It must be a special deal for NATO members! It MUST be!?

Edit: are the Uke HMGs and AGLs a deal? If not what guarantees as to quality, maintenance and after sales services exist?
If you don't ask you don't get ,if you partner with the USA you get even more.

It's about international diplomacy and geo politics. It's a game we don't seem to appreciate and or know how to play.

Now that the Russians and Chinese are making in roads into Sub Saharan Africa. This is an attack against Western influences and a quest to grab resources.

The Russians and Chinese will support any regime no matter how unpopular even prop it up. Particularly, if there are financial gains to be made, e.g. mining rites for scarce minerals , etc.

They have gone into Mali and now the unpopular military junta after a disinformation campaign against France. Is saying it will take 5 year's to organise elections.

If Nigeria said ( we have the manpower) give us 1500 Mk117, 500 Bradley IFV , 2000 Humvees and another 750 Lav 25 for a start. And light weaponry for 10,000 soldiers and we will deploy them in Mali to fight insurgents and anywhere they are found in West Africa.

That request will be granted immediately by the USA with all manner of sweeteners.

Is it in out interest to be the big brother of West Africa ABSOLUTELY YES.

If we don't I can assure you Mali will be a staging post for all manner of Islamic jihadists within this year. Why because there is huge vacuum that the departing French have left. And Wagner group is just there to prop up the military junta not fight jihadists in the country.

Please, were you the one that delivered him to know age cheating?

You talk with authority things that you do not know. Amokachi told Westerhoff when he invited him to camp that he was a small boy. He told the coach he was only 16 years old to go to Super Eagles camp. Westerhoff convinced him that he was good enough.

Is that the mindset of an age cheater?

Na wa for you.
You want to justify the UNJUSTIFIABLE.

Westerhof has an opinion which is not Fact.

His opinion has no more credence than mine, he was not 16. Officially yes but we know what was happening at that time with age CHEATING.

What about Mba and Oboabona? If Keshi listened to you, he would not have taken them to the AFCON and they would not have contributed their bits to help us win the trophy.
And after their outstanding performance how far did they progress ,what was the level of CONTINUITY.

The coach finds them outstanding potentials to be given exposure to train with the team.

They are not going to the tournament, I personally don't think it is out of place to give our local players exposure till we have an outstanding and well organized league.
Coming in to train with the national team is a good learning curve.

But selecting players on potential talent taking up the spaces that should have been given to established in proven players.

Having lots of top players in camp creates true competition in the SE to do the opposite is a recipe for failure, mediocrity and Incompetence.

You are right he has left Swansea and is collecting I bet crazy money in Quatar.

He must be greedy ,when he was at Swansea in the Championship he was on £83k a week . And he refused to take pay cut renew his contract and or go to some EPL clubs that wanted him but not on £83k a week.

He is 32 ( actually real age) so he still has a few good years of football left.

I see he is a coach that will look into the grassroot to hunt for talents, not only flying around Europe as if that is the only place talent lies.

That impressed me about him
.
You do not take talent to your senior national team.

You take established, consistent, outstanding quality and the top performing players in their club and league. And those top performing players ,clubs and leagues are not in the NPFL.

The U23 and U17 coaches should be looking at local talent that they may develop not the senior national team coach.

The bold is a reflection of misplaced priority and a coach who has not understood his core purpose and focus.

Put in the mix our historical and continuous penchant for selecting players not on merit but other considerations ,that we all know well.

Was it not here that we heard that in 2016 it was Mikel that funded their flight to Rio Olympics after hotel bills couldn't be paid and at times players travel to tournaments with insufficient kits or even pay coaches on time.

Looking at our AFCON team selection it does in a perverse way mirror our politics at all levels.

RECYCLING of the old never seeking innovation and or the new.

I did Shehu a disservice the Cyprus league is 3 places higher than the Turkish league. He should really be in the team.

And considering our selection methodology, strengthened with the appointment of Eguavon.

It's business as usual.

Are those currently in the technical department inept? Have they been able to contribute anything significant since being in the committee? What exactly have they been allowed to contribute to the development of football in Nigeria?

Questions like the ones Seyi asked will at least give you a picture of how interested the said politician is in moving the game forward. A few years down the line, we can all agree he didn't make the wrong decision
Do you know , sometimes you can go for a job interview, be offered the job and reject it.

Why because you know you are WAISTING YOUR TIME.

I stand with Seyi, he is not going to change the organisational culture of ineptitude and corruption single handedly.

And more so when you can see that from the top there is absolutely no iota of sincerity. You must also understand that its not everything Seyi is going to divulge, he is going to be diplomatic.

He will decline and let sleeping dogs lie.

I talk from personal experience in Nigeria as well, so l appreciate his position.

I think the underlying answer Seyi was looking for is the big picture of Nigerian football. The Nigerian football federation has no vision, it has no long or short term plan. We for the most part only prepare for tournaments. Anyone who knows his onions avoids settings like that. The last few years has been terrible cause we got a lot of PR with little development. Save the super eagles every other aspect of our football has gone down the drain. From age grade competition and the entirety of women football.

No matter how technically sound Seyi his, a setting like th NFF will make him look incompetent. The vision of the association for football should ideally fork the day to day framework for the technical team. That's why the appointment of the new coach is laughable. He's coming to do what exactly? What are his KPIs? He was smart to refuse the offer

Agreed without question ❓

When you have worked in a professional football environment with the correct structures and process management in place. Convention and organisational culture is established with integrity, due process, honesty and probity.

In addition to established KPI's and a clear strategic vision underpinned with quantifiable outcome deliveries short and long term.

You will know very quickly ,when you are dealing with a bunch of inept, posturing, lacking in knowledge clowns and know to stay well clear.

Because there is NOTHING you can do and you are being set up to fail. Add to that your not hungry and desperate for money and have INTEGRITY.

Unfortunately many here will not understand that, including TheGoodJoe.

It seems Patrick Viera doesn't rate Eze at all.
Eze has returned from injury in more than a month now and has been making CP bench but till now Vieira still hasn't felt starting him.
I think he has only made a cameo once or twice when Palace were convincingly winning.
Gallagher has taken over and Eze career that started brightly with Palace last season is shacking already this season.
Eze got COVID 19, that's why he couldn't play.

Let me respond to just the bolded. He has no right to seek such clarification. It is the height of disrespect to the GWG and insult to our sensibilities. It is a recipe for disaster. No matter how good your form, you cannot seek such clarification from your NT coach. Not even Messi or Ronaldo can make such a call. No matter who a player is, the greatest honor your country can extend to you is to invite you. If you want to accept, you accept. If you do not want to accept, just decline. When you accept, you come fight for your place, you sweat it out and stake a claim for yourself. Even if you are not in the first 11, so long as you are part of the team, you give all your effort and energy towards the success of the team.

Assuming he calls Eguavoen and says Heyy coach, you see how hot my form for watford is? Well I can only honor that invite if you assure me that I will have sufficient game time. Eguavoen now says ohhh yes, please come, you will surely have sufficient game time.

How do you think the other players will feel? Rancor, bitterness, animosity and division will spread through the camp because as human beings we recognize this kind of action for what it is: favoritism.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not saying that Denis should not decline. He has a right to decline. He even would be justified to say that he wants to stay back and help his club. However it is totally unacceptable if he declines on the basis that he wants an assurance that he'd be given a starting place. Such an attitude should not be tolerated at all.
You are not privy to what goes in the SE,, the little I have been told first hand I'd really not surprising but still DISSAPOINTING.

I am not surprised with what I'm seeing here. A lot of people never liked Dennis, right from the beginning. The assumptions about his attitude contributed to this.

Dennis never rejected a call up. He even celebrated it on his social media account but due to the ideas people already have about him in their minds, they'd rather believe otherwise.

If you want to kill a dog, give it a bad name, especially when you feel intimidated by that dog. Especially when that dog seems uncontrollable.

But you know one thing about Dennis? He doesn't give a fvck and I love that about him.
Dennis is self made her did not use or needed the SE to further his career.

If l was Dennis I would ask myself by some questions, will going to the AFCON boost his career ❓Then when he comes back will he have the same upward trajectory ( pray he doesn't get injured)

Nonetheless, the NFF have not been honourable.

Ademola clearly just made the decision to play for Nigeria official this year, he obviously wanted the English FA to make a move. Again, this is not the first time the English FA has delayed the switch of their youth internationals for us, same thing was done with Iwobi's switch.
I posted a Sky news report of over 2.5 year's ago in which he made committment to change allegiance.

You can go further he went for U17 trials when he was at Charlton along with Ovie but they were no selected.

I actually don't think any European based player was at the time. Why do you think that happened ? It was similar with Mbappe rejected by Cameroon FA, I guess it's an African thing.

Although I really don't see why they should be recruiting U17 players in Europe, thst will hamper local football development.

I've given several change of allegiance examples that did not take more than 6 weeks with the English FA to African countries. But when it's Nigeria it takes years why ,huh. I've talked about Ovie over three years ago made his commitment.

There was absolutely no delay with Iwobi he was not even a prized asset at the time in the eyes of the English FA.

You know how we are and you make assumptions in the negative and bypass our own issues and place the blame on the English FA.

So they process nationality switch faster/slower based on the said player's value? It's like something is seriously wrong with you. Did Shola Ameobi and Victor Moses have the same value when their own took 10 months to process? Defending incompetence to the core has always been a Nigerian thing
Caulker made public his intention to change his international allegiance on the 27th of September 2021. That was when he made the intention.

The Sierra Leone football association then were able facilitate his FIFA clearance in good time to present thier team list to CAF in December 2021.

So you can make an informed projection of 3-6 weeks as a matter of fact. His FIFA clearance was confirmed in the media in early December.

Somehow the small Sierra Leone football association can complete the administrative switch of allegiance in less than 6 weeks. But the NFF will take 3 years.

Many will want to defend the indefensible here and create a narrative of disinformation and misinformation to justify the unjustifiable. But what's new , it's normal practice.

Nobody had ever questioned why it took Akpoguma overnight essentially to get FIFA clearance and play for the SE. Particularly when he was making public his rejection of Nigeria, players Like Ademola, Ejaria, etc were making their commitments public.
