mostob: o boy...this vicmo argument funny die. Pls...NFF and Rohr should allow Ighalo and vicmo retire in peace. We are still trying to squeeze in Ejuke and Henry, na those old cargoes we go recall? In fact,Musa's spot in the team is being threatened. Ighalo and vicmo have paid their dues. We move on. Those shouting experience yen yen yen...experience in football nowadays is loosing its value. How old are Mbappe,Sancho,Saka,Haaland,Trent yet these guys are putting up excellent performance.
None of our players are comparable to these players so why make the comparison.
Until these young pretenders can get to the levels of performance and attainment if Ighalo and VM there is no competition.
Utonwanne: So far, Osimhen has been good , his early days is better than that of Ighalo.
Talent, skill and SE style, Osimhen is better.
Here and Now too, Osimhen is better.
Ighalo should enjoy his pension
Assumptive delusion based on sentimental preference.
Osimhen is not more skilful and or technically astute than Ighalo. Victor main attribute is pace.
Victor has not completed two seasons of first team competitive football. So there are many lessons to learn his early good start does not guarantee top quality perfomance in the future.
Will England beg Vardy out of retirement just because he's the PL highest go scorer?? No
Why?? Because nobody is bigger than the national team. If anybody decides to retire let him retire in peace. I'm tired of all this talk of begging retired players.
Agreed but there is one small issue you opted not to mention, WE ARE NOT ENGLAND.
With multiple options in the forward positions.
Apart from Victor Osimhen yet to be proven in a more competitive league. Who else is there.
Danielnino00: Help me ask him o... He wants us to get Saka..he also want us to recall Moses..
What the hell is that?
We have a lot of talented players with huge potentials that we need to invite to the team, but some people want us to recall retired players.. How can we now progress? What special thing did the retired players contribute?
Potential is talent yet to be realised.
When their outstanding talent produces fruit we shall call them not before and by speculation.
Progression in football is the HERE and NOW players who are perfoming NOW.
Philosopher1979: In my opinion, i prefer Victor Osimhen. Osimhen is more mobile and agile and his off the ball work is better. He is also more involved in build up. Ighalo cannot function without a midfield while Osimhen can still function without a midfield Osimhen's pressing is also better (Check out his goal against Valencia. It was not even a pass from his player but a wrong pass from the opposing team). Most coaches will prefer Osimhen because of his hard working all action style. Ighalo is still a good player though
If it comes to playing the intense physical football of the AFCON my first preference will be Ighalo.
Osimhen has limited technical ability and doesn't have the trickery of Ighalo and definitely not his physicality. However, he is faster which is his main attribute.
IDENNAA: Omeruo was our best defender at the last afcon. If he can get a club and keep form he can fight for a place with Ajayi , Ekong and Balogun. Balogun , however , might not make it due to recurring injury problems.
That simply is not true he was at best average and quite poor in several games in particular the Cameroon game. Where both goals scored by Cameroon are attributed to his poor quality.
In actual fact the best defender was Ola Aina who played less games.
charlesemeka85: Kenneth Omeruo could be departing CD Leganes before the close of the summer transfer window, with Cadena SER (via Grada 3) reporting that La Liga new boys SD Huesca are plotting a move for the former Chelsea defender.
CD Leganes lost their top-flight status on the final day of the 2019-2020 season and the Nigeria international does not want to play in the Segunda Division for obvious reasons.
Omeruo is a seasoned Nigeria international, appearing in two different World Cups and winning the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles, so going down with Leganes could affect his chances of earning a call-up to the national team in future.
SD Huesca have a low transfer budget are are targeting the key players in the demoted teams - Leganés, Espanyol and Mallorca - to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Having said that, Leganes parted with five million euros to sign the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner on a permanent deal from Chelsea last summer and it remains to be seen if Los Pepineros are willing to sell him at a discount.
Omeruo, who is contracted to CD Leganes until June 2024, has 51 La Liga appearances under his belt.
Have a look at the Huesca squad, see how many are youth team loans from across European teams, then see how many are free transfers then see how many they actually paid money for in a transfer fee.
I haven't checked thier wage structure.
I have seen clubs operate on a shoe string budget, but this is on another level.
soetanoreoluwa: Currently Victor is the highest goalscorer in the on going afcon qualifier ....club level he's tested n proved.. National team he's currently on increase..
Club level he is tested but not proven to Sane level as Ighalo.
Victor Osimhen has effectively played 1.75 seasons of first team football. You cannot compare that to Ighalo who was the highest goal scorer in the last AFCON.
TheGoodJoe: I actually do not feel Victor Moses has a bad attitude. I think he prioritises his club duties over the national team. He had to cut games to stay fit for his club duties. I also believed he would not risk playing with a knock for the national team.
I feel luring a player who chose to depart is a wrong call. Nothing against the young man. Victor Moses served well but he asked to leave.
It was obviously apparent that his reason for leaving had nothing to do with football.
In the past the fixture time of AFCON conflicted with the first priority of players in Europe. This put a lot of them into a position of contention.
I know for instance because of AFCON it cost Yobo his place at a stage in Everton. In addition made African players less attractive as they would be missing right in the heart of the football season.
Thankfully that has stopped.
Nonetheless, l really don't see anybody in the HERE and NOW better than him. And in a country where we do not have any official certification of birth date. Who is old or older is open to never ending debate.
In this regard Victor Moses is not old and some of those claiming to be younger than him are open to debate.
Danielnino00: You are obviously not as mature and civilised as you claim to be...and you obviously don't have the manly attribute of admitting your mistakes and taking corrections...
TheGoodJoe: Are we ready for another Victor Moses drama? I say we let him go. He has done his bit but I doubt his devotion will be there.
I think our real setback is that we have not yet developed sufficiently as an offensive unit. So we rely on individual performances to see us through tight moments. Rohr should emphasise on pushing the team forward offensively. Rohr should try now. Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Flick, Klopp and some other offensive tactical gems of the moment are Germans.
When a player retires because he is clearly not able to meet the required standard it's accepted and he is commended for his contribution.
Vic Moses left for reasons not related to football, that leaves many unanswered questions.
When you add to the issues the fact nobody in the current SE is better than him as it stands currently. Which of our players in his position can get into Inter-Milan.
We have people making all kinds of negative assumptions based on pure ignorance and prejudice. He has a problem, he has a bad attitude, etc.
I have learned over the years that the media image of a player and his actual personality can be miles apart. So l just don't make those spurious assumptions.
Provoker: komekn is Right. Chukwueze doesn't have salah or mane style of play, you can liken him to zaha, hazard or willian. Chuks doesn't score much goals . I'll say Onyekuru has salah style of play.
You may indeed liken him to Zaha,Willian and Hazard. But he does not have the same quality and has a long way to go to to attain that level.
Onyekuru scores a lot more goals, big YES but can he do it at higher a very big QUESTION MARK❓
Add to that tried and tested and was the highest goal scorer in the AFCON and has been consistently putting in top perfomances. Has the better experience.
Whether you like it or Victor is not tried, tested and proven in the same context as Ighalo. He is undoubtedly very good but he has not achieved Ighalo level yet.
Robben left Bayern in the 2018/2019 season.. The 2019/2020 season which is "last season" has already ended..
Your negative prejudice has so befuddled your sense of reasoning. You seem unable to comprehend the common English. The term last season is qualified by the words, "in Bundesliga".
Let me quote myself verbatim "Almost retired Robben 5 goals from 12 games last season in Bundesliga" Which is 2018/19.
But like a red flag to an angry bull you just cannot restrain yourself.
Olulong: Nobody ever compared both players. They were analysing the style of play chuks and Henry but as usual he obviously cannot comprehend simple English.
Instead of him to focus on how his Borough boys like lookman, Onyedima, seyi ojo are hitting the bottom. He's here hating on home grown players for no reason
Your prejudice and dislike have no restraint.
Below an excerpt from the post that prompted my response "Mane creates and scores, so do Robben and Chukwueze, they have no striking similarities to strikers."
If that is not a comparison what on earth is.
The pertinent value theme being "and scores". Chukwueze has scored 3 goals in 37 games this season and there is no basis for comparison with these world class players.
What on earth has Fred Onyedinma, Seyi Ojo and Ademola Lookman have to with this particular discussion ❓
IDENNAA: de·lu·sion·al /dəˈlo͞oZH(ə)nəl/ adjective characterized by or holding idiosyncratic beliefs or impressions that are contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder. "hospitalization for schizophrenia and delusional paranoia" based on or having faulty judgment; mistaken. "their delusional belief in the project's merits never wavers"
Just passing
Do you really want an English lesson and cause yourself more ridicule.
TheGoodJoe: Very good game so. Astonishing how far many teams have gone tactically. Most importantly, the use of the three man zone press.
However, Tuchel is still giving us a masterclass in build up play. I don't think there is any way back for Nagelsmann here. The individual class of the PSG side is defeating the tactical defensive plays of Leipzig.
Liepzig are an attacking team that rely on fast attacking and the pace of their forwards. However, they have come against a team with more pace than they have.
And the small matter of Neymar and Mbappe.
As a criticism the forwards don't come back to defend.
It's now 3-0 can you see them coming back also don't forget Neymar has hit the cross bar twice already.
IDENNAA: I dont mean to intrude but why always sound angry. Just say you disagree and state why instead of using flamable language that could ignite quarrel. You claim you and your family are educated , civil and exposed.
You have intruded.
And for someone who claims to have lived in the USA the etiquette and suggestive meaning of English diction is TOTALLY lost on you.
If you perceive that l am angry then your perception is warped. But more so, when we consider the words of the infallible book "As a man thinketh so he is" Your words betray you, "Out of the depths of the heart the mouth speaks"
You are opinionated without restraint but then you self birth notions and then ascribe them to me, that's telling LIES and dishonourable, something you may not understand.
At no time have l mentioned on this forum that l have a family or that I do not.
I dont know what level your interactions are but to come to the deduction that the word, delusional is inflammatory says a lot about you.
You joined Nairaland in January and in the short time you have come on this thread you have caused more strife, division, bitter contention and hostility than any other contributor I have known and that's over several years.
TheGoodJoe: Are you guys seeing Leipzig. Attacking the bigger club. Not sitting back with fear. Imagine why i was sad seeing Rohr sit back against South Africa.
Yes l am, but not very wisely they are wide open for a blistering fast counter attack by PSG.
They should really not be going GUNG HO or the match will be over by half time.
