Somorin#1: Not true.
I give you my opinion and then back it up with professional opinion from the web.
Are you able to follow and differentiate between the quotes and my own ascertations?
It is clear that we won't agree on this so I'll let it go but you should take your advice and do indeed try to understand what insulation is used for. its quite understanding that you agreed we wont agree. would you insulate a 200 unit housing in nigeria? do we actually need it ? thats the big question, the main point of arguement. anyway i rest my case. |
Properties › Re: Alternative Building Technology And Its Application To Nigerian Architecture by kunlekunle: 7:00am On Aug 04, 2013 |
Somorin#1: I disagree. Insulation is also used to keep temperature cold on the inside. Think about your fridge, does it have insulation?
It amazes me that folks think Nigerian temperature and weather is vastly different from some parts of the US.
When a structure is properly insulated then you'll need less energy to maintain a set temperature.
"Thermal Insulation[edit source | editbeta]
Thermal insulation in buildings is an important factor to achieving thermal comfort for its occupants. Insulation reduces unwanted heat loss or gain and can decrease the energy demands of heating and cooling systems. It does not necessarily deal with issues of adequate ventilation and may or may not affect the level of sound insulation. In a narrow sense insulation can just refer to the insulation materials employed to slow heat loss, such as: cellulose, glass wool, rock wool, polystyrene, urethane foam, vermiculite, perlite, wood fibre, plant fibre (cannabis, flax, cotton, cork, etc.), plant straw, animal fibre (sheep's wool), cement, and earth or soil, but it can also involve a range of designs and techniques to address the main modes of heat transfer - conduction, radiation and convection materials.[1][2" u r giving us a copy and psste information. u need to understand reason and why some technologies are in use. summer times i pray i never had any insulation at all. |

Somorin#1: In my experience yes you should have insulation, I would.
With insulation you will be able to control the interior temperature better with less external temperature influence. insulation is usually to trap heat indoors to reduce cost of heating the house in winter. i think its weather related, we live in temperate region, u need fan and air condition. |

Ikengawo: Consider this. Soyinka has been going on and on about mismanagement in Nigeria
To shut him up, IBB, the most corrupt anti-democratic, and murderous dictator in Nigerian history, makes him FRSC to monitor...don't laugh..roads.
He, because a career-politician, agrees.
Can you tell me he condition of roads in Nigeria during babangida, and the condition after? He's shot to make a difference was given to him by the man that was robbing Nigeria blind. He accepted, he failed, he went back on the street and started protesting Patience Jonathan while his former boss ANNULLED THE ONLY FAIR AND FREE ELECTION nigeria has ever seen and slaughtered a slew of journalists.
Yet Soyinka had the heart to speak against Patience Jonathan.
You make him the commissioner of roads, roads reach the peak of their dilapidation You put him in a university he introduces a campus cult You leave him in charge of combating westernization and colo-mentality, he moves to California.
Fraud. FRSC had been since the 60s/70s way before IBB became the president. |

pro01: Again, you can see the shameless display of hypocrisy and ethnocentric hate in this thread by Yoruba maggots. Yet they would be the first to call others "bigots", and worse still, claim to be defenders of democracy. NONE OF THEM HAS QUESTIONED THE LEGALITY OF FASHOLA'S ACTION, WHICH IN FACT IS THE REAL ISSUE. Instead, they are finding senseless justifications for this illegal, unconstitutional, and extremely provocative act.
These same hypocritical characters would scream 'we are in a democracy' when it suits them. They would run to Port Harcourt to stage protests in support of Amaechi and in 'defence of democracy', led by their filthy old buffoon of an ignoble laureate. I swear to God, these maggots are worthless and sub human, and I would be at the forefront of wiping them off the surface of the earth when a civil war breaks out soon, as it inevitably would. Fasola is helping us actualise our objectives. up biafra |

pro01: Why didn't the mad professor cûm ignoble laureate make noise about the illegal deportation of Nigerians from Lagos to Onitsha? Was that highly provocative action of the ACN government not a serious negation of democracy in Nigeria? And to think that most of the pro-Soyinka nincompoops on NL supported that action!!! Yet they are quick to lecture us on how supporting Amaechi is equal to fighting for democracy!
I trust my Ijaw brothers, they don't make empty threats, neither are they as cowardly as their oily counterparts that are fond of two-faced, hypocritical 'activism'.
