E don tire me o. I get an average of 4-5 of such email weekly. My question is that why are some Nigerians such dubious to the core. These guys are ruining this good thing here called Nairaland. I have registered in a lot of other sites and don't get quite as much as the amount of scam email (if i get any) than i get logging on to Nairaland. Always needing help to move millions of $$$$ cos someone was after them or somebody died with millions in their account.  I hope we shouldn't complain when the oyibos deal with us everywhere we go.  |

JamesChi:The red highlights in the CARFAX report shows that the car was involved in an accident. However, it looks that the vehicles was fixed and kept by the owner. Since its a side impact accident, i am not sure if the vehicle is equipped with a side airbag or not. You need to verify that and inspect it that it was properly replaced in case it had deployed. The most concern that you may need to worry about in a side impact is that if the impact is severe enough, it might cause the structure of the car to mis-align and result in something called "dogtrakking" which is the inability of the front sets of tires to be properly in tadem with the rear sets of tires. Driving issues can result cos you wont be able to get good alignment done and your tires will wear out prematurely. Also, before you start the car, just turn on the ignition and make sure that all of the dash lights comes on (especially the airbag and check engine light) Some people do disconnect them to cover other serious issues or shoddy body work. i will have to defer to Siena on this issue here cos he is the expert on the Audi/VW stuff. My advise is that "Look before you leap". All cars require COMPETENT mechanic especially the VW/Audi brands. I will suggest that you look for a very good one that has references and you can trust before you buy the car otherwise you might as well set the money on fire. At least you won't have sleepless nights over one problem becoming 3 cos of bad mechanics. As for me, i don't know any one i can trust in Naija now as far as VW/Audi goes to take care of it COMPETENTLY. And that is good enough for me to avoid them for now. May be that will change later. Or better still your case is different. |
