PoliticsNigeria Can Be Better, If: by Ladapo(op): 4:12pm On Jul 09, 2006
I think with the kind of things goin on in Nigeria now, we don't have to bother on where the next president comes from, we should rather focus on quality and the person. I think whoi we needis a people oriented person, a manger of sort,we need them new, young, vibrant, well groomed and energetic.

someonewho cares about the people in the rural areas, who cares about thousands of unemployed youths, who cares about posterity .

Enough of the talks, let's take a vote, suggest people of high moral standard and people who will not compromise to restructure NigeriaPolitically, becuase,I think the majorproblem we have on our hand is political and constitutional restructuring.

I see such a person in Pat Utomi, Dora Akunyili,Donald Duke, or what do you think?

Hello house,

I just met with the principal of Immaculate heart High School, Maryland and she said, we will have to pay and write certain letters. I can not do it alone, so if there is any other venue that can be proposed that won’t be as expensive or won’t even cost us money at all, then someone should suggest.

All the schools in Ikeja, I visited are charging as high as 30k – 20k.

The meeting might not hold after all. I thot it was going to be easy getting a venue, though I got, the Maryland school complex for 20k, it is kind of expensive to hire.

Tonisafe, we just might have to fix another date or not at all due to the financial involvement, this one that people are already complaining that 300 per person is too much. But be sure I will call you

and if we are sure we can all bill ourselves at 300 per person, then let's agree on something.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Seekers On Nairaland: Let's Get Organized by Ladapo(op): 12:11pm On Jul 03, 2006
There has been responses to this meeting issue, please, indicate your interest in the meeting first, so that we will know if it is going to hold at all.

Then people are complaining about Sat. and the time. Do you think the evening of sunday 16th is appropriate? please send mails now to ladapo4luv@yahoo.com.

[b]With the kind of speculations going around now, please let me be sure we are for this idea before I start making arrangements for our first meeting.

I was thinking of making arrangement for a venue and inviting one or two Consultants who will not only advise us on issues in the labour market but will give us their commitment to assisting us whenever the need arises for us to be called for interviews and subsequently get a job if we are found worthy.

Kindly indicate your interest in attending the Meeting on the 15th of July by sending your name, Nairaland I.D and a statement of commitment to be part of this event without causing any troubles at the venue, to ladapo4luv@yahoo.com <mailto:ladapo4luv@yahoo.com>.

The deadline for the entries is Tuesday, the 4th of July 2006. This step has been taken for us to know those who truly believe in this meeting and are ready for it before we start making our final arrangements of booking venues and inviting guests.

Please, let’s display a certain level of trust, understanding and maturity, if you don’t believe in this cause, there is no reason for you to come there but I want to believe we are all learned and will display some levels of such. Please, this is not an event for ladapo as an individual; I know where the shoe pinches and will not do anything to aggravate unemployed people’s suffering. We are all involved.

People want to change jobs and others are looking for jobs, so please let us just make this sacrifice.

Note: the final decision to go ahead with this plan will depend on the majority of people that are in support of it and support means total commitment.

Tonisafe, I am sorry i couldn't get back to you because I didn't get your number.

PoliticsPat Utomi Or Donald Duke? by Ladapo(op): 11:46am On Jul 03, 2006
Obasanjo has really tried, who in my own opinion, we need now is someone who can sustain obasanjos' policies or even give us better alternatives without scrapping the obasanjo ideals. Continuity in policies should be the rule of the game.

If I were to suggest, I think Pat Utomi or Donald Duke are good candidates for the position.

Everyone is talking about North/South divide, as far as I am concern, it should be old ideals against new ideals no matter where the pesron is coming from.

So please, Nigeria youths should wake, sleep, drink, reason and believe in Pat Utomi and Donald duke.

Well, I can understand people's feelings about the issue of money. As much as I would not like to be cheated, I would not subscribe to the idea of cheating.

It's like people are gettin he whole idea wrong, there has been no promise of automatic or instan job for anyone with this idea. It is just an idea for us all to get together once in a while, invite professional headhunters and consultants to see how they can help us in quest.  People should not misunderstand the whole thing.

Seun, there is nothing to be worried about, afterall it was an idea and it is noit compulsory e\we carry it ou. It is just goin to be a forum.

Attention all nairalanders:

May I crave your indulgence to let you know that all things been equal, we should be having our first physical meeting on the second saturday of July, 2006.

Though, I am still working on the modalities of the meetin, the proposed venues are; Maryland secondary school premises or the Ikeja millitary cantonment secondary school, Ikeja.

Time is 10 a. m to 2pm. I am going to consult the people in charge of the schools and work out the workabilities of the venue. It is also my intention to invite, the consultant, Micheal craig consulting to advice us and possibly get her to be commited to our belief.
so, endeavour to come around with your CV and possibly a token of 300 or less so we can pay for the venue and possibly be using such venue for a longer period of time.

Please, this is tentative, I will still be meeting with the consultant and the school in the next week. So, I promise to keep everyone posted.

Please noone should pay anybody any amount of money, as I will not be liable for any payment made to anyone. As soon as the venue is confirmed, just have the suggested money at hand so we can hand it over to whoever is in charge. And please, may I suggest we all come with one form of Identification or the other for security reasons.

Hello House:

What are we waiting for. Can we get started on our decision, I am very sure we can save ourselves.

Let's get started; suggest where, how and when we can meet. I don'r want to just push things to the house, I have raised the issues, others should raise other suggestions.

I have an headhunter who is ready to pay just to get the right candidate for a position, if we can get such person , we are okay.

Hello People,

Now that everyon has agreed, can we start acting. Enough of the talk, I hope I am not rude.

First, for those of us in lagos, let's break lagos into these locations;
1. Ikorodu-ketu-Ojota and Environs.
2. Ikeja-Maryland,Ojodu and environs,
3. Surulere-Yaba and environs,
4. Lekki-Victoria Island, Ikoyi and environs

Others in the other states, regions and abroad can break their environment into locations and agree on where and how to meet.

Anyone can suggest where each location can be meeting and let's have our first meeting. If you can not be there for 1 reason or the other, just be sure you will get to know about whatever we agreed on. I have made my first contact with ITJobs (A consultancy firm in Ojota) .

Let's work it out-NOW!

To your questions, I hope this is satisfactory enough.

That was I why I proposed we get organized and have a common goal. Why do employers use recruitment agencies and pay thenm heavily? Because they feel they should be taken off the burden of having to go thru the stress and getting the best.

If we can get 1 or two recruitment agencies and let them see how serious and how efficient we are, we sure can get them to help.

As an employer, it will be a forum for you to advertise your job without having to pay heavily in the dailies, afterall you can get all the proffessionas you want from nairaland. Let me give you an instance, there was a friend looking for a secretary, he couldn’t pay head hunters and did not know how to go about newspaper advert, until I suggested Nairaland to him, though he didn’t use it eventually cos he got his cousin.

Nairaland members are not exemption to the rules but what will make us special is the fact that we are together with a common goal and we are all going to be meeting regularly, meet with recruiters, organize seminars or refresher courses on how and what to do when we get jobs for ourselves. I tell you no body can feel our problems other than us.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Seekers On Nairaland: Let's Get Organized by Ladapo(op): 9:17am On Jun 22, 2006
Don't get me wrong, the plan is not to alienate anyone. If you are outside Nigeria, you can hold group meetings in locations closest to you, come back to the house and we havbe further delibrations on how we can move on. The decision of the house will then be final b4 we make the next move to the recruiters.

According to the plan, everyones interest, be it that you are inNigeria or outside will be protected.

There is more to gain from this idea if it works out and it can be done. all we have to do is to get started.

I belong to different international organisations including, the 2002-2012 Youth Employment summit group and I have been a delegate to the conference in Egypt,Mexico and in sept. Kenya. I am sure our interest can also be represented
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Seekers On Nairaland: Let's Get Organized by Ladapo(op): 5:19pm On Jun 21, 2006
It is not my intention to take the house for granted o,this is just a suggested idea to help the house.

We can segment th meetings, I mean we work eg if you are living in Ikeja,Maryland, ojodu and other close areas,we can meet at an agreed venue while others meet in different locations at the same time. Tehn we come back to the house, with each representatives at the diffrent locations giving a summary of the conclusion of delibrations.
That way, we won't have to stress ouyrselves.

Meanwhile, I am looking at the possibility of getting some headhunters to always come around whenever we ll be having such meetings.

That was why I suggested that we meet physically often. or we can talk to the people in charge of Nairaland to help us. for instance, I have the personal maill addy and fone numbers of some headhunters, we can meet these people and let them see reasons to give us certain percentage and advertise their jobs on Nairaland for free.

I this sounds good to you guys, it's just as uggestion

This Is Important For All Nairalanders << new title manufactured by Seun >>

Hello House

Something came to my mind and I think we can do it if we put our efforts and hearts together.

We can meet with some employers to reserve certain percentage of every offer they have to the nairaland house, this way we can be more sure that our members will have for sure certain job opportunities when they come. Then we can restrict the number of housemates or have qualifications for becoming members.

I also want to suggest that we organise physical meeting often, that way we can interact and share our problems together.

What do you think about this? I am suggesting this since we all have our certificates.

Hi people, what do we do about people trying to take advantage of our situations?

-fictitous websites
-dubious individuals
-agencies
et.al

the most disturbing is that of employment agencies that are supposed to be of help.

I think the following agencies should be very careful: phillip Consulting,Kimberly ryan, mactay tack and others like them.

While agencies like micheal Craig and others like it should be encouraged.

Or maybe we should start blacklisting some of them.

or what do u think.
