Hello All, a wonderful thread here. Awaiting my Copr but need one or two advice on the career paths i could pursue in canada
I am an Electrical engineering technologists and i mainly have my experience in Oil and gas (1.5 yrs) and Computer hardware & Newtworking (0.5 yr). I only have certifications in oil and gas but i would love to switch to IT or computer hardware.
I am also aware I need to be registered professionally to practice as a technologist. So how easy can I get a job in IT with my experience?
Not yet sure where to settle but I am considering BC, Manitoba & Ontario. what are the career prospects in these provinces? |

XX01: I know this is late and you have probably taken a decision on what to do but the info can help others in your shoes.
The validity of the visa is usually the earlier of medicals passed date or the passport expiry date. CIC requires that your passport should be valid for more than 6 months at the point of application i.e. AOR. So, instead of giving you a visa that expires after 1 year of medicals passed, they would have given you a visa expiring as at the date of your passport expiration date.
I hope I wasn't too confusing. i eventually got my passport renewed and have sent it to Accra. So I expect the validity to be at one year of medical passed. Thanks for your contributions |

ugoiyke79e: So so happy for you!!!! Congrats deary and yes u should get a new passport because the old one will most likely be returned. Besides u don't want to be under duress to travel at a certain rigid date. I changed my passport just before ppr so I has a request and placeholder for it. In your own case, I suggest u send a cse, email Ottawa first for extension and then for updating the new passport, still send it via cse, attach it in an email to Ottawa,( send both old and new passports with a LOE to Ghana.- if u get it back before the deadline ) Thank you so much ugoiyke79e, I got my renewed passport yesterday. I did all u mentioned above and even attached my new passport to both the CSE & the Ottawa mail. I have sent both passports to Accra today. |

kunmi5: Hi Kissoflife & everybody, What of if the source of gift deep is ovrrseas. For instance, mine is about 90% of the POF and from my Mum who is a canadian resident. As it is, she is the one to notatise it in Canada since she is the originator right? Kindly respond similar case to mine. I got part of my POF overseas. just draft the gift deed letter, get her to sign her part and print. then u can notarize it here. You will print your bank SOA too, so they will confirm that your mom transferred it to you. |

cochtrane: You needn't be so pedantic about it. If I were you, I'd sent my passport. It's still some six months away from June 18, isn't it? If you'd like to extend though, send your mail to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca It is actually a little less than 6 months and I was told the passport my be returned to me. Anyway I have started processing a new passport and should still meet the deadline. I guess I have to explain that I have a new passport with a different number, do I write a letter explaining this to the same email above? Thanks in advance |

elfmann: If u can get it in two days.. No need for an extension, unless there is another thing to this. I already raised a CSE for an extension. I was unaware it is possible to get it within a week. Anyway, I will submit as soon as I get the renewal since I am still safe. What I am unsure of is if the passport number will still be the same and if I would need to report any changes |

cochtrane: 1. Yes. You surely can write them to extend the deadline for passport submission. I think you'd need to provide valid reasons for this though, like evidence of travel, etc. One certainly can't send a passport they don't have yet.
2. I think the rule about medicals still stands. That one is set in stone.
Well, about the medicals expiring mid-way. I'm guessing they'll probably request that you redo it. They often require this of people whose medicals expire before issuance of PPR. So, am guessing that'd be the way to go. I am confused Who do i write to? I dont know my visa office. Do I reply the PPR mail? |

Hello All,
I just got PPR and I was told my passports should be valid for 6 months. My current passport expires in June 18th 2018 which is now less than six months.
I have an option to take the risk and send my passport or renew .
Now the question;
I am given 15 days to submit my passport, how do I ask for extension to renew my passport?

boldinc: Congrats... There's a DHL office on Joel Ogunnaike in GRA, Ikeja... Just next to UBA. You need N19,600 (try go with cash). There's another office on Allen Avenue, but you may have to google the address.
The instructions of steps to take are in your letter:
2 passport photos (One stamped with addresses and name of photo studio) PPR Letter IMM008 form (If family config changed) Height, eye color, etc form filled.
Hope this helps. Yes , thank you! |

Hello everyone. Please I need your input on the following:
I just received a PPR (passport request) from IRCC but i'm a little confused as to how i will go about sending my passport out and paying for the service fee. Could someone please walk me through what i need to do and include to send my passport out. i dont want to make a mistake.. I plan to use DHL.
So here are my questions:
1. Where is the location of DHL at Ikeja
2. Procedure for submitting passport and other documents
