The bible can help Victims of Domestic Abuse This problem often gets worse when people are confined to their homes. Find out: https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/domestic-abuse/ |
Chances are, the first number you wrote down is lower than the second. Or maybe not! You might be among the many youths who are wisely putting off dating until they’re old enough to know themselves better. Another reason why waiting is wise is why the Bible uses the phrase “the bloom of youth” to describe the period of life when sexual feelings and romantic emotions first become strong. What you should know is copying others just to fit in can backfire. Because people can often see through the disguise. learned that it’s best just to be yourself, because people can tell when you’re faking. BETTER APPROACH: Rethink your priorities. The Bible says: “Make sure of the more important things.” (Philippians 1:10) So ask yourself, ‘What’s more important—to fit in with people whose values are different from mine, or to stay true to who I am. Cases of babies abandoned on the streets are on the increase. Of course, some young mother may regret her decision later. Yet she goes ahead, even though it may cost her child its life. You may wonder, How can a mother even think of abandoning her baby to an uncertain future? The Bible uses such a sad state of affairs as a metaphor to provide a strong contrast to our Creator’s feeling toward those of his own: “Can a wife forget her suckling so that she should not pity the son of her belly? Even these women can forget, yet I myself shall not forget you.”—Isaiah 49:15. Really, more than any human mother, God has deep love for us and shows sensitivity to our needs. Whether you are a young person or an adult, whatever problem you may face, you are not alone. Your Creator wants to help you and is interested in your welfare. In the words of the psalmist, “in case my own father and my own mother did leave me, even Jehovah himself would take me up.”—Psalm 27:10. https://www.jw.org/finder?srcid=jwlshare&wtlocale=E&prefer=lang&docid=1102015153 |
. Jesus and John the Baptizer experienced such a challenge. (Read Matthew 11:18, 19.) How did Jesus deal with false information? He did not spend all his time and energy defending himself. Instead he encouraged people to look at the facts—what he did and what he taught. As Jesus said, “wisdom is vindicated by its works.”—Matt. 11:19. There is a valuable lesson here that we do well to learn. At times, people may say unfair or critical things about us. We may long for justice and wish that we could do something to undo the damage to our reputation. Yet, there is something we can do. If someone spreads a lie about us, we can live in such a way that no one will believe that lie. Indeed, as Jesus’ example shows, our personal record of upright Christian conduct can wipe out half-truths and false accusations. You can also learn from the way Mephibosheth coped with slander, and disappointment. https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/w20020215/They-Coped-With-Thorns-in-Their-Flesh/ |
These appalling cycles of hatred seem to be increasing. Blood feuds are erupting between tribes, races, and ethnic or religious groups. Can hatred ever be stamped out? To answer that, we need to understand the causes of hatred, since we were not born to hate. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1995440 Check my signature for my number |
CHILDHOOD is a happy time for most youngsters. It is a time in life when they are usually free from responsibility and worry. They are usually cheerful, brimming with energy and curiosity. But there generalizations end. For with each child the time when he is happiest and the reason for his happiness are as varied as are his circumstances. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/101974526 |

When Locusts Fly Locusts cannot fly when their bodies are cold. Hence, when the temperature drops in the evening, they commonly take shelter in hedges or in the crevices of walls. The muscles of these insects remain stiff until they are warmed by the sun. Not until locusts have a body temperature of about 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21° C.) are they able to fly. These facts about locusts aid in understanding Nahum 3:17, which reads: “Your guardsmen are like the locust, and your recruiting officers like the locust swarm. They are camping in the stone pens in a cold day. The sun itself has but to shine forth, and away they certainly flee; and their place is really unknown where they are.” Like locusts, the guardsmen and recruiting officers of Nineveh would disappear on account of the heat of the siege. Their disappearance would be just as sudden as the departure of a locust swarm warmed by the sun’s rays |
GOOD NEWS: No government has ever succeeded in eliminating violence, disease, or death. But there is good news. Shortly, God will replace all human governments with his own government. Its subjects will enjoy peace and good health.—Read Isaiah 25:8; 33:24; Daniel 2:44. |
