PoliticsBoko Haram Threatens To Demolish University Hospital In Maiduguri by Knight1(op): 10:48am On Jun 04, 2011
Nigerian islamist group- "Boko Haram" -today dropped a note at the accident and emergency unit of University Hospital in Maiduguri, North Eastern Nigeria, threatening to destroy the hospital in due course.

They claimed in the note that the hospital staff do not treat their injured members when they were taken there, allowing them to die of their injuries.

The group vowed to demolish the hospital at a time of their choosing.
Recently, the group claimed credit for the bombings across northern Nigeria on the eve of the presidential inaugural ceremony.

Also yesterday, the group burnt down a warehouse owned by Borno ministry of health where vaccines used in immunizing kids against polio, measles and meningitis were kept.

WILL THE FEDERAL GOVT CONTINUE TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY WHILE THIS ANIMALS TAKE OUTRIGHT CONTROL OF BORNO STATE??
THEY BETTER DO SOMETHING BEFORE THIS GROUP GETS MORE POWERFUL AND TAKE OVER THE WHOLE STATE. I MEAN, BY NOW SOLDIERS SHOULD HAVE MATCHED THE POPULATION OF THE WHOLE STATE MAN FOR MAN. IT'S GETTING SO MUCH OUT OF HAND O embarassed

Ministry of Niger delta ( never saw the need for it in the first place) is aimed @ tackling the issues in the states of the niger delta. unlike FCT which is a federal region

BTW even by your arguement, bala moh'd is from bauchi, aliero is from kebbi, El rufai-Kaduna: none of them are even the gwari people you want to claim you are defending!!
The Fct is considered a northern territory in the sense that apart from the cosmopolitan nature of the city, the area councils are predominantly native in nature. The minister serves more or less in administrative capacity on the whole of fct not the city centre alone,so such person should be able to connect with the people at the grassroot level.
I wonder how a yoruba man will be able to address a problem affecting a Gwari man ?
i think you are forgetting that FCT also has a slot in the SENATE. to be occupied by Phil Aduda, an indigene!!!
So forget your gwari theory.

jason123:
I think it is a Nigerian territory but but if there is a split, it goes to the "North" (Core north and MB) and you all know it except you want to deceive yourselves.
I DISAGREE

IF YOU LOOK AT THE MAP OF NIGERIA CAREFULLY, YOU 'D NOTICE THAT IF EVER THE NEED ARISES FOR A SPLIT, SOUTHERN KADUNA, NASSARAWA, PLATEAU AND TARABA AND KOGI ARE MORE LIKELY TO END UP IN THE SOUTH ( REASON BEING THE PROMINENT POPULATION OF CHRISTIANS IN ALL THOSE STATES EXCEPT KOGI)
IF THAT HAPPENS, ABUJA WHICH IS DIRECTLY BENEATH (GEOGRAPHICALLY) SOUTHERN KADUNA AND DIVERSELY POPULATED WILL MOST LIKELY VOTE TO GO SOUTH.

BUT THAT IS NOT EVEN THE ISSUE. MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE NORTHERN DOMINATION OF THE FCTA MUST STOP. EVER GONE THERE TO GET A C of O? you'd meet several top officers who can't even speak basic english. the place is like an emirate. that is what should be tackled.
PoliticsIs The Fct A Northern Territory by Knight1(op): 6:32pm On Jun 01, 2011
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) was created on 31st December 2004 following the scrapping of the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory (MFCT). Since its establishment, the FCTA has been administered by the following Ministers.

· Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai 2004 – 2007
· Dr. Aliyu Moddibbo Umar 2007 – 2008
· Sen. Mohammed Adamu Aliero 2008 - Feb. 2010
· Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed (Incumbent)

got the above from the fct website. the ministers have mostly (if you go far back to when fct was created) emerged from the north. *daily trust conveniently ignores this fact in all their campaign for justice and equity*

SO THIS IS TO LET GEJ KNOW THAT WE ARE WATCHING TO SEE HIS NOMINEE FOR THAT OFFICE!!!

PS. BEAF. pls forward to your boss.thanks cool

jensinmi:
I don't know how much was really found in Bankole's account. All I know is anyone that says it is probably N1 billion does not understand how much money the Leadership of the House of Rep comes into contact with.

Bankole has spent 4 years there.
His allowances alone every year will be about N1 billion. That is the legal stuff.
Now, let's not forget the illegal stuff from government, the hidden stuff from oil companies and other lobbyists.

N155 billion naira might be too much to put into a single account. It would however be an insult to Bankole's thieving skills to have only N1 billion in the said account managed by a front.

There is no reason why Bankole could not have stolen as much at N8 billion to N15 billion for every year he was the Speaker. The minimum I would expect from a blatant thief like him would be N5 billion a year. That would be the absolute MINIMUM.
i agree. Bankole appears smart enough to have numbered accounts in swiss banks and not keep a billion dollars in one account. haba!!!!
meanwhile, thats #1000 per nigerian kai!!!! shocked shocked

PoliticsRe: Mimiko's Labour Party: Acn Is A Party Of Deception by Knight1(m): 6:35pm On May 04, 2011
PapaBrowne:
LP: ACN, a party of deception

THE brickbats between the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the ruling Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State, which came to the open at the weekend, continued yesterday.

Leaders of both parties in the Sunshine State further launched verbal attacks at themselves following last weekend’s blasting of Governor Olusegun Mimiko by the National Chairman of the ACN, Chief Bisi Akande, former governor of Lagos State and party chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as well as other leaders of the ACN.

The ACN leaders first attacked Mimiko and the LP at the campaign of its presidential candidate, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, which was held in Akure, the state capital, describing the LP as a worst political party than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The crisis, the Nigerian Compass learnt was, as a result of Mimiko’s refusal to decamp to the ACN and the decision of the national leadership of LP to work for the presidential aspiration of President Goodluck Jonathan instead of that of Ribadu.

But reacting yesterday, the Deputy National Chairman of LP, Dr. Joseph Akinlaja, and the Publicly Secretary of the party in the state, Mr. Femi Okunjemiruwa, described members of the ACN as “fake progressives trying to lord in over other political parties”.

According to Akinlaja, the actions of Mimiko since he became the governor had portrayed him as a progressive, adding that his achievements, appointments and programmes showed him as one of the leading lights in the progressive camp.

His words: “We saw the PDP when we formed the LP. I was from the UPN (Unity Party of Nigeria) to AD (Alliance for Democracy) and the LP. I am a progressive. I am on the left. If you see what Iroko (Mimiko) did, you will know he is a progressive.

“This is a person who had N1.4 billion, instead of using it to dredge a canal and collect 20 per cent from contractors and become a billionaire, he said no and used the money to pay pensioners.

“He has the largest political appointees, yet he pays their entitlements. Other governments awarded contracts with the intention of getting percentage. Progressivism is not by word of mouth, it is matter of character.”

Akinlaja said they would not join issues with Tinubu and his ilk because they were in the state to canvass for votes, which, he vowed, they would not get as the people of the state have decided to remain in the LP.

“Even when we did not have a councillor, people decamped from the PDP to the LP. People stood beside us during the election and waited during the tribunal. So, the ACN people were just making noise, which ordinarily will not translate to votes,” he added.

Similarly, Okunjemiruwa said the “ACN is a deceptive party” with no progressive credentials, adding that the party leaders are fond of dropping names of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, as well as the late Chiefs Adekunle Ajasin and Adebayo Adefarati without any likeness for them.

According to him, the ACN governors and leaders have not brought any tangible development to their states, as “they only struggled to get to political offices in order to corner the wealth of the states where they rule, which Mimiko has denied them”.

Okunjemiruwa said there has been paradigm shift in governance since Mimiko came into office two years ago with monumental projects executed for the benefit of the people.

But, the ACN Chairman in the state and daughter of the late Ajasin, Mrs. Jumoke Anifowose, and her predecessor, Comrade Sola Iji, said the two years of Mimiko’s administration had been a waste and colossal failure.

She said: “If it was an Action Congress of Nigeria government that was in place with the kind of money coming into the state, we would have progressed further than what this government has done. We would have done a lot for the people there and there won’t be poverty in the state.

“Our government will not be a government of okada riders, it won’t be a government just for the sake of wanting to copy Lagos State, trying to build certain structures which are not beneficial to the people of the state, like the abandoned Dome. I cannot think of any use of it.

“Furthermore, why building mega schools, when you can use the money to refurbish and rehabilitate all the schools around and the pupils will have a serene atmosphere to study?”

Mrs. Anifowose said the insinuations about a working agreement between the ACN and the LP came about “when Mimiko was fighting for his mandate and he got some support from the ACN leaders and when he got to the office, he appointed about two of the members.

“It is ACN’s principle or ideology that the conservatives must be removed from power. The PDP at that period was ruling Ondo State and we gave our support to the LP in order to sweep away the PDP,” she added.

Iji said they were not surprised with the conduct of Mimiko “because he has shown his inconsistency and unfaithfulness to those who helped him to get to power”.

He insisted that the LP and its leaders are worst than the PDP, adding: “Mimiko foisted candidates on his party. The list of delegates was changed overnight in order to frustrate the ambitions of some people”.

Iji, who was the ACN chairman when the LP was in the trenches, said they were not surprised with the conduct of Mimiko, as “he does not have political integrity; he betrayed Adefarati who appointed him as Commissioner for Health, when he did not deserve it. He took the man court and later decamped to the PDP.

“Agagu rehabilitated him by making him the Secretary to the Government despite the fact that he did not start the party with them. Again, he worked against the ambition of the man with impunity.

“When Chief Olusegun Obasanjo made him a Minister, he betrayed him. He did not do anything than to sell government properties to himself and cronies. We are not surprised at all with his character.”

At the rally, which was witnessed by a mammoth crowd, the leaders of ACN, including Akande, Tinubu, Governors Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State disowned Mimiko and the LP as members of progressive platform.

According to Akande, Mimiko came to them when he needed assistance during the battle to reclaim his mandate, but deserted them almost immediately after he got to the office.

Said Akande: “We are not members of LP. It was when the LP had problems that we helped them. The LP is part of the PDP. We actually supported them but now, the LP is the toilet of the PDP. The LP is closest to the PDP. The only way you can get good government is through the ACN.”

http://www.compassnewspaper.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1738:-lp-acn-a-party-of-deception-&catid=308:headlines&Itemid=600
all this ACN people have been shouting they 'supported' LP during the court battle, How did they do it? did they 'convince' the judges as alleged by agagu or they paid mimiko's legal fees? if they cannot show us how they supported LP, they should shut up abeg!
