Lecturers Vow To Resign If Korede Bello’s Is Allow To Write Exam
This is certainly not the best times for Popular musician Korede Bello as he is currently having problem with his lecturers.

The Mavin records act who recently had his matriculation for his Higher National Diploma (HND), at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has been warn by his lecturers not to participate in the forthcoming exam.

A Source gathered that Korede Bello’s lecturers have threatened to resign if the singer is allowed to write his exams because he has not met up with 70% of his class attendance for the semester.

The source also added that the one of his lecturers in his class disclosed that he will resign if Korede Bello is allowed to sit for his exams later this year because he has not been attending lectures due to his busy schedule.

It will confirm what is already known that it is hard to combine a teeming music career with schooling. The likes of Wizkid and Olamide have had to drop out while they pursued their careers.

The youngest professor in the world is the female genius, 19 year old, Alia Sabur. Alia Sabur (born February 22, 1989) is an American materials scientist and attorney.

Sabur was born in New York City, New York. Her mother, Julie Sabur (born Kessler), worked as a reporter for News12 Long Island until 1995. She married Mohammed Sabur, a Pakistan native, in 1980. Alia, born on February 22, 1989, showed early signs of giftedness. She tested “off the IQ scale,” according to an educator who tested her as a first-grader. As a fourth-grader, she left public school and was admitted to State University of New York at Stony Brook at the age of 10, later graduating summa cum laude at 14. She also received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 9.


After Stony Brook, Sabur attended Drexel University where she received her M.S. in 2006. Alia is recipient of the 2007 Dean fellowship from Drexel University. In 2007 she took a temporary position at Southern University in New Orleans afterHurricane Katrina.

Mathematics Career

On 19 February 2008, at 18 years of age (3 days before her 19th birthday), she was appointed to the position of International Professor as Research Liaison with Stony Brook University by the Dept. of Advanced Technology Fusion at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea. The position was a temporary, one-year contract which she chose not to renew. The Guinness Book of World Records named Sabur the World’s Youngest Professor.

She began her position at the Department of Advanced Technology Fusion at Konkuk University in June 2008 and returned to her hometown of New York early 2009, without renewing her contract.



Her Graduate School Controversy

In 2008, Sabur filed a civil suit against Drexel University, claiming that the university engaged in fraud and defamation regarding Sabur’s pursuit of a doctoral degree. In the suit, Sabur charges that Yury Gogotsi, her former Ph.D. advisor, improperly used her research to apply for grants, and deliberately obstructed her degree. Trial proceedings began on August 9, 2010.



“But that was when I grew disillusioned with the science world. I saw bad conduct and realised that some professors weren’t motivated by a love of science. I fell out with the adviser who was supervising my PhD. I sued Drexel University in a civil lawsuit and the case has now gone into private, binding arbitration. I believe my adviser applied for grants and patents using my ideas, and took credit for them. He denies this and has accused me of stealing his work. Even though the university has cleared me of plagiarism it has still refused to award me my PhD.”, says Financial Times article.

This is the second lawsuit involving the Sabur family. In the previous one Alia Sabur’s “parents brought suit on behalf of their daughter and alleged that defendants board of education, its members, and the school district failed to provide their daughter with appropriate educational services in violation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act”. Six of the seven counts were dismissed

The computer guys are always at Iya Abubakar flexing fast free wireless Internet. When the school is on break the traffic is low so the speed is murderously fast.

Most of their friends are the movies guys,they will tell their computer friends to download the latest episodes of Empire or flash

The pot washers are my main guys they cook and I eat.

Then there is the spoon guys e.g me. I am always with my spoon,the moment I smell food burning I know my pot guys are done cooking and I happily go to their rooms.

Students staying in school when the school is officially on a break is not something new or unusal. Most students i guess, prefer to stay in school whereas some don't joke with their holidays o, even if it is for 30 minutes, they would go home.SO today, i present to you: 10 Kinds of Students you would See in School During Holiday; Read and Share o!

Em, and yes, these were gotten out of experience because i tend to fall into one of the categories too.

The Book Worm: Ogbeni o! This ones takes everything too serious like say tomorrow no day.They prefer staying in the hostel and jacking everything jackable before others resume.One thing with this set of fellow is that they never come out all through those periods till school resumes. Am Afraid of this kind of people o.

The Jonsers: This set use the holiday period to jonse up and down the school. They make research and do things they never did while school was on. One thing with them is they understand that when school resumes, no jonsing and hence use the few days/week to flex around

The Cooker: Choi. you see them washing pot as if they are leaving with their parents while in the hostel. Seems this set cook morning, afternoon,night and mid night. The next morning, you see them with different sizes of pot and you begin to ask yourself if you are a student at all.

The Prayer Warriors: Choi. Staying with them is hell you must be forced to pray o or Else...

The Computer Addicts: Hala! This ones would be on their computer as if the world is ending tomorrow.Most times, i imagine all they do there.This consist of the bloggers, Web developers,Graphic Designers,Gamers etc.

The Movie Freak: Smart People. They don't mind watching 15 movies daily till school resumes.

Jackometers: Actually, this is different from the book worm. The Former stays in his room without letting you know whats up while this set of people keep carrying big big books up and down looking for who to intimidate and yes, they are very good in intimidating students because once you see them you would be like "Jeez, I have not started Jacking anything o".

The Crashers: This set can crash for life.Their routine is very simple: Wake, Eat,Crash and the loop continues I fear this set.

Job Title: Principal Regional Financial Management Coordinator (Central Africa) – ORPF-2

Objectives
The Procurement and Fiduciary Services Department reports to the Vice President, Country and Regional Programs & Policy (ORVP). The Department supports the Sector Departments in project cycle activities and in monitoring compliance in fiduciary safeguards related to the financial management of projects and programs on the one hand and procurement activities on the other. In addition, it is also responsible for engaging in framing financial management and procurement policies guidelines and rules. The Department is also mandated to provide training to Borrowers and to Bank staff relating to financial management and procurement. The Fiduciary Services Division (ORPF2) is responsible for all financial management issues. It has an increasing country presence through a growing network in 34 field offices.

Main Duties and responsibilities

The Regional Financial Management Coordinator (RFMC) will be based in the African Development Bank’s Country Office (CMFO) in Yaoundé, Cameroon and will report to the Manager, Fiduciary Services and will be supervised administratively by the Resident Representative. He/she is expected to lead a team of Country Office based Financial Management Specialists (CFMS) within the Central Africa Region in conducting (i) national or sector level fiduciary diagnostic work; (ii) operational support missions at the request of Project Team Leaders (PTL) throughout the project cycle; and (iii) technical support to improve borrowers’ financial management systems, including support for designing lending operations that focus on FM reform/development. Other specific duties and responsibilities include:



Plan and prioritize FM work for the entire region (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Madagascar) and communicate the same to PTLs, Country Managers and the Fiduciary Services Manager
Take part in financial management systems and analytical works evaluation missions at the national level as well as other regions, as necessary, and in collaboration with other donors.
Take proactive role ensuring “Quality at Entry Work” through supervision of CFMSs in assessing the adequacy of the Borrowers’ project financial management systems and ensuring consistency and quality of FM aspects in project/program documents. The RFMC will also be responsible for selected high-value or particularly complex FM issues
Provide financial management guidance for the development of technical assistance programs and evaluate and monitor their implementation
Carry out the fiduciary aspects of new areas of business and provide relevant information on country specific issues to country units, sector staff and task teams on generic country specific financial management and disbursement issues
Supervise, mentor, and coach CFMSs within the region
Represent the Bank in regional financial management and other relevant forums
Provide technical guidance within the framework of the Bank’s policies and guidelines to PTLs, CFMSs and Executing Agencies with respect to the financial management activities of projects and programs for the region
Manage the resolution of complex financial management issues, e.g. in case of differing views between the PTLs and CFMSs and where appropriate through interpretation of related Bank guidelines, international standards, or best practice
Selection Criteria

Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience
A minimum of a professional accounting qualification (such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) plus a Master’s Degree or its university equivalent in accounting, business, finance, economic or related subject
Proven ability to conceptualize, design and monitor the implementation of country or sector level financial management capacity building initiatives
Demonstrate an understanding of cross-cutting issues beyond financial management (e.g. procurement, governance, public sector management) at sector/country level
Willingness and ability to travel frequently in the region
Excellent written and verbal communication in French and a working knowledge of English.
Competence in the use of Bank standard software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, preferably with a donor organization working on public sector financial management
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, International Public Sector Accounting Standards and International Standards on Auditing is a requirement

The start of term is an exciting time for those of us involved in Academia and those who must have experienced this.– new students are arriving on campus, full of enthusiasm, hope, the first class spirit questions and many more.
A Friend once told me that during Matriculation Ceremony , the number of students being celebrated is more compared to that of graduation. That threw a poke on me as it is something worth thinking. The strategy involved for University Scheme is different for the one used during your high school days. Back in school, a student might not come for class but at the end of the term still come out as the best. Have seen a school where a student spent the whole of the session in the hospital but came up as the best in that class :O How did it happen? I don’t know but to be sincere, if you employ that strategy in school, you “might find it difficult” to succeed as some lecturers are very strict when it comes to people not coming early for class or not attending at all.
So in this post, i would be sharing with our “Newly Admitted Students” some tips that would help them succeed while in school. These tips were as a result of interviews gotten from those who went and conquered so using them would be a bonus for you. Please Read and Share.

Be organised: When you first arrive and have time on your hands will mean that the scene is set for studying and socializing before life gets too busy. So register for your course, check that your loan has arrived, pay any tuition and hall fees, sign on with a new GP, get your library card and NUS card, and buy any items you may have forgotten to bring from home. Make sure that you have the necessary things in your room to be able to offer your new neighbors tea, coffee or a drink, as this is a good way to get to know them.

Have an agenda, and use it: This seems like pretty obvious advice, but you would be surprised how many students (and Professors!) don’t have a good system for managing time. University is a lot about managing your time: getting to classes, dealing with e-mails, assignments, planning for exams, Facebook, and squeezing in a social life, or a part-time job. It’s a struggle to manage all these tasks, and to help with this, develop a clear and straightforward system of ‘calendar + tasks‘. Under calendar, include your class schedule, important dates and meetings, and most importantly, LOOK at the calendar regularly! I personally prefer using an on-line calendar that syncs with my phone – but some people prefer the old-fashion (yet dependable) hard-copy calendar. For tasks, include short-term tasks (with deadlines – cross-referenced with your calendar) and long-term tasks, so that you are reminded of deadlines. I use a small notebook for my task list, and it is always with me – for me, the act of physically writing down a task list helps me remember what I need to work on. A good system for your agenda and tasks will make your life a lot easier. Furthermore, effective use of an agenda and task list will help you refine your time management skills, and these skills are truly essential to success at University (and for your career, beyond…).

Attend lectures, You Paid For it: Lectures are there for a reason: they provide you with value-added content. It’s true that some of the content may be available on-line, or with a text-book, but in most cases, lectures will help to draw connections between different content, and/or provide a valuable context to the material that might be in the textbook or on-line. Professors take a lot of pride in lecturing, and work hard to make the lectures engaging, interesting, and thought-provoking. You will soak up an amazing amount of material by just being in lectures, and paying attention.

You should be expecting different kinds of fellow there but networking with the right kind of people can go a long way in helping you achieve that goal. Ask question[/b]s: In most of my conversation with students, I tell students them that there are no stupid questions (except for “Will this be on the exam?”). This is very, very true. If you are confused about a concept, or failed to get the point of a slide, or discussion, you must ask for clarification. Although it can be intimidating to ask a question in a large lecture hall, it’s important to try. If you are confused, it’s highly likely that other student’s are also confused. You are helping yourself, and your peers, when you put your hand up.

[b]STUDY Strategy: In order to keep control of your commitments, write out a personal timetable which includes any employment obligations, scheduled study such as lectures, at least one library session per week, private study, planned activities such as clubs and societies, and time for rest and relaxation with your friends. Try to stick to it in principle. Even if you have not had time to do the background reading, make sure that you try to attend all your lectures, seminars and tutorials as this will help you to form an impression of the broader picture. Keep copies of all written work, back up your computer and keep the discs in a safe place.
Build yourself, not your resume. Many students will do extracurricular or gain leadership positions just because they want to impress future employers. However, if they focus more on developing themselves as strong, well-rounded people, they will be far more memorable in interviews and in the working world.

The Law of Diminishing Marginal Returns applies to your GPA, too:. Of course, you should maintain a respectable GPA, but know that once you cross 3.5, it matters less and less. The difference between an A and an A- is not worth you endlessly poring over a textbook instead of spending valuable time with friends or working on extracurricular activities. The amount of energy needed to get perfect grades could be put to better use.

3. University of Nottingham


Located in the UK, this university offers students of African descent scholarships in its high achiever foundation prize program. You should, however, be ready to study programs related to arts, engineering, science, business, and social sciences to be eligible, and this program provides a £2,000 tuition fee award for the first year of study only, and you must already have an offer for a full-time foundation program at the university by September 2015. You are free to apply online, but the application closes 27 March, 2015.

4. University of Aberdeen


Scholarship opportunities are open to Nigerians and Ghanaians at the College of Arts and Social Sciences or the College of Life Sciences and Medicine of the University of Aberdeen in the UK. You must possess a First Class degree from a reputable university in Nigeria or Ghana or from a British university to be eligible, and the scholarship covers up to £2000 of fees. You must also not be under any current scholarship or academic funding to be considered for the West Africa Merit Scholarship, and must have already been offered a position in January or September 2015. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2015.

5. King’s College London


If you’re a Nigerian student and willing to undergo your LLM Law program in London, then the King’s College London might be the place for you. This is only for Law students and will cover about £25,000 – broken down as £18,400 to cover tuition fees in full and £6,600 contribution towards living costs while still studying at the college. However, you must show evidence of financial difficulty to be accepted for the program, and you must be willing to return to Nigeria after completing your studies to share your knowledge with your people, and also be ready to provide an end of year report and letter of thanks to your sponsors. The application deadline is 31 March 2015.

4.Seek Additional Information For Growth: As an Engineer, You should try doing some extra research and information finding as they would help you in achieving your already set goals. 5.Lastly Get the Fun but don’t get Crazy: Yo! We have being admitted, we now here, we now own it . Sure you now here but always remember the more reason why you are there.
