Frankcallys: I've had so many near death experience in my life but the last one, I stared death in the eye and God said to me " My boy, it's not your time to go, relax and let me take control"
Please don't mind my grammatical errors. English is not my first language biko.
17th May 2016, just 4 days after my birthday party I had in our business center. I was in my office with 5 other people, 10 minutes later 3 of them left remaining myself and another friend sitting right behind me. We were just discussing about... Yeah, soccer!
5 minutes later this guy walked into the office, pulled out 9mm pistol and pointed it directly at my face. Just 1.5 meter away from me. When I looked up and stared him right in the eyes, he corked the gun and I stood still. When I screamed JESUS!!! he looked at me lowered the gun and shot me on my kneecap. I fell down, he walked past me and turned the gun on the other guy sitting behind me, shots started ringing out rapidly.
I sprang with my right leg that was still okay and dashed towards the door as fast I could. I started hearing shots after shots while I was hopping outside, but at the door, I hopped into the second guy, we both landed on the ground. His 9mm stainless pistol fell on the ground. I quickly sprang up again and keep on hopping and screaming JESUS!!!
He picked up the gun, dashed into the office and continue to empty his magazine on the guy sitting inside the office. They shot him 17 times all over. They came out and walked to their Golf 6 Gti and drove off.
By then the street was already empty, people disappeared on hearing the rapid fire from those guys. 5 minutes after the gunmen left, I hopped back into the office with 2 guys that came around, we picked the one that was shot 17 times, put him in the car and we drove straight to the hospital.
When we arrived at the hospital, the doctors and nurses tried to save him, 7 minutes later the doctors came to me and from the look on their faces I knew immediately that the guy passed on. They focused their attention on me and when the cops arrived at the hospital. The doctors referred me to the biggest hospital in Africa, the cops and an ambulance took me there to Soweto Chris Nani Bara hospital.
Immediately they wheeled me into the emergency ward, I fainted. I lost a lot of blood, my kneecap was shattered to pieces. I was shot around 11:17am but arrived at the emergency ward by 12pm. Why the late? It's another miracle I will tell another day.
I woke up 2days later, my kneecap was changed by the best recommended doctor in the whole of Southern Africa! Guess what? He is a Nigerian! Dr. Okafor. Before I fainted at the emergency, I heard him saying "Nnaa, I was told you are from Nigeria and an Igbo guy. Ngwa, relax ukwu gi ga adi mma ozo"
After the surgery, he fixed my leg again. Though I still have stainless steel in my leg, walk normally with only the scare to show for it, I would have been dead if not for Almighty Lord's intervention. I would have uploaded the pic of my knee after surgery but it is a very gross kind.
All I have to say is THANK YOU LORD that I am still well, fit and alive. Mehn!!!. Why did they attack you guys?, wetin d guy do?. Did u find out? |

Only to find myself struggling with a man to let me pass through the gate, the annoying thing was that other people were passing through this gate! After threatening and hurling abuses on the man, i started crying and politely ask him why i was being blocked from going in, he said: 'some one has gone in with your name! So just go back'. The road back was long, vast and lonely but when i turned to go, woke up. i had been unconcious under the sea for 12 hours!!! Wow!. Scary. So them dey impersonate for that side too?. Lol. |

While we were together, she never asked me for anything not even one rand. She just wanna be happy, loved and appreciated. She just wanted to live a simple life with me but I don't understand why all the lies and deception. And her disappearance too
The confusing part which I don't understand till this day is that she always cry emotionally when I treat her with so much love and respect. I don't get that . Maybe she is in a failed marriage and just hiding out to breathe. |

Why we were fired? I joined this company last year, few days after finishing my NYSC, they have the highest number of software developers in Africa and I was loving life, the salary is great with breakfast and lunch
They keep on employing so many software engineer with time the engineer become more than the available job, I saw it coming but I don't know what the board was thinking
2. How did the firing process happen? We have a global (online) meeting which people are asked not to miss, I was not even listening very well to what they are saying, the president said there are more developer than engagement to they have to let some people go, a mail was sent to all impacted people and I discovered what has just happened
Almost 400 people has been fired across Africa
3. Aftermath of being fired… how did you feel, have you recovered, did you get something better?
The company is actually a great one, they brought in pychologist to speak with us, bring in different recruiter, and other stuff, most importantly the payoff was reasonable that I can afford a Mac laptop of almost half-a-million
Luckily for me I got another reasonable job in less than 3 weeks of been retrenched
I always laugh when people complain there is no job in Nigeria, less than 5 month after leaving my previous company I have turned down almost 4 other offers some even paying than my current one
I so much saw the retrenchment coming that I once created a similar thread as this https://www.nairaland.com/5352267/why-how-loose-last-job

vincentjk: Back then in st Mary's bigard primary school uwani, I was so stubborn and lived a careless and "I no send" lifestyle.
Aboy(my best friend) and i were always selling fruits in our row and as back benchers the teachers never saw us. Our school had varieties of fruits and Aboy's family lived inside the school so he always got; mangoes, oranges, almond fruit, cashew, large kerosene mango etc...
Just like it's done in the market we assembled different fruits on our desk (4 fruits go for 5naira) during classes and our fellow pupils would pass a 5naira note from one person to another until it gets to us and the desired fruits would be passed to them as well without the teacher's consent
We did this since primary 2 to primary 4 that we became so popular in school that people from other classes come to buy from our back bench desk often, we didn't listen to teachings and at the end of the term my result was always 24/24 or 23/24 meaning aboy my friend had taken the 24th position
We were later caught in our primary4 3rd term and our headmaster concluded that cane and punishment couldn't solve my problem so they sent for my mum and after discussion with the teachers and my family, they decided to withdraw me from that school and enrol me to another primary school with higher competition... Within the first and second term, I had learn how to read and write and at the end of the 3rd, I came 8/19. Was so happy and that was how I changed for good. Today i lecture in class (university) when my lecturer isn't around
I've been searching for my friend aboy on Facebook since 2013 till date but can't find him please anyone that knows chijioke nebo popularly called aboy or nwokeocha due to his albinism should please quote me, he attended st Mary's bigard primary school and they lived inside the school at uwani enugu I so miss my childhood naughty best friend because I left after our primary 4 and had no time to tell him I'd be going to another state to continue my primary 5 Ouhhh!!!. This is one of my best reads. Lol |

NwaAmaikpe:

This is the problem with the absence of a functional consumer protection system in Nigeria. Everyone is at the mercy of everyone.
But I'd love to know,
Aside showing genuine empathy, do you honestly think GUO is/was under any obligation to ensure the release of their kidnapped passengers? Because I do not. I may be wrong but I am open to Lalas. ticlala and other elders putting me right.
They are a transport company for fvck's sake and not an Elite Marine squad. I doubt they even have an insurance policy on travellers or that any contractual agreement exists with passengers wherein they undertake to an unfailing delivery to destination.
The good thing here is that you got your relative back alive, but I'd say you spent too much energy on the transport company and it is sad that they treated you as petty scum and that is probably how they saw you considering you channeled none of such energy on the security agents and kidnappers in whose hands your relative's release solely lay in.
The wise ones here are your other relatives who saw the bigger picture and sought their salvation away from the tranpsort company.
The social media thing has given us a misguided spirit of aluta that solely hinges on blackmail.
Sit down and think again, Do you know that if it was only you that your relative had, he'd probably be dead now while you'd have only succeeded in a viral smear campaign.
Next time life is involved, please use your head.
While at it, grow some conscience too. To think you expect a transport company to dole out 1million as ransom for a passenger who probably paid less than 5k.
Ask yourself if you'd do the same if you owned GUO. How can I give this more than 1 like?. Best comment so far on this Matter. Spoke my mind, body and soul.lol |
