Hello Naijadedites, let’s have a brief but serious discussion this morning! Have you ever been arrested by the police before? Yes I have! 6yrs ago I was a sales person to one Akwa Ibom man Ubong by name. Some months after, he accused me of stealing. Called police on me. I wasn’t around when they came to my house. So they told my sister to deliver the message to me, that I should come to the station for questioning. Innocent me, I foolishly went. Ómó they didn’t allow me to explain anything, they threw me into the cell. I spent a week in there crying bitterly. Only God knows what I passed through in there. I swore never to forgive and forget that experience. It was horrible. How about you? |
With this shambles Buhari administration, Nigerians owe Goodluck Jonathan an apology, really? Like for real? It’s devastating the way Nigerians forget so easily where we are coming from and how we got here. Buhari and APC’s administration is a mess no doubt, but does that make Goodluck Jonathan a hero? The way Nigerians clap and give a standing ovation when former president Goodluck Jonathan walks into a room is funny because all the things happening today started during his government. When Late Alhaji Musa Yar’adua got hospitalized on February 9th, 2010 and died, May 5th, 2010, Goodluck Jonathan took over and we started experiencing weakness in the leadership of this country. In all Obasanjo‘s 8years in office, there was nothing like terrorism, Kidnapping, and all the bullshits happening now because OBJ was strong and took no nonsense from anyone. Late Musa Yar’adua met the Niger Delta militancy crisis when he assumed office and he took a very diplomatic approach in resolving the security issues then by calling for amnesty and properly addressed the agitations of the Niger Delta people, hence an outright end to militancy. The first time Nigeria will experience kidnapping in schools was during Goodluck Jonathan regime when over 300 school girls were whisked away by terrorists from their school in Chibok. Goodluck Jonathan failed to secure the release of the girls and of course the number of killings through bombings by Boko Haram skyrocketed during Jonathan’s regime and yet we sing heroic song at the mention of his name in 2021. Abi ori nta yin ni? The truth is, GEJ was a failure security-wise and he game room for terrorists to comfortably establish themselves to become as deadly as they are today. You will also recall that the Billions of Naira meant to procure arms that will strenghten our military was embezzled under this same Goodluck Jonathan‘s watch. As Nigerians, we all thought Buhari was the right person to take over from Jonathan all because of his military background. Buhari and his campaign team took advantage of the security situation of the country then to convince us all into voting him. By now, it has now become clear that Buhari was not just the right person to take over from Goodluck Jonathan at that time because he lacks the activeness, knowledge and zeal to defend Nigeria. Hence, the reason insecurity has eaten deep into our socio-political system and there is no end in-sight – blame this on Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari, they are both failed leaders. I so submit!! Guys, what are your thoughts on this? |

Or, the better question might be, why does everybody love him? The relationship most music fans have with popular rapstar, Naira Marley, can be described as a love-hate situation. They hate him, for being overtly audacious, for having highly controversial views and how he doesn’t care about anybody. Yet, they love him because, above all things, he’s a talented dude. Besides being talented and knowing his onions when it comes to the rap thing, it’s as though people love him because other people hate him. So, the way he’s viewed by the general public and what people say about him on, social media can be said to be totally hypocritical. He’s a menace to the society. Maybe. But then, what does he do that no one hasn’t done before? He smokes weed? Millions of people smoke weed, and the country isn’t burning for that. In fact, so many other celebrities smoke weed and don’t get crucified for it. He talks about sex explicitly? Okay, Reminisce has done so for many years, Lil Kesh did it, Niniola is particularly loved for doing that. So what’s the fuss all about, why do people hate Naira Marley? It all boils down to how you wanna look at it all. For one, it’s hypocrisy. Now, while that is something most people eschew, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. All the things Naira Marley is hated for, his public image, his x-rated lyrics, all of it, are things that are generally frowned at in our pious society. It’s only right that when someone comes out boldly and champions all of those vices, people shouldn’t exactly praise him for doing that. So, what do people do? They love Naira Marley in secret. Naira Marley today is actually one of the biggest artists to ever come out of Nigeria. His entrance and immediate dominance in the music industry is something that should be studied. He came in like a boss, and became a boss. Nobody could call him kid, he wasn’t no kid, he was a big man from the start. His music, which is characterized by raw lyrics, up-tempo instrumentals and use of street slangs, is very conceptual and if you listen to him well enough, you’ll know he’s a top notch lyricist. All of his songs have concepts and storylines and are interesting, and you can’t say otherwise. That’s why when “ Coming ,” a song he did about sex, that featured Busiswa, went to Number 1 on the Apple Music Charts, everyone started wondering “who is listening to Naira Marley?” The correct answer to that question will be, “aren’t we all?” Because last I checked, songs don’t stream themselves. |

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the latest killing of tens of people by bandits in Zamfara State. The Nigerian leader warned that “such wanton disregard for life will be brought to an end sooner than later.” President Buhari in a reaction to the incident said that “this insane and persistent violence against innocent people must stop”. He added that “these criminals should stop pushing their luck too far by believing that the government lacks the capacity to crush them.” |
