ChybuzzDD:OMG! I can bet my left ball that you are a doctor practising outside the country. I said so because i have never heard of that bolded word before and i have been to more than 15 hospitals since this problem started. I started researching about that word and it addresses my problem 80% I weak for all this nigerian doctors, they never mentioned that to me. It did not even take you time to correctly mentioned it without seen me. You are talented and may God bless you. Now is to look for a way forward. Hello nairaland members, i'm still asking if its possible to remove my auditory nerve in Nigeria, and how much it will cost me? |
kpakpakpa:Dominique |
since this problem started, i have spent more than enough, even men of God collected a huge share from me. The drugs i was taken initially costs me almost 10k every month. As i'm typing this, i'm owning people close to 200k and all the money went into this. I promise myself never to treat this problem again untill i was tortured and the level of my pains increased. All i need now is a one time solution to focus on, and i believe that should be to remove my all my hearing nerves to have rest. Can nigerian doctors be able to remove my auditory nerves? How much will it cost me? I need more answers fam |
ChybuzzDD:Thanks for the heads up sir. It seems you are well informed about such conditions, the options you supported are far beyond my reach. I think my only escape route is to remove a nerve that can silence everything in my head. I can't explain the noise level in my head right now cos one may not believe it. |
sisisioge:That is what i actually want. I don't have a problem with been deaf, but its the noise that is killing me slowly. I don't want to hear anything again till i die, if i'm asked to choose one from the two problems, i will choose the deafness to stay and the noise to go, atleast i mastered the art of reading lips and can communicate in sign language very well |
GboyegaD:One doctor mentioned something like that but i'm not sure there will be a device that can help me. Moreover, the cost is way beyond me. |
Kobojunkie:Its possible to remove it then, i don't mind the consequences. Thanks for this great info |
GboyegaD:Hearing aid is worst, i wore it once and the sound lasted for weeks in my ears. One specialist told me about a type of hearing aid that can produce a certain sound to mask the one in my ears but he mentioned more than a million naira. Is true like i said earlier that this happened in 2015 and honestly, i did not leave it to fate, i tried every way i'm capable and even borrowed some huge amount to treat this but its looking like there will be no solution. My only option is to stop hearing completely if there is a way because i don't have the financial chest to pursue this problem anylonger. |
Kobojunkie:I'm in Nigeria. There is also no hope of going out which makes me ask. Can one remove auditory nerve or something to stop hearing completely? |
Kobojunkie:Brother, i can't even attempt to kill myself or think towards that direction but my life is worthless, i'm frustrated and deep in pains to a point that i think death should be better. |
Kobojunkie:I will check and get back to you tomorrow. its been long and i forget the drugs. they use to write it on a receipt and gave my mother to buy within the hospital before the doctors will come and administer it to me. sorry |
Kobojunkie:I read all you quoted there and many more. Read my third post where i describe my problem, the symptoms i have are more than the normal tinnutus that i know or read about. And i can't tell which one they are treating because i don't know much about drugs. |
yomi007k:To the best of my knowledge, there has never been an improvement since this problem started, its rather getting worse. I would have long go for the surgery if not for cost involved. The specialist told me that it is done outside the country only. The side effects were much according to him but if you take away this noise in my ears and allow me live for just one year, i will be ok. I can't kill myself, never, but death is nothing compared to what is happening to me |
Kobojunkie:Its been long i stop taking drugs. It was difficult but i was managing till when i was tortured, the sound in my ears has skyrocket now. |
Kobojunkie:I can't tell how the hearing loss came in. Like i earlier said, i was having stomach pain(the doctors said it was typhoid) which became so severe that i stayed in a teaching hospital for months. It was when they wanted to discharge me that i noticed my left ear was not functional, i complained immediately but they said it was the effect of some drugs which they use because my condition was a life and death situation that compel them to use drugs, that i may be normal soon but all my ears stop processing sound after 3days when i left the hospital. I did not have any ears problem prior to that time |
Kobojunkie:Pls read my second and third post. I explain it there. The doctors said i have tinnitus. That it was as a result of some strong that were used in treating me when i was sick. |
yomi007k:The first one placed my on one drug called betahistine(i forget the correct spelling) for months. The other one in abj advice i should always engage in exercise and prescribe some simple drugs The third one told me to continue with the first drug and hope for the best. The other one wash my ears with an unknown solution, and gave drugs too. The last i visited suggested an operation, that i will need some test outside the country and a possible inplant in my ears which will cost millions. Lol me wey never see 200k cash for my life, that was when i gave up |
[quote author=Foodqueen post=122771077]Waoh!!!! Never heard of this before |
yomi007k:Yes. Not even one, i visit like 4 of them since the problem started |
anthonyuncle:A joke? i'm serious |
Seun nlfpmod mynd44 i have been searching for this kind of topic on nairaland but the few i saw did not have meaningful and many comments, mods should help move this to front page so that doctors in the house can suggest the way forward. i appeal to anyone reading this to tag a knowledgeable person for inputs too. If you know or hear about this of condition before, do well to drop a comment here too. It is well with us |
Now i happened to be in an unpleasant situation last twoweeks and some bad guys beat me up, i don't know the kind of evil spirit that entered them but they focused on slapping me on both ears. For some days now, i'm hearing heavy sounds in my ears like a trucks motor horn, gunshots, car break that is about to have accident etc Even alcohol can not make me sleep for 5hrs now before i will wake up. That is why i'm looking for a way to stop hearing completely, i'm going mad right now and i don't know what to do. The drugs i was supposed to be taken is not of my reach because it is very cost and you can't get it near me unless i send for it in abj or jos, better still lagos. I want to stop hearing completely. |
Its getting to 8years now since i don't know what is sleep unless i take alcohol or any substance to make me high. I can't afford to mix with people because any sound my ears receive will continue to play in my ears for days. And this sounds are never meaningful, if a person is talking loudly, my ears will be receiving it as a different sound like a car horn, a trumpet, bell ringing etc I will not forget how i visited traditional doctors in my village and beyond but as it is now, i don't think this has no cure like i read online |
I was suprise and confused, i rushed back home and told my mother about the weird development which we immediately went back to the teaching hospital, tests were carried out and i was given drugs with no assurance of hearing again. That was how i become a regular in the teaching hospital for close to a year with no improvement. I was later refered to abuja for some tests and was placed on one drug(something betahistine dyhydro) but all was in vain. My condition was rare;i will not hear any speech but can hear loud sounds, if i'm in a noisy place, the noise will be repeating in my head for days. If i went to church, the sound from drums will be in my head for days etc I tried visiting specialist too but all efforts did not yield any positive result. Then my mother start taking me to men of God, we prayed, fast and do everything possible but nothing changed. Due to the fact that i was not comfortable with any slight noise, i move to the village. I became a shadow of myself and life was/is difficult. |
Humble greetings fam! I will like to know if its possible to remove my auditory nerve or anything that can make me to stop hearing completely. I suffered a strange kind of hearing loss that comes with another condition called tinnitus It happened since 2015 when i was admitted in a teaching hospital(doctors told me that my problem was typhoid) and treated for months. When i was about to discharged, i noticed that one of my ears was not functional which i complained immediately to the docs there told me that my condition was critical and was consequently administered hard drugs which is clearly the cause of my partial deafness and was given an appointment in 2weeks time to follow up about the new ailment. I came back home using only one ear. After about 5days at home, i enter okada to the use an atm in town, upon reaching the bank, i joined the atm line to made my withdrawal, it was there that an old friend started talking to me that i discovered that both my ears were not functional. |

Constablepatr:Anything that should be treated as a major should have the backing of the Nigerian constitution. Presently, i did not see where blasphemy is a crime in our constitution. I have been waiting for cases like at the supreme court to be decided so that everyone can know his stance in this country. If the supreme court backs sharia laws, i think the christians and traditional worshipers will have to make laws and open their own courts to operate too |
DAENNINGA:The op is bigot period. The CJN has the power to influence any judgement at supreme court and beyond. Or did he think that to occupy that post is ceremonial? In truth, the cjn is the head of the judiciary just like the president is to the executive arm of the government. So can he say that the president don't have power to make decisions unless they are approved by FEC? |
