Paraman:Empower INEC that gave you the last election that even international bodies came out in public to condemn. The same INEC that has not been able to get its acts together due to corruption from the top down? Why can't they work towards stemming out corruption in both INEC and SIEC? That would be a cheaper alternative and serve the people even better, don't you think? ![]() |
kedeojo:Rather than work towards ensuring cleaner elections at INEC and SIEC levels, these incompetent beings have resorted to rewriting the laws to further entrench corruption at all levels and make it even more difficult for Nigerians to dig themselves out of it if they ever decided they were ready to do so. Now, I see why a complete repealing of all laws enacted during the last 25 years is at least necessary to stem corruption in that Nation. ![]() |
atiku4President:...all over the place too! Nigerians are in for corruption. By the time these men are done, e go remain to just take Nigeria as a whole and dump am into the trash. 😐😐😐😐😐😐 |
Indelibleage:Are you silly? Have you not seen the outcomes of the many other rewrites of the Constitution, rewrites that have only served to further entrench corruption into the system of government? ![]() |
QuinQ:I have disputed that they have a right to protest as well. My point is it does not matter so long as their names are on the people's chopping block. ![]()
|
Donake: ![]() |
Shantyken:You cannot make up your own truth. It does not work that way. ![]() |
QuinQ:I am not mixing issues here at all. So long as the voters are the ones making a demand, it does not matter who among those being protested against protest. ![]() And yes, protesting alone is not the way to get results. I recommend the law be used conjunction in order to ensure all t's are crossed. ![]() |
Shantyken:Storyland! ![]() |
Dapromzy333:Who in the world appointed these arrogant souls speakers for the people of the South Easterners abeg? ![]() |
Kilometres:1. Why is it that everytime you lot are cornered you begin fume in the mouth like crazy people? Who is your savior Obi and what has he to do with this conversation for crying out loud? ![]() |
Kilometres:1. So,because the Nigerian Constitution was handed not by the people but by the military, this is justification for the many tampering of the document, amendments that have only served to strip the people of their rights and powers? ![]() 2. But, the 1998 Nigerian Constitution closely mirrors the Constitution --- without the many amendments since then --- closely mirror the Constitution of the United States. ![]() |
adamusuleiman1:The Same UAE that clarified that it has not lifted the Visa ban on Nigerians? ![]() |
membranus:In over 400 years, the Constitution of the United States has only been tampered with about 27 times. How many times has your government in Nigeria tampered with your Constitution? And how come each of those every times, the Nigerian people have been left with an even shorter end of the stick?! ![]() The Constitution is supposed to be the backbone of the democracy. If it is tampered with and the result of that tampering has been even great levels of corruption which is what exist today, does that not signal a failure in the system that may require a complete overhauling or repeal of all changes made to it? ![]() |
abidem4real:By the time he is done, the great depression to take place in Nigeria would be worse than that in the history of the United States. ![]() |
Blazebond:The second tier violated the Law when it installed itself as power and control over the LG which is by Law meant to be independent of both upper tiers. ![]() Yes, I too believe this is an attempt by FG to usurp power over LGs, a move equally against the Law which stipulates the LG be independent of both State and FG. ![]() |
Fiscus105:Stop telling this lie! The Governors did not use the Constitution. Rather, they went against the Constitution in installing themselves as overlords over the LGs and funds belonging to the LGs. ![]() Do you change the Law everytime someone breaks the Law? obviously the answer to that should be no. So, why recommend the law be changed in this case? |
iLoveYouToo:Balderdash! ![]() |
Fremodex:Does it occur to you that the reason why elections are shoddy at the State level has to do with the fact that INEC, the superior commission to the State commission, has a track record that leaves a lot to be questioned and so cannot even be called on to ensure elections at the state level are done to the book? ![]() |
iLoveYouToo:Did you miss the part where I clearly said you would need to impeach and then prosecute? ![]() 2. About 6 have been impeached in the last 25 years, but none of them have been at the clear request of the Zombie electorates who actually have the power to make the request. ![]() Let me be clear here. It is not about how many have been impeached but what the Law says about impeachment. So long as the Law allows for it, it can be done. ![]()
|
SmartPolician:1. That is not what we are talking about here. ![]() 2. Well, the Governors illegally usurped power over the LGs so clearly to embezzle LG funds as well, they would need to manipulate their way into controlling the elected LGs. However, note that the setup is an illegal one to begin with. And it makes no sense to attempt to resolve an illegality with another illegality. ![]() |
yemre:Both options are terrible. Nigerians would rather have a system where the Governors are punished for usurping power and control, along with embezzling public funds. These are acts that violate the very Constitution. So, simply brushing that under the carpet to instead push power into the hands of FG creating a bigger power imbalance in the federation goes against democracy — it is illegal since the Constitution would need to be tampered with to make that happen. ![]() |
jchioma:You mean influence at the grassroots(LGs) levels where people would reel from its effect from their very homes, Yeah! ![]() |
SmartPolician:More than half of Nigerians would disagree with you there. ![]() 2. Even if you served Tinubu himself a bowl of his politics to eat, he would refuse it. So why should the fact that you believe he understands politics matter to anyone? ![]() |
iLoveYouToo:There is no law prohibiting their impeachment and prosecution for these crimes. ![]() 2. Yes, they can be removed from office. The only officials protected by an immunity clause in Nigeria are the President, the Vice president, the Governors, and the Deputy Governor. Even at that, in the case, there is evidence of crimes committed during the office, they can all be impeached and then prosecuted for said crimes. The fact that Judiciaries are controlled by them should not matter since the Senate is the office responsible for handling impeachments and they, senators and reps, can be recalled by the electorate. 3. It is no factory reset! LG autonomy is what currently exists and has been bastardized by the greed of the Governors. The recent ruling instead is a shift of illegal power from the Governors to the FG. Yes, it is illegal what the Governors have been doing. Prescribing to have FG directly control LGs is also illegal since it contravenes what is currently contained in the Constitution. What needs to change is not the Constitution but the handling of issues of illegality and embezzlement. ![]() |
iLoveYouToo:The Governors violated the Law of the Land. They illegally obstructed the functioning of LGs and embezzled public funds; In saner climes, all such governors would be removed from office, and prosecuted. But in Nigeria, no one seems to be calling for a common sense solution to all of that corruption and illegality. ![]() |
iLoveYouToo:Nigerians need to get Tinubu and all the other criminal politicians out immediately before the noose comes literally around their necks. ![]() |
kole22k:1. See how easily that rolls off your mind there. Do you know that in over 400 years of the existence of the United States, there have been only 27 constitutional amendments? But do you know how many times, in the last 25 years alone, Nigerians have tampered with their Constitution? Do you know who has benefitted the most each time the Constitution has been tampered with under the guise of amendments and do you know those who have suffered the most? I can tell you that the politicians have benefitted the most each time, and the spread of corruption to brought to check at all with any of them. ![]() 2. Regionalism with the same set of politicians you have today(along with the new set out to get their own piece of the pie), right? Every which way you turn this, it seems Nigerians are going to continue to lose out. Yikes!😐😐😐😐😐 |
BALLOSKI:Nonsense! What do people in other democracies --- competent ones --- do to Governors who overstep their bounds and go as far as to embezzle public funds? ![]() These things no be rocket science abeg...why is it that with Nigerians it is like trying to squeeze water from stone. ![]() |
VinnyBaba:There is no reason whatsoever why such dullards should be allowed to complete even a first term. Tinubu does not need to be allowed to complete even a second year after the disaster he has already wrought on the Nigerian economy and people. ![]() |
MossadAgent:Lies upon lies upon lies! Nigerians were squabbling from even before the British left. By the way, Nigeria is not the only ethnically diverse nation on the planet. Kenya and also the USA are both ethnically diverse; the US is more so than any other nation in the world. 🤔 2. Blame? Power grab? I have no clue what you are rambling about. 🤔 3. I am not Obi person nor am I a racist, eejit! You keep directly these delusions at me and I keep wondering if you have your glasses on at all. 🤔 |
