I bet that nobody who witnessed Babangidas coup, and how unpopular it was, ever thought they will praise him for doing so at some point in the future... Everybody thought he simply toppled Nigerias Jerry Rawlings just to become a president..

When these guys chased this man away in 1985. .., the coup was so unpopular because of the so called fight against corruption led by Idiagbon.. So much so, that many hoped Babangida will be toppled and Buhari returned to power..

Take a look at what is happening today and you will know why God doesn't answer some prayers sometimes... It took Babangida months to consolidate power and if he wasn't a shrewd manipulator, he could easily have been eliminated as many people felt he toppled a "progressive, corruption fighting, egalitarian government" of Buhari! How wrong we are!
There's nationwide jubilation when Buhari's military government was overthrown by IBB mainly because of human rights abuses, inflation & poor economic policies.

Christians end prayers in the name of Jesus who is King of Kings. Christians believe in the Holy Trinity, that's what makes them different from others.

Four weeks after delivery you can resume sexual activities. Also a good time to commence contraceptives: progestogens ( implants, injectables etc.).

Does the MD Doctor have experience in vaccine production & does he have links to the vaccine producers. A businessman can easily get contacts with the producers & marketers because of he's ready to pay unlike the government bureaucracy that will delay procurement & involve a lot of kick backs.

Sadly,Reverend Kukah is speaking from both sides of the mouth if you compare what he said when his favoured PDP was in Power in 2014 and now. He is not consistent and sincere.
It is a lesson to those who speak from both sides of the mouth and play tricks with their influence.

Why was he condemning Nigerians lamenting over the incompetence and corruption of the monumental failure,Boko Haram LGA and petrol scarcity era GEJ PDP government that owed salaries for months then yet he was supporting then?

NIGERIANS URGED TO PERCEIVE THE COUNTRY IN POSITIVE CONCEPT

2014, Aug 05

Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah of Sokoto Diocese has called on Nigerians to eschew pessimism about the Nigerian nation and have a positive concept about the country and her people. The bishop made this call in a paper presentation at a lecture organized by the members of the Pyrates Confraternity to mark the 80th Birthday anniversary of Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka.

His words: “Nigerians love to criticize their country perhaps far more than any nation I know of in the world. Yes, we have all earned the right to be cynical and even contemptible about the way we have been governed, and about how the resources of our nation have been frittered away mindlessly. I am even more amused by the criticisms of some of our brethren in the Diaspora especially those who think that simply being abroad has set them apart from their fellow countrymen and women, those who believe that those of us who are here are so because we are not good enough to be abroad.”
Calling for a more positive orientation and thinking about the Nigerian nation, Bishop Kukah added:
“ It is about time we took off the gloves and speak honestly to ourselves about our future as a country, our mistakes, our fears, anxieties and deep hope. We are not the worst people on earth nor is our country the worst piece of God’s real estate. We have to seize this narrative and re-define ourselves.”

According to Bishop Kukah: “The measure of the greatness of a people or even individuals is based on how or where they stand in moments of trials and tribulations. Nigeria is going through such a phase now. Since the outbreak of the tragedy that is Boko Haram, one has seen another side of our citizens that is quite tragic. Rather than trying to stand together to rise beyond this in hope together, I find some of my fellow citizens creating more confusion and using the insurgency as weapons of politics.
He added: “The President and the security agencies have become the objects of attacks and vilification and yet, there is very little that is being done to point at the way forward. I know that as day follows night, we shall pull out of this tragedy that we face as a nation. But the least we can do is to stand in the comforts of highways and homes that someone else constructed and thrown stones at ourselves and our people simply because we are living off someone else’s sweat.”

The local ordinary of Sokoto Diocese pointed out that in spite of the criticisms of the country, she has produced globally acclaimed men and women geniuses who have distinguished themselves in different areas of social, academic and professional development. He added that what the country needs are new visionaries to set higher standards and “new dreamers with the necessary imagination to summon our people to greater tomorrow.”

While eulogizing the celebrant and appreciating his commendable achievements in making the society a better place through the work of arts and literature, Bishop Kukah challenged the new generation of writers to address the questions of the relationship between life and art.
His words: “What we now need is new generations of Nigerian artists who will make Life imitate Art. By doing this, they can hold before us a world that is not here, but is possible. They can offer us a vision of a society that is not here yet but one to which we can align our politics, religion and culture as a people. They can summon to bear our burden with joy, to conquer our darkness with courage. That is the only spirit that can summon us to say, Yes, we can and Yes, we Must. It is the only spirit that can bend the arc of justice in our direction.”

Even the blind can perceive the total failure of governance. During the time of GEJ was it not the northerner elders that accused him of killing their brothers (Boko Haram). If the nepotism in government yielded results nobody would've complained. The situation is getting out of hand, lives are lost daily & the security agencies are handicapped. What is the primary responsibility of government?

Improvement in transportation especially the train services is a welcome relief in respect to what have becomes of travelling via Nigerian roads.

However of what use is such a welcome development when this country is bring bedevilled by many signs of ill governance with deteriorating widespread insecurity, kidnapping, political assassinations, mass annihilation criminal element that government have no solution to, abject poverty, religious fanatism, bastardized economy/ Healthcare/Educational(ASUU strike) system among many with a rpresident that cant address or reassures his citizens?

Nigeria have a bigger problem than celebrating a train innovation that is another source of worry giving the ugly situations wherein they are now targets of bandits attack or breaking down in dangerous places?
Not a bad innovation. However, the security of lives & property is the primary function of any Government.

He doesn't need to be in the spirit to know that it is not well with the country & the leadership has failed: insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, economic recessive, bad roads, collapsing health & education sectors, food insecurity etc.

The guy got what he deserved by being nepotistic, killing Northerners and Westerners excluding his Eastern Brothers. He was the one that form Unitary Govt abolishing Regional Govt and Devolved Powers that his people are clamoring for today in the name of restructuring all because of greed and the grand plan to make his tribe to dominate other tribes in Nigeria.

His people started nepotism in Nigeria
You're ignorant of the facts. He was not the coup leader of 1966 but the Head of the Army. He became Head of State after the coup.
He made some mistakes: didn't prosecute the coup plotters & he abolished the regional government for the unitary rule we are operating now. The Northern officers were aggrieved because of his policies & due to the fact that some prominent Northern politicians & military officers were killed during the coup sparing the igbos including him & Ojukwu.

fratermathy:
I can personally verify the claims here and I'm not even an Akwa Ibomite (so as not to say I'm being partisan). Roads such as Udoette, Itu, Nelson Mandela, Urua Ekpa, and many others in the Itam axis are 100% terrible. These are not slums or villages. They form a central part of Uyo city. Infact, the University of Uyo campus in the city center directly borders on these roads.

Sometime ago, some contractors came to repair Nelson Mandela Road, and even made moves to tar a street off the road but after busybodying for some weeks, they abandoned the project.

Note that: Gov. Udom has been tarring roads in other parts of the city (notably the Oron road axis). However, he seems to be defiant on repairing the roads in the Itam axis. These are major roads which visitors may see and they don't tell good of the giant strides Akwa Ibom State has made. If only I could snap the roads here. What the OP posted is just a tip of the iceberg as he didn't snap the major roads. Itu Road is so bad that motorists have to take a longer route just to avoid the bad spots. These roads do not even need repairs or patching. They need complete overlay.

The road problem in the Itam axis of Uyo also manifests in the electricity supply. The outages and load shedding in the Itam axis is so bad that one cannot help but wonder how it got from being one of the best in Nigeria to its abysmal state.

The problem is political. Even when Akpabio was the Governor, it was the same issue.

But because of the love and unity in the north... We share the pains of these states protesting and demanding for a secured north.

But bigots online and offline would come to tell us how the whole northern states has been terrorized.

Once there is kidnapping in any village in Zamfara.

They will come online to tell how there is kidnapping in the north... They will never mention zamfara.

They will never tell you people were kidnapped in a village in Zamfara or Kastina rather they would say north.

They're doing all this to send a signal that the whole of Northern states are unsafe.

Gombe is one of the safest state in Nigeria.

Bauchi is safe!!

Kano is safe!!

Adamawa is safe!!

Yobe is safe!!

Jigawa is safe!!

Kebbi is safe!!

Taraba is safe!!

And other northern states that hardly record case of robbery in a year.

The north is a region with 16 core northern states.

But children of hate would come online to tell the world how unsafe the whole northern region is.

The way you bigots always scream north up and down makes me believe that majority of u think that north is a state not a region.

You guys should stop all this senseless stereotypes!

My state kano is more developed and peaceful than the entire Eastern states put together.
Most Northern States are not safe: Taraba, Adamawa, Nassarawa, Kaduna (kidnapping), Borno, Yobe, Katsina (insurgency), Benue (heardsmen attack), Zamfara (banditry) etc.

A 27 year old. His parents unknown in the political space. Kidnapped by six men in Africa.
Rescued by Naval Seals.
All he did to qualify, was to be an American.

On the contrary, 43 men of varying ages. Taken from their farms and beheaded in their country.
No rescue, outrage or justice.
All they did to qualify, were to be Nigerians.
Yet we have a government with the bulk of the budget allocated for defence & some officials allocated unaudited security votes monthly.

In 2012, when the NEEDS assessment of 16 universities were carried out, after much pressure, the government came out to say that it agreed with N1.3 trillion to be released over a period of six years, starting with the sum of N200 million in 2013. That was the only tranche the government released, which was spread over five years. Since 2017, we have been saying that the government should go back to pay the balance or come up with a new schedule for paying the balance of N1.1 trillion. The best we have got from the government was the release of N25 billion, then N20 billion as a sign of commitment, which does not address the fundamental issues because the spirit behind the MoU of 2013, which the Federal Government signed with ASUU, was the need to massively inject funds into public universities, but there are problems in terms of facilities and human capacities, among others.

If this does not explain to you why ASUU doesn't trust the Govt. I don't know what else will.
I mean, since 2013? An agreement reached has not been honoured? This shows the uncaring attitude that this Govt. not only towards education, but towards healthcare and security..which are vital foundations on which any successful society is built.

I weep for my country..governed by wickedness in the highest and lowest of places. cry
What is going on is a shame. Lots of Nigerian students now go abroad to study. The truth: the educational system needs reforms in terms of policies & curricula & funding.
The refusal of ASUU to be enrolled on IPPIS platform is due to selfish reasons to cover up fraud & multiple employment of officers in several institutions.
This is the price we pay for poor governance & leadership.

Your write up is well scripted. However, you have failed to address the main issues: who are the killers & what is their motives? Why is the government unable to stop the crisis?

What comes to my mind is the crisis that erupted in southern Kaduna in 2018 when the governor was already airborne. He had to U-turn to Kaduna and spent 48 hours thereafter without sleep, going round the state for assessments and enforcement of curfew and intermittently having security meetings.

But as usual some people are committed to hating him for what he does because it never favors them

The WHO can only recommend but does not have authority to stop Russia from distributing the vaccines. Each nation can either accept or reject the vaccines. Obtaining an informed consent of patients is very important. Once that is done, they are good to go on with the vaccination.
