Hello guys Im feeling a bit skeptical abt me going for an interview(I dont have a solid date yet) but here is why, I just recieved my I20 and the COA is 45k dollars, now No funding was stated on my i20 but the school offered me funding only on the condition of when I resume in person. Also ny sponsor (my dad) is more than able to pay my tuition and living cost but seeing that lately VO are all abt fundings and all that. Im scared I might not be able to get my visa. Do you think he should pay my tuition of 30k dolls or less to show that we have the funds or he shouldnt pay at all(judging that some schools dont offer refunds ) . please opinions are needed |

Jahard: That makes sense, please share it you can. I think what matters most with these VOs is how well you can defense your case. This is one of the transcripts VISA APPROVED Practice your answers as if you are drinking water not as if you're chewing food. Don't sound ROBOTIC Tell them your STORY! Remember every single answer gives birth to the next question. Visa transcript School: HCC Location:Lagos 18/4/2023 Vo:How old are you? Me:25 Vo:why did it take you so long to return to school? Me: (I invite sadness to my face this time..coz I miss my mum) Just right after graduating from secondary school ....my Mum had cancer ..so I decided to stay back home and take care of her. Vo: where do you work? Me:mention my workplace and the year I started working. Vo: why an associate degree? Me: that's a great question, now because the US is completely different from my country's educational system, I felt starting small with an associate's will give me the needed experience to navigate a four-year university. Vo:That makes sense! Who will be the one sponsoring you? Me:Told them about my sponsor (There was nothing special here..coz I told them all I know about my people...DON'T BE EXTRA!) *We were both silent for a long while* Vo: what are you planning on specializing in? Me: Midwifery Vo: she smiles, you're good to go! Congratulations you're now a student in the US ... Me: my ear just block! |

folamorgan: If you were there, all these give contexts, this woman did not allow words to come out of my mouth. Once she asked a question and I'm about to give an answer, she shuts me immediately. She just fought with one elderly woman that was arguing with her about the fact that she has businesses to run in Nigeria, that why should she deny her, I guess the white woman was still emotional about that. Assuming she allowed words out of my mouth, I know what to say, I have practicalised the whole things, using different scenarios, watching several YouTube even consulted with more than twenty former visa officers on Argo. And on brother thing, she asked a direct question of who will take care of my companies when I left, as soon as I mentioned my brother, she shut me immediately. I wanted to give details. Even, the answers I gave I forced them out of my mouth when I understand what she might do, I wanted to see if she could hear them, probably she could change her mind. I knew I had to give context to my answers and even link where necessary, like when how many school did you choose, I can list the schools after giving her the answer and immediately talk about why I choose the school and how the study in that school will impact my companies. I knew that ad she asked for what I do after answering her I should link my answer to how the skills I acquire will be of benefits to my companies. All these I have mastered but these can only be useful when you have someone that's ready to listen or hear you out. In her case, she has lost interest in the whole entire process of interviewing people that day. You can see the anger in her face. She was just asking unrelated questions and giving blue paper. The only related questions she asked me were What do I do? Who is your sponsor? And towards the end she remembered that she had to ask me about the number of school I chose. As I understand based on over hundred transcripts that I printed out both on this site and other sites, she was suppose to ask for intent questions, home ties questions and sponsor question (she did but did not care to listen). She avoided the intent and home ties questions and every attempts by me to maneuver my answers to those directions were thwarted by her instantly. Listening was no longer her thing for that day again sometimes your ds160 might be the isnh |

Jahard: she can say she’s in school but wants to leave because of the inconsistencies caused by the frequent ASUU strikes. The VOs don’t like educational gaps, if she says she has been working with her mum for 8 years I don’t think they’d believe she’s a bonafide student. Another thing, I noticed the VOs rarely approve people in their 20s going for an undergraduate degree. But I stand to be corrected. they do, I know of a lady we dey same whatsapp undergrad group she got approved last year she was 28years old all she had to do was bring her story to life and fill the gap years that she had and boom approved. Age matters but at same time they know sometimes life dont go as planned. i will look for her transcript and share here. |

PeachtreeReside: Kindly advise.
An Aunt of mine got some folks in the US who want to pay for her daughter's tuition .
The daughter is 22yrs and a part 2 Student in Nigeria.
She was asked to say she is not in school u yet just helping her mum at her business.
I told her that it might make her look less worthy a candidate to come and study in the US.
I told her to tell the daughter to say she is in school but would want to study abroad in order to graduate earlier than her peers.
Kindly advise please.
Thank you Honest opinion , it all depends on when she finished high school. If she says she finished in 2015 for instance she has to be able to defend what she has been doing since she finished highschool which might make it complicated bcause thats 8 years of helping helping her mum in her business and then further raises the question why do you wanna go for a degree now, but on the other hand, If she is in school already then its easily justified that strikes and what not has been a major factor for her to consider studying abroad, even better if shes transferring from her current uni to the one abroad. just my thoughts. Has she gotten admitted? When did she finish highschool? |
