The so-called 1993 forfeiture of 460,000 USD out of the 1,800,000 USD in the then Senator 'Bola Tinubu's 8 United States bank accounts was for the backlog of UNPAID TAXES on Investments domiciled in those bank accounts. If 'Bola Tinubu was a drug baron, the United States Government would have thrown him into jail and seized all his assets. The United States Government and Department of Justice don't do plea bargains with drug lords. The man, Ayodele Oke who was the DG (boss) of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) was found to be totally innocent of any acts of corruption in 2017 when 43 million of Nigeria's money was found in the Ikoyi Island apartment and the case has since been dropped even before former President Buhari left office. Ayo Oke has had many years of distinguished service in the intelligence agencies culminating in him becoming the NIA boss. NIA is the equivalent of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for covert international operations. He is therefore over qualified for an Ambassadorial position. Right BELOW are two link sources of EVIDENCE showing how the then NIA boss, Ayodele Oke defended himself as of 2017 and the EFCC was satisfied with his explanation hence with the firm knowledge of the former President Muhammadu Buhari, he was certified OK for the charges to be dropped. About that alleged coup plot and the subsequent denials by the Federal Government and the Military spokesperson, there are indeed times when Intel is withheld from the public all over the world. BUT it would also be to the benefit of the current Nigerian President 'Bola Tinubu to ensure that there is prompt daily and/or communication updates with the public starting from Tinubu himself to his media aides. NOT doing so gives room for FALSE rumors and disinformation by non-state actors (such as these paid ipob troll farms who the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video report on ipob's campaign of toxic hate speech and massive online disinformation, revealed in 2022 were recruited with salaries, free laptops and free monthly internet data given to recruited trolls in their thousands to spread toxic hate and online disinformation) via rogue YouTube channels and other social media platforms like FB, X, (and even NL) since 2014. President Tinubu MUST learn to ALWAYS communicate directly with Nigerians living in the Motherland and in the Diaspora (via TV and YouTube at least once a week just like Obama used to do instead of just clamming up about issues or using his media aides to channel his thoughts to Nigerian folks). Second, I totally agree with you about these cases of alleged political corruption by past Governors and politicians dating back to the OBJ years. Nigeria is a country that has an enervating judicial system and It's NOT rocket science to FULLY digitize their court operations to fast-track court cases. Just like President 'Bola Tinubu and his team have done well by unbundling the Nigerian insurance sector to take advantage of the full gamut of benefits that global insurance has to offer, and the power generation to was removed from the exclusive list to the concurrent list to enable States to now build power stations and generate electricity, the judiciary is one ecosystem that requires FULL unbundling and use of virtual conferencing, computerization/the use of AI technologies in dispensing criminal justice because the EFCC complained as well that the Judges have a lot of workloads and that has slowed the cases of some of these politicians in court down. Second he went to Kano State which is a largely indigenous Hausa State only to thoughtlessly tell the Fula emir he went to see that "Yorubas and Fulanis are one" which isn't historically true as the Fula paternal lineage is from the Berbers of North Africa (Morocco and Algeria) via war and migration into Mauritania. That unguarded comment angered millions of Yoruba folks online BECAUSE Yorubas fought and defeated the Fula invaders (who included Yoruba warriors of Ilorin) at the famous Battle of Osogbo in 1840 and the memory remains fresh in the historical narratives and books. At that time too when he made that comment in Kano, he was battling with an illness so, some of us assumed that he didn't think properly because of his illness. So, things have changed with newer perspectives and is why since the beginning of 2025, Tinubu has been calling on the Federal lawmakers and the State lawmakers to speed up the amendment of the constitution so that States that can afford State Police/community policing can do so. Chidibe212It's totally improper for you to refer to Ayo Oke (who served with the National Intelligence Agency or NIA) as a "crook" based off of these vandalized articles, non-credible and biased Wikipedia entries including posts made by known ethnic bigots trolling around and highly uninformed NL posters. I recall full well reading back then Ayo Oke's full side of the story and his detention leading to a major media trial.
