Oga shut up! That wasnt why it was created. They are cousins of both the Yorubas and the North (Nupe and Fulani). A lot of people you see today that you think are yoruba or Hausa/fulani are actually of Edo ethnicity. They have always been part of the Yoruba/Ife empire.

The reason Midwest was created, was an Igbo ploy to break up Yoruba strength and influence in Nigeria. It was done through scheming by Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nwafor Orizu, and Michael Okpara. All of this was done in an effort to isolate the Yoruba and reduce their influence.
