Politics / Atiku Denies Being Chief Financier Of Cattle Breeders by LadyNaija(f): 8:33am On Jan 06, 2018
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed allegations linking him as the chief financier of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).
A statement in Abuja by his media aide, Paul Ibe, said: “It is very disheartening that in this period of intense grief in Benue State, Chief Paul Unongo would choose to level these sad and false allegations on the person of Atiku, who he erroneously described as the chief financier of MMACBAN.

“Yes, Atiku is a Fulani and proud to be one and has never hidden that fact. However, he is a thoroughly detribalised Nigerian that would never favour one ethnic group over another.”

The statement recalled that during the massive flood in the state last year, which affected over 100,000 families, Atiku, who is the Zege Mule U Tiv, donated cash to the state government for the care of the victims, a development befitting of man, whose Tiv traditional title means, ‘the biggest shade of the Tiv people.’

Ibe said it is strange that Unongo chose to neglect that act of love and care from the former vice president to the people of Benue and his call on the federal government to do more to assist the flood ravaged communities.

“Let it be known that though Waziri Adamawa is a Fulani, he is not a member of MACBAN, nor has he ever been a member. He has also never discussed about that group with Unongo.

“Furthermore, Atiku enjoins that a thorough investigation be made into the killings in Benue and anyone found culpable be made to bear the full weight of the law.
“Atiku prays for the souls of the departed and as a traditional title holder of Tivland, he assures the entire people of Benue (including the Idoma and Igede) that he would do everything in his power to bring justice, relief and compensation their way.”

Politics / 2019: PDP Demands Amaechi’s Resignation Over Buhari’s Re-election Campaign by LadyNaija(f): 8:11pm On Jan 04, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate resignation of the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, from the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Punch reports that the PDP, which hinged its demand on the alleged appointment of Amaechi as the director general of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term campaign, also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

A statement issued on Thursday, January 4, in Abuja by the spokesman for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the minister must leave office immediately and face his new assignment. He said: “If APC has any strand of dignity, then Amaechi must resign as the minister of transportation having been appointed and already functioning as the DG of President Buhari’s campaign. “Under the constitution of Nigeria, Amaechi cannot combine the job of a minister of the Federal Republic with another responsibility such as the DG of a campaign organisation.

“Amaechi’s action in accepting the job while still holding office as minister is in clear breach of the oath of office and the oath of allegiance which he swore in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended). He should, therefore, resign his office as minister with immediate effect.”

He alleged that Amaechi had already begun to function as the DG Campaign for Buhari second term, adding that, he already held meetings with some of the governors elected on the platform of the APC. Ologbondiyan recalled that when as a serving minister of works, Chief Tony Anenih, was appointed to head the campaign of then President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Anenih resigned as minister.

Accusing APC of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians, Ologbondiyan expressed shock that, "APC was now more interested in setting up an electoral structure for a second term when Nigerians are dying daily of hunger and poverty while others are being killed in their communities by marauders, owing particularly to APC’s dismal performance in its nearly three years in office.

“Is it not instructive for Nigerians to now know that the APC has not the littlest agenda on governance for our people and do not have the interest of Nigerians at heart. They have shown that all they care for is their selfish political and pecuniary interests”, Ologbondiyan said.

[b]Fuel subsidy: Presidency peddling falsehood 'Senate

Thu, 04 Jan 2018
Senate declared, yesterday, that the Presidency is deliberately peddling falsehood regarding a request to pay oil marketers.
Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, had, during a meeting with stakeholders in the oil industry, on Tuesday, on the perennial fuel scarcity in the country, blamed scarcity of petrol on the failure of the Senate to approve a loan request submitted to it by the Executive, for the payment of debts owed oil marketers
Yesterday, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, in a statement, said the upper legislative chamber never received any request from the presidency.

Senate flays presidency, fuel marketers seek tax holiday
Thu, 04 Jan 2018
The Senate yesterday condemned reports attributed to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, suggesting that the failure to pay subsidy debts owed oil marketers was due to the chamber’s refusal to approve a loan request.
In a statement, the spokesman Aliu Sabi Abdullahi stressed that as far as the Senate was concerned, the Buhari administration cancelled the payment of subsidy on petroleum products since 2016, therefore the talk about any loan could not be true.
“The attention of the Senate has been drawn to a claim said to have been made by the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, during a meeting with stakeholders in the oil industry on the perennial fuel scarcity in the country, to the effect that the payment of debt owed oil marketers was being delayed because the National Assembly has not approved request presented to the legislature for loan meant for that purpose,” the statement notes.

These and other issues were pushed forward at the engagement of stakeholders, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC; Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR; Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN; Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN; Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association, DAPPMA and others, hosted by Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources in Abuja, yesterday.

Politics / Leaked Conversations From Aso Villa Demons’ First 2018 Meeting by LadyNaija(f): 2:49pm On Jan 03, 2018
At the banquet hall of the presidential residence, Abuja, the Aso Villa demons are having the first meeting of the year. Their meeting is characterised by a lot of laughter, mockery and of course, drums and songs for dancing.

After minutes of dancing, the chief demon steps in; the drums roll a for a minute more before coming to a halt. The demons sit in order of hierachy, as they await the words of the chief.

(Chief clears throat to give the first speech of the year).

“Good evening gentlemen and ladies of the celestial villa, it is with great pleasure and a deep sense of gratitude that I welcome you to the first meeting of the year 2018.

“You all deserve a raise; your work in 2017 was remarkable. You recorded feats we have never seen in the history of this nation. Not even Sanni Abacha fell prey to our tricks as much as you made this man fall to them in 2017.

“For the first time in 57 years, we ensured that the man at the helm appointed masquerades (men of the world yonder) to his government to lead key agencies as board chairmen.

(Confusion and Delay, the demons responsible for this feat stand up and take a bow. The chief raises his right arm to make gestures of gratitude to the demons of the year 2017. He continues…).

“We gave them blind eyes to ignore the fracas between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS). We ensured that Baba Lawal was sent back to his house in Borno since he was not cooperating. How can he use only N200 million to cut grass, when his mates are using over N4 billion to maintain the villa?

“We should send special gifts to Baba Garba, Uncle Femi, Prof Tsetse Sirkay, and Abu Mallami as our men of the year 2017. They made our work extremely easy this year. For Baba Garba, he embarassed the president with his rodents on rampage narrative, making rats chase the president from office for over two months.

“For Uncle Femi, it was a move from one blunder to the other. To cap a remarkable year, he cooked a presidential documentary where visuals were faster than sound, showing the incompetent side of his media team and the other side of the president. To make our work easier, he insisted that the documentary be aired at a time when only himself and the team in the villa would watch it. Insensitivity, how did you pull that off?

(Insensitivity, a four-eyed demon stands up to answer the chief. He speaks…)

“My lord, I cannot take all the credit for that one o. Uncle Femi is a phenomenal man. He is simply a man who loves to see the positive side of everything. When his boys told him not to air the documentary, I just whispered to him: ‘your boys complain too much; in fact if they mistakenly find themselves in Heaven, they would even complain against God’. That was all I said, Uncle Femi did the rest.”

“In fact, it will be harder to convince governor Rochas to build a statue of George Weah than to get Uncle Femi to see the bad side of things.”

(Insensitivity takes a bow and sits. The chief continues…)

“We should send Maina’s golden gate to Mallami for a job well done. And perhaps send a beautiful whistle-blowing tip to Prof Sirkay, who added colour to our 2017.”

“A round of applause for you all. It was a remarkable year. Let us celebrate.”

(The demons turn up with irrational laughter, drumming, dancing, and drinking to a great 2017)
DEMONS REVIEW PLANS FOR 2018

(The chief calls for calm, as demons get seated for planning the new year. Chief speaks…)

“We need to plan; our vision for 2018 must be brighter and more daring that what we saw for 2017. We must excel, break records, and set landmarks, never seen in the history of this nation. So the floor is open, make your suggestions for the year.”

(Deception stands up and laughs continually for 18 minutes, as other demons join the laughter parade like drunk men. He stops abruptly and begins to speak)

“2018 is my year! As it is the last year before another general election, it is my time to shine. As it is my culture every year before an election, I would put a lying tongue in the mouth of almost everyone in the Villa. With this, I would effectively put the president in a bubble, detached from reality.

“I have started my work; as you must have noticed in the president’s speech on January 1. I put a lying tongue in the mouth of his speech writers to blame Nigerians for fuel scarcity, when in fact, it is an increase in global price of petrol, coupled with poor policies, and his lack of investment in local refining, that is causing this particular scarcity.

“With the remarkable patience Nigerians displayed in 2017, I made the president blame them for being so impatient.

“I would ensure that some young minds in this half of the villa tell other youths on social media that the president is the best thing that has happened in Nigeria after Jollof rice. I so submit.”

(The demons give deception a round of applause as political prostitution takes the stage)

“My lord, you know this is my time to shine too. I plan to find a way to the hearts of every politician that steps into the villa. This year, I will unveil my pet project called ‘cross-carpeting’. I have tried out my wand on Atikulate and Obanikoroad, and it worked just fine.

“I am planning on getting Tinuboot and Sir Raki to move, but both men are proving to be very stubborn. My lord, I shall try harder and bring you update by the time we meet again in February.”

(The Chief takes over…)

“Thank you for your brilliant contributions. I am afraid we have to halt the meeting for now; If all is well, the first Federal Executive Council meeting should be on, and we must attend to inspire some havoc.

“As we go, I want us to think really hard on why Nigerians say there are no demons in the Villa, when dead people are appointed as board chairmen. Personally, I think we have been operating too much in the background, let’s work harder to make it to the next list of appointees.

“Meeting adjourned.”

(They all rise as the chief leads the procession out of the hall).

A high number of potential candidates seeking to join the armed forces but are rejected because of the infection is raising serious concern about the disease.
“People don’t present early, most people rush to traditional or normal conventional paracetamol before they come to us, by then the situation is already fulminant. Fulminant means the liver has been damaged so much within a short time,” a consultant gastroenterologist and pathologist at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Dr Yusuf Maisuna Abdulkadir, said.

Politics / 'nigerians Will Vote You Out In 2019,' Fr. Mbaka Tells President by LadyNaija(f): 5:35am On Jan 02, 2018
Outspoken Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has said that Nigerians will change President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 if he does not ensure things change for the better in the new year.

Mbaka, who is the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries Enugu (AMEN) issued the warning at the new year eve service of his Ministry at its Adoration Ground Emene, Enugu State..

He berated the Buhari administration, saying it brought untold hardship upon the people, adding that the President must quickly find a solution to the numerous challenges in the country - economic hardship tops the list.
"He should change quickly or else Nigerians will change him in 2019," Mbaka said.
Mbaka, however, opined that Buhari is a good man but has been hijacked by a cabal.
He advised the Northerners to look for another candidate in place of Buhari ahead of the 2019 election.

The preacher suggested Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwanbo as a suitable replacement for Buhari. He said the governor is performing very well in his state.
At a similar forum in 2014, Mbaka prophesied the defeat of then incumbent President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections and his replacement by Buhari - the prophecy came to pass.

Politics / Best New Year's Resolution Ideas And How To Achieve Each Of Them by LadyNaija(f): 10:34am On Jan 01, 2018
The New Year is here, and with the holiday season already upon us many people are indulging in retrospection and reevaluating some of their life choices. New Year’s resolutions are the perfect opportunity for all those who have failed to start making the changes that they said they would make next week, next month, or perhaps when winter starts.
Well, now’s your chance to sit down and prepare a list of important lifestyle changes you want to make, and being the charitable and caring bunch that we are here at Lifehack, we’ve decided to give you a bit of help – because since the majority of people fail to stick to their resolution, you’ll need all the help you can get.

Stop procrastinating: The biggest barrier that keeps most people from reaching their goals is the desire to relax and do something fun instead of working hard. Once you get used to procrastinating it’s difficult to snap yourself out of it, so you’ll need to put in a lot of work to change this bad habit. There are many useful tips out there to find your way to stop procrastinating. There are also tools which can help you achieve this task.

Meet new people: When we get stuck in a rut, we usually end up staying at home most of the time, missing out on a lot of interesting opportunities for networking and having fun. Meeting new people can be beneficial to your mental well-being and help your career, so don’t be afraid to get out there and make some friends. Overcome your shyness, get some knowledge and go and get to know new and interesting people.

Become more active: Some people don’t really have a big weight problem, and they even get some exercise a few times a week, but they just sit around the most of the time at home and at work, which can have a negative effect on their posture and health. In that case, all you need is to find ways of moving around more throughout the day instead of staying hunched over the computer. It’s even more fun if you share your activity with friends and family.

Become more confident and take some chances: If you are confident other people notice it, and it is much easier to have your opinions heard, ask people out on dates and get ahead at work. A good dose of self-confidence will help you lead a much happier life overall. Don’t hesitate to get some input on ways to boost your confidence.

Earn more money: Even billionaires are always looking for ways to earn more money, and we common folk can definitely use an additional source of income to make life a bit more comfortable. Fortunately there are plenty of options available, like having sidejobs, working as a freelancer or using the internet to your advantage.

Learn to be happier with your life: Even those that are in decent shape, make a good living and have stress under control can still be unhappy. It takes time and patience to learn how to find joy in the little things and not to let problems bring you down.

Give up cigarettes: A bit of bad habit that a lot of people don’t know how to kick, smoking will not only endanger your health, but can burn a hole in your wallet as well. Just be prepared to dedicate a lot of will power to giving up cigarettes once and for all.

Watch less TV: The average person wastes a lot of time in front of the TV, time that could have been better spent developing skills, learning or keeping your body active. Once you manage to cut down on TV time, you will realize just how long and productive a day can really be.

Spend more time with the people that matter: There is just too little time in this life for us to waste it on insincere, duplicitous and toxic people. We should focus on the people who we care about deeply and who care about us, as this is the best way to stay happy.

Well, there you have it – an extensive list of advice, tips and tricks to help you see your New Year’s resolution through and make some long-term changes in your life. We wish you all a Happy New Year from all of us all at Naija Newspapers Media

Politics / 21st Century Leader Of A Country Like Nigeria Did Not Know His Real Year Age-pdp by LadyNaija(f): 5:01pm On Dec 26, 2017
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has labelled as “national disgrace” the declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari, that he had all the while believed he was 74 years.

The PDP, in a statement by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Prince Diran Odeyemi in Osogbo, Tuesday, pointed out that many Nigerians and even the global community must have been taken aback that a 21st century leader of a country like Nigeria did not know his real year of birth.

The statement said, “How many other inconsistencies are in Mr. President’s biodata submitted to INEC? We are sure there are more. And the world is waiting on the body to give details about our President.

“We advise INEC to revisit those forms President Buhari filled in all elections he had participated in, especially those he filled before 2015 elections to unearth other inconsistencies therein. In a normal clime, the electoral umpire would have set in motion verification modalities to avoid further national embarrassment and expose Mr President.

“Come to think of it, a leader that does not know his real age, could not be said, to have sound knowledge of the people and country he governs, let alone knowing the peculiarities of the governed. This is simply not the kind of president Nigeria needs at the moments.

“Not too long ago, Nigeria became laughing stock with the inappropriate designation of German Chancellor, Angela Merkel as President of West Germany by President Buhari.

“We recall President Buhari once admitted that his age would slow down his performance in office. For a country that could fall into an emergency situation anytime, like the present government-failing induced fuel scarcity, we don’t need a president that forgets things easily.

“We advise Mr. President to consider turning in his resignation letter to avoid further slowing down the country because of his age, and to also safe our corporate image as a country that had a Presidential with “occasional memory failure”.

House Of Reps Member Spotted Riding Bicycle Due To Fuel Scarcity

According to a Facebook user, Sameul Meyiwa Khalil, the lawmaker, Loveth Idisi, representing Ethiope federal constituency in Delta state, allegedly abandoned his vehicle for a bicycle after he was unable to get fuel.

While some Nigerians have commended this as act that shows the down to earth side of the lawmaker, others have condemned this act, referring to it as a political gimmick.

Recall that several other political leaders have reacted to the current fuel scarcity which has been blamed on marketers allegedly hoarding fuel.

I thought I was 74 but was told Im 75 Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, stirred up a fresh controversy over his real age when he said he thought he was 74 but was told he was 75.
Buhari spoke when the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello, led a delegation to pay him Christmas homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President, joined by some state governors and other top government officials, celebrated his 75th birthday penultimate Sunday. He was said to have been born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, in present day Katsina State.
While thanking his guests for the visit, Buhari recalled the health challenge that kept him away from the country for months earlier in the year, admitting that 2017 had been a tumultuous year for him.
The President said he had recovered well from the sickness because he obeyed his doctors who instructed him to be eating and sleeping well.

MINING SITE: Sanusi II Wades Into Dangote, BUA Crisis
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has intervened in the raging controversy between Dangote Group and BUA Group over a mining site located in Okpella area of Edo State.

Africa’s richest man and chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, owns Dangote industries limited, the producer of Dangote Cement, while business mogul, Abdulsamad Rabiu owns the BUA Group, producer of BUA cement. Both are natives of Kano.
The conflict over the rightful ownership of Mining Lease No 2541 between the duo has been on in the past few weeks, with both sides engaging in accusations and counter accusations, including name dropping in the media.
Obviously disturbed by the pace at which the war is taking, Emir Sanusi II stepped in by calling the two multi-billionaires to order so as to end the war, which is said to be doing more damage to their relationships and even affecting their business associates.

Tragic Xmas in Abuja
Christmas turned bloody yesterday for residents of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In the incident, 10 persons were reportedly killed, churches and houses razed in the clash between Gwari and Hausa/Fulani, which started at about nine o’clock in the morning.
Residents told Daily Sun that the crisis began when Christians were attending the Christmas service, and were attacked by Fulani leading to the burning down of the ECWA Church in the area.
It was gathered that the crisis between the Fulani and the Gwari who are the indigenes of the area had been lingering for sometime and that the Fulani who had allegedly been planning to carry out the attack, decided to do so on Christmas Day.

NNPC not FG bears the cost of fuel subsidy, say Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo clarified on Monday that the NNPC and not the Federal Government pays for the fuel subsidy that has emerged with the N171 landing cost as against the official retail price of N145.

In an interview with newsmen in Apapa Lagos, he said since the NNPC buys the fuel, it bears the cost. “NNPC is trading in fuel; the Federal Government is not, at the moment, paying for any subsidy. NNPC is trading. If you are buying and selling fuel, you would have to be able to pay for it. So, it’s not a question of government provision for subsidy, the Federal Government, at the moment, isn’t paying any subsidy. And don’t forget that the way that the NNPC trades is that, in many cases, NNPC is actually giving fuel; there is 445, 000 barrels of fuel. So really what you are seeing, in many cases, is more or less an exchange for PMS. So at the moment NNPC is paying the cost”.

2017 Nigeria’s most difficult year – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said 2017 had been a very tough year for Nigeria, assuring citizens that 2018 will be prosperous.

“It has been a tough year for Nigeria and I hope next year will be a much more prosperous one,” the president said when he received a delegation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) residents who paid him Christmas homage in the Presidential Villa, Abuja

Buhari, however, said God had answered the prayers of Nigerians as the rainy season was good and farmers recorded bumper harvest across the country.

“But God listened to the majority of us, the rainy season was very good and some states have got very good information from home; I never knew that the people from Kano who are more resourceful used to go to my area and hire farms. This year nobody hired farm, and nobody regretted it.

This is our worst Christmas, Nigerian laments

A combined team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and security agents on Sunday uncovered illegal reservoirs of fuel in Abuja.

Speaking at the site of the mini depot, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, said it was saddening to make such discoveries in the city center when less than 500 meters away, motorists were on endless queues. Hundreds of jerry cans, 200-liter drums, and 500 liter tanks were uncovered in a sting operation by the team in the city center. According to him, the perpetrators have caused untold pain and hardship on Nigerians during a crucial season as Christmas. “In the war room (where crucial issues are discussed during fuel crises), we asked ourselves why the situation (fuel queues) persists.

2015 presidential
Buhari ran in the 2015 Presidential election as a candidate of the All Progressives Congress party. His platform was built around his image as a staunch anti-corruption fighter and his incorruptible and honest reputation. However, Buhari stated in an interview that he would not probe past corrupt leaders and that he would give officials who stole in the past amnesty, insofar as they repent.
In January 2015, the insurgent group "The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta" (MEND) endorsed Buhari in the Presidential race, saying he is the best candidate to lead the country.
Muhammadu Buhari's campaign was briefly advised by former Obama campaign manager, David Axelrod,[87] and his AKPD consultancy.
In February 2015, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo quit the ruling PDP party and threw his support behind the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket.
On 31 March, incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan called Buhari to offer his concession and congratulations for his election as president. Buhari was sworn in on 29 May 2015 in a ceremony attended by at least 23 Heads of State and Government.
