We are humans and not animals. Even animals do take care of their own. Empathy is synonymous to being human so it's not out of place to show empathy to the affected.
See my brother, Nigerian government always look for an easy way out as opposed to finding a better and sustainable ways to tackle a situation just to make sure that there is something left to enter their pocket at the end of the day.
It's more economical for whomever that is in charge to bring bulldozer and demolish the whole place, leave it bare and siphon the remaining funds than to find a way to channel the floods properly to a place where it will have no or less effect. Yes some buildings will definitely give way yet a thoughtful government will employ the services of engineers to examine the estate and map out a better way to construct drainages. I don tire to speak grammar my dear but I strongly insist that demolition should be the last option.

From this list, one could see that the the west are doing well after all. I think it's proper you guys allow the East to breath with the little we have been able to conjure for ourselves after the civil war.

Remember, it’s a flooded area. Flooding will also jeopardize the place sooner or later & it can even kill people residing there.

So what will you do?

I am not in the best position to prefer a solution for the government but I will suggest they engage with the residents of the estate, hear their opinions, and what they think will be done to help their situation. Government can as well provide them with options like relocating them to another area. It's high time we start considering the plight of our citizens the way other developed countries does. These are hard times and any decisions that will affect the livelihood of our citizens ought to come with a cushioning effect. Some kind of palliative.

We too like demolition in this country. Our leaders hardly think of a better solution. How can you sack the whole estate just like that?
Demolition should be the last option after all possible solutions must have been exhausted.

What do they say again about those that hold onto the past?

Before the infiltration of the uncultured into our environ, our people where doing great and fending of cocoa, the first TV station was started by our late sage Awo, we have the odua group that was achieving greatness in the business sphere, we had/have 3 of the best universities and they still remain top best till now, ife, Lagos and university of ibadan, we where doing great and thriving of cocoa which was our main source of livelihood, so if your leave with your uncultured self, we will recover our omoluabis status and still do great.

Nothing concerns me with what's happening in all this place you mentioned. You have to quit this comparison for it doesn't solve any of this ugly situations on ground. No be only urban renewal na rural renewal. Do you even stay in Onitsha? Mention the renewal you are even talking about? Dey play!

When Soludo spent our tax money to purchase coconut and palm seedlings and then proceed to hand them out to selected Anambrarians was the moment it dawned on me that the governor is not a man with foresight. A whole lot of Anambrarians are disappointed with him at the moment. He needs to buckle up or bid goodbye to his second-term ambition.
