freedom@last:
Thank God Okada was banned on that road. It used to be a blood-fest, sometimes with body parts strewn all over the tarmac.
The road is an expressway, and as such, people expect to be able to move at a good speed. Unfortunately, pedestrians arrogantly assume that car drivers are always alert, and can always see them, and will therefore try to avoid them. Most drivers expect pedestrians to be smart especially when crossing the road, and make no provisions for the slow, the weak and unfortunately, the elderly.

Even cars are not spared on the Lekki axis...almost everyday, I see one or more accidents: for instance a bus collided with the concrete divider at the Chevron toll gate on Tuesday 26th August. I got there as they were loading the guy into the ambulance...no idea whether he was dead or alive, or whether other people were injured.

I have not been spared as well, cause my car was hit and badly damaged yesterday, while I was negotiating the Lekki roundabout by a bus that drove out of Lekki Phase 1, without slowing down. Of course his insurance had expired.

Sensitization should be one of the duties of the LCC to educate people on proper road etiquette. It is amazing that within the past two years, on this same road, despite the fact that I usually only ply the road during the off-peak hours, I have seen:

1. A G-Wagon upside down in the middle of the road
2. Innumerable bike accidents, sometimes with the bodies still twitching.
3. A car burn down and its fuel tank spectacularly explode. (ok, not really the fault of the road, but still...)
4. More than 10 Cars drive straight through the roundabout.
5. Cars speed through the bends at the round about, apply brakes suddenly, and lose control.

If you live on that axis, please be veeeeeery careful.
I once saw a car do a 360 degree spin ala James Bond, because he was racing with some other car and lost control. He narrowly avoided the street light pole. sparks flew from inside the engine.

rafhell: Kudos!
I drive that road virtually every day to lekki estate.
One other thing that baffles me is that some people choose to cross the express way instead of using the pedestrian bridge.
Truth be told the pedestrian brides are not enough, especially when you have to walk 800m !

You're one of those who think football is all about attacking and attacking. The man don;t have a striker.....He is looking for one and a dim-wit like you still will find some fault about His formation as if you know better.**

First of all kid, don't be rude to people on the internet, you never know who is behind the moniker- might be dad,mum or your relative.
Analyse football sans emotion and insults.
Mourinho is afraid of United-simple.
He knows United will NEVER sell Rooney to him but has spent all summer trying to unsettle the lad,the team and David Moyes.
He has shown Moyes a total lack of respect which is something he would NEVER have tried with Sir Alex.
I repeat only ONE team came out to play football last night, while the other team came to defend. Played with out a striker and was looking for a cheap goal via a penalty.
apart from the bolded the rest of your post makes sense

why do I say this?

a careful check online would prove to you that JOSE MOURINHO HAS A BETTER HEAD TO HEAD WITH MAN U

in 15 matches, Sir Alex only won once against Mourinho. Mind you this goes back to Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid days

So why would he be afraid of Manchester united?

This issue is a long standing one and I blame the Fed Govt fully. Despite the fact that UN recommends you spending 27% of your annual budget on education, Nigeria spends a paltry 7%. Shows you the sincerity of the Fed Govt towards education.

Ike~lips:
Chapter 36

The next morning i went into the kitchen to look for my garri. Behold my sack was gone. I could not believe it. I screamed the devil is a liar. But who could do this to me? I had become the biggest garri dealer in the village and i had many enemies. It could only be my biggest competitor, the alhaji wanna be. You cannot outsmart your master. I had to teach him a lesson. I went to Ikeji to buy 5 more bags of garri. Since they were 50kgs. I could not use okada. I paid a taxi and he took me to my uncle's place. I decided to keep my bags of garri there because they would be safe there. I promise him and his wife 25kgs if they made sure my bags were safe.

They lived 3 blocks from me so i walked home from their house. I got into my room and i boiled a cup of tea. It was time to teach this alhaji wanna be a lesson. No one steals my goods and gets away with it scot free. I went outside i found a couple of boys playing soccer on an open ground. It was entertaining to watch. I watched it until the boys got into fight over one of the strikers who was offside. This big boy was given a good beat down buy a boy who was almost half his size. Everyone just watched and no one tried to stop the until the big boy's mother came running holding a big machete to break the fight. I thought this orobo just had to spoil the fun. Thats was how the soccer game ended.
The orobo dragged her son by the ear back home. I decided to follow them. I thought to myself this could be the perfect guy to help me plot against my enemy. Nonso was going to pay for what he did to my garri. I caught up wit the orobo who was dragging her son by the ear i said to her.

"Ma can i please talk to your son"

She gave me this disgusted look and she started swearing at me in a dialect i could not understand. The son tried to calm her down but she hit with the machete she was holding. Luckily she used the side of the machete otherwise it was going to slice her son in half. I just stood there in shock. I could not believe this mad woman. She dey craze? I went and held her back and i told her i wanted to talk to her about getting her son a job and staying out of trouble. She looked like someone who was struggling to take her family. The clothes she wore looked old and the son was wearing a torn shirt.
She calmed down and asked me what kind of job i could offer her son. I told her that she could transport my garri for me to other cities and in return he would receive a reasonable pay plus a 50kg of garri every month. She hesitated at first, but after convincing her it would keep her son off the streets she eventually agreed. She warned me not to use her son to transport drugs because if i did, her babalawo would deal with me. I wondered to myself, but why didn't she use the same babalawo to make money so she could buy more appropriate clothes?

This is one thing that has always confused me about people who are into black magic. They give up so much and they never get what they expect before it back fires. I remember an uncle of mine back in my village. He used juju so that his sons would not marry. He wanted them to work and send him money. If they didn't have families to take care of, it meant that they would have more than enough to send to him to get what he wanted. Funny enough, his sons never married but neither were they able to keep jobs. They made women all over pregnant.
They ended up spending more on their illegitimate children and less on this poor man. He confessed to everything when he taught he was about to die. You know people who keep the big secrets to the death bed. Unfortunately he did not die soon after confessing.
He eventually got better. All of his sons cut contact with him. Out of the 5 sons 2 of them married. The oldest moved in with a woman who had 3 children for him but they never got married. One moved to Thailand he got caught up in drug trafficking and he got caught and killed. They tried getting his body sent back to Nigeria, but it was to no avail. 3 months had passed and they were pretty sure he had been cremated and his ashes where thrown away. That was the end of Temi. He was never given any respects. He just faded away like dust.

The youngest moved to Lagos and became a yahoo boy. I wanted to raise enough money to go overseas to start a new life there. I guess he got caught up in the fun Lagos had to offer, after 3years he was still in Nigeria. One of the villagers passed rumors that he was lying to people that his father was abroad and he would soon join him. Meanwhile his father walking looking half dead in Sagamu.

Uncle suffered a stroke, he is still alive, but after seeing him sometimes you would think that it would have been better if he was dead. None of his sons wanted anything to do with him. One of the son's wife used to send someone to the village with groceries and she paid someone to take care of him. The husband did not know about it but everyone else did. Evil always fires back evil.

I took this big boy who introduced himself as Solo. I told him about my offered but he had to do something for me before i could trust him with my goods. Take down Nonso and his business. He had to go to Nonso's compound and pour a bucket of urine on all his bags of garri that he had kept in a storage room. Solo was not comfortable with it at first. I promised to deal with the guy that humiliated him at the ground earlier. After thinking about it, he eventually agreed. I told him to drink a lot of water and pee in a bucket, he had to use the same urine to pour it on the garri. He became enthusiastic about it. I told him that i would meet him in the evening with the address.

At 7pm he met me behind an abandoned house people swore was haunted. Some even said they saw fire in the shape of a human being dancing around that place after midnight. Some said they heard chanting coming out of the house. Some said they saw goblins there playing football using their own heads. I was not a superstitious person so i believed all of it me nonsense. We made the plans and agreed on how he would execute it. Just before we left the house i heard a woman moaning and the sound was coming put of the abandoned house.
She sounded she was moaning in pleasure. We either had to run away because of the stories we heard about the house or we had to go inside to see what was going on in the house. Out of curiosity Solo and i decided to sneak into the house to se what was going on. We went round to the entrance and the door was open. We entered the house and as we walked close to the room where the sound was coming from my manhood was slowly rising to the moans this woman was making. It was getting me excited. I didnt know what to expect.

bloggernaija: This guy is far more articulate , refined ,cultured ,opinionated ,principled and knowledgeable than the fella under the rock and his shepopotamus wife.
Anybody wondering why people in the SW are rooting for him should take the above as some of the reason.
His response to the question about dealing with militancy is what you expect from truly educated strong and civilised leader .
You do not reward criminality with gifts.
Saro wiwa ,wole Soyinka gani fawehimi - freedom fighter
Dokubo ,tompolo - criminals

You also see him dance around entrapping question from which would have made him accuse the federal government led by GEJ.

Now
The question is
Why did OBJ ,after having worked with the likes of ribabu , Raphael ndukwe, ekwesili ,amaechi and with nigeria having a lot of professionals excelling overseas ,chose umaru and this "PHD " lecturer (a typical, lazy ,nigerian civil service salary earner with no record of achievement, drive and who lacks the modern outlook required to govern in this iPad age.
Not much different was his choice of associating with the likes of Akala, adedibu ,agagu,Uba etc.
Believe me. If amaechi is pitted against Jonathan. Amaechi will win 10 times out of 10.
If Jonathan likes it or not ,he will become irrelevant like obasanjo once his time is over.
Amaechi will dominate that part of the country just like tinubu .
The fools were busy abusing Soyinka without realising that the man has friends and status in very high places and the ability to use his contact to focus the international press on Nigeria and rivers state.
Even the stupid Abacha lived to regret
The British government has already picked up on the 1 billion dollars Malabo oil racket between GEJ ,Madueke and ikimi

N.B
I Have just shown excerpts of this interview and Jonathan's CNN interview to some Oyinbo friends.
I told them to guess ,"which of the two is a PHD holder"?
Your guess is as good as theirs
The four of them chose amaechi.
1. simple. OBJ wanted a guy he could control and would NOT probe him after his departure from office. In this climes, loyalty is preferred to merit.

2. at a fair battle yes, but in the real world no.

3. OBJ is NOT irrelevant. I recall the president visiting hi at his hill top mansion on Monday. same day 4 governors visited him. does that sound like an irrelevant man?
PoliticsRe: Patience Jonathan’s Mother Dies In Car Crash by ladeski: 1:01pm On Jul 23, 2013
sexymoma: ah ah she is old na, why the pity? everybody must die one way or the other.
Either by accident, sickness,Too much Money too can kill o, natural death huh sorry is there anything like natural death.
there is dear one, that said 'natural death' is difficult to define.

According to pathologists, "A natural death is a death that results from a natural disease process, distinct from a death that results from accident or violence." But nowadays death from disease is rarely allowed to be natural; it is artificially prolonged by drugs and/or machines and in the eyes not only of medical professionals but of most patients and families, it results from medical measures' failure. It can hardly be said that someone who has spent his or her last hours in an ICU, as pictured on the page about death at www.stewardsoftheflame.com, has died naturally.

The fundamental premise of Stewards of the Flame is that the the logical culmination of this trend would be to deny death entirely, assuming that the machines were "improved" to the point of keeping mindless bodies functioning indefinitely -- and that this would be a very bad thing. Natural death, in my opinion, is death resulting from the normal shutting down of the body when the unconscious mind is ready to die. It happens to everyone, if no accident or acute disease strikes prematurely, as long as the process is not thwarted by interference with the body in the way all too common today. I am aware that this view is termed "deathism" by the proponents of technological life extension, some of whom fervently believe that physical immortality is just around the corner. I don't think it's going to turn out that way. I think people will go on dying in old age (older than the present maximum) no matter what technology does to repair their bodies.

The life-extension enthusiasts admit that people might get bored in time and say that in that case, they could kill themselves. I have personally known people who say this. And of course, the issue of assisted suicide for the terminally ill is a major controversy today. I live in Oregon, where assisted suicide is legal, so I hear a good deal about it. I fear that if such a choice is legitimatized and becomes common, some people will choose to hasten death merely to spare their families the physical and financial burden of caring for them, and eventually those of us without families may be subtly discouraged from continuing to receive care at the expense of the taxpayers. This situation would not exist if high-tech intervention were not automatically employed early in the course of illness which, in the case of an elderly person, is inevitably going to be fatal.

There has been a lot of discussion in the past few decades about the pointless and often cruel way in which people are routinely treated in their last months of life, and many calls for reform. But though the solution -- hospice care -- is now available, comparatively few people take advantage of it. Many are simply unaware that it exists. Others, or their families, are so conditioned by our culture's denial of death that they believe rejecting futile treatment is tantamount to suicide, or at best an abandonment of "hope." In my novel, the forced prolongation of pseudo-life is not arbitrarily imposed by the medical authorities that run the planet; it is a law supported by the people, who do not want to admit that they are mortal. I suspect this is a realistic assumption about what would happen. The vast majority of Americans polled say that they want to die at home, not in a hospital; yet they end up in hospitals all the same. Continuation of treatment is not compulsory, yet most don't contest the medical establishment's imposition of it, perhaps because don't know that they can -- that there are better alternatives -- or perhaps because society as a whole offers no support for the idea that the natural ending of life need not involve suffering. Unfortunately, the only thing likely to bring about widespread change is the financial impossibility of providing high-tech terminal care to an aging population.
