Let me tell you something, Op and everybody.

Masturbation is a bad habit I suppose, and like every bad habit, it feeds on mindset and willingness to indulge further.

My story!

Last year and upwards I was a big time agnostic. This means I strongly doubted God and his existence and that doubt gave me the needed freedom to explore life. I felt the need to live limitlessly since I'd conquered God and his caging dictates.
I was happy and free of all "indoctrination". I womanized, by the way that was my major. I found it hard to sleep alone and I rarely did, and none of the females knew. I was living the dream. I had everything smooth, academics and all.

I lived like this till December last year, an upwards of 4years. Stopped going to church and when I did go, I only sat there challenging the gospel in my head.

However, as with all agnostics, I still had this feeling that God still is. I had always known that these were all bad habits and the pleasure derived therefrom was overrated but the issue was getting myself to stop.

Nonetheless I made commitments to stop on several occasions but failed in all. The urge was enormous, especially when you are alone.

To cut it short, on 31st December last year I made a pledge to myself and to God (The Creator of heaven and earth, in His existence and wherever He is) that I was going to stop. It felt good but I fell again on 1st/2nd night.

Nobody will deliver you, nobody will pray for you. It is a decision that you and you alone will take. You dont need to open all your doors and windows and avoid being alone as many will advise.

I felt very bad after this last experience and decided this time to end it. I didnt cut off anything, I didnt stop talking to girls, though I got it minimized and strictly in line.
By the way, the first set of things I did were delete my porn collections, reorientate myself to the fact that breasts and behinds were nothing but parts of the body.
Then begin to see these girls in the same way that you see your sisters.

Sex is overrated. I've been there unfortunately, and there are times I just wish I never had sex for the first time

You can stop any bad habit. Just make up your mind to stop, and with conviction and determination. Nobody is clean enough to advise you against your habits.

Let me also correct something I've read from many people here.
Having a girlfriend who lets you have sex with her or getting a prostitute as backup will only increase your chances of indulging again (whether masturbation or outright sex)....you will always say stuff like "sin is sin, if I can have sex, why not I just masturbate? Or If I can masturbate, why don't I just have sex?" Plus having sex increases your chances of masturbating when she is not with you. That 5 seconds over hyped urge can always make the weak reach or for a phone or an option.

The advice is STOP, not substitute.

Depends on the friendship before, during and after the relationship...

If they (pardon my third-person tense)were friends before the relationship, then the relationship will be built on that and if they seperate after, the friendship would still likely be there (depending on what caused the breakup)

For relationships based on sex, money, physical beauty and other ephemeral things, after the breakup, they can't be friends, except for an occasional fling based on the aforementioned ephemeral things.

Would you say the church shouldn't have incorporated that? And if your argument is those songs' lyrics edify, then dancing to such should also edify irrespective of the kind of dance, right?

The controversy goes on and on, as other acts and way of doing things that originated from the secular are being "conformed to" in the church.

But (this is my opinion), if you feel it doesn't edify, don't do it.
If you feel it might cause others to stumble or sin, don't do it.
If you feel it might make unbelievers question your spiritual stand and you can't defend it biblically, don't do it.
