safarifarms: ■ How will you relate this with these other explicit teachings that see male and female as equal; Gal. 3 Verses 28 to 29 [28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female;for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. 1 Corinthians 11:11-12 (New International Version) 11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
1. 1 Timothy 2 contains statements that are attributed to the person of Paul, right? So, it matters little that elsewhere it is found that the same Paul is written to have aligned himself with Christ as well. My stand remains that what is written in 1 Timothy 2 is without question not like that declared by Jesus Christ to be of His Kingdom.
▶ Paul's thoughts, expressed in the passage here from Galatians 3, are in alignment with that proclaimed by Jesus Christ in His Gospel.
23 Before this faith came, the law held us as prisoners. We had no freedom until God showed us the way of faith that was coming. 24 I mean the law was the guardian in charge of us until Christ came. After he came, we could be made right with God through faith. 25Now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law to be our guardian. 26-27You were all baptized into Christ, and so you were all clothed with Christ. This shows that you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 28Now, in Christ, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or free, male or female. You are all the same in Christ Jesus. 29You belong to Christ, so you are Abraham’s descendants. You get all of God’s blessings because of the promise that God made to Abraham. - Galatians 3 vs 23 - 29
▶ However, Paul's thoughts expressed in the passage that is 1 Corinthians 11 vs 1 - 16 should be questioned because much of this reads like an attempt to insert whatever traditions existed among the people of the time into that which is of Jesus Christ, an act which is against God — sin.
2 I praise you because you remember me in all things. You follow closely the teachings I gave you. 3But I want you to understand this: The head of every man is Christ. And the head of a woman is the man. And the head of Christ is God. 4Every man who prophesies or prays with his head covered brings shame to his head. 5But every woman who prays or prophesies should have her head covered. If her head is not covered, she brings shame to her head. Then she is the same as a woman who has her head shaved. 6 If a woman does not cover her head, it is the same as cutting off all her hair. But it is shameful for a woman to cut off her hair or to shave her head. So she should cover her head. 7But a man should not cover his head, because he is made like God and is God’s glory. But woman is man’s glory. 8 Man did not come from woman. Woman came from man. 9 And man was not made for woman. Woman was made for man. 10 So that is why a woman should have her head covered with something that shows she is under authority. Also, she should do this because of the angels. 11But in the Lord the woman needs the man, and the man needs the woman. 12This is true because woman came from man, but also man is born from woman. Really, everything comes from God. 13Decide this for yourselves: Is it right for a woman to pray to God without something on her head? 14Even nature itself teaches you that wearing long hair is shameful for a man. 15But wearing long hair is a woman’s honor. Long hair is given to the woman to cover her head. 16Some people may still want to argue about this. But we and the churches of God don’t accept what those people are doing. - 1 Corinthians 11 vs 2 - 16
Let's get the facts straight as far as the Old Law of Moses on this issue of head coverings. The Law of Moses never required that men not wear head coverings at all. And the same Law never in fact required women to cover their heads. Yes, it was customary for women in the region to do so but that tradition was never of God and as such should not have been **added** as though it were. Recall, it sin against God to add, remove, or change His Law, Old or New.
Let's then proceed to look at the entries in the passage
● Verse 2 - 3 claims that the man is the head of a woman. This is not true in Jesus Christ given that Jesus Christ made clear in His Gospel that He alone is Head/Authority/Master over the males and females in His Kingdom. So, the claim made there violates Jesus Christ ● Verse 4 which claims a man disgraces himself if his head, while prophesying(an act that is linked to the Old Law) or praying, is covered does not work at all when put against the Old Law and the New Law. So, I am not certain why Paul introduced this at all. ● Verse 5 equally contains an outrageous claim that is not linked with that contained in either the Old Law or the New Law. ● Verse 6 claims that it is shameful for a woman to cut off or shave her hair. The Old Law does not say anything of the such neither did Jesus Christ mention a woman's hair in all. ● Verse 7 of course means absolutely nothing when you consider the facts of things. The only man who was made in the image of God was Adam. Eve was made from that one man, and both of them attested to be of good quality by God. Recall, that God is good, and He deemed Adam and also Eve to be of good quality as He made them. Now, after Adam fell, every man, and woman born from them were born under the curse— not good. So, the claim that a man— not Adam, in this case,— is God's glory is not of Scripture at all. So, the claims that follow in verses 8 - 10 all fall short of Scripture. Eve was never commanded to cover her head in the presence of the Angels in the Garden, so I am not even certain where this would have worked. ● The argument he then goes on to present in verses 11 through 15 based on these ideas that fall flat when put up against Scripture, makes little to no sense when you truly examine it all as one piece as it all should be.
So, in summary, what is contained in Galatians 3 makes sense when put beside that which is Jesus Christ. However, what is contained in the passage of 1 Corinthians 11 vs 1 - 15 failed woefully when put up against that which is written in Scripture from even the beginning — Genesis — to the end— Revelations.
sonnie10: ■When everyone speak through their God given mouth, no matter the deformity or disability of the bodily member, God listens, answers their prayers and they are saved. There is no discrimination in that. Roman 2 vs 11. God does not show partiality. It is not about who we are but who we become in Christ Jesus.
The God of Isreal required all who belong to Him to pray in secret and hiding, meaning it does not matter whether you have a physical mouth or not, or whether one is born dumb or not, in Jesus Christ. What instead matters is whether your prayer is said in obedience to His commandments and teachings or not - Matthew 6 vs 6 - 15 & John 14 vs 15 - 24.
A person born without a mouth or ability to speak, for instance, is blessed as he/she is better able to comply with the requirement of the Law that is Jesus Christ than one who has a mouth and has no rule over it.
ALLNIGERIANSMAD: and mumus that was shouting during Jonathan are now deaf and dumb
Please stop this nonsense! Jonathan was equally terrible. They have all been terrible thus far. Stop using one terrible politician as a standard to measure another terrible one.
safarifarms: ■ I think you should also read 1 Timothy 2 from other translations. 1 Timothy 2 (Living Bible) 14 And it was not Adam who was fooled by Satan, but Eve, and sin was the result. 15 So God sent pain and suffering to women when their children are born, but he will save their souls if they trust in him, living quiet, good, and loving lives. 1 Timothy 2 (The Message) 11-15 I don’t let women take over and tell the men what to do. They should study to be quiet and obedient along with everyone else. Adam was made first, then Eve; woman was deceived first—our pioneer in sin!—with Adam right on her heels. On the other hand, her childbearing brought about salvation, reversing Eve. But this salvation only comes to those who continue in faith, love, and holiness, gathering it all into maturity. You can depend on this.
I guess you are referring to the expanded view included in The Message translation. Let's look at it from the Greek interlinear writings, please.
▶ Verses 11 & 12 both contravene Jesus Christ who instead said all men and all women in His Kingdom are to learn ONLY from HIm, the one and only Teacher in the Kingdom of God...
8 “But you must not be called ‘Teacher.’ You are all equal as brothers and sisters. You have only one Teacher. 9 And don’t call anyone on earth ‘Father.’ You have one Father. He is in heaven. 10 And you should not be called ‘Master.’ You have only one Master, the Messiah. 11 Whoever serves you like a servant is the greatest among you. 12 People who think they are better than others will be made humble. But people who humble themselves will be made great. - Matthew 23 vs 8 - 12
... and equally asserts that in the Kingdom of God, there can be only one Authority/Head over each one who belongs to Him.
24 “You cannot serve two masters at the same time. You will hate one and love the other, or you will be loyal to one and not care about the other. You cannot serve God and Money[d] at the same time. - Matthew 6 vs 24
▶ Verses 13 through 15 seem, also, to suggest ideas that have no bearing on Jesus Christ and the salvation He spoke of.
27 A large crowd followed Jesus. Some of the women were sad and crying. They felt sorry for him. 28But Jesus turned and said to the women, “Women of Jerusalem, don’t cry for me. Cry for yourselves and for your children too. 29The time is coming when people will say, ‘The women who cannot have babies are the ones God has blessed. It’s really a blessing that they have no children to care for.’ 30 Then the people will say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ They will say to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ 31 If this can happen to someone who is good, what will happen to those who are guilty? ” - Luke 24 vs 27 - 31
Childbearing was never a path to salvation for women under the Old Law as women remained cursed in childbearing even in that regime. In Jesus Christ, women are encouraged to forgo childbearing altogether to obtain blessings from God. So, what Paul said does not join at all with Jesus Christ.
Now, of course, all of this that I have said here holds, if and only if, Paul's letter to Timothy was meant to be applied to his relationship with other believers of Jesus Christ only. It does not hold if Paul meant it as advice for Timothy when dealing with a general gathering of all Israelites where you find both believers and non-believers. But the fact that Paul mentioned salvation by Jesus Christ makes me question his reason.
goshee: ∆ Obi wouldn't have been better that's why we voted Bobo Chicago to build the ZOO the way he built Lagos, Chicago, Paris and London but unfortunately it is like building materials don cost.
No, he wouldn't. The man is just another Nigerian politician seeking a chance at a seat he has not shown himself qualified to sit in. There is absolutely nothing to show him any different from all the others before him and even the one sitting there now. So cut the bull, OK.
Nonsense! What makes you think Obi would have been better than this one? Open your eyes abeg! Your current class of politicians are all mostly cut from the same stalk.
Watinhapen: Most filling stations are just ripping people off. They’re all selling old stock. I bought in a Mobil filling station this evening for 715 per litre. After buying, I left and on my way saw another filling station selling for 660 per litre. I had to buy again. It’s not the govt now, it’s the filling stations ripping people off.
Why not drop the location of the filling station as well so others can go there to purchase as well?
ambale: ■ Wetin you dey talk now man? The president promised the govt workers a living wage, so are you saying 70k is the living wage? Being an agbadorian na suicidal job ooo😂
You don't seem to be paying attention to the debate at all is the problem here.
bennybuhari: Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, Ajaero said the last minimum wage of N30,000 expired on April 18. “We should be in the regime of new minimum wage as of today. Discussions were supposed to have been concluded,” Ajaero said. “The federal government through the national assembly legislated on it. But we saw that the discussion entered voice mail because the federal government refused to reconvene the meeting that was adjourned. “I think the announcement now appears mischievous because there is no wage increase that the government is announcing. For them to announce it now, is an issue that we are worried about at the NLC and even at the TUC.”
Again, go back through the following link to get a better idea of what minimum wage is all about and how the additional benefits one could agitate for, probably based on such criteria as grade level or the lot ought not to be a part of this discussion.
ambale: ■ Is this one mad, no be government go pay their workers? So make workers no get family because government no fit pay. Stop disgracing your lineage here now
My lineage is not what is the problem here but your ability to reason. These folks are agitating for an increase in the minimum wage for all, are they not? The choice to have a family is yours to make, and not one for you to saddle the company you wish to work for. So, why does your family size matter as far as the computing of minimum wage for all workers out there? Maybe you should take a look at how other countries go about handling the issue of minimum wage to better understand what it is from what it isn't https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/minimum-wage
MEEVEET: Nothing is going on 2027 let's still vote based on tribal and religious sentiments By 2027 u would look back and say those good old days petrol used to be 950
ambale: Remember the president promised a living wage. What can 70k do for a family of 2 in this economy? And extended families will still be expecting him to drop something also
Why is the government responsible for paying you for your choice of a family of 2 abeg?
Beautifulday: ■ You didn't show us scripture as prove that Abraham something different as you claim. You didn't show us scripture support your claim that prophets of old must come from Jacob. ■ Samuel and Elisha didn't receive prophecy only from vision or dreams as you claim that all prophets after moses received. Numbers 12:6-8 [6]And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream [7]My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. [8]With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? ■ If there be a prophet among them not among us. God has spoken to me audibly. In fact holy Spirit has prayed for me before.
1. You mean I have to show you scriptural proof that Abraham was not a descendant of his grandson, Jacob aka Israel?
2. So, what you are saying is that the God of Israel — YHWH— lied regarding the way He communicated with those whom He chose as prophets in His Land?
3. I am sorry, what? The God of Israel spoke to you, a non-Israelite— a dog—, by way of His Old Law of Moses in which He limited His communication to those of Israel?
Beautifulday: ■ What people call the spirit of prophecy is the messenger of prophecy that delivers prophecy who is an angel. Abraham didn't have a different spirit of prophecy than any prophet. Jesus didn't have a different spirit of prophecy. All of them had angelic ministration which people call spirit of prophecy. ■ Why Paul didn't listen to the prophecy was because he had the holy Spirit. Prophecy most times are abiquious. That is while people still argue about bible prophecies of more than 2000 years. This is where the holy Spirit comes him. He is called the spirit of truth because he take the same prophecy angels delivered to the prophet and explain it to the prophet or the one who is filled. So Paul knew the exact things that will happen to him and how he can change the outcome through the holy Spirit. ■ Jesus said all that my father has are mine. The past, the present and the future belongs to Jesus. Everything in heaven and on earth belong to God and therefore belong to Jesus. People confuse prophecy with sorcery. Jesus said to his disciples, "there are things I wish to tell you but you can't bear it, but when he the spirit of truth is come, he will reveal it to you". Nothing in this world that didn't come from the spirit world. The prophet is the one who takes those things from the spirit world (kingdom of God) and manifest them to the physical world through his world. ■ Jesus made an important prayer, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Only the prophet can make this happen. God reveals to the prophet what He wants, the prophet by instructions speak it into existence.
1. I am not interested in what People say. Rather, I am interested in what is written as the Word of God Himself in these things. According to Scripture, Abraham had something different from that which the Old Prophets of the Old Law, including Jesus Christ had. ▶ The prophethood that was bestowed on Abraham did not come with the stipulation that he had to be of the blood of Jacob to receive it. ▶ In addition, God did not limit the communication between Himself and Abraham to visions and dreams as He did those of the Old Law of Moses in Numbers 12 vs 1-6.
2. Now you are spinning tales that have nothing to do with what is written! I didn't ask you for this at all. I asked you to say only that which is of Scripture.
3. Much of what you typed is based on what are religious assumptions —extra-biblical ideas— which have no place and meaning with the things of God. It is for this reason that in my previous response, I demanded we stick to exactly that which is written in Scripture so that we spare each other these tall tales.
4. That makes no sense at all! That prayer is instead part of what is the Law in the Kingdom of God, and only a Lawgiver, not a prophet, can give such a command to the people.
Look, when you are ready to review what the Old Law says of the prophets of Old vs what the New Law says, not of prophets but of individuals who are followers of Jesus Christ, regarding the difference between the Prophet system and the Spirit of Truth as is written in Scripture, let me know.
Doyin2: Ajaero is a clown. Minimum wage is for the least paid worker, probably a cleaner and the likes. Minimum wage is not meant for an Idiot on a minimum wage but decides to have a family of 6. Neither is it meant for higher workers that would require N40k per month accommodation. You must be an idiot on a minimum wage,to want to live higher than a room accommodation .
Minimum wage is not for idiots. Rather, it is the least salary anyone in even an entry-level position out to expects to be paid. That said, this man is indeed off his rockers talking of a family of 6 and what not as though minimum wage is to be based on family size and the rest.
So long as all employees get the same amount, and it isn't that those who chose to have more kids or bigger family sizes get more benefits than others, good.
Procashtips: ■ Is labor asking for newspaper and hardship allowance or they're asking for basic salary that can handle the basic needs of life?
Basic salary ke?
Basic salary or base pay is the fixed amount of money paid to an employee, excluding deductions (i.e., tax contributions, benefits, insurance, etc.) and additions (i.e., bonuses, overtime pay, etc.)
Procashtips: ■ And I'm asking you, what family size should govt salary encourage? ■ Should only single men and women work for govt? ■ If yes, why are the political office holders family men and women and receiving salaries that can take care of them irrespective of their family size?
NONE! Your salary should simply pay you for work done and that should be where it should end. If benefits are offered, it should not be based on your family size but simply what the company offers ALL(not some) of its employees.
2. Given the computation put forth by labor, the Country is better off hiring only single men and women as they would come in a lot cheaper to taxpayers than the family man who wishes the government to carry the weight of his family of five.
3. These are corrupt practices that ought to be done away with. So for labor to agitate for the same practices to continue means Labor has made itself part of the problem of Nigeria. Anyways, I see how even the man at the bottom wants to get his share of the corruption loot.
Procashtips: ■ The way some people defend these politicians is so annoying. Politicians that receive "hardship" allowance and even "newspaper" allowance that are like 5-10% higher than the common man's minimum wage, yet they're asking why should government pay workers salaries that should cater for a family of 5.
Politicians are not supposed to receive that though. Anything that uses tax money for their personal choices is to be frowned upon. So, when labor demands the same as those politicians, it makes labor look equally like a problem that the country needs to also get rid of.
flipdat: some teens in north anerica are earning 15$ an hour
The current minimum wage in the USA is $7. 25 per hour
▶ The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. This rate applies to covered nonexempt workers. ▶ The minimum wage for employees who receive tips is $2.13 per hour. The amount of tips plus the $2.13 must reach at least $7.25 per hour.
They earn $15 for work that is worth that much and it isn't based on family size.
bennybuhari: “We looked at food for a family of six, that is about N9,000 in a day. For 30 days, that is about N270,000. Look at medical, N50,000 provided there will be no surgery or whatever. “For clothing, we looked at N20,000. For education, N50,000. I don’t know for those who tried to put their children in private school, they will not be able to cope with this amount. We also have sanitation of N10,000. “I think where we have another bulk of the money is transportation. This is because the workers stay in the fringes and because of the cost of PMS, that amounted to N110,000.
So minimum wage is the Government paying these men, not just for work done, but also for the wives they marry and the children they bear with said wives? Yikes!
GloriousGbola: this is you defending the executives of a buiness whose oga at the top is in jail right now. you really are not very smart while empty headed louts such as yourself are falling over to defend binance - their ceo is being convicted abroad because the company aided and abetted criminals no one is fooled by empty headed louts such as yourself you will remain peppered and bitter
4 months in jail na for something else and not Nigeria naw.
Not trying to defend him but I doubt this spells the end of binance, the company.
