Nigerians are like the proverbial Ostrich sticking their heads in the sand and hoping the problem will just go away. But instead, continues to get worse.

Why aren't the nearby cities getting more agressive against these terrorists? They see that these people are serious about forming their little caliphate. However, the cities in that area are going about their usual commerce as if their towns and villages are not going to get hit next.
