Though the BVN registration in Nigeria is free, Nigerians living in London have had to part with N10, 000 to enrol on the exercise. The directive was said to have been issued by the apex bank, as confirmed by the UK chapter of the All Progressives Congress and Zenith Bank. The APC, UK chapter, had asked the bank on Twitter about the authenticity of the directive and the bank replied, saying, “The letter is genuine. The fee is as communicated by CBN and the enrolment company was contracted by the CBN. We trust this helps.” Meanwhile, a user of a popular blogging platform, Nairaland, by the name klem93, said he was shocked to have seen photos of Nigerians thronging the Nigeria High Commission in London in frustration. He wrote, “I thought it is going to be smooth sailing as I read that BVN for Nigerians in London had begun. I didn’t know it is going to be the same way as it went in Nigeria. A reader of my blog who lives in London wrote me an email: ‘The Nigeria High Commission in London needs an urgent overhaul. This afternoon, we Nigerians were treated like animals in Fleet Street, London, all because we wanted to do BVN for those of us who have accounts in Nigeria. “Things soon became chaotic and someone called police on us. They allowed us to converge on the street and then locked us out. We were also being forced to pay £30.00 each, but none of the officials or the website could explain what the money was meant for. Is it not free in Nigeria?” Eleojoe23, another user of the platform, protested, “£30? What for? They truly deserve an explanation. Maybe the high commission thinks that since they live in London, they should have enough money to spare. Do they think people just go out and pick money on the streets in London?” Another user of the platform, Julioralph, said, “30 pounds for what? Members of staff at the high commission should be changed. Even the CBN is at fault as well; they don’t have proper plans for those abroad concerning this BVN stuff.” http://www.punchng.com/news/uproar-as-nigerians-in-uk-pay-n10-000-for-bvn/ cc Ishilove lalasticlala seun barcanista https://www.nairaland.com/2456653/photos-bvn-registration-london-resulted |

Thought is going to be smooth sailing as I read on Nairaland yesterday that BVN for disporal begins in London, I didn't know is going to be the same way as it went in Nigeria. Hereafter is what I received today in my mail from a blog reader. The Nigeria High Commission in London needs an urgent overhaul. This afternoon we Nigerians were treated like animals in Fleet street London all because we want to do BVN for those of us that have accounts in Nigeria. Things soon became chaotic and someone called police on us. They allowed us converge on the street and then locked us out. Detectives attached to the Osun State Police Command on Thursday exhumed the remains of a 19 year-old girl identified as Bilikisu from a pit toilet at Abaja compound in Balogun Agoro area of Osogbo. The deceased was said to have been killed by her lover identified as Soji, who dumped her corpse in the pit toilet in a bid to hide his evil act. It was gathered that the deceased has been dating Soji for over two years. Soji was said to have removed her breast before dumping her corpse in the pit toilet. According to residents of the area, the duo usually engage in frequent fight, though they both went their separate ways at some point in the relationship but resolved their differences and Bilikisu returned to Soji’s house. After returning to Soji’s house, she mysteriously went missing. While searching for Bilikisu, the parents visited Soji’s house only to find out that the suspect had vanished into thin air. Bilikisu’s parents reported the case to the police, who immediately sent out a search party for Bilikisu and they found her remains in a pit toilet with one of her breast removed. A police source who confirmed the incidence, said detectives are currently looking for Soji. http://www.maxgist.com/2015/07/photo-19-year-old-girl-got-her-breast.html

Immigration authorities in Cameroon have deported 450 Nigerians from Kousseri, in the country’s border with Chad, describing the move as a preventive measure against the increasing threats from Boko Haram. The expelled Nigerians number among foreign nationals deported from Chad for not being documented. They however contested the action, describing it as inhumane. Africa Review reports that the Nigerians were ferried to Mayo-Oulo on the border with Nigeria and handed over to Nigerian authorities in Mubi, Adamawa state. The prefect of Cameroon’s Logone and Chari division, Albert Mekondané Obounou, said of the deportees: “They are foreign nationals without valid documents. We are working towards identifying those who are living with us [legally]. The expulsion concerns only foreign nationals without valid documents”. A security source who noted that expulsion of the Nigerians was just the beginning of a crackdown on undocumented foreigners, said: “We decided to send home all foreigners without valid papers. Other countries of the sub-region involved in the fight against Boko Haram had advocated this solution to truly fight against the terrorists who infiltrate people”. http://www.maxgist.com/2015/07/cameroon-deports-450-nigerians-over.html |
