “decelerating” after peaking above 30% is not success — it is damage control after policy shock.
The much-touted Lagos–Calabar and Sokoto–Badagry highways remain largely conceptual, with procurement controversies, cost opacity, and minimal visible progress. Announcements are not achievements. Nigerians measure governance by outcomes, not press releases.
On the accusation that Obi promotes “copy-and-paste governance,” Onanuga again misrepresents reality. Every successful nation learns from others — Singapore studied Britain, China studied the West, Rwanda studied Singapore. Learning is not copying; refusing to learn is stagnation. Ironically, many Tinubu policies — subsidy removal, tax harmonisation, FX liberalisation — are textbook IMF and World Bank prescriptions, hardly “homegrown originality.”
Finally, the obsession with Obi’s party movements reeks of selective memory. Tinubu himself moved from SDP to AD to AC to ACN to APC. Political evolution is not wandering; it is adaptation. To weaponise it against Obi is intellectual dishonesty.
In the end, Onanuga’s statement does more damage to the presidency than to Peter Obi. It replaces governance communication with personal insults, substitutes propaganda for proof, and reveals a troubling intolerance for dissent. Nigerians are not asking for perfection — they are asking for honesty, competence, and respect.
A government that truly has results does not fear comparison. And a spokesman confident in his principal’s record does not need to shout insults to be heard. The best thing the PBAT administration can offer Nigerians is credible, free & fair elections. Until Nigerians can decide who their leaders are, we'll not make meaningful progress. |
