The double standard is on you.

Must everything be in comparison to another Nigerian player.

Zaha is the essentially the "STAR BOY" of Crystal Palace first name on the team sheet over 10 season of top flight football consistent outstanding performance over consecutive seasons.

And you want me to compare and make the same statement about Chukwueze in his second season of football, does that in any way make rational sense too you huh Are they on the same level huh

Then you pronounce "DOUBLE STANDARD"
Over 10 seasons of top flight football consistent and outstanding performance over consecutive seasons....well done sir.
i salute your government sir

I know that's what you will say ...

but that's kind of true....
I studied a bit of sociology back in school....
especially ethnography of various Nigeria ethnic groups.... and some other courses..

but to my knowledge... few of the individuals from the core north are barely ambitious...

many don't even care for a house.... as long as they have tools for shoemaking or doing maruwa and can construct a place to stay with zinc they are good to go...and don't mind have up to 4 wives and breed kids they can't even feed.

unlike the average south west espcially from ondo and ekiti where meritocracy and excellence is a watchword....
you'll see an electrician in this two states already bagged his MSc and has kick start his PhD.

the South east.... an Ibo man don't mind take years to learn from his master trade for years and when he starts you'll be surprised at the success he makes....
in the south east the women goes to school... more than the men and it stems from the colonial era... (please try get Nigeria people and culture ~ university of Benin GST222) and read it more..

we cannot shy away from this...the northerners preoccupation with political power and military etal has robbed them of the needed human capital development prequiste for regional growth.
So you be uniben boy. My real nigga. Tuale for you! Can't forget all those boring GST lectures at Basement back in the days.

I have read for like 10 pages back and here are my submission...

Firstly we should try to be civil in expressing our ideas Biko, the last few days has seen a surge of attack on a particular monika, we should try abeg... If I meet anybody on this thread outside, I will hug the person, I swear.... This place is my number 1 club now...

2- the 2nd issue is about the old gen vs new gen, i have read arguments, seen different views which are all legit, but one thing stands out, and I have seen such occurrence in the larger scheme of things... Nobody mentions Ronaldo de Lima, in all this back and forth comparism... Why? Why? Why? Imo that guy is the greatest player I have seen, and I've watched quite a few players, is it skills? Is it goal scoring, is it what? But nobody mention that Man... Or have you guys forgotten who Ronaldo is, the true Ronaldo... I grew up watching that man...I can't remember how I got the CD, but I have a best of Ronaldo back then, I eat and sleep that CD...He was my idol, he was the perfect striker... For Brazil, for psv,for inter, for Barca, for Madrid... See resume... Pls let's us be guided abeg...

I alsa watched a couple of cruyff and that man was very very very good, highly technical, probably the best technical player I seen, he even invented a particular dribble, I think it was in the Euros, which I adopted and I still use it when I see the opening, it never fails, expecially if the defender is sleeping....

Maybe we should define the best players by their Era's instead... If not where we want put

Zidane
Ronaldinho

P.s my old man also told me Pele played in Nigeria one time like that, I don't know... But I know his favourite player, SEGUN ODEGBAMI... The only clips of him I have watched is the Nations cup in 80's...

Cc Thesupernerd, (na Carlos Alberto score that monster outside shot right?)
Cc Thegoodjoe
Your old man was very correct about Pele playing in Nigeria. There was a 48 hour cease fire during the civil war to watch Pele's Santos team take on the Nigerian Green Eagles in January 1969. The game which was played in Lagos ended 2-2 with Pele scoring both goals for Santos.

The greatest number 9 ever. Ronaldo Nazario De Lima is pure class. I watched best of Ronaldo and later watched him in France 98. That man was in a world of his own. I remember how he cried so much the day he announced he was retiring from football.

Just as we rate the difficulty of the game in the past era of the game due to tackles and protection, the pace and intensity of the current game will prove difficult to the players of the past.

I have heard old heads say it that they would not be able to cope with the pace of the game today. That is why we have players on mean diets. Even Messi today finds it difficult to ghost past players. You find it hard seeing tricks coming off due to the Zonal presses going on.

I still feel the modern game is far hard due to its pace and intensity.

I have no doubt that the current Manchester City team or Liverpool will trouble the Santos team of Pele, efen whoop them, clearly because of the intensity.
True the old players will find it hard to cope with the modern day game because of its intensity. Also the modern game has advanced in tactics and has greatly been improved by technology which the old game didn't have.

The modern day game doesn't rate trickery and dribbles, it's result oriented.

The current man city and Liverpool might trouble that Santos team but whoop them......Noooo

The new generation had Shawcross, Gattusso, Pepe, Ramos and a host of other mean defenders

The difference between the football of old and now was better organization and a level playing field

These guys are nothing compared to Claudio Gentile and the Butcher of Bilbao.

Gentile is the meanest man marker ever. He was deployed to man mark Maradona and Zico at the same world cup. He kicked the life out of them, even used his nails on them and other crazy acts. Italy won the world cup.

The butcher of Bilbao ended Bernd Schuster's career by damaging his knee. He was banned for 10 games for the tackle that damaged Maradona's ligament. Nine months later during a brawl between Barcelona and Bilbao match he kicked Maradona in the chest and was given an 18 match ban which was later reduced to 7 games after an appeal.

They faced England in that same WC. England had Charlton, Geoff Hurst, Moore... Come on tell me that is not a crack squad. wink

They also faced South American rivals, Uruguay.

In that era, Pele repeatedly came up against the best defences in world football with his club Santos when he went on yearly global tours based on invitations to tournaments and top class friendlies against several of Europe's best sides from the La Liga, The English League (Pre-EPL era), the Serie A and then from Germany. The world wanted to see how Pele consistently fared against Europe's finest sides and Europe's meanest defences.. and guess what, Pele bested them all. He passed all tests in flying colors and proved his mettle as the best in the world.

These many games are part of the reason he could rack up so many goals statistically. He did it against Milan, Bayern, Benfica, Madrid, Etc...
I watched videos of Pele ana Maradona too and those guys were top class. I even have a movie about the life of Pele(he featured in the movie) Despite the poor pitches, career ending tackles and lack of protection from referees they still excelled.

I'm very sure Ronaldo and Messi will not survive guys like Claudio Gentile and the Butcher of Bilbao ( who tore Maradona's ligaments and went on to frame the boot he used to execute the job).

That's actually not true .

In the UK KC is classed as a homegrown player of Manchester city. He arrived at Manchester City as a teenager 2013/14 trained and played in thier academy for near two years plus before making his first team debut.

So where is built from the scratch so which money did you pay too City train and nurture him.
Was he also a Manchester city player when he played at the U17?

He's been playing for Nigeria from U13. He was built from the scratch with tax payers money. Man city only modified him, after all he wasn't a striker when he joined man city.

Kelechi Promise Iheanacho is one of our own and we are always very happy when our products deliver. It's not sentiments or bias.

You don't expect us react the same way when someone we've known from his U13 days scores with how we react when someone we have to check google to confirm his eligibility scores.

Same way you're so filled with joy when Tammy scores compared to when Osimhen scores.

Sadiq is almost 23.

Has played professional football for 6 years plus and 75 games since 2014 that's not good enough. Why so few games if he is so good.

He has played in a number of leagues Eredivisie, Seria A and B, Scottish premier league and now Serbian league.

Prior to playing in the Serbian league has not been outstanding. He just been at best average if not below. Before he went to Rangers the highest number of games he played in a season was 12 games that's very poor to be honest. He has never played more than 17 games in a season in his entire career. And that has been at higher sub10 rated leagues in Europe.

That will change now in Serbia now for him. If he had not been to other leagues before going to Serbia. I would be very optimistic. So he has to get to better league to prove his quality.

Scottish league is a higher rated league not in dispute.

Football is always about the HERE and NOW.

Quite recently Rangers beat Porto among other higher rated clubs. Who has Partizan beat in the UEFA of higher rating ❓

Let's look at value which club has the higher quality of players. We can look at in financial value of players, that's a good start. Just Morelos and Aribo in value and pedigree will exceed the total value of thier players. There are others attracting transfer speculation.

The most expensive player they have is Markovic has a poor reputation on and off the pitch. From his time at Liverpool.

Future look at the players of Rangers a club that Flanagan( former high flying Liverpool & England RB) is struggling to get game time.

I find no comparison between them in the HERE and NOW. If you use Transfer Market the club players in entirety are valued at £40 Million and l don't even trust thier valuation they are not very market responsive.

UEFA Partizan are in Group L the easiest group but have been generally poor. The only team that's quality there is Manchester United.

Rangers are in a far harder group but are second in the group. With Feyenoord ,Porto and Young boys. But are joint group leaders Celtic have 10 points and are top of thier group. An indication of how the Scottish league two top teams are progressing.

Will you agree it's much easier to go from Rangers to bigger clubs than Partizan.huh

That's my take Rangers is ahead
Dominic was born in UK and was moved from the club's academy to the first team. Sadiq left Nigerian at the age of 17 for Spezia. You don't expect him to have more games time than the UK born academy graduate.

How many kids leaves Africa as such a young age and start getting game time in the first team of any European club??

Spezia later sold him to As Roma. If he wasn't good they wouldn't have bought him.

You said Football is about HERE and NOW. HEREand NOW, UEFA coefficient ranks Partizan Belgrade at number 71 while your Glasgow Rangers is at number 120.

Oga if you like analyse from now till when next world cup starts, these arguments are unnecessary. UEFA has spoken. You no know pass UEFA.

Group L is the easiest group in your eyes abi. The same group L that has Manchester United and Az Alkmaar (current second position in the Eredivisie while feyernood is 10th on the table). Just so you know Astana is rated higher than Rangers according to UEFA coefficient ranking HERE and NOW.

Maybe I'm speaking above your comprehension, go and check the meaning of the word proxy in the context of company control and management.

Then after that check the meaning and substance of if the phrase , " Portuguese sourced players ".

For example Raul Jimenez is Mexican but spent three seasons at Benfica before coming to Wolves for about £35 million. Or for example French defender, Willy Boly who had spent the past four seasons in Portugal with Braga first and then Porto.

You checked Wikipedia Wow !!!

I really don't care what you want to believe that's your business. But educate yourself be more substantive and Increase your understanding.

I am putting a few screen shots from highly reputable media outlets. Financial times and the Guardian.

The matters became delayed in intended convoluted financial arrangements that would require protracted legal contention. We all know, sorry some of us do, what's going on but proving in a legal setting is very problematic.

All the other stuff about players excluded is there if you look. I did that substantive post donkeys ago.

I could tell you all the players frozen out but do your own homework.

Now who is telling LIES and being MISLEADING.
Wolves has 8 Portuguese players if you add Jimenez and Boly that will make it 10 Portuguese sourced players. Benfica has 12 Portuguese players while FC Porto has 10.

Before coming here to say rubbish I think you should change your glasses when check wiki and go take extra maths lessons.

You are free to check the squad list.

When it's your favourites players in the championship you tell us how the championship is the highest rated second divsion in the world but for other players UEFA coefficient rating doesn't matter.

Yes, according to UEFA coefficient Partizan Belgrade is 71 while Glasgow Rangers is at 120. Kindly check the teams below Partizan Belgrade. That's an upgrade if you ask me.

It's quite clear you have read my posts above and the just two media factual and informative reports about Sadiq performances.

Dominic Iorfa had played 3 consecutive seasons for Wolves and was a first team regular with near 100 games under his belt. Winning multiple accolades and invited to the senior England team set up. Make the comparison with Sadiq now Dr delusionalhuh

Wolves was bought by Super agent Mendes and his own manager Nunos in control. Wolves had more Portuguese sourced players than Benfica and Porto.

Wolves became the subject of an English FA investigation for breach of rules.

The actions at Wolves were not individual but collective with a number of players frozen out for reasons unknown.

These events were not a story associated with one individual Dominic or birthed in thier entirety by him as is with Sadiq. But the collective actions of the club in ownership by proxy by Mendes. Against a number of players at the club as soon as Nuno arrived.

There is no iota of comparison with circumstances of Dominic Iorfa and Sadiq Umar.

Why do you like to make noise, l am indulging you today. If you keep presenting Balderdash, l will consider you as non existent.

The last disgrace I gave you when you were exposed as a blatant liar should have been enough. But you are shameless.
Mendez doesn't own Wolves. The club is owned by a Chinese group.

Personally I don't believe this conspiracy theory about Dominic being frozen out of the wolves team because of Jorge mendez involvement with the team. We would like to know the other players that were frozen out of the team as well.

Mind you I checked the team's squad list for the past 3 seasons and there's only one Portuguese defender named Ruben Vinagre . And none of the defenders in wolves is represeted by Jorge Mendez. So why exactly is he being frozen out of the teamhuh?

See who is calling someone a liar...Wizard of lies

Clutching at straws and a version of events that comes entirely from the player.

A good post is a balanced one that takes into cognisance all the perspectives not just a singular one.

I personally know Michael Beale assistant manager and Gerard and l can assure you that version is VERY FAR from the truth.

There are multiple reports in the media from a duplicity of sources that detail his failings as a player at Rangers. The fans view of him included.

But you chose one by Sadiq himself, what did you expect him to say. That he was treated fairly and he failed. That's a very opinionated portrayal by the player.

I have spoken in depth about this a long time ago.

One very damning example of his failings is when he played against Motherwell U23 for Rangers U23. Played the first half and was ineffective got substituted in the second half. He was replaced by 17 year old Dapo Mebude, who came on and promptly scored a hat trick. Leaving more questions asked of Sadiq.

But the worst was when they played Aberdeen in the Cup his first start for the club, he was one on one with the goalkeeper and instead of shooting he dived. He was booked. It was shameful.

At this stage he had lost the fans and lost all respect. He became a comedic character for which all manners of jokes emanated from.

It's not a right that you must play. You earn the right to play by what you do in training and in the pitch when you play.

Sadly Sadiq did neither.

There is no comparison between Sadiq and Iorfa on any level whatsoever.
I'm not surprised at your response. As usual you know everyone in British football setup. Sadie's story is false and you choose to believe that of your British pals because theirs is authentic.

How come no one from the club come out to deny or challange Sadiq's version of the story. His story was on Scottish Sun not vanguard or Punch. Coming here to tell me about a good post being balanced when yours is one sided and reeks of bias(choosing to believe your friends over the young man involved). So much for being a Warri boy and an avid supporter of the super Eagles.

The boy was a young man trying to find his feets in a new environment and instead of encouraging him, he was frozen out of the team and treated like a criminal.

We dived and was yellow carded instead of scoringhuh? That's his offencehuh Is he the first to do that?? Footballers have done worse.

You judged his career with jus two gameshuh

Now you're coming here to tell us how he dropped to a very very very low league in order to perform. But you forget he has played in a higher league (Dutch league and Italian league) and he didn't disappoint.

Just so you know the Scottish league is rated number 16 and the Serbian league is at 19. According to UEFA coefficient Rangers is rated 120 while Partizan Belgrade is rated 71. So how is this dropping to a very very very low level.
