naijalander:That question brings me to what I told you earlier: talk to your fellow Nigerians to stop damaging the reputation of Nigeria. If you channel the energy you are using on this thread to bring down Kenya towards making Nigerians better citizens, your countrymen will get better treatment in the international arena. You can open a thread and talk to them. Some of the people selling drugs, defrauding others, etc could be on this forum. With such a thread you could make someone change their mind about commiting crimes. It starts with one person. You could be that person who will help to clean the image of Nigeria outside. 3 Likes |

naijalander:You know you should pity your fellow Nigerians coz I don't need pity. Perhaps you should try talking to them to stop spoiling the reputation of Nigeria outside. Am saying this with good heart. Because last year I tried linking a Nigerian who has a legitimate company in Nigeria with a big company in another country, but the outcome was negative because those people could not trust the Nigerian. Try to improve your country and country men and women for the future generations. I won't continue arguing with you because it's not adding any value to my life. And no, am not jobless. And I impact people's lives in the real world |

naijalander: Oh please! Spare me that. You do more harm than defend Kenya. Why? Because when people who don't know Kenya read what you write online , they take it to be true. It doesn't matter whether South Africa's economy is white or black owned. Why? It's blacks who work on those farms and mines. So they work, get a salary and cater for their needs/families. When a water melon is bought from Shoprite Ibadan, the money doesn't go to a farmer's pocket somewhere in Ogun state or even Imo. It goes to the pocket of a South African farmer. Even the profit made by Shoprite goes back to SA. Lol @ more objective than me From your arguments I can see that you are indeed more objective than me. Go research the meaning of being objective 3 Likes |

I don't speak or understand Kenyan" I just shook my head. I was like this boy doesn't even know there's no language called 'Kenyan' despite living in Kenya for 6 months. It's Kiswahili. |

Kenyanstar:Don't mind that guy. If he still lives in Kenya after all the negative things he's written about Kenya on Nairaland, he should be embarrassed. He is one of those people who blindly sing "giant of Africa" even when everyone else sees the giant has nothing special to offer. Why don't South Africans insult other people the way some Nigerians do yet SA is the most developed country in sub-Saharan Africa? If Nigeria is the giant of Africa, then what do we call South Africa? To those guys blindly defending the giant, accept where other countries do better than Nigeria. Then work towards making Nigeria better. Otherwise, if you continue defending blindly, you will not see the need to improve Nigeria. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Kenyanstar: Acha nicheke To me, the most important thing is the quality of life led by ordinary citizens. And as far as am concerned, ordinary Kenyans live better lives than ordinary Nigerians. So all the defence about 'the giant of Africa' which has now graduated to 'dormant giant ' or Lagos having greater GDP than the whole of Kenya doesn't matter. 2 Likes |

Bifwoli:Karibu sana It's true.... most stories about "Kenya" some of which happen in Nigeria but are labeled Kenya are aimed at portraying Kenya in bad light . The world is so small...thanks to the internet. You know what people fail to understand is that whatever they post here is read by people from different parts of the world and some people can take it personal. Tomorrow a Nigerian might be treated unfairly because someone read a comment on Nairaland and caught feelings. |

Some people on this forum come off as being totally ignorant of international issues and other countries. If you were not taught in school, it's okay. Google is free. Read and appreciate other countries. In Kenyan schools (right from primary school), children are taught about other countries. By the time a kid finishes primary school, he/she knows about the whole of Africa. -He/she knows about cocoa in Ghana, Gold in South Africa, Egyptian pyramids, the African Union, all regional organisations in Africa like COMESA & ECOWAS, petroleum in Nigeria, the system of government in Swaziland, pygmies in Congo, etc That's why you see some people saying "Kenyans know a lot about us. We are the giants of Africa. They are interested in us, etc" So wrong! Kenyans know a lot about Africa and the world, so it's not that they are interested in the giant. They can tell you about the Zulu, Yoruba, Ashanti, etc So read and stop saying "I thought Kenya was a bush with roaming animals!" Or "I don't know where Kenya is on the map" or "Ordinary Kenya" What you call "ordinary" has running systems. There's NO excuse for being ignorant. A quick Google search will show you that Kenyans don't live on trees! Stop celebrating ignorance 3 Likes |

Why are people on this forum so obsessed with Kenya? Even when something happens in Nigeria, they still insist it's Kenya As others have said there's no Shoprite in Kenya. Lemme remind the 'saints' that the following events happened in Nigeria this week and I haven't seen Kenyans dissing Nigerians. 1. The Nigerian Central Bank governor's wife was kidnapped ...this is not something to be proud of. 2. Maggots were coming from the private parts of a lady somewhere in Ogun state....from the comments, she was used for money rituals. Can you imagine living somewhere where you can easily be used for money rituals...scary!! 3. A Nigerian father was raping/sleeping with his 15 year old daughter. That's incest! Not something to be proud of. Those stories were on Nairaland front page. So as you type "only in Kenya" remember that worse things are happening in Nigeria than in Kenya. -Also remember there are higher chances of someone who lives in Nigeria to be kidnapped than someone who lives in Kenya. -There are higher chances of someone who lives in Nigeria to be used for money rituals than someone who lives in Kenya. -There is a higher chance of someone who lives in Nigeria to be defrauded than someone who lives in Kenya -Someone who holds a Kenyan passport might be treated in a good way while someone who holds a Nigerian passport might be treated unfairly. 3 Likes |

Kenyanna:Are you for real? Did you learn about patriotism in school? What have you gained from making some Kenyans look bad? You even had to bring regions (which I would interpret in relation to tribes) into the picture? It's people like you that make some people on this forum despise Kenya/Kenyans. The regional ish wasn't necessary...after all, when people look at you, they see you as a Kenyan. They won't know whether you come from Central or Western. Even if you come from the moon, they will look at you as a Kenyan. 3 Likes |

By the time you pay for your air ticket and other logistics you will be left with little, maybe enough to pay one month's rent. What will you eat? How do you intend to make money? Business or work? ThunderingHooves:What a shame! Imagine the amount of ignorance and hate he's exhibited in his posts. It's funny how he reasons like a 19th century colonists. Did you see him saying that the worst Nigerian is better than the best Kenyan...if he's supposedly exposed, what would those in the village say? How can the worst Nigerian be better than the best Kenyan when: - I haven't seen Kenyan students begging online for school fees, whereas that is a common thing in Nigerian. So many people begging for fees, even on this forum. -patients without money are not attended to in Nigerian hospitals, but in Kenya you are treated first before you pay Given the 2 examples, if you are in Kenya, you can get educated easily and treated in case yiu you are sick. So who is better than who? The thing that misleads some people is "the giant of Africa". A country like South Africa is very developed and it will take Nigeria several years to get there, but I don't see South Africans insulting other people. 3 Likes |

numericalguy:If that were the case, I'd have said that Nigerians are ritualists, fraudsters, etc. But I can't generalise because I know that every society has a few bad people. The same cannot be said about many people on this forum who think that all Kenyans are poor and hungry and that Kenya is underdeveloped. That's why some people think that what I wrote about Kenya can only be found in Europe. Why? Because they only think negative things about Kenya. Some people are getting defensive and abusive here because they have realised that Kenya is way better than they thought. Anyway, the aim of my post was to shed light about Kenya and give a clear picture. Whether Nigeria is the giant of Africa or not is not the issue here. 5 Likes |
