BusinessHow To Start Gemstone Mining In Nigeria With Only 400k by kudosamass(op): 10:56am On Aug 22, 2018
HOW TO START GEMSTONE MINING IN NIGERIA WITH N400K:
Gemstone Mining in Nigeria is easy to enter with the right information. Contrary to public perception, you do not need millions of Naira to venture into the Untapped Multi Billion Dollar Gemstone Deposits in Nigeria. The information bellow is designed for new entrants who want to start on a small scale. If you are already in the Gem Mining sector, it will enhance your understanding.

1. You are going to operate as a small scale miner. That is, you are going to employ between five to 15 miners to do the work for you. You learn along the line. You can either operate along the Keffi axis or Ibadan axis depending on where you stay in Nigeria. Keffi axis covers the whole North Central and parts of Bauchi (where you have the largest gem deposits in Nigeria) Ibadan axis covers the whole of South West states of Oyo, Osun and parts of Ogun and Kogi. The best place to start in South West is Ibadan. But Keffi is the main octopus. And this article is actually for those who wish to mine around Keffi where the figures given have been tested and confirmed.

2. Gemstone mining in Nigeria is easy to enter if you are shown the right way because you do not need your own Mining License or pay workers to start. Many individuals & companies have Mining Licenses, but do not carry out the mining operations. What we do is to locate those who have such Licenses and Sites, and partner with them. We take charge of the Site, hire miners (laborers), and sponsor the work. When we get the gems, it is shared according to pre agreed percentages. It is shared between the License Holder and the Financier into 50% and 50% respectively. The License Holder settles the community (landowners) from his own share based on their pre operation agreement. The Financier settles his miners from his own share based on agreed percentage. The general practice is that the laborers sell their own share to the financier based on 'bush price'. It is considered a loss for a Financier to allow minerals from his site to be sold to an outsider except by him or herself.

3. You need some licenses to mine in Nigeria, but you don't need all these for now since you are partnering with a license holder. You may only register a company which is not costly.
But anyone with the financial muscle can acquire his or her own Site and all the Mining Licenses and start as a large scale miner. I facilitate the acquisition of all the licenses mentioned above from Company registration to finding a Site and even hiring of seasoned miners.

4. Now, you are good to go! Small scale Gemstone mining is generally done using manual labor. To start, you must buy tools for you boys ( shovel, digger, hammer, Chisel, Cutlass, hand gloves etc) You must buy cooking utensils, provide accommodation and food stuff. Accommodation does not cost much because of the location. Most of the time, it is usually free because the villagers are always eager to identify with the miners knowing fully well that there is enough bread along the way.

5. The sites at Keffi are alluvial deposits. You can get gemstones within the first 1-2 months of work. In rear occasions, it may be longer.

6. You need to hire a Site manager who is a seasoned miner to coordinate activities for you. Such manger is also paid when you get minerals. One thing I found fascinating in the Gemstone Mining in the Keffi axis is that everybody (landowners, Miners, Managers etc) understands the game: we all get dividends when we get product! And in that case, everyone is motivated to work harder by self interest! If you are a busy type who cannot stay in the site, you must visit your boys once in a while. Once every week or two weeks is ok. And when going, you must bring something for the boys. Some smoke, some drink! That's the reality and that's mining for you! So, keep your religious and medical views to yourself if you want to hire good miners.

7. All in all, what you need to commence gemstone mining at Keffi is as follow:
i. N100k: payment to obtain a pit or two
ii. N150k: Hiring of miners, house rent, buying of tools, cooking materials & foods for your boys.
iii. N100k: operation money to be kept for foods etc
iv. N50k: Consultation Fee

I welcome your comments and questions.

Government is hypocritical about illegal mining in Nigeria. What do you want the people to survive on when you refused to provide the enabling environment for the private sector to flourish so that they can be gainfully emoyed? Governments do not complain, rather governments act. Some of us in the solid minerals sector who understand who it works know that Nigerian Government lacks the capacity to stop illegal mining. Where are they going to start? Abeg make I hear word jooo!

$40b is nothing compared to what is going out of the Country daily without due process. I am involved in the solid minerals sector, especially the gemstone sub sector. I know what is happening there and I weep for the Country.

One of the reasons is because many Nigerians are not aware that it is very easy to obtain Export License. Some foreigners are economic saboteurs and Government agencies responsible to checkmate that have all gone for holidays. However, the real culprit is the Nigerian Customs. They don't do their jobs at the boarders. They are only good at terrorizing people inside the Country. Op weldone. Wow is that easy. How long does it take to get the whole things processed and certificate issued. What next after the certificate is issued.
It takes between 24 hours to 72 hours. What happens next depends on what you want to export, but this is the first requirement for all exports from Nigeria. If it is Solid Minerals, you still need to go to Ministry of Mines for other documentations. If it is Agro Products, you still need some other documents. There are also some products that needs NAFDAC Certificate. So, it all depends on what you are exporting.

OBTAINING CERTIFICATE OF MINERAL BUYING CENTER
There is a lot of misconceptions about how to obtain licenses and permits to operate in the Solid Mineral Sector; however, these licenses and permits are very easy to obtain if you have the right information.

To start the business of buying and selling of any type of mineral in Nigeria, you need a License known as Certificate of Mineral Buying Center. The requirements and procedures to obtain this very important permit are discussed below.

Certificate for a Mineral Buying Center is issued by the Department of Artisanal And Small-Scale Mining, Ministry of Mines And Steel Development, Abuja. You can apply by yourself or have an agent process the document for you.

MINERAL BUYING CENTER:
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Certificate of Incorporation
2. Articles & Memorandum of Association
3. CAC Forms CO2 & CO7
4. Evidence of Office Address (you can even use you home address)
5. Evidence of Technical Competence (don't worry, your Agent will provide this)
6. Evidence of payment of prescribed fees

The Certificate will be issued to you within two weeks of application or thereabout. The general practice is that agents are paid to process the License; however, you can do it by yourself if you have the time for the follow ups. With this document, you can start the buying and selling of any type of mineral you wish to trade on in the Country. See my signature to contact me for enquiries or for assistance.
BusinessJoin The Solid Mineral Millionaires & Billionaires Traders In Nigeria by kudosamass(op):
Nigeria is blessed with different types of minerals such as gold, silver, lead, tantalite, tin, columbite, mica, kaolin, coal, zinc and glass. Others include tourmaline, aquamarine, zircon, topaz, sapphire, amethyst, ruby, emerald etc. All these minerals are available in large quantities in the Country. The solid mineral sectore can generat more money than the oil sect. However, many Nigerians do not know how to get involved in this highly lucrative industry.

One of the greatest challenges of doing business in Nigeria, especially in the mineral sector is lack of access to information. The non availability of information has lead to a situation whereby only the Chinese, Indians and few others are exploiting the huge mineral resources in the Country; making billions from the sector, while Nigerian citizens are moving from pillar to post.

These minerals are bought for peanuts here, but sold in dollars. Many Nigerians with the financial resources to venture into the buying and selling of minerals do not know how to obtain the licenses and permits required to start the business, even though these licenses and permits are very easy to obtain if you have the right information.

I hereby present to you the requirements and procedures to obtain License to set up Mineral Buying Center in Nigeria. The Certificate for a Mineral Buying Center is issued by the Department of Artisanal And Small-Scale Mining, Ministry of Mines And Steel Development.

LICENSE FOR MINERAL BUYING CENTER:
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Certificate of Incorporation
2. Articles & Memorandum of Association
3. CAC Forms CO2 & CO7
4. Evidence of Office Address (you can even use you home address)
5. Evidence of Technical Competence (don't worry, your Agent will provide this)
6. Evidence of payment of prescribed fees

The Certificate will be issued to you within two weeks of application. The general practice is that agents are paid to process the License; however, you can do it by yourself if you have the time for the follow up. With this document, you can start the buying and selling of your minerals.
