Below is a Press Statemenr from the Ministry of Information and Culture;

My attention has been drawn to a press conference addressed by the Ilorin Emirate Magaji/Alangua Forum in Ilorin on Tuesday, 4 Dec. 2018, during which I was alleged to have said that the 'Berlin Wall' of the Ilorin Emirate had been broken by the outcome of the 17 Nov. 2018 by-election in the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.

Those who made the allegation referred to a news item published in The Nation newspaper of Monday, 19 Nov. 2018, entitled ''Kwara Berlin Wall Broken, Says Lai Mohammed''.

While it is indeed true that I mentioned the Berlin Wall in my speech at the victory rally in my country home in Oro on Sunday, 18 Nov. 2018, it was undoubtedly in reference to the stranglehold of the Saraki political dynasty on Kwara politics. Not once did I mention the Ilorin Emirate during that speech, and I challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to release such. It is instructive that the news item that was referenced by those who made the allegation never mentioned Ilorin Emirate or made any reference to the traditional institution.

It is safe to conclude, therefore, that those who tried to inject the Ilorin Emirate into the whole issue acted out of shameful desperation. This is not a surprise, considering that they are yet to recover from the devastating defeat that they suffered in the by-election.

For the record, I hold the Ilorin Emirate, and indeed all our nation's traditional institutions, in very high esteem, and will never do anything to bring them to disrepute. No candidate for any political office in Kwara State will downplay the importance of the Ilorin Emirate, which is a father to all. Those who are grappling at straws, having realized that their hegemonic hold on Kwara State is coming to an end, are the instigators of this lie from hell that the Berlin Wall of the Emirates has been broken.

The traditional chiefs who echoed the fake news concocted by the fading political warlords of Kwara should be wary of doing anyone's hatchet jobs. They should not allow themselves to be used to denigrate the reverred Ilorin Emirate, which should be absolutely non-partisan. The traditional chiefs must realize that it is only by standing up for truth and justice that they can most effectively play their role of maintaining the 'ever solid wall of peace, unity, progress and stability' in the Emirate.

The defeat suffered by the tormentors of Kwara on 17 Nov. 2018 is a sign of what they should expect in the forthcoming general elections in the state. No amount of lies or other acts of desperation will save them from imminent defeat. Power flows from the people, and it is clear that the people of Kwara have totally rejected those who have appropriated the state's commonwealth to themselves to the detriment of the long suffering people of Kwara State.

Details have emerged on the meeting between Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, PDP chairman, Uche Secondus, Ex-jigawa governor, Sule Lamido and other ranking PDP chieftains.

PoliticsNGR earlier reported that the politicians met at Nicon Luxury Hotel on Tuesday to discuss fresh plans towards the 2019 Elections.

Sources privy to details of the meeting disclosed that the meeting was deeply based on strategies that would enable Atiku emerge victorious in next year's general elections.

The meeting reviewed the ongoing zonal campaigns of the party, which was said to come before for the state-by-state campaign that would follow.

Obasanjo used the meeting to reconcile Atiku and ex-governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako. Nyako was a member of the party before joining the APC. He also settled Atiku's rift with his former aide, Dr. Umar Ardo.

This development, sources say, has solidified Atiku's powerbase in Adamawa state. It is believed that with these rifts settled, Atiku might clinch the state in next year's election.

However, PDP chairman, Uche Secondus declined to comment or take questions from newsmen after the meeting.

National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar as 'unfit' to rule Nigeria.

PoliticsNGR learned that Tinubu made the comment while delivering a Keynote address at a meeting of the National Consultative Forum organized by the national Committee of Buhari Support Groups held yesterday in Abuja.

Tinubu described Atiku as “a merry-go-round and carnival-like politician with no focus or mission.” In his words;

“Atiku could build a house of the party membership cards he has accumulated. But one thing he should remember is that a man who builds a house of cards ought not to cast stones at a man who is building a house with a firm and true foundation.

He should also realise that such a feeble house will collapse as soon as the wind of truth blows it.”

He also attacked Atiku’s campaign pledge to ensure 14 million new jobs yearly, and crashing of fuel pump price, describing them as lies that have no basis for actualisation.

The APC leader berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo for suddenly doing a somersault to endorse Atiku’s presidential bid after vowing never to support him, saying the move by the former president to mend fences with his former deputy was not a sincere one.

He dismissed the PDP’s call for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, describing it as blackmail.

Tinubu also spoke on the role being played by Senate President Bukola Saraki in the opposition party, describing him as a sell-out, who used APC’s mandate to negotiate with the opposition.

He said that the President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 general Election adding that his administration has done well in fighting Boko Haram and handling the economy.

Popular ABC talkshow host, Jimmy Kimmel has reacted to the recent clone rumours surrounding President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kimmel, during a segment of his show recently, mocked President Buhari over his recent tweets that he was not a clone.

President Buhari had tweeted that 'Its the real me' adding that he would be celebrating his 76th birthday shortly, to which Kimmel said "That's exactly what a clone would say".

A Lady simply identified as Amina Mohammed caused a mild drama at the office of the department of state security services, DSS in Abuja earlier today.

PoliticsNGR learned that the lady accused of impersonating the first lady, Aisha Buhari, shocked the press and officials of the DSS when she mentioned the First lady's sister and former SGF, Babachir lawal as accomplices in the Fraud.

Addressing journalists, Public Relations Officer of the service, Peter Afunaya, said the DSS arrested the suspect, Amina Mohammed also known as Justina Oluoha, for parading herself as the First Lady of Kogi State.

He said Amina defrauded one Dr. Alexander Chika Okafor (a.k.a. Chicason) of N50million in the villa with respect to a Court of Appeal property in Lagos. He added that Amina had promised to help him buy the property through the First Lady.

The property was said to have been part of those under the Presidential Implementation Committee on Lease of Federal Government Properties.

"She used the false identity to evade protocol and security scrutiny, thus gaining unauthorised access into the villa and particularly the residence of the First Lady and Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari," he said.

"She took advantage of the fact that personalities of first ladies, ministers and certain categories of officials are not known through rigorous protocol and security checks at the Villa posts.

"Investigations have shown that this unholy enterprise is not to the knowledge of the First Lady. What Amina simply did was to use the First Lady's name and office as bait to lure and defraud her victims."

The suspect, on the other hand, was crying profusely and raining curses on the first lady. She said;

"Your sisters are involved in this business. It is not true; I cannot be a fraudster. I cannot accept this allegation. Former SGF Babachir is involved in this fraud. Maryatu, your sister, is involved in this fraud.

"Chicason has been buying government property and he has been doing it. All the directors who collected bribes before bidding would be out. Chikason knows the process. Entering villa is not just by fraud but Maryatu, the First Lady's sister, is involved."

Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun says he will remain in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the senatorial election in 2019 while ensuring the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He, however, said aggrieved party members who defected to the Allied People’s Movement (APM) have his blessings.

Amosun spoke on Monday in Abeokuta at a stakeholders meeting of the APC which was attended by his preferred governorship candidate and the flagbearer of APM, Adekunle Akinlade.

The governor ’s declaration came as 26 aggrieved candidates of the APC loyal to the governor announced their defection to the APM. Amosun said he had tried his best to stop the defection of Akinlade and other aggrieved candidates.

He vowed to use everything within his capacity to ensure the success of Akinlade and other aggrieved members in their new party.

Amosun also said that he would not support the governorship candidate of the APC, Dapo Abiodun.

“When these people came, they told me they are leaving the APC, I said ‘no’ but I couldn’t stop them. In fact, Akinlade has my full support.

” I am not going to stop him, everything I have, I will use to support him, let them try whatever they want to try, we also have our strategies and I am not going to hide behind one finger.

“I remain in APC because that’s what those people want, they want us to leave APC but they are joking.

“ I will stay in APC to ensure that Buhari wins in Ogun State and to let them know that they can’t subvert the will of the state.

“Every day, I will campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari, we will do everything possible to ensure Buhari wins massively in Ogun, but they should not miss it.

“ I, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, will not support anyone they are bringing,” he said.

Amosun, who vowed to resist rigging in the state, also pledged to check violence in the electoral process.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Adekunle Temitope, popularly known as Small Doctor, for unlawful possession of firearms and for allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer.

Edgal Imohimi, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, revealed this to the press on Monday while parading the musician along with three other persons.

PoliticsNGR learned that Small Doctor was arrested on allegations that he threatened a Police officer who was on traffic duty along Oshodi, Lagos.

“It was alleged that some unknown men, four of them, in an unregistered green SUV had brought out a gun and threatened a policeman that if he does not leave the road, they will shoot him," Imohimi said.

"Believing that they were armed robbers, I sent out my men and fortunately, with the DPO in charge of Shogunle division, they were able to intercept them and the men were arrested and were brought down to the headquarters for interrogation.

“It was then discovered that one of them is the same Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor'. They were arrested in possession of a functional rifle, cartridge and some of their personal belongings."

According to the commissioner, 'Small Doctor' had earlier been involved in a similar offence and is currently under investigation for firing live ammunition at the Agege stadium after a show on November 27.

He said: “Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor', was arrested and taken to the state CID for questioning. He was alleged to have fired a gun; the pellets from the gun injured four people who were rushed to the hospital.”

'Small Doctor' will be charged to court for prosecution.

Hon. Zango, who represents Zangon Daura Local Government Area of the state in the house, defeated four (4) other members to clinch the state’s third highest political office with a close margin.

Those who contested for the position with him but were defeated are members representing Mani, Daura, Kusada and Baure.

It could be recalled that the position of the Katsina State House of Assembly Speaker became vacant after the immediate past speaker, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada won Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa Federal Constituency bye-election in November, 2018.

Twenty-six lawmakers from the Ogun State House of Assembly have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Lamidi Olatunji, spokesperson of the lawmakers, said they “have come to inevitable conclusion to actualise their ambitions in APM".

The aspirants would join Adekunle Akinlade, a favoured candidate of Ibikunle Amosun, Govenor of Ogun State, who had also defected to APM last week.

Akinlade had lost the APC governorship ticket to Dapo Abiodun.

Speaking on the defection of the lawmakers on Monday, Olatunji said: “We also wish to acknowledge the fatherly role of President Muhammadu Buhari in seeking to sustain the tenets of democracy, fairness and equity in the resolution of the crisis in Ogun APC.

“We regret that Mr President’s efforts were frustrated by the forces that are hellbent on taking the South-West back to the dark age of slavery, where unelected kingpins direct the affairs of the people.”

President Muhammadu Buhari met with Governors from the South-East earlier today at the State House in Abuja.

PoliticsNGR learned that Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was also present at the meeting.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Nkem Okeke, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State were also present.

However, Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha was noticeably absent at the meeting. It will be recalled that Okorocha is currently at loggerheads with the leadership of the party over the non-emergence of his in-law, Uche Nwosu as the APC governorship candidate in the upcoming 2019 elections.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has inaugurated Conflict resolution committees for the 6 geopolitical zones of the country.

The committees will look into the various crisis rocking the party in each of the zones and draft strategies to fix them.

PoliticsNGR gathered that the committees were inaugurated at a special ceremony by the National Chairman His Excellency Adams Oshiomole in the presence of other national executives of the party, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ganduje will be assisted by Governor Simon Lalong as the Vice Chairman, while Governor Kayode Fayemi, Sen Godswill Apkabio, Alhaji Umaru Dembo, Alhaji Nasiru Aliko Koki, and Mrs Ify Okoye will serve as members of the zonal committee.

North Central will be chaired by Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, North West by Abiola Ajimobi, North East, Governor Tanko Almakura, South West by Governor Kashim Shettima while South-South will be chaired by Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola.

The Nigerian Presidency has reacted to a statement credited to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar on how he sold firewood as an orphan.

Atiku had on Monday while unveiling his campaign policy document titled, ‘The Atiku plan’ narrated a story of how he started out selling firewood as an orphan in Adamawa before he got rich.

He was quoted as saying: “I started out as an orphan selling firewood on the streets of Jada in Adamawa, but God, through the Nigerian state, invested in me and here I am today. If Nigeria worked for me, I owe it as my duty to make sure that Nigeria also works for you.”

But, reacting, social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, on Wednesday lambasted the former vice president, describing his statement as lies, urging Nigerians not to trust the former Vice President.

Onochie questioned how Atiku became an orphan in 1984 when he was rich at the age of 38.

She further opined that it’s disrespectful and insulting to Nigerians for a candidate or anyone to lie to them.

Onochie on her Facebook page wrote: “Atiku cannot be trusted; I started life as an Orphan in Jada”-Abubakar Atiku (BIG FAT LIE)

“ORPHAN-a child whose parents (Father and mother) are dead. In his book, MY LIFE (2013 pg 30) refers: Atiku said his mother died in 1984. This was when he was 38 years. He was old enough to buy mum a house.

“What’s the point of this lie? To deceive Nigerians and get their sympathy? It’s disrespectful and insulting to Nigerians for a candidate or anyone to lie to them.

“He is saying we are too gullible to find out the truth. No, we are not. President Buhari nor Vice President Osinbajo will never lie to Nigerians.”

PoliticsNGR has just learned that 2 federal lawmakers have dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The members identified as Kolawole Babatunde (Ondo) and Mukaila Kazeem (Ogun), resigned from the ruling party on Wednesday, November 21.

The lawmakers' resignations letter were read by the speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, during plenary on Wednesday, November 21. 

It was further gathered that Babatunde defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic (PDP), while Kazeem did not name his new party.

The lawmakers blame their defections on how the party handled its controversial primaries election.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria(IMN) alias Shiites has said that the Nigerian army can not face its members if they have weapons.

PoliticsNGR gathered that during a Press conference on Monday,  the group spoke on its recent clash with Soldiers in Abuja.

The leader of the group, Abdullahi Zango, accused the Nigerian army of "fabricating lies cooked up to cover their atrocities". In his words;

“They continue to say that we are armed, this is a blatant lie. If we are armed, Nigeria army cannot face us.

“If we have weapons with us, Nigeria army is too small to face us. With our courage and brevity, with empty hands, they are running away from us talk less of when we have arms.

“They know that we are not armed because they are cowards.”

He disclosed that the group has paid N8 million in hospital bills for 106 Shiites receiving treatment in various hospitals in Abuja.

Zango added that the group does not regret throwing stones at the security agents during the clash, saying it is the only weapon of the defenceless.

He said: “The situation of throwing stones at them, yes it is the weapon of somebody who is not armed.”

Ex-Governor of Ekiti State,  Ayodele Fayose, has said the federal government must bury the idea of plotting to increase the pump price of petrol from N145 per litre to N185 in March next year, saying: “Nigerians have suffered enough in the hands of the APC government and won’t accept any further upward review of petrol pump price.”

Fayose described the planned increment as a way of taking back whatever that is added to workers’ salary as minimum wage increment

In a statement released by his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, Fayose stated;

 “They are delaying the increment till March because of its effects on the February 2019 elections.”

“Smuggling is an outdated excuse for increasing petrol pump rice, it will no longer be accepted by Nigerians.

“Nigerians are suffering. Millions of jobs have been lost and even many of those still employed are not gainfully employed. The federal government must not add to the burden of the suffering masses by increasing the pump price of petrol as being planned.”

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has silently appointed his Son-in-law, Junaid Abdullahi as the head of Nigeria's Border Communities Development Agency, PoliticsNGR has learned.

According to Premium Times, Abdullahi was married to President Buhari's first daughter, Zulaihat, who passed away in 2012 from complications developed during childbirth at the age of 40.

The retired army captain quietly resumed duties on October 18, taking over from Ummai Idakwo, the former director of the agency.

According to a Government Source, the appointment was likely hushed in order to save the President from accusations of Nepotism. President Buhari has been plagued with accusations of nepotism since 2015 from critics who believe his appointments were lopsided.

Nigeria's minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola has said that he will never use Tax Payers' money to fund President Muhammadu Buhari's 2019 presidential campaign ahead of next year's elections.

PoliticsNGR gathered that Fashola made this comment while speaking in Sokoto after a 2-day retreat for Management staff of the ministry.

He revealed that he got dozens of requests from political organizations requesting for campaign funds for President Muhammadu Buhari's 2019 campaign.

In his words;

"Certainly not under my watch, this will happen. We never did it and we will not do it."

"Campaign needs money but members of the Public must understand that government is not a place for people who want to play politics to expect that funding will come from" he said.

A young lady has reportedly poisoned a Family of Five for refusing to give her "Efo Riro" to eat.

PoliticsNGR gathered from the social media page of an Eyewitness, Chikezie Dozie, that one person has died from the poisoning.

The girl used a pesticide to poison a meal served to members of the family. The remaining four are currently battling for their lives in an undisclosed hospital.

All Unions in the Nigerian Aviation industry are set to participate in a planned Strike by Labour unions all over the country scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 6th.

PoliticsNGR gathered that the unions backed the agitations of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC), Trade Union Congress(TUC) and the United Labour Congress (ULC) to ensure that workers were appropriately paid their wages.

The unions: National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) and the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) in a notice dated November 3, 2018, said that they would participate actively in the strike to call for improved wages for members.

The notice was signed by Comrades Temenu Akinola (NUATE), Frances Akinjole (ATSSSAN), Ocheme Aba (NAAPE) and Abdulrasaq Saidu for ANAP.

They stated that the Nigerian airspace would be shut down from 12 am on November 6, 2018.

The notice also applied to all businesses and agencies involved with aviation

The notice read in part: “In complying with the directive of the labour centers, therefore, we issue this notice to all workers in the aviation sector to withdraw all services from 00:00hrs of November 6, 2018.

“The notice also applies to all businesses and agencies involved with aviation to be aware of the above situation and adjust business accordingly. The general public, especially the international traveling public, are equally notified to avoid, or cancel, plans to utilize workers in the aviation sector.

“For emphasis, all workers must comply with this directive as our unions will not tolerate any sabotage of the strike.”

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has been removed as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the State.

PoliticsNGR learnt that at a stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on Saturday, Fayose was removed as the leader of the party in the state whileSenate Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi, was confirmed as PDP’s new leader in Ekiti State and Southwest region.

Olujimi is the party’s highest ranking political office holder in the southwest geo-political zone.

They asked for the immediate dissolution of the present State Working Committee (SWC) led by the state PDP Chairman, Mr. Gboyega Oguntuase, and demanded the constitution of a caretaker committee. These are part of the resolutions reached at Ekiti PDP Stakeholders Meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital, and attended by serving and former political office holders.

Party chieftains who attended the meeting included Olujimi, former Deputy Governor, Dr. Sikiru Lawal; former Acting Governor, Mr. Olatunji Odeyemi; Ekiti Assembly Deputy Speaker, Mr. Segun Adewumi; former state PDP Chairman, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo; governorship aspirants, former National Assembly members, former State Assembly members, former local government chairmen and former party officers.

Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Senator Olujimi explained that Fayose was excluded from the meeting owing to the fact that he had just been released from detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial fraud.

“We knew what he might have passed through by staying in detention and we know it might not be easy for him to attend this meeting, so there is no faction at all in our party. My being appointed the Leader does not mean there is crisis.

“The very day he left office was the day he was summoned by EFCC and we knew the rigour he had passed through. We are going to work together, I mean with former Governor Fayose. What we are doing is that we don’t want to allow his exit from office to mean the end of PDP in Ekiti. So, let me assure our supporters that we are on the same page with former Governor Fayose and other stakeholders. We are not factionalised and we shall work hard and ensure we win in next year’s election,” she said.

Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye received fresh decampees from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP earlier yesterday at Odo Ape ward of Kabba/Bunu LG area of the state.

Information reaching the PoliticsNGR newsdesk this evening reveals that Sen. Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central) has joined People’s Redemption Party (PRP), three days after he left the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sani made this known in a statement by his Special Adviser, Political and Ideology, Mr Suleiman Ahmed, in Abuja.

He said that “It has become impossible for the senator to continue to co-habit with reactionaries and their perfidious and inimical style of politics.

“Sen. Sani maintains the highest respect and honour for President Muhammadu Buhari. However, we prefer to live in a Cottage of Honour than a mansion of shame.

“Sen. Shehu Sani has returned to the PRP. PRP represents our socialist revolutionary ideology.

“Sen. Sani is now free from the toxicity and infamy APC existentially represents. We left the APC for the emperors and their lackeys.”

Confirming the development, the Kaduna State Chairman of the party, Dr Tom Maiyashi, said the lawmaker is now a member of the party.

Maiyashi said the lawmaker had been duly registered and offered membership card of the party.

He stressed that “Sen. Shehu Sani has registered with the party and his ward is Kaduna South.’’

Nigeria's minister for Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the Abuja-Kaduna rail line cannot run faster than 90Km/hr because the ministry does not want locomotives to kill cows.

PoliticsNGR learned that Amaechi made this comment while speaking on the complications the Nigerian government faces while making concessions.

He broke down the various problems being faced by the Country's rail system adding that Nigeria has more than enough to transport via rail.

In his words;

"The reason why we want to go back to narrow gauge is because between Lagos and Kano, we have 30 million tonnes of cargo. Even if you do three rail lines, it cannot be enough.

It took us 14 days to move coaches from Lagos to Abuja; everyday we go and ask, how far, they say we are near Ogun state… 14 days.

But if it were rail, the same day, it will get to Abuja. The kind of construction we are doing is 120 kilometers per hour (Km/h), it is a speed train.

We are doing 90km/h with Abuja to Kaduna, the reason we are doing 90km/h is because there are cows everywhere, and we don’t want to kill cows. The other day they tried 100 and they killed how many cows, and they said ‘you people should replace the cows you killed.

From that day, I have said let us maintain the 90km/h; at 120km/h you get to Kaduna in one hour. You can work in Kaduna and live in Abuja. It was initially one, but now, we have done four locomotives with 14 coaches."

Two personal security guards who attacked and robbed Innoson Motors lawyer, Professor McCarty Mbadugha have been captured, PoliticsNGR has gathered.

The guards made the confession after their arrest by the Lagos State police command.

A statement from the Spokesman for the Command, Chike Oti reveal that investigations are still ongoing.

“The Lagos State Police Command is investigating two security guards, Kingsley Okon Asuquo, 19 and Isaac Edet, 18, assigned to guard a Lagos lawyer, Prof. McCarty Mbadugha, from Strongcity Security Services but ended up attacking and robbing the same man that hired them for protective services,” it reads.

The operation was a follow-up to information received on October 13, 2018, from a source that armed bandits held one Barrister Joseph Mbadugha aka Professor McCarty Mbadugha, hostage in his office at JohnVic Igbanogo street, Lekki Phase one, Lagos; that the armed men were seen wearing Strongcity Security Services uniform.

Police said that based on the information, operatives from Maroko Police Station and FSARS Ikeja, jointly mobilized to the scene, and gave the bandit a chase and one of them, who gave his name as Isaac Edet, was nabbed at the scene.

“During interrogation, he mentioned and led detectives to arrest his partner in crime, one Kingsley Asuquo.

Interestingly, both suspects are staff of Strongcity Security Services attached to the victim. They claimed the victim does not pay their salary as at when due, hence they planned with others at large to rob him,” the statement said.

Items recovered from them are a bag containing laptop computer, cash sum of forty thousand Naira (N40,000.00), three cheque booklets, one iPhone-6. All these items were recovered from the thieves in the course of investigation.

We need to restate as directed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of The PDP that the 2019 election should be issue based, deviod of slandering and name calling.

We hold the view that unguarded narrative hurts the country and further divides us as a people.

Elections comes every 4 years in our country and if great effort is not taken, we could hurt the country and its people needlessly and invariably our democracy.

On our part we have signed up to running an issue based campaign and if it is not too hard for the Muhammad Buhari administration and the APC to understand, we call on you to do the same.

There is greater value in doing so. Nigeria is the most populous black nation on earth and we owe it to ourselves and the black race to be above board.

We are trying to present our idea on how the country should be led and not interested in anything else. And by so doing, set Nigeria and its people on the path of working again.

Embattled former governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose reportedly bought food for 150 people detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Fayose, who is also in EFCC detention, is facing charges of money laundering and abuse of office. In a tweet on his twitter timeline, the PDP chieftain was said to have displayed his "Stomach infrastructure" initiative in the detention facility with the kind gesture.

The tweet read;

"In his usual characteristics, Fayose took his Stomach Infrastructure to the EFCC office in Lagos today as he provided food for over 150 people (detainees and visitors).

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigerians who feel they have another country may choose to go, adding that others who do not have another country would rather stay back and salvage it together.

The President's comments are coming a day after Pro-secession leader and head of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu gave a live broadcast.
