In Nigeria, the welfare of politicians is prioritized over the welfare of professionals & academics who are trained to solve the challenging problems in the society. Previous leaders including OBJ, GEJ utilized the State House clinic & National Hospital for medical check up & treatments. PMB & PBAT transferred their medical treatment abroad. How will our health system develop?

The brain drain in the healthcare system is massive due to various reasons but not limited to poor remuneration, unconducive working environment, insecurity etc. The government should try to stick to the collective bargaining agreement to prevent industrial actions that'll be inimical to the health of the populace.

All hands must be on deck if we desire a better Nation. Ojukwu believed this agreement gave the Eastern Region the autonomy it needed.


⚠️ Breakdown of Trust
When the Nigerian government returned from Aburi, it reneged on the full implementation of the agreement.

Gowon later promulgated Decree No. 8.
This breakdown of the Aburi Accord became a turning point. Ojukwu felt the East was betrayed.

Declaration of Biafra and Civil War

On May 30, 1967, Ojukwu declared the independence of Biafra.
The Nigerian government responded militarily.

The secession & declaration of war was unnecessary & preventable if the parties had applied diplomatic mains to solve the problems. Political inexperience was a major problem.
The solution to Nigerian's problems doesn't lie in a unitary system of government nor the parasitic fiscal federalism fostered on the citizens by the political class & elites.
The sectional interests can only be doused by a confederation or regional governments. Gowon should be bold to say the obvious rather than always trying to justify his mistakes.

Fire brigades in Nigeria are totally useless and should be scrapped, look at when they finally showed up when the car is totally gone already.

I believed they responded well depending on when they're informed. I believe if a fire extinguisher was applied promptly, it would've saved the situation. Finally, regular car maintenance & routine inspection before driving a car is very invaluable in diagnosing fuel leaks which is usually associated with fire incidents.

It's more of an issue of lack of long term economic plan. climate change, surge of insurgency in the Sahel region and poor governance. Successive governments have failed in their responsibilities, resulting in lawlessness & anarchy.
The Governor understands the situation but doesn't want to be seen as antagonistic to the survival strategy of his kinsmen. And really, arming poorly enlightened civilians could also be a recipe for disaster.

The State government is not proactive. The governor promised to take care of the burial and medical bills of those in the hospital. That's his priority. What's he doing with the security votes? The FG doesn't have the political will & capacity to solve the problem.
The attackers are on a land grabbing mission to occupy the fertile lands of the indigenous people. Well armed local vigilante groups across the State will repel & prevent further attacks. The governor needs to sit up. He's not doing much to secure his people.

Yea, to me the governor is weak. Why must your people be massacred in that way & all he does is just to ban grazing in the night. He shouldn't depend on federal security agencies. He should learn from experiences in the South. He should mobilize the locals to ensure their security. Once there is good communication among the locals with good emergency security response from the government, the incessant attacks will reduce. And all those caught in the act should be thoroughly investigated to get to the root of the crises and dealt with accordingly.
