Yesterday my cab driver told me a story. Tribalists sorry o. The guy is Yoruba. He told me abt his Igbo fiancee who him loved like no another woman in his life. Infact he was almost crying as he narrated the story. This was a lady that he had completed all the traditional marriage rites and was already liviing with. He single handedly opened a hair salon for her and equiped it well. He always made sure that lacked nothing basic financiailly. Then he was a staff in an Oil Servincing firm.

Ngozi, that's her name, claimed to love him for better for worse and nothing he did could make her leave him. As a result, he was ready to cross the ocean for her. One day, no quarrel o, nGozi came home and started packing her things. She said he wasn't educated enough, he was yoruba and he couldn't take care of her financially. She said that they were not meant for each other.

He cried and pleaded but to bo avail. He was going literarily crazy. Infact one day, he was bathing in the bathroom and heard someone shouting, "Ngozi!" Outside. This guy jumped out naked into the street thinking she was back only to find out that this Ngozi was someone else. He got to her from ppl that she was now living with a very wealthy young Igbo dude and drivng exotic cars. His madness increased and he had to be sent to Ogun state his villa to be treated.

1yr later, Ngozi and her bobo were killed by masked gunmen. He richman bobo was an armed robbber and his had incurred d wrath another criminal and gang. My guy still dey weep for this lady.

Anyway now he is happily married with 5kids, has his own bungalow and cab business. His wife is also a pretty, godly and hardworking woman.

If u r using deceit to keep a relationship going on, u r those people's worst friend. Whatever u don't re-inforce deceit in a relationship. Male - female relationship is a union in which a little thing could metamorphose into a gigantic tsunami. If the guy was bad or is cheating, u either shut or advise her better.

Pls take into account that women have been repressed socially until recently. Women were previuosly supposed to be seen alone and not heard.

Education was not given to female kids freely and their place was in the kitchen. Even the intelligent ones who showed interested were not encouraged.

Its not a hidden fact that women liberations movements are kicked at by a lot of ppl. I remember that one of the guys I dated said his mom hated me cos I was an engineer and had to work offshore.anothers sister told me that successful women will never get married. I was just 24 and someone was proclaiming that on me just cos I dared to make a differnce.

If ppl still think like this in this age and time, imagine how they wld hv thot 2 or 3 hundred yrs ago. But I am glad that more and more ppl are beginning in to believe and work hard for women empowerment. That's the reason for the IQ rise. An 82 year old Malam Uba Abdul-Rahman hooked up with his 70-year-old bride yesterday.


Abdul-Rahman, who was among the new couples, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the state government for the support given to them and said that he was happy for finding a 70-year old partner to spend the rest of his life with after the demise of his wife.   



In a grand event held at the Kano Central Mosque, representatives of the couples agreed to unite the spouses together after a dowry of N10,000  was paid to each of the bride.



Yesterday's event was the second of its kind organised by the state's Hisbah Board and each of the couples comprising 100 widows and divorcees and 150 unmarried young girls was assisted with  bed and beddings, kitchen utensils, three crates of egg, and a  pair of two handsets and SIM cards provided by Airtel service provider.



In her speech, Vice President's wife, Hajiya Amina Namadi Sambo charged the new couples to respect the institution of marriage and live peacefully with their partners. She later donated 130 sewing machines for onward distribution to the new couples.


Prior to the wedding fatiha, a counselling session was organised for the couples at the Government House and were later provided with gifts donated by individuals and corporate bodies.



The State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in his speech said that government would continue to provide support to un-married men and women in order to minimise social problem in the state.



A total of 250 widows, divorcees and girls were, yesterday,joined in wedlock at a mass wedding organised by the Kano state government.
