Cc: AAUASU All campus media groups Fresh students. "True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new". - Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Who says the AAUA Students Union under the leadership of Optimum have not tried its best to nullify the hike in our school fees? When Optimum was elected as the president of the Union last year, to be sincere, i did not expect anything new from him but i've been proven wrong! I never knew he would rise up to expectations as he has done so far. In fact, the present set of Students Union executives in AAUA might go ahead to be regarded as the best we have ever had. I believe some students [especially freshers] should stop insulting the union. On the new proposals of the governor, what he (the governor) has proposed can never be regarded as a victory for us because there would still be over 200% hike in the fees. Meanwhile, the government seem to exclude our freshers as far as the new fees are concerned. These guys have paid 51,000 as acceptance fees, they are never going to sleep on the roads or market canters of Akungba so they will still pay for house rents of at least 25,000. In addition, they will pay departmental and faculty levies [which are always high for fresh students], X-Ray and Lab Test at the health center. It would be inhumane if these people still pay between 120,000 and 150,000 since returning and final year students are to pay 100,000 and 70,000 respectively as school fees. In the same vein, the AAUA Students Union will amount to nothing in the faces of these guys and there is an important need to avoid that. I simply do not want us to go back to the streets in protests, if we do that, the media attention we would be given will be minimal compared to the inital one and we may loose sympathy from some meaningful set of people. Therefore, i want to use this time out to urge the Students Union under the leadership of Optimum to go back to the negotiation table and make sure no AAUITE, be they freshers or staylites pay up to 100,000 as school fees. In partial relation to the above, no AAUITE should see the battle as concluded if we pay less than 100,000. If any of the current aspirants know they cannot stand for students just like Optimum and co. have done, it is the best to step down now! Aketi is a Nigerian politician, believe me he is going to contest for re-election in 2020, we can gain from that motive and it begins with consultations that should be initiated by the incoming executives. Our own AAUA is the hope of the common man and that is what we have to keep fighting for! Let us be ready for the politicking and permutations of the next guber election in Ondo state. I still have the last thing i wrote about this struggle in mind: "I will advise all AAUA students to accept Aketi's new [but less wicked] proposal on one condition: that we are going to strike out all dubious and unwarranted fees. For example, i stopped offering GST courses since my 200L days but they are still compelling me to pay for them, i don't need AAUA's health insurance because NHIS is even a failure, it is a smart way of attempting to commit grand larceny against me, No one should be made to pay for it! what's the particular difference between e-facility and ICT levy? I can only pay for e-facility learning because i use the e-library atimes (an e-library that can be unavailable for more than two months). Why should i pay for entrepreneurship again since i stopped offering ENT course since 200L first semester? Does that mean the school or state government wants to do business with my money? In my department, i will pay 30,000 for field trip before the end of first semester, why must it be included in the list of my school fees again? As long as we are still going to pay levies to our various faculty associations, there's no sensible reason to include it in our invoices anymore! What's that tangible reason why we should pay for result processing? Especially fresh students that will have nothing on AVERS until second semester". With this, we can beat the figures down to a meaningful extent. Kolade Chris, 400L AEB student. |
Lala please push this to the main page, it can save 15,000+ AAUA students from the shackle of 500% school fees increment |

*THIS IS THE HAND WRITING OF BOUBOW IKA* *An Article against the assertion of Ondo State Government that NOTHING IS TOO COSTLY TO BE INVESTED INTO OUR FUTURE* No protocol was initiated before the assertion was made, so pardon me as I won't be standing on any existing protocol. Education, which was brought into existence as a right, has now been turned to a choice, no thanks to the present Ondo State Government, under the leadership of a man from my hometown. According to BOUBOW (2018), Every man remains a good man unless acted upon by an external force called "Politics", if not so, no one will suddenly come up with the assertion that Nothing is too costly to be invested into our Future. I vehemently stand against this due to the following reasons. 1. Minimum wage of the Country As at 2018, the minimum wage in Nigeria is N 18,000. Mathematically,it means N600 per day. With this amount, it'll be very difficult for an average Nigerian to feed and educate his or her ward(s). For this reason, it'll be very Satanic and anti-humanic in nature to expect someone who earns around this minimum wage to drop all his or her earnings (that is even if all will be enough) on his/her ward(s). Or how would someone who earns 50k monthly be able to pay AAUA 51K Acceptance fee, 150k School fee and at least 30k annual house rent? 2. Statistics of Job opportunities that have been created so far in the state I stand to be corrected, this is the worst and most clueless state government I've ever experienced in Ondo State. After a year in office, there is still no single rumor or aroma of employment in the state, save the employments of SA, SSA, PA and "personally named offices". So after investing so heavily in our future, of what benefit is the investment? where is the Job you've created? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED SO FAR? Dr. Olusegun Mimiko offered the best graduating students automatic employment during AAUA 2015 CONVOCATION. The man from my hometown came to 2017 edition, not for something beneficial to the students, but to announce increment in the tuition fee. I thought there was a saying that if you can't build, at least don't Destroy. Even MMM was profitable at first, this policy of our dear state government is illegal, illicit and it is a broad day scam. 3. Constituents of the State Work Force Ondo State work force is majorly centered on workers from Medical Centres, Schools, Secretariats, and Ministries. Saying nothing is too costly to be invested into our Future is just like using Abu's money to entertain Abu. In other words, it means the government will pay you salary and also expect you to bring all your earnings back to them. It's as if they don't even want us to achieve anything in life. I'm sure they'll be mad to see us build our own houses, they're absolutely against the purchase of Automobiles. 4. State Government is different from Private Sector. My school fee back then in secondary school was just N1, 950. Meanwhile, I was given a locker and also, the government paid for my Senior School Certificate Examinations. As if I was stabbed with a dagger, I began to bleed when I heard that this current state government was too broke to continue to pay for our younger ones SSCE. And when they were challenged, they began to compare how much is being paid in private schools to Government owned schools. They forgot that private schools were formed as a result of the nonchalant attitude of the government towards funding government owned schools. 5. Awolowo's Legacy Awolowo will be best remembered for his Free Education policy. More also, the man from my Hometown will be best remembered for destroying and giving a befitting burial for Awolowo's legacy. The man from my Hometown claimed that he is following Awolowo's legacy, it'll be bad to say that an elderly man is lying, but permit me to say that "uro we pa". If this was Awolowo's legacy, you wouldn't have been able to attain this height today. Conclusion. If Senators and commissioners could afford the school fees of BABCOCK, BOWEN and ABUAD, what about my mum that is selling Ata Rodo in Oja Oba? What of the poor farmers who were all shouting AKETI because they believed in the Man with white beards? With the 5 points stated above, I can unequivocally condemn the assertion that nothing is too costly to be invested into our Future. I'll beseech the Governor of Ondo State to think anew and act anew, that was what he told us, but it seems he needs it badly, even more than us. Ondo State is a place of pride, the legacies of Ajasin, Adefarati, Agagu and Mimiko must not be destroyed. Temitope O. Eyinla (BOUBOW) Mathematical Sciences, Part IV Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko 08035115717 Writing from Okedogbon Street, Owo. Saturday, 14th of April, 2018 around 21:15pm. |

Nice of the Police to address the mayhem. It was about time the police addressed their truancy. I trust those Mopol guys on Ukpenu road, they don't have a single joy. Life is simple. If you have problems with the school fees, then drop out. You're the silliest of your kind. In fact, your idiocy and stupidity are of superior quality. Omo nna |

As long as she loves you, ready to stay and she's committed to the relationship, i'll advise you to marry her. You probably cannot get a better lady. There are lots of them in town that are very educated and clean outside but are dirty inside because that place down below don reach elastic limit. Even, you can contribute to her education life and send her to do a PT. |

Who are the guys admining NAIRALAND FORUM? I was about to add comments to an Islamic post and then a pop-up with the title "Are you a Muslim" appeared with the following: "I believe that there is no god/God but Allah." "I believe that Muhammad is God's Holy Prophet." "I believe that Islam is the Only True Religion." "lā ʾilāha ʾillā-llāh, muhammadun rasūlu-llāh." Under the above were two buttons that red: "Yes, I'm Muslim and believe all of the above" and "No" . Allah translates to "God" so i believe in the first; i don't care about the second because i believe in Jesus Christ who is higher in the hierarchy of the prophets than Mohammed the founder of Islam though i don't see myself as a standard Christian; i strongly disagree with the third and i don't even know nor care to know what the fourth translates to. I simply clicked on "No" to be honest. To my suprise, no comment box appeared; i couldn't believe what i was suspecting so i tried to comment on another Islamic post and to another suprise experienced, i couldn't though i can comment on any other post. Why does it have to be like that? I see this as gross intolerance becaause you don't have to go through all those drills before you'll be able to comment on a Christianic post. Intolerance and Islam/Muslims are just too close but i will always respect Yoruba Muslims and believe all other Muslims should learn from them. |
Weldone Fayose. Buhari is the president of Nigeria but you're my own president as far as Ekiti is concerned. |

I would love to hear Dele's side of the story. |
A source close to the Government house revealed earlier today that Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose ordered his Media Aid out of his office. Fayose asked his S.A on Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka to sign an undertaken letter because he as lost trust in him and no longer dependable. It was gathered that Lere Olayinka was confused and he refused to sign the undertaken letter which again tempted fayose to squeezed the letter and sent Lere out of the vicinity. According to reports, Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti State Governor needs his media associate, Mr. Lere Olayinka to attach signature on the letter before he can gets his salaries. The individual aide to Fayose, Mr Aniwofose revealed the issue to some PDP senior statesmen in Ekiti in an indoor meeting. He portrayed the issues as uncleared issue which can cause antipathy, mayhem, rancor and pandemonium within the political party. He said that Fayose choice was because of the telephone call Lere got from segun oni. He said the case is so genuine and it require critical consideration from those senior statesmen he met with. He said the enduring arrangement that can proffer panacea to the animosity is settlement from the PDP older folks. |
