You are recommending states and countries buy debt, and spread it to the future as the basis for development? Haven't Nigeria's experience demonstrated the futility of this approach? Don't you see that America and the rest of the world are paying today for over-using this approach to economic growth by getting themselves indebted to China. The same China that is buying up Angola? - it is a disaster waiting to happen. Yes, you need debt financing but as long as you don't "own" the capital you can spread it into the future all you want, you MUST not buy more debt than your capacity to pay in the future. And you can't judge whether a country is really developing by the edifices being put up. PapaBrowne: Lagos is a capital of Nigeria and more money accrues to Lagos than to any other part of Nigeria. Lagos has more than enough potential but Fashola did not do anything to unlock that potential. Go to Nairobi and see what is happening there. Even Addis Ababa is experiencing some good development in comparison to Lagos. |
All the answers are correct, yet are also wrong! Ingenious! LMAO |
Also, just so you know I think the rest of the post is great. Wislet: that is not what he means. |
I am not trying to disprove any theory. It says right there "Don’t change who you are for anyone else". Nobody is completely fixed in who they are - that is why they say the only thing constant in life is change. What I am suggesting is not that this advice is entirely wrong, but it needs to be toned down to something like "Do not change who you are for someone who is not worth it or requires more of you than you can do". Your reply is an illustration of what I am talking about - learn to see the areas where people have mutual agreement first before you throw out the baby with the bathwater. His statement and mine are not too far apart, but the difference can bring a whole lot of happiness to many relationships. Wislet: that is not what he means. |
Happy Birthday to the Prof. of Profs. May your years continue to be long. |
I see the advice below all the time when people talk about relationships. In my view it is rather unfortunate. It is very difficult for two fully grown people, even if they have the same background, to live peacefully without one or both being willing to compromise. Thus, this advice should be changed to reciprocate your partners willingness to compromise, if possible. If he/she cannot compromise or accept your best efforts then you must check whether there are other crucial reasons for you to want the relationship to still succeed. If not, you should leave without delay. Your heart will always be left broken if you always get into a relationship to insist "you can't change for someone else" or "you are never wrong" or "you are perfect", and other such nonsense. If that is the case, all you really want is a relationship with yourself only. Someone expects you to be someone you’re not. – Don’t change who you are for anyone else. It’s wiser to lose someone over being who you are, than to keep them by being someone you’re not. Because it’s easier to mend a broken heart, than it is to piece together a shattered identity. It’s easier to fill an empty space in your life where someone else used to be, than it is to fill the empty space inside yourself where YOU used to be. |
I think we know who is talking stupid. I am hearing a new one - Oritsejafor has never been a GEJ supporter? You should learn to finish the political and tribal wars you ignited before starting a religious war. We both know that I am not a muslim, but your penchance for mischief is never too far buried under your veneer of decency. Even if I am a muslim I can say whatever feels right for me to say. It won't be long now before you start claiming that Oritsejafor is not a christian because he spoke against GEJ, conveniently forgetting all the hand-holding he was doing with GEJ since he became president. Better to face reality than to let a group of rag tag BHites flush this president down the tube. Beaf: ^ |
Let me add to that. . . Heheheheheheheheheheheheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee This is how you know Dickson is another satrap with nothing up there for Bayelsa. . .stooge of a stooge! OAM4J: hehehe |
Correct. Oritsejafor recently lambasted GEJ over his non-chalant attitude. I was surprised to see that, and the president needs to know he is losing supporters fast if Oritsejafor can turn against him, but it is understandable. There are things that you take time to decide upon, and there are principles that the history of mankind has established firmly. Confronting those who use terror is one of them. The President is trying to preserve a non-existent political clout at the expense of Christian lives. At some point as commander-in-chief you must stake your own life in the resolute defense of the citizenry. Obama was given the Nobel Peace price when he became president, but the law of imperatives have seen him killing more al qaida leaders anywhere they may be found and by any means possible around the world. Kobojunkie: Oritsejafor, for the first time in a long time, did indict the Government of Nigeria. He did also point that his grouse was not with all muslims but with islamic fascists. |
Even the most efficient security system in the world cannot contain guerrilla warfare, once the Commander-in-Chief failed in his duty to respond swiftly and with maximum force to contain the threat to its origin. GEJ played chicken for so long the problem in the northern part of Nigeria now requires almost a scorched-earth approach to contain - and that must be done very soon to prevent the rest of the nation from being infected with this cancerous cells. Hurry to it Mr. GEJ, these cancer cells don't stop, and would not stop until they are destroyed by maximum force. The president must realize one fact of this situation, BH is not looking for peace, they are looking for death. T-smooth: |
So, why are they telling us? They are the ones that keep creating new committees and government agencies every other day. Those are known for swallowing money and producing NADA. The power is in your hands, do something instead of making empty statements. |
These people have a hugely exagerrated view of the word "government" and the "power" it conveys. GEJ and Sambo can repeat the words "Let there be light" for the next 1 million years, if the real hardwork of reform is left undone the mirage of stable electricity in Nigeria will simply keep moving forward as we approach it. |
Well, you can pray all you want. What are your kids supposed to do if after decades of prayer someone actually went ahead to try to inhabit where you built, and definitely gunning to make it all in vain? Throw the man and his new wife out! The new wife may be or may not be innocent, the real issue is the man's lack of sense. As I said above, if he is rich enough to marry another wife he should be rich enough to get her a new house too. Human empathy would show anyone that the "so called" new wife would move to dispose of the old woman in any way possible. Two women cannot live together under normal circumstances talkless of this type of incogruity. Those who insist on polygamy and continue to practice it only multiply their own pains, and they destroy the future of their own children. jennykadry: I have to agree with Some of ify's points there. What kind of demon possessed these kids to manhandle their father? I still don't get it. I don't support the man bringing in another wife and this is why I always pray that "may I not build for another to inhabit" and may my labor in life not be in vain. This new wife could be innocent for all we care. All this herbalist said this and said that in this 2012 is balderdash. Were this children educated at all? If so it was a bloody waste of time as I see their talent in cassava cultivation in the village. |
There is nothing more asinine to think up, but. . .but in reality the level of incompetence almost everywhere you look in Nigeria is that bad. I hope you realize I am not calling you names. Still, this is an impossibility. It is like saying that Lord Luggard was better than the Oba of Lagos in administering Lagos - even in those days no foreigner was better than an indigenous ruler. Nigeria really has the talented few, but they are overwhelmed by the hordes charlattans. It is only a completely impersonal system, no doubt with the solid help of a powerful foreign ally, that can help such people ever make it to the top of Nigeria's administrative ladder. Unless these talented few take over our affairs, we are at the mercy of frauds and the salve that comes from non-hope hopes. UK Bobo: Thanks for your replies, very honest and sincere. I was keen to stress International management because I did not want it to descend into a black/white historical diatribe. We have completely abused and stripped the world of any iota of fraternity over the past 500 years, history is very clear on that issue (be it Africa, Americas or Asia...).I actually believe that there is a strong pathological gene inherent in Caucasian males, but I digress. |
That lack of a sense of justice always shows up in your post, once it has to do with some religious belief. How can a woman work to raise four kids, the man retires and then for a reward finds the old woman a definite constant source of heartache in her old age. The girl he married is probably much younger than some of his kids. Justice, even if we concede that he can have his "new wife", decrees that if he is rich enough to marry another woman at that old age, he must also be rich enough to get her a house of her own. The old building belongs to the woman and her kids. Period. See! That wasn't so hard, if you only learn to temper religious belief with human empathy. maclatunji: The man has done little wrong! Yes, his 1st wife and kids are bitter but heck! The man has trained them and is not abandoning his first wife. |
Tax collection is not cheap, so the 10% is to cover their expenses - there is a reason the state was only bringing $4 million, instead of $92 million before this reform. In fact, the Federal Government does a similar thing. The difference is that the tax collected by the Federal Government disappears into the same rabbit-hole that consumes the oil funds. In Lagos, if the company collectes $92 million a month, they get to keep $5 milion, and Lagos keeps $87 million according to this write-up. The $5 million fee might be a fair payment for the effort of collecting the tax from millions of people each month and remitting it to the government. htajz: Tax collection, in a system that recalls tax farming in the New Testament or under Louis XIV, is apparently performed by a private company with links to Tinubu. The company retains 10 percent of all revenue collected over a certain threshold (at present, $43m per month).. So tinubu collects ten percent of the tax you all pay in lag , chair naija people don suffer. |
Good. I like, no I pray, to lose this kind this kind of bets for the sake of our nation. But your master never disappoints in failing to fulfill promises. So let's be patient. Another year is about to fly by! dedeike: Bros, Abeg no mind these haters. I'm even surprised that they managed to come and drop their hatred on this thread. Usually when they see a topic that suggests progress or a semblance of it , they just pretend as if they did not see it and look for bad news where they will do their hatchet job for their paymasters. |
I like how our people like to play lose and fast with facts, making it up as they go along. Dembo added that the current refineries in the country produce more than 400,000 barrels of oil a day, and the reported 180,000 barrels a day that the six new refineries would produce is a surprisingly low number. But, he added, it was better than the alternative.Which "current refineries in the country produce more than 400k barrels of oil a day"? It is probably just day-dreaming any way - another wayo announcement just to say that they are working in Abuja. In one year's time they will come around talking about all kinds of excuses! |
PDP is welcome to spend some of the Ghana-Must-Go bags they are spending on their officials on Lagos people. When election time comes people know who and who not to vote for. I love the following quote especially, as in "PDP is the party that would. . .", but won't. I believe the PDP is the party that would bring back the dream Lagos,” Rafiu, popularly called “Otto’’ , said. bashr8: Lagos – Some 2, 000 members of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Lagos, led by Mr Abdulkareem Rafiu, a former security aide to Gov. Babatunde Fashola, on Saturday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). |
Media chat? His country is disintegrating, he is media chatting. Chatting? Are you kidding me? Didn't the new NSA say that he used to live in Jos? Did you know what the evil forces did next? They went ahead and invaded, killing to the tune of 90 people. silica: Moderator, can we have this in the fron page please. This could form the basis of possible future interaction with the President in ay of his media chat. As for me, i think the recent appointment of the new NSA is a step in the right direction. Nobody Knows the north and its culture better than a northerner. I also think thatelements within the PDP should be engaged in tackling the menace. Finally, emplyment should be provided for unemplyed youth or the government should institutute an unemployment benefit to pay uneployed Nigerians till they can provide job for them. Bump |
I hope President GEJ now realizes that a real war is underway in Nigeria. If he doesn't know what a real war commander ought to do he had better call his generals together to draw up full battle plans and go ahead with it without delay - if need be exclude potential traitors. I keep saying it, it is too late in the game to be declaring emergencies here and there. What we need is a full strategy not only to battle this evil, but to cut their routes of escape and extension off completely. My rule is, when you hear of attacks in one place better realize that it could have taken place in areas several times larger, but why not? They are testing your reactions - your defenses are being gradually revealed and accounted for. The two car bombs that went off in Abuja recently, particularly without casualties, should tell any onlooker that they are testing the groundwork for an invasion of Abuja. It is an evident demonstration of this strategy. A complete sweep is the only cure now. Like a cancer - you can't cure it by removing only the damaged portion of the body, you have to cut out infected but yet undamaged portions too. The people of the south cannot afford to let someone hold them down in the name of preserving unity, and be slaughtered by animals of unmentionable names. Every household, street, village, town, city, local government and state must prepare for battle. It is coming whether we like it or not. These people are working under a grander agenda than anybody imagines. Let those who think they are hiding in Abuja know that just as in Jos today there is nothing too sacred for these animals to violate. No person too high up for them not to target. GEJ stop deceiving yourself - they are surrounding you, using your illusory notion of being powerful. I really doubt that this man is capable of waking up from the stupor of power. He is likely to keep repeating "don't scatter my government" even as BH and their cohorts flush him down the tube! Some people here are likely to react to the above by saying it is hysterical. To those people, I ask them to imagine how worse things have gotten in the last 6 months, and then double that over the next 6 months - if Abuja doesn't stamp this thing out right now. The more territory they operate in, the more difficult it is to contain this people, and that territory is expanding by the day. |
Leave the man alone ![]() When they do the improbable to him and his clueless crew he will realize what's going on, but it would be too late. VoodooDoll: I see GEJ still can't differentiate his buttocks from his elbow! |
It is an attempt at diversion. How can two government officials die of fear? I know our thiefticians are lili-livered, but common now. Tyche: Just hope this is not an attempt at diversion. |
Imagine such primitive instincts. What follows after that fully militarized "winner" is done vanquishing his enemies? You think he is just going to throw his weapons away, and become a "dove". Anyway, I have said my own every Nigerian should prepare his/her defenses, and be ready to off anyone that attempts to visit violence on him/her household at sight. Abagworo: Each time I read news of Plateau I just dey laugh. I always warned them against Jangs tribalistic utterances. He went ahead to rig Jos North election and armed his youths to kill Hausas. The best solution to this crisis remains for all Nigerians and the world to hands off and let Hausas and Beroms fight to the last man. Whoever wins takes the loot. |

Who is desperate around here other than you folks? It only makes make sense to the likes of you that the "dear" leader is doing his own national service in Aso Rock with a N1 billion a month food budget, while subjecting university graduates to garri and beans? There is nothing wrong with garri or beans for that matter, but it is not a regular meal package and should not be offered to university graduates as such, except in a nation with a poverty-spreading approach to its future. In this same Nigeria, some responsible states do not offer garri and beans to their school children for lunch - but this is what our FG offers to university graduates, and is vehemently promoted by their shameless backers. We know why this happened - as it has always happened. The officials have made off with the food budget for the camp, and substituted garri and beans for what should have been a well-prepared and nutritious meal for those being subjected to physical rigours. In my service year, the camp commandant heard loud and clear from us, and changed his ways quickly. I urge the corpers to demand an account of how the food budget is being spent in their camp pronto - enough of this mess. Refuse to eat the crap, and mount a protest in the camp - you are not slaves in a fiefdom. Billyonaire: You are so pathetic, if garri and beans reminds you of your poor background, it reminds many us of how far with have come, from grass to self-made billionaires. I offered off-the-book thoughts to the OP to keep her going but you seem to be reminded of your level state of desperation. |
Beaf's reincarnation - you are mightly out of order. What kind of National orientation are you talking about - orientation to poverty? How can you call people for national service and serve them with beans and garri like almajiri? Meanwhile, the "headman" is sitting in Aso Rock "soaking" in N1 billion a month food budget -and doing pretty much zip, I must add. Some transformation this is ![]() Billyonaire: Its called National orientation, how do now feel about the poor and the needy who have nothing to eat than beans and garri. It was on my menu during NYSC, its now your turn, enjoy your camp life and dont complain. |
I am glad they were caught before much damage - now they must face maximum penalty. I hope the rest of the SW is implementing serious intelligence gathering to forestall the evil designs of these lunatics that claim to be worshiping the almighty. Meanwhile, we need rapid exposure of those behind BH in the north where the damage is already beyond repairs. blkmum700: FG arraigns two suspected Nigerian members of Al-Qaeda |
The fact that Khaddafi's erstwhile mercenaries were crossing Nigeria's border during the confusion in Libya was widely reported. At the time many of us pointed out that what they are now crying over is what is going to happen, and stated what needed to be done pronto (see below). Mr. Transformation is always swinging at the bee after he has received deadly stings to his "agenda". It is probably too late in Nigeria to contain BH without turning that zone into a regional war theatre - whereas this thing could have been contained at minimum cost if there was any iota of foresight in at the head of the FG. koruji: Re: Fleeing Ghaddafi Forces And Officials Are In Northern Nigeria I hope GEJ realizes the nature of Ghaddafi, especially after openly calling on him to leave his "throne". Ghaddafi is the kind of person that would send mercenaries to cause trouble for Nigeria. Nigeria has the most to lose from hundreds of his mercenaries left jobless, heavily armed and roaming our northern border. We can expect cross-border raids or coups or rebel movements in some of these countries in the no distant future. GboyegaD: Na wa ooo. Nothing wey person no go hear from this our government. Let us imagine the weapons truly comes from Libya, don't we have our border checks anymore? Or are we saying our security ineptitude is caused by Libya as well? Our government is a big JOKE! |
Yeah, we know who the agents of the devil are. Those who wear sheep's clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves. Just stop comparing your sorry as.ses to Jesus Christ, so that you don't add blasphemy to RUINING A NATION. Johndoe100: @chetaraph and TechRev |
You people are going crazy trying to make water flow up mount everest. Look, Jesus promises the crowd food, and he provided it in abundance. He didn't spend 1 billion a month on his own food, while his followers eat food fit for animals. Jesus would cut-off subsidy-thieves at the knees first before thinking of asking the common to bear another burden. Jesus is not your playmate, STOP COMPARING JONA to Jesus. TechRev: Jesus was also criticized, mocked and finally crucified by the same ppl he came to save so it didnt start today. GEJ will overcome am confident of that even though he walks in the valley of shadow of death he shall not fear. May God be with him |
