buntercos:
The quintet of Chinedu Obasi, Haruna Lukman,
Kelechi Iheanacho, Obafemi Martins and
Ikechukwu Uche are set to be invited for the
Super Eagles' last qualifying matches for the 2015
Africa Cup of Nations against Congo and South
Africa, SL10.ng have been reliably informed.
The aforementioned players couldn't get into
Stephen Keshi's teams despite their impressive
performances for their respective clubs and
despite incessant calls to have them included but
it seems all five of them will be a part of the
team that will announced by interim coach,
Amodu Shuaibu for the November fixtures.
A list of 24 players is expected to be announced
before the end of October and sources have
reliably informed SL10.ng that there will be some
changes to the teams Nigerians have been used
to under Keshi.
"Most of the players from Keshi's team will still
be there but the likes of Haruna, Obasi,
Iheanacho, Martins and Uche will be included
provided they aren't injured before the final list is
compiled," a reliable NFF source told SL10.ng.
If eventually these players are invited, it will
sound like a good music to the ears of most
Nigerians as they have always clamoured for the
invitation of such players.
The Super Eagles are third in qualifying group A
with four points in as many games, and play
Congo and South Africa in their last matches, with
Amodu Shuaibu in-charge on an interim basis
after Stephen Keshi was asked to step down from
his interim role.
Keshi has had a running battle with Villarreal
striker Ikechukwu Uche hence his continued
absence from the Eagles under Keshi, his last
appearance being the final of the 2013 Africa Cup
of Nations in South Africa.
The 'Big Boss' alluded to Obafemi Martins as
being too old, while also alluding to Kelechi
Iheanacho as being too young.
Chinedu Obasi was invited a couple of times but
never made the team due to injuries and passport
issues, while Haruna Lukman was never given a
look in by the 'Big Boss'.
The only good news is young promising player iheanacho invitation, others nothing to celebrate bcs they are bunch of average players like others.

Sacked Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi is expected in Ethiopia this week to finalise discussions over taking charge of the country’s team, AfricanFootball.com has been told. A close source in the Ethiopian FA, who did not want to be identified, told AfricanFootball.com Sunday morning they expect Keshi in Addis Ababa this week to continue talks on the possibility of taking over the national team.

[quote author=gbengress1 post=27276940]Former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, is expected in Ethiopia this week to finalise discussions with the country’s FA on the vacant national team job, africanFootball.com reports.
A close source in the Ethiopian FA, who did not want to be identified, told africanFootball.com Sunday morning that Keshi is expected in Addis Ababa this week to continue talks on the possibility of taking over the national team.
“He is expected in Ethiopia late this week,” revealed the source.
Ironically, Keshi denied Ethiopians the chance of qualifying for their first-ever World Cup last year when the Super Eagles beat them both at home and away in a final playoff.
Last week, the Nigeria fired Keshi after the country’s laboured campaign to qualify for next year’s African Nations Cup in Morocco.
“We hope we can get him because he is a high profile coach who has won AFCON with Nigeria and also took them to the World Cup.”
Keshi, who has already coached Togo and Mali, is expected to salvage Ethiopia’s Nations Cup hopes as the team currently lies third in Group B with three points from four matches, three points behind second-placed Mali.
Algeria has already qualified for the tournament proper after compiling 12 points.
Ethiopia’s remaining matches are away in Algeria and then at home to bottom team Malawi next month.
The source further said Ethiopia officials are not comfortable with Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto who only managed a 3-2 away win over Mali in Wednesday’s 2015 AFCON qualifier, but has lost 99 per cent of the team matches including build-ups.
Source: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/keshi-expected-in-ethiopia-for-contract-talks/[/quote)Keshi ex-coach Togo,Mali,Nigeria then to be confirmed Ethiopia coach is a plus to his cv bcs no African has ever manage 3 different nations talkless of 4.

Moustache:
Former Super Eagles great, Taribo West has blasted the defensive pair of Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona, labelling their efforts in the ongoing Nations Cup qualifiers as amateurish.

The former Derby County defender, once considered world class by his peers, clearly has a low opinion on the Eagles' current back line after pushing the national team's caretaker coach Shaibu Amodu to look for replacements for both centre-back and left-back positions.West, who won a gold medal in the 96' Olympic Games, claimed Nigeria had themselves to blame for their disappointing position and Omerou and Oboabona should take the majority of the blame.

- The Eagles impressed me [during their 3-1 win over Sudan] but our defence was suspect and Omeruo and [Godfrey] Oboabona played like amateur defenders, Taribo told hereisthecity.com
- They are good defenders but they were too relaxed and made the same mistakes over and over again. We have conceded goals in the same way in the qualifiers.- Sudan's goal in Nigeria's 3-1 win was similar to the one against us in the first leg in Kartoum.

- They only did well against South Africa, though they made some mistakes. South Africa had the opportunity to execute one-on-one moves and score goals but Vincent Enyeama saved us. The two defenders didn't play like champions or professionals in other games.- I think they need competition. We need to scout for new central defenders. I would have suggested that they should be dropped but we don't have better replacements for them now. But we should work on improving their weaknesses.
This is not the first time West will rail at young defenders, as he labelled Joseph Yobo and the other new faces in the Super Eagles team to the 2002 World Cup in Korea Japan as 'junk players'http://www.futaa.com/football/article/omeruo-and-oboabona-are-amateurs--taribo-west
Taribo is absolutely right. This is d first time i'm seen a correct analytical problem of Super Eagle bcs most of the critics always point out lack of playmaker in d mould Okocha is d bane of Super Eagles which i always disagreed.Pls let us analyse SE without sentiment and our analysis should be based on 2015 Afcon qualifyer matches we ve played so far. From my own perspective,i will say defence failed us woefully i mean d right and left fullbacks and d central defenders plus d defensive midfielder.Honestly we dont have much problem in central midfield and attacks though there is need to fortify this areas. But d major area that needs serious attention is d defence which Taribo has sincerely pointed out. Most goals conceded so far were due to defensive lapses either from d fullbacks or central defence.Another area of concern is defensive midfield bcs a very good defensive midfielder would protect his back four but we are lacking that in SE presently. It was due to these lapses Keshi had to dropped Ambrose,Echiejele, move Onazi to right full back, brought Oshaniwa to d left and Hope Akpan to the defensive midfield but d central defence still failed us with that cheeky goal by Sudan. There is need for Amodu to look at these areas,if he want to suceed in d next two matches or else.

You don't even understand the crux of the matter before running your mouth and attacking me making noise like a machine for grinding pepper.Okochas quality is not in doubt and i have not questioned it in any way.he would be a welcome addition to any topside.

What I have been trying to drum into your senile brain is that he shied away from the path to greatness by having other intrrests that were antithetic to the road less travelled.

For crying out loud we are talking about a player who had the skills and precensce of mind to humiliate Oliver khan and about four defenders in the goal area before deciding to score even though he had the chance. Entertaining but not purposeful. It was late in his career that his game evolved and he was phenomenal at Bolton and by that time age had caught up with him.

Stop trying to claim one arcane knowledge on a subject as simple as simple as a club desiring or being offered a good player by an agent and choosing to sign him after some negotiations as regards his value among other things. Oga go and sit down somewhere if you no get point.

sanky346:
The former Eagles media officer has written all that transpired between him and the Chelsea midfielder on his website after he dared to tweet that the team doesn’t deserve to be in Morocco for next year’s AFCON due to its woeful performance.

“Our allegiance as reporters is to the truth. Clear. Unvarnished. Ungarnished. Especially on a bad day. Like last Saturday in Khartoum. The Super Eagles performed poorly, and deservedly lost. So when I tweeted that they did not deserve to be in Morocco, it was the truth. A mere 1 point from 9 tells the story more eloquently than I ever could.

So I was a bit taken aback when Mikel Obi stopped me as I boarded the plane and made to take my seat to slate me for saying that. And for tweeting that the result was a disgrace” Udoh wrote.

Before going on to add that other players watched as the two exchanged hot words on the plane “Emmanuel Emenike and Austin Ejide were sitting close by, as was Vincent Enyeama, Nosa Igiebor and Ogenyi Onazi. I felt affronted. And I let rip, reminding him how much stick I take for defending the team, including but not limited to ignorant folk even suggesting I receive gratification” he said.

“ After our argument somewhat ended, Mikel would not go down easily and called Ben Alaiya, the team's Media Officer over, directing him to put out a statement blaming the condition of the pitch.

I warned him that excuses would not go down well with the public and he would be better served saying nothing than blaming the pitch.” The article concluded.

This revelation will no doubt cast Mikel as a hater of objective criticism and someone who sees the media officer a tool in the hands of influential members of the team ready to do their bidding instead of upholding the truth according to the ethics and principles of journalism.
Udoh should keep quite for God sake.

Honestly i'm highly disappointed with the way we football followers analyse issues related to super eagle, especially Keshi's issue.D comments credited to pinnick was made as a pundits on TV show not as Nff president. If pinnick knew he w be nff president, such comments w never come out of his mouth.Bcs with this comments,he cannot sack Keshi for now, even if he has d intention of sacking keshi.D issue of sacking keshi or not has been d major issue on every of ardent super eagles fans, press, football administrator and even ex internationals.Whether we like it or not Keshi remain a true football legend that ever comes out of Nigeria and we must accord him that respect.Keshi was a successful footballer that had a successful career with eagle btw 1981 to 1995 and highly successful European career bcs he is the first nigerian to play in any major european cup final Anderlecht vs sampdoria 1991 winners cup.The only Nigerian to have coach 3 different national teams and won Afcon, qualify two of the team to World Cup and reached the last 16.Keshi has paid his due as a player and as a coach.Did u people realised that keshi contract end after world cup but not renewed due to political tussle in nff.But being a patriotism NigerIa,Keshi was begged by honourable sport minister to be incharge of SE temporary until a new coach his appointed. My candid advice to pinnick is simple, give us a coach that will move nigeria football forward not 419 oyibos like bonfere, librecht, troussier, voght and Laberjack.

Can emenike explain the reason he came late to camp for the match against congo? Even in his club in turkey, emenike has lost his scoring touch of late or is there lack of creativity in fernabache too!

I think we have mediocres as players in our national team that is why they are so quick in complaining to the media, no true professional does that, our players cry like babies when things don't go their way and they blame the coach for their level of mediocrity which is laughable.

Am sorry for those clamouring for siasia to coach the eagles again forgetting that he had problems with the likes of osaze, mikel and enyeama when he coached the eagles then, nobody is talking about that, we have also forgotten the problems eguavoen had with yakubu too.

Am sorry to say this but i think we have local champions as players, we cannot be blaming the coach all the time. They can't be under -performing and expect all of us to join them in their stupidity to crucify the coach! I will have none of that at all!
What a good comments. The same Emenike is having issue with fernabache coach and his teammates especially the captain to the extent he was boo when substituted in a recent match.Emma should just take it easy and rediscovered his form bcs having an issue with your coach w be a disasters.
