Dont be misled. These people are not stupid. They know either at the background stage or on the job. They just chose to let it slide. Try that at a company that cares, you will be shown the door.

If you have a good reference that knows the job you are good to go.. You got to know your onion before you get to the job or else you will be fired.. My current job I had a 5 years experience on my resume they expected more from me which I didn't have but thank God for my mentor who I always called whenever I got stuck on d job. But now I am well grounded. .

Most report Dont include dates only criminal record. I once did a background check on a job of 5 years experience and I was barely two years.

I talked to my uncle about this and he said that cybersecurity is where the money is at especially at the government level. But the problem is the background clearance. If your background or family's background is amiss, it is a no go. Then on the medical side is Epic Hyperspace.

Nursing isn't bad especially for new immigrants and it could afford you a decent life here. 30 bucks per hours as a RN is t bad for someone with a spouse who also works. You just got to know how you spend.
IT has been taken over by East Asians and it would be kinda difficult for someone with an African accent to get a pretty decent job.

People just go on the internet and start misleading others with gross exaggeration. One funny thing I have seen on NL is how everyone likes to use the line "one of my friends does this or that.." It's always some unverifiable friends doing this and that. Highest paid IT gurus are in the Bay Area working for companies like Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. Despite how extremely difficult it is to get jobs in these fields, no one makes anywhere near $700K a year. In fact, it is extremely difficult to get into these companies if you are not American and did not attend any of the Ivy Leagues or other non-Ivy Leagues like MIT, Caltech, or Stanford. Mark Zuckerberg was recently slammed for hiring only of 2% of the entire employees at Facebook as balcks. Now, someone somewhere in Nigeria is reading this thread thinking you can just venture into IT and start earning six figures when you graduate. They say Nursing is overpopulated; is IT not more overpopulated than Nursing? Count the number of Indians and Chinese venturing into IT. How many of them get jobs at Goldman Sachs or Yahoo? How about the very many IT graduates working in banks or schools? Even as a surgeon, you will need to work very many hours to make anywhere close to $700K. And people don't even mention the amount of taxes (may be as high as 40%) that will be taken out.

The medical field pays the highest, and you should not imagine earning six figures immediately you graduate in IT, unless you get an offer from companies such as the ones I mentioned above. People should be wary about all these faceless forums information.

This is why i said if anyone on this platform is in atlanta he should hit me up, we are having a success party next week saturday, about 4 of his student just got their first jobs ( All six figures).. One of them got two jobs at once about $320k his 8th and 9th interview, surely i am next to ply that route.. Is it only Google and facebook that is the only company that pays good in the whole 50 states?? Remove that mentality from your head.. I sleep and eat ziprecruiter.com. dice.com, careerbuilder.com, monster.com none of those sites will actually give u a definite pay, they always base pay on estimates..

What kind of job are you doing ? It's not impossible to make six figures , like I said, there are different factors that affect pay. You don't have to be here for 20 years to make six figures but don't expect to make that fresh out the boat.

I made six figures fresh out the boat, it all boils down to how you package yourself and the years of experience you put on your resume, if you can defend it 6 figures is not far fetched.. I am also in IT..

Lol Nigerians, they like to over exaggerate, I'm not saying $19 is the norm but pay can be low as that. As for those your friends, they may be at the top scale of their field and live in high cost of living if that income is actually true.. The average american family of four make about $55,000 per hour. Six figure income salary is not the norm for majority of nurses in the US but nurses in the California expect to make that much because they cost of living is high. All I'm saying that Nigerians need to face the reality and stop spreading lies about this country. I been here for over a decade , so I know the good and the bad. Do you live in the country or back home? The reason I ask is because it very easy for people here deceive people back home.

Its not about being in a place for decade its about the right information you have, i have only been here for 2 yesr plus and i make 6 figures, why? because i met a man here on nairaland but based in US who trained me up and i got to where i am today.. forget about how many years you have been here bro.. its all about information..

Check out senior splunk Architect and check their salaries, he is currently working three jobs from the convenience of his home, infact he told me he wants to hit $1 million by taking another job.. For your information our very own Nigerian Musician ELDEE the don is a splunk architect here in atlanta making serious money, i am plying that route as we speak.. Person wen never go another person farm go think say na hin own big pass..

Nigerians in the US like to encourage people coming into the country to go for nursing because they feel like it's an easy field to get into and you will make alot of money from it . I even read a post on this forum that stated that nurses make no less than $30 per hour in the US which is not true. Some registered nurses can make low as $19 per hour so all I'm advising is that you look at different fields.

Not True bro, an RN Cant be making $19 an hour in this world and the next world to come... So far so good with what i have seen IT is the most lucrative field in the US right now.. six figures is guaranteed, depending on what aspect of IT.. I know of two of my friends who rakes in more than $700k a year, some are making $300k..The Nursing field is over populated.

Let me give u a basic illustration, Mr A went to study IT (cyber security)in school which will take him 4 years to complete, with hefty student loan which he will repay.. Mr B does research on cyber security, takes the certification,passes it roll out his resume, once he can defend his resume he gets the job. Mr B has successfully Eliminated 4 years of schooling and a hefty student loans, before Mr A graduates MR B has already had 4 years of experience in the field.. Let me be very real with you bro, to me personally going to school in America is not out right important considering other factors like Age.. I once worked as a CNA , did all sort of warehouse job until someone i met took me by d hands and showed me the way.. School is good but if you have reached a certain age like in your thirties there is always a back door which I followed though not easy but rewarding.
