I still have not heard that anything has changed at Transcorp, but the shares continue to push up, any clues as to who is warehousing these shares/ any gists/rumours?

Maybe UBA is finally pushing its weight around.Shebi the word is they invested deeply into Transcorp IPO?

Perhaps its the non-performance of Transcorp that has hitherto affected the inertia of UBA's price,considering its(UBA) great fundamentals,neverminding the so-called high nominal price.

its expected that 1.5 Bil could have gotten poly products some reasonable profits, but since they made only a paltry 13 mil, we should have cause to suspect something else.

Poly Products Nigeria Plc.

Poly products Nigeria plc released its full year results for the period ended 31st March 2007. In the results released turn over for the period increased by 13.3 percent from N1.5 billion in 2006 to N1.7 billion in 2007.
Profit before tax moved northwards by 122.6 percent from N12.4 million in 2006 to N27.6 million in 2007.
After tax profit for the period under review increased significantly by 1857.1 percent from N700.0 thousand in 2006 to N13.7 million in 2007

Seriously if you give me 1.5 billion naira I will declare more than 27.6 million as profit.[b]Even if you put that money in a fixed deposit account for one year at interest of 5 percent for goodness sake that is 75 million naira.Will it not be better for the owners of poly Products to invest in stocks on the floor?Because business is about making profit.

This is the typical Nigeria Magu Magu for you.I seriously suspect most companies under declare their results.Haba, 27million naira profit with a turn over of 1.5 billion shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
Perhaps it simply was a bad year and not mago mago.

What if a company declares a loss and not profit.It happens,doesn't it.

Their meagre profit should rather be investigated by looking at the accounts,e.t.c.-things that the financial analysts best no how to do. tongue

Hi.Could you please explain how selling GDR would DILUTE already existing shares.You mentioned this in the example of Diamond bank

I have Diamond with roughly 8 billion plus outstanding shares before the GDR offer,which I felt was pretty advantageous allowing for current EPS of,I think,N1.10.

How then does GDR sales affect?Does the sale of GDR translate to conversion to new shares?

@Octopus

IBTC is well tested in the business of investment funds.

It used to be a minimum N50,000 to invest with.

They deliver 40-something% annually I believe,or more,depending on their success at financial year-end.

Haven said this,you need to speek with them one-on-one yourself.

Cheers.

@Pumping777.

Thanks for your opinion.What's annoying in the matter is that one can never be sure how binding such FGN directives are,with the level of incompitence they exhibit time and again.

I think I should look more at growth investing;has never fitted my lazy approach to investing,though.I get apprehensive with small,small companies,though with good fundamentals(as I learn so here),but yet unproven growth.And when they begin to prove themselves. . . . .Well,you know the rest. . . you are left with the crowd,arguing with agbero at the ticket office huh huh huh tongue.

I guess confidence in these small,small companies will come if I learn to do this fundamental research thingie.Abi  sad  sad  sad. . .?

@Pumping 777

I need your Guru opinion,my man.I see you are online.

Do you consider that the governments directive that all banks unify FY-ending for December 2008,will undermine CICO with ZENITH for example?
Zenith normally would end FY in June with its usual promise of good dividend,hence price surge as investors take early position;hence good for CICO.

But now,they may look towards December  sad sad sad.

Same for UBA,First bank and the like.

What do you think,Pumping. . . . ?

@ALL

My comments are off the cuff without investigative research,more from memory(I confess I'm one lazy investor shocked shocked shocked).
I doubt the rumour(I'm just hearing it now on this thread) that Afribank will give bonus,based on my perception of the bank being over-valued(even at N26) based on its last Q result.

In this day and age that banks are striving to increase EPS by keeping outstanding shares as minimum as possible(some contemplating going down the intricate road of share reconstruction),I don't see the rationale of a bonus that would further dilute their struggling EPS.

This is entirely my own unresearched oppinion undecided undecided undecided.

Breaking news!

The transcorp wahala I mentioned in an earlier posting is public.
Odimegwu has resigned from the board and Ja'afaru due to resign as well as the company secretary.

Don't know if this has anything do do with the present daily maximum gain of transcorp on the NSE.
Hope it does another AP during their fight for supremacy and flies beyond expectation and other rationale.

Will try to get the full gist from my contact and get back.

Happy hunting.

Samstone4 cool cool cool
So @Samstone,why don't you think this might rather spell a nose-dive for Transcorp's price on the floor?

Perhaps the full report will clarify,though.

Placed a buy order 3 days back,but no show. . . Waiting to possibly cancel order which didn't have an expirey date specified shocked

I say Obama's detractors,as represented by the 3rd audition-panelist in the cartoon,are out-numbered(2 to 1,if you like).

They say Obama doesn't go into specifics in his campaigns.

I say that they who have done their economic specifics all these years,are responsible for the near-depression of the US economy today.

Back to the cartoon.Yeah,Obama hasn't sung yet,but the discerning two panelists are already wowed by the props he has brought with him on stage for this great audition.By the newness that is anticipated in the great act to come.

They realise that,with the new kind of props he mounts on stage for his anticipated performance,he'll surely change the hitherto status quo
