andrewbaba44:I said this from the beginning Bundesliga is not EPL. Timo Werner will have to adapt and improve to have an impact in the EPL. From what l have seen he has a lot to learn. Many were saying it's the end of Tega. I see it the other way if all those players he bought do not start perfoming, £200 million is not baked beans. We will not be talking about Tega loosing his place but Frank Lampard getting the sack. The EPL is highly impatient, he should know. |
Subzero47:He is Angolan got it mixed up. Don't know how he found himself in TB Joshua's arrangement. That made me to think he was Nigerian. |
Karlovich:Agreed without reservation the first proposition. However, Ekong is not in a top team and is not one of the best defender or in the top 10 CB's in the league. I would have expected him to be going to an EPL team not a Championship team or in the alternative another team in the top 3/4 Leagues in Europe. But he has not WHY ❓ The better players in a league get promoted and the lesser players get demoted, thats my proposition. |
Danielnino00:And Tega just sits down with a chair in the middle of the park and leads the cheer leading. |
Subzero47:Is that the short Nigerian origin player from Manchester United ❓ Plays midfield mostly. If it's him the Portuguese game will suit him more and enable him to develop. |
andrewbaba44:But you are having to scrape the bottom of the historical pot to find examples. However, it's not the pertinent point, which is that the EPL is so competitive that any team can beat anybody at anytime if you do not take each game seriously. Now compare the complete dominance of Barca and Real in La Liga, Or Juventus in Seria A, or Bayern in the Bundesliga. But l deviate, l was trying to explain the quality of the Championship in comparison to any other league second tier league. Watford got relegated with the more or less thier entire squad thet could not beat Sheffield Wednesday. You have brought Huesca into the discussion. With thier budget they would struggle in league one. Thier main and number one striker Okazaki will.not get an EPL team. And will certainly struggle to get a good ambitious Championship team. But you argue that money is irrelevant well at least some here. Whether you like it or not better players follow the BETA £££€€€€. |
Karlovich:Not all leagues are the same. And not all second tier league are the same. Watford has just been relegated to the Championship and they have not lost up to 2/3 players. But in their game against Sheffield Wednesday they were held to a draw. This is literally the same Watford that beat Liverpool 3-0 and 2-0 home and away. Tell me a team that got relegated in La Liga that was able to beat Barcelona or Real or in the Bundesliga or Seria A. |
TheSuperNerd:La Liga has huge disparities in quality you have Barca and Real, then Sevilla and Athletico, then a group of 5/6 teams. The rest are struggling for quality. Consider that the most expensive player in the Leganes team is Omeruo who cost €5 million. If you look at the Championship maybe the bottom end in general most teams will exceed that with players costing in excess of £10 million. So being in lower level team in a top league does not equate to being a top quality player. However, a top performing player in the Championship will exceed £20 million. So I do not think it is a step down in some regards a step up, If he does well he will be in the EPL. In reality it puts a question mark on his quality, after a season in Seria A his value has not increased it seems and no other club in Seria A wants him. |
TheSuperNerd:The same league that Borussia Dortmund paid £25 million for a 17 year old, who played for Birmingham city fc a few weeks ago. There must be something good in that kick and rush league that they recognise that you clearly DO NOT SEE. |
Karlovich:Omeruo was far from impressive in the Championship and could not generate any interest. So he went to lower leagues like Turkey and then to a relegation club in La Liga. After a whole season in La Liga he has not able to generate any interest from La Liga clubs. Why ❓ |
charlesemeka85:Online degree is available. If the money is right every player moves, nobody has come in for him with the right money yet. Will anybody only time will tell, he also has to uo his game to get the next level. Being DM is not just about tackles and interceptions, there is more. |
Starboytwo:There are many Nigerian players on a good track but for some reason, all eyes are on a player who has done NOTHING so far. We should talk about players who are doing something. If he does something, l will talk about him. But for now NUTTIN to report. |
BascoVanVeli:2 much 9iceness luvin this tune. Meanwhile he did mad ting Las night he scored. |
IDENNAA:Foe someone who claims to be living in Houston Texas, l am baffled. Even with the awareness in the mainstream of " black lives matter " you still are TOTALLY IGNORANT. Because you are English and black you will face continous and consistent discrimination whether you like it or not. THERE IS NO UNDUE PRIVILEGE. There is still a preference at the highest levels of football. You overcome because you have shown you are outstandingly BETTER and overcome all the subjective preferences for white players. Today ( believe it or not) l was talking with a former EPL manager and he is yet to get a club to manage. Meanwhile people like Moyes, who have not done as good as him get jobs easily. Thats the reality of being black in the UK there is no UNDUE PRIVILEGE. Boys coming from Africa to Europe do have one advantage that gives them a somewhat devious advantage. They are willing to sign any kind of contract in desperation. Boys born in England will not and as such agents will find African origin players more attractive to get into clubs and get a much bigger peace of the pie. Football is corrupt, this is normal. Finally, there is nothing peculiar or unique about the FAILURES of Nwakali. He just did not perfom and has not since historical youth football glories. He is playing in Huesca, will he be outstanding in the league or in his club only time will tell, meanwhile there is very long way to go for him. |
quickberry:One thing that JJay lacked for all his undoubted EXCEPTIONAL ability he just did not score enough goals to truly cement his place as would class top draw player. And l don't think he got any accolades from African football unlike Kanu and Ikpeba. So if he is not given the highest accolades in Africa do we expect the Europeans to do what we did not do for him. So that idea because he is " African" is open to never ending debate. |
Earthquake1:He is a teenager, 19 years old with multiple clubs seeking to sign him in the EPL. Thats quite a lot of interest for a youth player who hasn't really played any first team football. |
IDENNAA:You did not make a decent case you made a delusional misguided sentiment over hype case for him. He was never going to get a work permit, he has never made the grade for that. He had opportunity in the Eredivisie and even dropped to second tier Eerste Divisie but still found wanting. Could not make any impression on Porto B. So all those long convoluted excuses are not unique to him. Every player goes through challenges it's how you respond to them that proves your QUALITY. He is now in a club that he contributed little or nothing to their promotion. And anytime he kicks a ball you shout excellence. Then compare him to players who have been doing FAR FAR BETTER over the past 3/4 seasons. Thats naked bias and preference favoritism. |
Everton are playing Salford city on the Cup. Suprised Iwobi is not even on the bench, that is cause for concern. However, if he is injured then it is understandable. |
jimmyiovine:Can you expand please, l am not aware of there ever being an election for the position of President of Super Eagles and or if the position even EXISTS. I was in Warri when Amaju won the election for the Presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation. |
Bolowolowo:Chuba has never impressed me, he was exceptional at youth level. Buy struggled to make the step up to first team football, had many opportunities but has been not just mediocre but very POOR. Will he be able to step up from the backwaters of Greece and make and change the fortunes of Middlesborough, I seriously doubt it. |
dymusty86:Everything you have said is assumptive not factual. What happened during the so called selection exercise was a sham. The idea they didn't measure up is simply not true. You only hear about the Nigerian origin boys who made it, you don't know about the hundreds who are rejected by clubs for multiple reasons failed and unfair. Football is not easy irrespective of where you are coming from. Ademola Lookman played Sunday football non league till he was 16. His team played a training invitation game with Charlton and he was trialed and signed within a year he was in the first team. Ejaria was not selected, he was also soon after released by Arsenal came to Liverpool and then made it into the first team. None of these boys has undue privilege or favour as you seem to suggest. |
elunico:You have not addressed the question but justify the outcomes. First or all look at the dominance of Nigeria at U17 level that dominance has been consistent and continous. However, there is no commensurate return that reflects that high level dominance, when it comes to progression in the senior game in top leagues or teams. Let's look at Brazil team of 2009 that did not get as far as Nigeria. But look at Neymar, Coutinho, etc World class players to mention a few. Now compare that to where our players are now. Then without prejudice you can see there is a problem. |
Starboytwo:You perceive the matter as being CONTENTIOUS but why ![]() England and Nigeria are not in contention. You have completely gone into a path not in discussion. Let me remind you, core question, why do Nigerian "exceptionally talented youth players" fade away and or don't in commensurate numbers progress to higher levels of the game. And your response is U17 Nigeria will beat England U17. I explained my definition of talent and the limitations of so called talent without nurturing and development. I did not add the issues of age cheating at youth level as a factor. |
feelme2020:What do you call talent? For me talent is potential yet to be realised that needs to be nurtured and developed to become exceptional. I have talked about the training regime in a lot of the top academies. Kick and rush has been buried and cremated in Englands top football academies it's now about the technical ability merged with athleticism. Most indeed the larger majority of Nigerian youth players will seem very good in Nigeria. But on arrival in Europe will find huge gaps in their football education. As a consequence they will be lacking in technical ability, game strategy and management as well as decision making. This is why after doing so well at youth level they just seem to fade away not attaining the higher levels in football. In addition they end up playing youth football in the academy just to get up to the standard required. With your proposition in the bold. How do you explain Ademola, Oviemuno, among others scouted at U17 but dropped as not being good enough. Within months they were playing first team football. You could add Eze to that scouted but dropped. Then all are remembered when they blow. We can not get away from our DNA corruption it touches every facet of life in Nigeria. If there is a way to manipulate a situation for pecuniary benefits we will definitely take it. The NFF is not exempt. |
kennysville:For me there are two Iwobi's one that plays exceptionally well for the SE. And another one that is inconsistent in his club and league. Yes, Iwobi has had some very good games but he has also had some mediocre ones. When we look at him in comparison to the above average AM like Maddison, Perez, Mount, Cantwell, then look at his goal tally and influences on the game it's poor for a AM. He has not upped his game. On the wing he looks like a makeshift he is not exceptional. But back to the SE, he has been very good, but unable to transfer that form to club and league football. I could say that Iwobi has not had any competition in the SE for a very long time. The only direct competition that he did have Sone Aluko was dropped. |
nexta007:Cultural norms and values create EXPECTATIONS and PERCEPTIONS. Women in the West consider marriage a quest for companionship and Love in a partnership as a consequence CHARACTER is intrinsic to the relationship. Women in Nigeria consider marriage predominantly a step up to financial independence and love is anchored on, "What can he offer Me" And your socio-economic standing much more important than character. As a consequence, the wife can quite often be considered as a glorious house help. That is there to attend to all your needs. These are all stereo types. However, if you first and she secondly have true in depth unquestionable Christian Character, then you are BLESSED. Get married and live in loving peaceful harmony. |
Philosopher1979:Do you know how many quality strikers are already in the top EPL academies waiting for an opportunity. Our 17 boys coming from our local academies have a long way to go, before jumping to an EPL club. |
realpoacher:Well this is the first day of the season and you have jumped to conclusion way too quickly. Liverpool were pushed to the brink yesterday by Leeds. Fulham were beaten by a very resurgent Arsenal and WBA were schooled by a Leicester. Last season Sheffield United were promoted stayed up and finished 9th just below Arsenal. So that your proposition is not true. There are 36 games to go. Last season Watford beat Liverpool but still got relegated. |
Everton are playing good Quality technical football. They are pushing Tottenham and Rodriguez is looking very influential can shoot too. Ancelotti is getting the team he wants. I am concerned for Iwobi he is really going have to UP his game to be a regular in this team. That's good news for the SE he can only improve. |
Omanambala:What baffles me is how blinded some people are with favoritism and bias towards players they like. You are in delusion. The reason they are playing in back water club and mediocre leagues is very simple THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Did JJay, Obagoal, Yobo, Oliseh, Taribo, Ighalo, Musa, Chukwueze, Osimhen, Etebo, Taiwo, etc, etc come from the moon. |
Omanambala:You are TOTALLY & ENTIRELY IGNORANT and have no idea WHATSOEVER what you are talking about. It's better you keep quite and not expose your your lack of exposure. This a comment l would forgive from some one living in a very interior village where there is no electricity, accessible roads and access to internet communication. |
TheGoodJoe:It should not be surprising in my opinion Marco Bielsa is one of the best footballing managers in th world. Pep described him as his mentor. He has not had the best players or decided to spend huge amounts of money on players. He is a great tactician too. |
