Your assertions that anybody that finishes with a third class is not mentally sound is very poorly thought out ,there are many reasons apart from intellectual deficit that might make a person finish with a lower degree than others ..In the course of life I have worked with many people that finshed with lower degrees that were actually a lot more proactive and smarter than those that finshed with higher class of degrees which is one of the reasons dropouts and so called third Class people tend to do better in life than those that finish with better degree. They tend to become creators, pathfinders , innovators and game changers while those who finish with higher degrees achieve very little after getting a good job because they are quick to feel entitled that the world owes them alot just because they made higher grades at some school and truly the world owes them nothing but a Job and nothing else .

Going by you premise people like Tony Elumelu, Gani Fawehini, Ulysses Grant , Jack Ma and many other trail blazers who the school system considered dull should have been thrown away and left to waste... Your Certificate is only there for you to compete in the work place and that's why people like Dino are Senators today while their course mates are still grinding it out in one Bank or the other. When I saw the thread heading, I knew Pythagoras would be the #1. That eqn birthed the geometry aspect of mathematics.

Let me tell you a story.

When I was in js2, I left the school hostel and travelled home. Unfortunately, I met no one at home as my parents travelled (there was no handset then). I had to return to school the next morning after sleeping in my neighbours place. I didn't have a dime left on me as I had hoped to get some cash from home. On getting to the bus stop, I pleaded with a passenger to allow me sit on his laps so i wont have to pay transport fare. It was a small car, owned by young lad who wanted to make quick cash. When the car got moving, he insisted that i pay inasmuch as i wasnt occupying any seat. The passengers were furious at him.

After few minutes of arguing, he said that if only his passengers were science students, they will understand that irrespective of the fact that I wasn't occupying a seat, I still need to pay. That was the last thing he said, he didn't collect money from me but that statement stuck to my mind.

It wasn't until ss2 when I studied Newton's laws of motion that I understood perfectly what the young driver meant. Especially the mathematical derivatives of Newton's 2nd law where F = ma. It became clear that for the moving car under constatn acceleration, more force (fuel) would be needed if the mass increases. I was increasing the sum total of mass,m in his car and as such, he would need to burn more fuel to maintain acceleration.

Mathematic eqns become more interesting when it is applied; that is why engineering is the best course to study. Application of mathematical and science principles become alive when you design your first plant

Even though most middle and upper-middle class Nigerians prefer cooking with gas,the need for kerosene has not been completely eliminated. A lot of middle class citizens still use kerosene for cooking alongside gas. So, if you are thinking of going into kerosene retail business, demand is certainly not a problem.

Requirements
Some of the things that you would need to start your kerosene business include-:

1. Certification
You cannot just start kerosene business without proper registration and licensing. You need to register your business with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC).

Upon registration, you would receive a certificate which would permit you to buy your kerosene in wholesale directly from the NNPC. This makes it possible for you to have access to products cheaply. However, this process takes time and of course, would cost you money.

But if you want the easy way out, you can become an indirect marketer. As an indirect marketer, you would source for your products from registered marketers. Although, you would get products at a more expensive rate compared to buying directly from the depot.

2. Location
You need a strategic location to sell your products. Some kerosene marketers own filling stations which they use in selling kerosene alongside other petroleum products but if you cannot afford to build yourself a station, you can just set up a depot in a safe place.

I have even seen people set up kerosene mini-depots in front of their homes. However, you must take issues of safety very seriously if you decide to go with this option.

3. Dispensing Pump
To make it easy for you to sell your product, you should get an automatic dispensing pump. You can easily get them from dealers in major Nigerian cities.

However, if you still don’t know where to get one, you can try to ask from people who are already into the business; they can easily point you in the direction where they got theirs.

An automatic dispensing pump would make your job really easy as you would be able to easily measure your products and charge your customers correctly.

4. Petroleum Tanker
This is only necessary for people who are starting kerosene business on a large scale. If you have registered with PPMC and DPR and want to be buying your products directly from the depot even start supplying other kerosene sub-dealers, you would need a petroleum tanker to move your products around easily.

5. Capital
The amount you need to start a kerosene business would depend on the scale you wish to operate. With about N200, 000, you can set up a small-scale kerosene business in your neighborhood or somewhere close. But if you want to operate this business on a large scale, you should be ready to spend at least 1 million naira.

I think nigerians have very very short memory. We are so quick to forget. And to answer your question, yes Nigeria has had it worst! We have been living on a system fueled by corruption and impunity! Ask yourself this, is it not the same oil revenue nigeria earned that dubai used to build the burj (world tallest building), finland used to creation 100% employment, free education and saudi was able to save more than $800billion in external reserves. Nigeria is the 6th largest producer of oil, but what did we have to show for it in the last 16yrs

Pls lets be realistic. Things must change and change is not easy or automatic. There must be pain before there is gain!
