daveP: Quality players can be in a backwater league. We seem to forget that a player's career is like a ladder to the top with stairwells and shortcuts and an elevator nearby. The bottomline is some are too good for the league they're in but can't attract bigger interests because what they do may be basic or no different. Some take a league by storm and get a chance at the elevator but will be smart to use the stairwell(Orban for example)
Some will be stagnant in backwater riding on old glory and won't mind moving.
Some will get their lucky break close to the end of their prime and still use Elevator.
Some are good enough to fill up quota. Some just chase the bag mainly.
Backwater leagues can contain excellent ballers but for time
Great leagues can contain prime otu and nonsense ballers despite exposure to all that technicality and sound managers.
This thing is not 2+2 always. I see it as norms and exceptions.
The main thing is just prove yourself consistently till your signature is craved by more than 1 teams at the top of ladder, stairwell or elevator. Else, na OYO. The difference between quality outstanding top players and good is one main word CONSISTENCY. The ability to perform at high level week in week out over the course of several seasons. When you don't you get dropped. What you see is players from backwater leagues playing at the very best they can or have ever had. But to do it with CONSISTENCY that's the problem. South Africa will get beaten by Nigeria comprehensively. |

mostob: Who told you Onyeka is not a DM please? That is his primary position. He is just like Kante. DMs like them like to roam rather than stay rigid and hold position in the midfield.
To your last question, Yusuf doesn't have that physical presence to play as a DM. His height is another issue too. He is not in any way like Ngole Kante. |

EEGA: We should forget the trophy if anything happens to VO9.
These your other strikers can't play under this system.
Iwobi plays a defensive role(DLP), in this set up.
You will need to change our formation and tactics if you are to start other strikers.
Other Strikers will not be able to score against SA in this current set-up, not forgetting the game against SA in Uyo where Iheanacho started and we were beaten 2-0.
Morocco could not even score this SA team.
You expect Moffi or Iheanacho who will be needing a totally different set-up, with about 2 creative midfielders to be able to score to start.
These other Strikers are not anywhere close to Osimhen. They won't even be able to give an "A" game in this set up. KC I feel should not be in the team he's not match fit and is not in form. But Moffi is the unknown quantity waiting to prove many of you wrong. If Moffi starts he should score two at least. |

talk2docee: So is it at this stage... The coach should be making 'try and error'? what are friendly matches and group matches meant for? Osimhen is not injured, you want to bring in Moffi? All because he has not scored more goals as a striker? He contributed to all the goals scored in this tournament! Abeg make una leave that guy! He remains a threat to opposing teams...
I repeat if Osimhen does not start that match against South Africa... Then let's forget finals! I disagree the little I've seen of Moffi he has trickery, skill and yet still strong not too fast but fast enough. He will be an unknown quantity. Right now everyone knows VO and how he plays and over prepare for him . I think with Moffi they will be a bit confused 😕 as to how to deal with he has the element of Surprise I also expect him to be HIGHLY MOTIVATED. I don't by any stretch of the imagination think he is better than VO but he is unpredictably different. That might work to our advantage. |

But it was clear he was sweating blood and tears and running relentlessly and burning himself out because he never gives up It's not surprising that he has had an abdominal muscles strain. He had over worked, coaching staff needed to manage him much better . |

Amedino99: osimhen has two disallowed goals, 6 big chances missed. There is no way you can look at these stats and your conclusion is that he has been subdued by defenders.its almost as if you have not watched him during this tournament. What's the purpose of a defender ❓To stop you from scoring essentially, the question ⁉️ is have they succeeded. 1 goal 🥅 in 5 games , what do you think 🧐 |

Kog45: Awoniyi is only CF that can give us paltry Osimhen style.....Awo in Afcon would have give us real last 20 minutes tormenting coming in as sub.....I don't think Moffi and Onuachu can do it cuz I don't see reason why Peseiro will keep very tired Osimhen till 90 minutes. Onuachu is too slow to press any defence, he needs support. When he played in the EPL he got exposed , to use Onuachu you have to play to his strengths. Most times in these tournaments your squad depth and strength are pivotal. We have too many passengers in the squad. Moffi may be able to offer something different and maybe effective but without him being given opportunity,we will never know. Sometimes, it's at these times players take opportunity and claim position but they MUST be given opportunity. |

So you are not seeing that the front three have forged a chemistry out of the fire of practical on-field football? You think those things are guaranteed abi? Na wa for una. So they should just put Moffi to see what Moffi can do? Successful manager's try different things they don't do the same thing all the time. The most important thing in football is opportunity. If Moffi is not given the opportunity to show what he can do , HOW WILL WE KNOW if Moffi can do better or even comparable.to VO. Moffi is a different from VO let's try something different, it's very simple. We are not saying don't play VO, but we should try Moffi , for the first half and then VO in the second half. |

Funny guy You are talking about club football Vs National football in a two week tournament. You cannot compare contention between players and coaches to what's happening with KC. The facts are staring at you , not played since December 2nd, he is not in form, 20 games in championship and he has scored 5 he is joint 38th position in the scoring table. He has gone from injury treatment table straight to the AFCON. You don't need any in-depth understanding to know KC is not match fit . And even.if he was he out of form and struggling as it stands. |

Joebie: That’s the only thing Osimhen has done poorly— conversion rate. Everything else, he is GOLD. I think you are gassing it , are you worried 😩 if you present a not so popular view that contradicts the larger majority of fanatics, you'll get roasted 🍠 His attributes of relentless determination work rate and aggression are not in dispute. But tactically some issues the rate at which he goes offside is too much. He is not got deceptive skills to beat players he relies on pace. That works in Seria A but not in the AFCON with so many strong powerful athletic fast muscle 💪🏿 head 🗣️ Africans as defenders. These are issues that prevent him from scoring. |

Mujtahida: It's not about tasting action oo. There must be real practical reasons for them to come in. At Afcon 94, Rashidi played all the matches. I read you as if you are feeling sorry for Moffi and Iheanacho (unless I am wrong and I hope I am).
It's cliché to say you don't change a winning team or strategy. Sounds ordinary but if you try something else and dem knack you kpako, you will be filled with deep regret.
We forget that this strategy was adopted because of the glaring weakness of our team. And the weaknesses are still there oo but this strategy has enabled us manage them better.
The only reason why I'd call for Osimhen to be subbed are: If he's tired or we are leading by at least two goals. No be to just remove am fiam just to give Iheanacho and Moffi play time oo. If you take unnecessary risk and e back fire, you go piss for pant.
If I am Peserio I will do exactly what he has been doing. Yes it's predictable but predictability of itself is not bad if your opponents don't have superior strategy to deal with you. Arjen Robben was highly predictable. Even you and me know say him go cut to his favorite left foot but oya stop am na. That's the rub. VO is very predictable is that what you are saying that being the case should we not do something unpredictable and bring in Moffi absolutely not KC but Moffi. |

Afcon semi final and you want Osimhen benched no be juju be that. I'm very very sure Tinubu will call NFF president and warn him of such madness.
Lol. You Wan bench our MESSI. Stopped being OTT and overcome with emotive sentiment. Moffi is not underperforming in his league and club and neither is VO. The striker's primary responsibility is to score anything else is an advantage. VO is struggling to score, Moffi should be given a chance to show what he can do . At least for the first half and if he scores them he stays and takes the accolades. As it stands AFCON defender have got VO marked and he is struggling to score one goal in 5 games is not good for him or the SE. |

yinkeys: Most of the British bred guys are more technically sound compared to the Nigerian bred with the except Iheanacho and a few others The guys here usually play with heart, hardwork, raw talent etc Osimhen would improve properly if he hires a personal coach for injury & energy management & for other things like this during holidays He needs to fine tune a few things to become a lethal finisher I believe Harry Kane is still a better striker than Osimhen Victor can improve nevertheless It's like people are afraid to say the obvious. VO greatest strengths are his relentless, never stop work rate, the raw determination and blind rage he uses to play . He is like a man on a mission that overcomes his handicap by his unparalleled mental attitude and single minded aggressive force to succeed. In this regard he is the best. However, against equally fast, physically stronger 💪🏿 more robust and highly determined black African muscle head defenders he is struggling. World class players use techniques, skill, deceptive play to overcome obstacles. These are not the attributes of VO. VO relies on his aforementioned unique attributes, it's not going to be very successful in the AFCON that's now proven. It's time for Moffi to come and maybe Victor can come in as a substitute to replace him or even complement him as second striker. Right now AFCON defenders have read him , he does the same thing he is not unpredictable. He is still absolutely essential but we need to try Moffi and see what he can do. It's avwin win if Moffi does nothing for 45 minutes. Then unleash a refreshed and full of running with greater determination VO, for 45 minutes of non stop aggression I think he will score at least two in such circumstances. Particularly as players always tire in the last 40 minutes of a match . |

Goke7: na wetin people no wan understand be this, the coach has his plan b already and we are here breaking our heads. He has said if he's looking for goals Iheanancho can come in, I wonder what's all this fuss about oshimen not scoring. I was worried earlier during the group stages but having understood the coach's intention in later games, I calmed down. Why do people create a self birthed narrative and present a pack of lies as truth. Fact, KC is not match fit , he has not played since December 2 , came to SE straight from the treatment room. Leicester actually said he was not fit for the AFCON. Peseiro has said essentially the same thing, not fit enough though play. Add to to the fact that he has been poor over the past three seasons. He is not going to change anything. He really shouldn't be in the squad.

Not playing his bench is a bit concerning.
If Osayi is injured why not play Musa, Chukwueze and Moffi. They all can play on the wings and add the needed pace. Why run your first 11 ragged when you have a formidable bench? .
I don't get that! Formidable with old man expired Musa, then Chukwueze ( dribbling plus dribble no end product) Moffi ,l see more as a striker not a winger, but I could be wrong. The bench is not formidable, too many passengers |

After 4 seasons in the EPL and a 124 amazingly entertaining games with unbelievable skill, trickery, unparalleled swag, dribbling and leaving players catching air, JJAY scored 14 goals I'm sure he a huge number of assists, ( I don't know how many) But the statistics are not flattering considering his absolutely incredible skill levels. Iwobi has scored even less by comparison after 239 games and 9 season in the EPL he has scored 20. To put into perspective Yaya Toure scored 20 goals in the 2013/14 season for Manchester City.
