BlackViper:This story from Mali is the usual propaganda you hear from these jihadi sympathizers worldwide. The use of massive disinformation they use to deflect attention from the real issues. There's a possibility in a worse case scenario of alleged rape BUT to talk about organ harvesting in the midst of an ongoing war on the JNIM jihadi terror group (operating currently in over half of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic), that's preposterous! |

MICHEALADEX:Succinctly stated. |
ChiefOloye:ChiefOloye, Your post is a bit alarmist. This intervention in Benin Republic is an ECOWAS military initiative alongside France which Benin also appealed to for support. Cote D'Ivoire also sent an Air Force platform and Ghana military too is involved. Back in the 1990s, Nigeria also intervened in Liberia and Sierra Leone as ECOMOG in the Liberian Civil War and defended democracy in Sierra Leone. Second, the Fulas are a minority group and do NOT dominate Niger Republic. It's the indigenous Hausas who constitute slightly over half of Niger Republic's total population. Hence 1 out of every 2 Niger Republic citizens are Hausas and Hausaland extends right across the border into Northern Nigeria where the larger population of Hausas (of approximately 80 million worldwide) exist. So, it's LARGELY the indigenous Hausas on both sides of the border who out of FEAR and concern didn't want the military intervention by ECOWAS in Niger Republic. NOTHING is going to happen to the indigenous Yorubas of Benin Republic like you are suggesting. Benin Republic is where over 30 indigenous Obas exist from Ajase to Ketu and more. The Yoruba cities and towns such as Ajase (otherwise called Porto Novo), Ketu (spelled in Francophone lingo as Ketou), and many more are safe. Many Yoruba Military officers serve in the Beninoise armed forces and hopefully everything will be resolved. When Sunday Igboho was detained by the Beninoise authorities (after he disappeared and escaped arrest in his Ibadan residence by supposed security men and he tried to travel to Germany via Benin Republic), the Yoruba lawyers who are citizens of Benin Republic and Nigeria simultaneously defended Sunday Igboho so there's a brotherhood on both sides of the border. |
FreeStuffsNG:13 Soldiers Arrested In Benin Republic Over Coup Attempt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoRHnwmxa60 TVC News Nigeria • Massive congratulations to those elements who upheld the principles of democracy in Benin Republic and crushed that coup attempt. Benin Republic is a sister nation to Nigeria with at least 2 indigenous ethnic groups of Yoruba and Bariba (or Batonu) in both countries. Yorubaland extends from Nigeria right into Benin Republic to Togo... while Baribaland where the U.S.-based Farooq Kperogi hails from in the North of Kwara State) also extends into Benin Republic. Those of us who have advanced knowledge of global geopolitical dynamics know full well that it's the jihadi group called JNIM (which is affiliated to Al-Qaeda and illegally operating in the West African Sahel countries of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger Republic where over half of each of these 3 countries are in the FULL control of the JNIM jihadi terror group) have triggered a lot of these IRRESPONSIBLE military coups in West Africa. Second, lot of Benin Republic soldiers have died from ambushes by JNIM jihadi group in Northern Benin Republic. Northern Togo too has experienced surges in jihadi activities. The sooner the West African countries partner with the European Union, the United States, China, and other allies to engage in joint military operations using surveillance and attack drones, low-earth orbit satellites and sharing advanced intelligence, the BETTER for West Africa and the world. Period. |
ManirBK:Mtchew. These guys in Nigeria aren't serious at all! We know full well that the death penalty would stop these drug trafficking cases as seen by what Buhari did when he was the military head-of-state. Lethal injections, electric chairs, and hangings MUST be enforced to strike fear into these highly IRRESPONSIBLE drug barons and deter them from further damaging the society. Period. |
AfonjaPriest: |
Peterobiisathie:Singapore and China are far MORE serious countries than Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Kenya, India, Thailand, Seychelles, etc, BECAUSE once you are caught for hard drugs trafficking, it's death by hanging, electric chair or lethal injects. These are the same unserious countries that keep shouting about the relentless surge and arrests of drug traffickers and barons from mainly the SEast of Nigeria. 30 years for that heinous crime in Sierra Leone is an act of lack of seriousness. Nigeria is even far WORSE in terms of sentencings than Sierra Leone. Period. |
helinues:Don't you have direct access to folks like Femi Gbaja who is the cure Nigerian President 'Bola Tinubu's Chief-of-Staff and Tinubu himself? If you don't then whatever opinions given on NL will NOT get to both of them. My irritation with Tinubu is that he doesn't seem to realize that time is running out in the lead up to the 2027 Presidential elections with the lack of sense of urgency to deal with the insecurities on behalf of the States who don't yet have State or community policing. The States too have to do something like the SW States have done with the creation of Amotekun which uses conventional weaponry and metaphysical means to subdue criminals because all security worldwide is LOCAL! Fortunately he now has General Christopher Musa (rtd) as the new Minister of Defence which is going to make a lot of difference. Second, the Fulas are the ones primarily causing a lot of the major security problems for Tinubu yet he largely packed them in sensitive positions in his Government to the exclusion of the majority indigenous Hausas of the Hausa States. The Hausas have in several videos I have seen have vowed NOT to vote for any Fula politician in the next elections because they have surreptitiously taken over power from the Hausas as Governors, Deputy Governors, Ministers, Senators, Emirs, etc. How can a minority Fula people from the Berber paternal ancestry from North Africa who have NO ancestral homelands in Nigeria unlike the Hausas, Yorubas, Nupes, Berom, Jukuns, etc, so boldly corner power from the Hausas in all the Hausa States. This is why the foreign Fula militia bandits have continued to attack Hausa communities and other Middle Belt States and this is why Hausa females and males have vowed NOT to vote any Fula. The videos are still online. President 'Bola Tinubu has to sit up and take note of these unfolding geopolitical events. That coalition party being led by the Fulas, Atiku, Nasir El-Rufai, Lamido, etc, is what the Fulas are trying to use to take power again then that will make the insecurity situation worse. |
DeLaRue:"Your country needs you." The bolded right ABOVE is the famous mantra from Lord Kitchener's World War call up for folks to join the military in order to confront the German onslaught. |
FreeStuffsNG:Succinctly stated by Aliko. That's pure universal principle. With 8.7 million babies being born annually as stated by Aliko in that video, that's an average of 87 million Nigerian children born within 10 years. Luxury items such as the "sexy" Rolls, Bentleys, and private jets can come later when all is set and done. Sustainable real sector industrialization in every region in all emerging markets is key. Period. |
HonNL:These situations MUST be avoided from here on out. The NAF requires more air platforms in this war on foreign Fula militia bandits from the Sahellian countries of West Africa, the Tuareg-led Lakurawa bandits from Niger Republic and Northern Mali, and the criminal jihadi groups such as BH and ISWAP (which is the breakaway faction of BH), yet an Alpha Jet has crashed again during routine checks. This MUST be investigated to prevent another occurrence. Period. |

God1000:That's impressive. It's now time to kick some ass. To those uninformed posters on this thread who are irresponsibly and ignorantly attacking Rev. Hassan Kukah, you have to be aware that he is from Southern Kaduna where General Christopher Musa (rtd) ALSO hails from. Hence his presence at the event and both men (Musa and Kukah being indigenous to Southern Kaduna) have known one another longer than any of you know. |
Glimpsetv:There is ALSO a needvfor regulation to ensure that ONLY credible young people are allowed to use social media to generate sustainable income based off of good content I see a lot of crappy YouTube videos from wannabe Nigerian YouTubers and bloggers who spread massive disinformation online and fake news as click baits. This MUST NEVER be allowed to continue as China has recently implemented a regulation for content creators on social media which Nigeria can copy to suit her own realities. Period. |
AqualinaXYZ:Be guided in your highly IRRESPONSIBLE use of defamatory comments, derailing of threads and spread of toxic disinformation here. You and your ilk have been warned! While others are giving out functional or useful responses, you and some other irredentists and paid secessionist troll farms relentlessly spew out toxic disinformation and hatred on this NL international discussion forum and other online platforms. This will NOT be tolerated and there will be swifter consequences from here on out. |
TITOPE:All the best to General Christopher Musa (rtd) who is ALSO a General Collin Powell Award winner. He knows very well that the insecurity crisis in the North West of Nigeria is a battle between the foreign Fula militia bandits and the indigenous majority Hausas of the Hausa States so he has to tame these Fula Militia so that the indigenous Hausas can have a breather in their ancestral homelands so that they can go back to their farmlands in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, and generate income for themselves while having their ancestral homelands that were renamed to Fula names returned to them. The same must be done for Benue, Nassarawa, Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Northern Enugu, Edo, and Delta States which have borne the brunt of those highly insidious Fulas. If this can be done security-wise, President 'Bola Tinubu would be massively re-elected in 2027 by the vast majority indigenous Hausas (who vowed NOT to vote for any Fula politician in videos I've seen because of the surreptitious cornering of political power from the majority Hausas by the Fulas) and other Nigerians who need to see things to believe NOT promises. Period. |
aribisala0:Saved. |
SKhanmi:Succinctly stated right there. |
BlackViper:That's just a politically correct statement from the former British PM, Boris Johnson whose great grandfather was actually a Muslim from Turkey. Yes Turkey. A Jewish by the name of Benjamin Disraeli was once the British PM as well. There's NO way Kemi Badenoch will ever be a UK PM with the comments from several White British folks I've seen in online discussion forums, and Boris certainly knows that. Period. |
CodeTemplarr:I'm on the same page with you. Skilled labor employment is good and that has helped Nigerians to get employed in North America, Europe, the Middle East and other parts of Asia including Australia since the 1985 economic downturns triggered by Ibrahim Babangida's SAP economic plan which triggered massive inflation in Nigeria and many foreign expats who I personally have known from the oil boom years of the 1970s from around the world living in Nigeria began to leave for greener pastures in Europe and North America eventually because of the bad economy of the mid-to late 1980s. They came from Ghana, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, United States, UK, etc, and worked as medical professionals, business executives, several academics in Nigerian Universities, High Schools, and Primary Schools right in Nigeria. Many of them and their children are still my friends till date with some working on Wall Street in New York as investment bankers and in the medical fields. I'm a Diasporan as well. The reality is that the oil and gas industry is an international business so Nigeria CANNOT do it alone in that sector. You require some levels of foreign collaboration due to the heavy financial investments required. I also worked with a multinational oil firm located in PH from the 1990s so I know this to be a FACT. Second, I ONLY emphasized on going abroad for leisure and business travel after making it in Nigeria because foreigners too have been going to Nigeria for leisure and business travels especially when there is good security BECAUSE Nigeria has fantastic tourist sites. NO country is an island. The primary focus MUST be on growing Nigeria's economy and many Diasporans are desirous of coming back to contribute their quota to Nigeria's sustainable development because there is are very STRONG anti-immigration sentiments in European, North America (USA and Canada) and Asia (Japanese folks are calling for a STOP to immigration and disrespectful tourists visiting their country) and these usually tend to occur when there is global economic inflation and uncertainties. Last but NOT least, India and China had to close their economies to importation while growing their domestic markets to become world-class. A lot of people do NOT even know that back in 1980, bicycles were the primary modes of transportation for many Chinese in the cities and rural areas. By the year 2000, China was already using a blend of Capitalism and Socialism to boost her economy and today the Chinese have advanced BECAUSE they created a sustainable economic model that is better suited for their own needs. Although we now have a saturation in the job market for some fields hence some young Chinese (China has a population of over 1.2 billion and CANNOT offer jobs in every field) are now doing jobs such as in agriculture and bartending which they did NOT study at the degree and post-graduate degree stages like a Finance course where you expect to be a young investment banker in China. |

nairalanda1:This isn't politics here! I responded to your initial post where you said the now President 'Bola Tinubu left Lagos "broke" as of 2007 when he left office as the Governor. Your claim is totally FALSE! Prior to the return to democracy in 1999, Lagos State and several parts of Nigeria were looking run-down from the devastating military years of IBB's SAP and Abacha's devastating years of ruthless corruption and economic downfall. I witnessed the military rules of Gowon, Murtala, OBJ so things were still relatively OK then with the oil boom of the 1970s. The increase in the United States interest rates back in the early 1980s triggered the financial instabilities in the global economy with many developing countries defaulting or being unable to pay their foreign loans as and when due. From 1985, many expats who I personally knew from the oil boom years of the 1970s had started leaving Nigeria for greener pastures due to the introduction of the so-called Structural Adjustment Program (SAP). Yes, I get your point there about the Lagos State budget size of about 2.5 billion USD... (based off of the prevailing exchange rate), the Lagos State budget which is the highest in history is still very low for that State. This is where the PPP model will have to come in to fix the infrastructural deficits. The gentrification of several areas of Lagos State and more isn't rocket science as long as there is a sense of urgency by using several cheaper alternative methods of construction (such as stabilized laterite bricks, treated bamboo houses), proper town planning and innovative funding models are used. The use of biogas toilets for communities would help to generate biogas for electricity and for cooking. I believe in sustainable solutions, value additions, and NOT in this totally lame VICTIMHOOD and irresponsible complaints some people push around online and offline. |
