Lady T, i take it that you willfully choose to look down on people who feel they are beta or would be on d long run, well i reserve my comments but if per adventure your parents lived in the UK in the 50's to the 70's *just like my parents* then u would agree that there is no place like home as they would tell u that when they relocated back here they found that those they left here were doing beta than they that worked their fingers to the bone in the land of the oyinbo man!

I am not looking down on anyone but its crazy to say its easy to make it in Nigeria!

Trust me I have had it drummed into my since I was a child that there is no place like home.  I have been told I need to get my education get my qualification's and then I need to start thinking of what I want to achieve before I go home.  My mum used to take us to Nigeria like 3 times a year when we were kids I think because she feared we would not know where we are from!

My Dad has already relocated and non of his peers he left behind have surpassed what he has achieved.  

Look if God grants that you are able to make in Nigeria then Good luck. But please stop making out like its really easy and those abroad wasting their time because the same opportunities can get in the UK are there in Nigeria.

The same people who bust their guts go home and bulid massive houses and act like its not cleaning they do over here. They do gain something from it.

I know one insane Ghana lady who works 5 jobs thats just madness to me but shes currently buliding her 3rd house in Ghana!

But education is free in the UK! You get the correct grades you can do any job you want regardless of your background. You dont need to bribe anyone or beg someone to get you the job you deserve.


(Actually education is not 100% free in all cases Im going to have to pay for my second degree but thats another topic)

More needs to be done for the people. The destruction of land where oil is "farmed" is a disgrace. Those areas where oil is farmer should be the most developed and advanced in Nigeria.

Im going to divert the topic slighlty.

I agree that most guys will do something sexual with a girl before marrying her they want to test drive. I have also noticed that a lot of people getting married nowadays are already pregnant! What happened to having sex for the first time on your wedding night? It seems now our nigerian men want to make sure that, not only can he have sex with a girl but that she can also get pregnant before they marry her.

Let me re-interate what I am trying to say.

Theres a few people here dissing foreign countries.  And my point is you do not bite the hand that feeds you.  The type of opportunities that are open to you here in the UK are not present in Nigeria.  The level of education in Nigeria I would say is HIGHER than the west because people read more than one topic like TOH saying  a engineer becoming a banker!  But where does that get you?  The people who are doing well in Nigeria I suggest you investigate properly.

It is more then likely to be one of many reasons

1) They have connections to people in power

2) The come from a rich family

3) They have worked aboard and have now come home to invest.

4) They have committed 419 crime to raise some capital


Look our greedy leaders do not make it easy for us to progress thats why people need to go aboard and work like dogs.  When Nigerias see people from aboard they think they must be living the high life and sweeping gold from the streets.  Thats why I said to the person who started the topic that now she ca return home and tell people that actually theres no gold on the streets and some people are actually working hard!
