The main reason why he gives you quit notice is because you won't be able or won't agree to pay the current rent he wants to give the house now. So old tenants the best is to give them notice to quit. Besides how long have you lived in the house?

my brother if you don't own a house you built from the scratch personally under your supervision to ensure that no one cheats you, you won't understand.
