Everything, Everybody has been settled The Tinubu Administraton has been making concerted efforts these past couple of days to settle people all over the country. So who didn't expect he would equally find ways to settle NLC leaders to avoid them marching against him in the upcoming protest? Any NLC member out there who after this decision refuses to protest against this slap on the face of a minimum wage that was declared today should have their brains taken away from them. |

ufotunang: ..it's the local government that will organize the election not federal government or agency I see! So, the current Local Government Chairman will organize an election to unseat himself from office? You do know that Local Government Chairmen don't have term limits like the FG and Governors do, right? They are like Senators so they can serve back to back for life.

Frankiss44: ■ Why not amend the law and let INEC do it.. Inec is one agency that is jobless after every general election.. Why not just include the local government election to their responsibility? Nor be everything be insult All the many laws wey dem don amend to this day, how many of them have solved corruption in any sector of government? All they have instead done is further entrench corruption in parts of government that were formerly not impacted. Stop lying to yourselves abeg! These people tampering with your laws have none of your interest in mind. |

ZIAZI: ■ The FG can now interfere in LG elections directly by bypassing the governors. Who knows what the proposed law would say about the appointment of the electoral officers? It might not be left for the governors to appoint. And if the FG is to appoint a chairman to conduct LG elections for each state, then consider the matter accomplished because they will water down the strength of the governors. The thing is somewhat fishy to me. That's all I am saying. It's just unclear. This is Nigeria where every scheme is an attempt to future remove from the people of Nigeria the power to change their situation. This is a move by the FG to take full control over the workings of things even at the grassroots level, shifting this from a Federation to a semi-dictatorial setup, fronted still as a democracy of course. Nigeria is a place where rather than attack corruption head-on, the criminals in power would instead tamper with the very Supreme Law of the land to further deprive the people of their ability to control their fate. |

fatboyslym007: ■ The poverty line by the world bank is $2.15/day. So if the new minimum wage is approximately $46 then the least paid worker approximately $1.56/day. The least paid Nigerian worker would be $0.59 shy of poverty line... Compare this to the 30k/month which translates to $0.67/day. That is an increment of 132%. Is it enough no hell no, that's why we should have multiple streams of income... Please let's give kudos where there should be kudos. I believe it's a starting point. A person earning 70k/month has no business with having 2 wives and 4 kids... The way many of you reason ehn, it is like you are programmed for suffering and the delusion is strong with you lot. Suffering runs right in your very veins. You work 40-60 hours a week and only end up getting paid abject poverty wages - not even enough to live a week or two on. Rather than demand better pay, you think a better response would be to work more hours to earn more of the same abject poverty wages only to probably end up damaging your bodies and ending up with medical bills you cannot afford to pay? Na juju dem use do una these things? |

Abujaexpress: It will be consequential adjustment with about 15% to 30% depending on your grade level, for instance if you are currently on a salary of 100,000, your new salary will 100,000×30% = 30,000 increase fie you. Therefore, your new salary will be 130,000 Naira. Bullsheet! |

mikendie: There's what we call consequential adjustment and that will follow immediately after the executive bill that will be sent to the national assembly is passed and then signed into law by the president. Consequential adjustment simply means finding a balance in-between levels so that we don't have so much gap. For instance, you'll hear level 1 to level 4 💯 %. Level 5 to 7 70% and so on. Bullsheet! 😐😐😐😐😐😐 |

Odiriance4all: i am curious to know the percentage increase on salaries henceforth especially of fed government workers. as the new minimum wage of #70000 has been approved by the fed. the old minimum wage was #30000, that is automatically 135percent increased. does that systematically and mathematically means i.e, if your current salary is #100,000. you will now be earning #235,000, is that how it going to be? Nigerians are being paid $45.01 slave wages per month by their government. |

Ebigwei007: so will they have immunity same as the governors? Immunity is a benefit of office, not a right, and only the President, Vice President, Governor, and Deputy Governors enjoy that benefit while in office. Once impeached or their term expires, they no longer have that benefit and can be arrested and prosecuted. |

toluxa1: $100 to feed for 1 Month? Yep! And there is the food pantry. the SNAP program to supplement the dietary needs of people at the lower levels, and other programs such as Medicaid for their healthcare needs. All that is geared towards helping people rise as opposed to staying below the poverty line as what you have in Nigeria. |

press9jatv: Well the 70k is still realistic but very little compared to the highly overinflated economy in Nigeria over Tinubu government Slave wage is realistic? Interesting take! The International extreme poverty line is set at $2.15 a day meaning one would need to earn at least $64.50 each month to be considered living just above OK in poverty. Your government just made sure that over 140 million Nigerians will remain under the extreme poverty line for many years to come by this decision in fulfillment of his campaign promise to reduce the purchasing power of all Nigerians whom he also intends to drag in his tax net. And you applaud this? |
