BusinessRe: CBN Floats The Naira, The Implications For You And I by lafuria1(m): 5:00pm On Jun 15, 2016
Nuahall2k14:
Thanx.. But Will d CBN put up a ceiling to d exchange rate d bank will adopt? .
No they won't because it will end up creating a parallel market which will defeat the goal of floating.

The fear is the banks can decide to sell at 500 naira to a dollar but you see the fixed rate of 199 naira per dollar didn't stop the rate to go as high as 350 naira per dollar. Nevertheless, there are guidelines to mitigate against greed stoping the banks from exploiting the system.

The one major reason we are floating is because our reserve is going down and we can't keep depleting the reserve to fix the naira, and as you can see its not working, the black market are winning. We are no more getting dollars as we usually are due to fall in oil prices.

Fingers cross to see how the banks and BDC react when the policy kicks in on Monday. I'm curious as to how much CBN will sell to banks or let me say how will banks source for forex.
BusinessRe: CBN Floats The Naira, The Implications For You And I by lafuria1(m): 4:09pm On Jun 15, 2016
Nuahall2k14:
How much Will banks then be charging wen one is withdrawing from ATM abroad. Which xchange rate Will they be using?
Each bank will tell you, by Monday we will know, the good thing is no difference between the bank and the aboki BDC, you probably will go to where it's cheaper. No short term benefits now, long term is Naira will be stable and might come down because some might decide to sell their dollars cheaper, competition for customers.

The policy is aimed at saving the economy in general at this moment and not to make the exchange rate go down immediately.
BusinessRe: CBN New Forex Rate Policy Announced by lafuria1(m): 3:50pm On Jun 15, 2016
doyinisaac:
First of all you are pathetically and senselessly rude...now idiot let me school you,the "market driven " force was already in place after the last cbn announcement before now,so what is new about this??fool....what came about the parallel rate in the first place??was the rate created by itself without demand and supply??
What is simply new is that they won't be anything like black market or parallel market and cbn official rate.
The cbn official rate was 199 naira to a dollar which is fixed and not market determine by supply and demand. what that meant is that some get to by dollars at 199 while does who can't buy it 350 from BDC. With this new policy, no more such, one single exchange rate, one single market,

Parallel market is as a result of the fixed rate policy.
This floating policy is way different from the existing policy we have been using.

Please, shut it. Why not check my post history before spewing trash. You Muslims are the most intolerant people I've met in all my life. why would they were hijab to school? This is not a school where you study Arabics or Islamic studies. it is a school for all. If you want wear your ninja outfit, you can as well stay out of school. Nobody will disturb you if you wear it to your ile kewu. Why is it okay for them to wear hijab, but wrong for the xtian and traditional worshippers to wear their own outfit too?
Terrorist, please bounce off!
Hahaha, did the Muslim stop the Christians from dressing their children in the lords way, I ask again did the Muslim insist Christians shouldn't dress the way their religion asked them too?
It's the tolerant Christians like you who don't want Muslim to wear hijab to school becausehuh
I'm thinking, even in the Christian faith schools, they wear school uniforms not church robes, you guys like disobeying God, too bad.
EducationRe: Osun Students Appear In Church Garments by lafuria1(m): 12:29pm On Jun 14, 2016
The Muslims obviously don't care, they are not complaining, so why the whole fuss, if it's part of their religion, no problem

Let's see who will last. The Muslim wear hijab because it's part of their religion, mandatory on them, while the Christians children are forced to wear what they don't even wear to church to spite the Muslim, lol.

Its just a normal thing every individual on social media has to face.
One must be ever ready to face the war of words cos of individual differences and levels of understanding among users, while you may mean create a little bit of humor in your post others might see it as an attack on them and funny enough its every where don't come and quote that "its 9ja thing"

Only cowards delete their account cos of exchange of wars online.
War of words is different from direct insult and false allegations. We have people called trolls, all they do is insult and make mean comments about people who were just minding their business.

How would you feel if a total stranger comes and says you are a popular thief in university hostel, or well known runs girl on badoo? Would you find it funny?

We have debate online just like here on nairaland, it does get heated which is OK but for someone to make it their work to start accusing people of bad things is unacceptable, they are best ignored.

Anyway, both account are still active on Instagram, the report of one them deactivating their account is false.

It's not Total staffs point of correction. Actually it's one of their contractor that work with them(A security company). Most of them their jobs were terminated for a while here in Lagos & abuja. So they learnt that their colleagues in Abuja has received there own payments. From what I learnt someone or their company is hold their own payments. So they came to Total office in lagos to protest which is a good one. now they are going to fish out they person that is holding their payments.
I agree with you, makes sense. Total won't never sack their own staffs and not pay them severance package.

You have no experience in the oil sector, easy to be shouting anyhow.

Sweetlemon:
If I got the information correctly, the bulk of the funds for the clean-up is not meant to come from FG but from the polluters. FG has just flagged off the program, definitely perhaps when Buhari is back or when work implementation of the budget really kicks off, FG will source for their own part of the funds. So why the hullabaloo from Shell? Why the hurry? Something is def wrong somewhere.
The news is fake, the source is local online blog, international version is the UK Telegraph, here we have telegram.
Secondly, I find it odd adding news of timi dakolo not attending an event to a serious issue of pulling out.
The clean up is solely the oil company responsiblity, the planning and all, FG provides the enabling environment.

I searched for other sources, I was directed back to nairaland here, even the source doesn't come before nairaland, lol.

ignoring first class students is understandable but celebrating the best graduating student is a tradition in every educational institution
I agree, she happens to a 12/13 graduating set, what of 13/14, 14/15 best graduating student, where they celebrated or ignored too,
It's unfortunate she wasn't celebrated but making it look like she was targeted is what I dont agree too.
EducationRe: Stella Chinelo Emelife: UDUS Best Graduating Student And Injustice by lafuria1(m): 12:45pm On May 26, 2016
I'm curious, was she the only one that made first class in the whole of sokoto and got ignored, where others supposedly indigine who earned first class celebrated and offered employment and she was ignored? I only see injustice if she was ignored and others celebrated but so far only injustice I see the op is pointing out she was ignored because of tribal difference which of course is very lame.

The unilag graduate thats being celebrated is because he earned 5.00 cgpa, where those who earned 4.90 cgpa celebrated too? No.

Before you jump to conclusions, ask if she was the only one ignored, if no, then the school authorities need to be asked why it didn't celebrate its first class students.
PoliticsRe: Niger Delta Avengers: Exxon Shuts Down Oil Operations by lafuria1(m): 7:13pm On May 13, 2016
Hengineer:
The last time I checked, the oil money in Nigeria is shared and consumed by the rich (irrespective of tribe or religion or political links) even whilst the poor continue to wallow in their poverty; it has always been a Rich vs Poor battle, but divisive politicians have succeeded in brainwashing the ever gullible, educated but illiterate masses to think this has anything to do with tribe.

Now from your comment, I assume you are from either the SE or the SS? and i assume you are happy about the crippling of the oil industry because you believe this would deprive fulanis and yorubas who presumably take all the gains from the industry?

First of all, it is quite ignorant to assume that the 2 tribes you mentioned are the biggest gainers from the oil industry; the last time I checked, the 3 big Nigerian tribes are ably represented in the feast table where Nigeria's resources are shared from regime to regime. Being ignorant of this fact is the first evidence of an unfortunate mass tribal brainwash.

Secondly, the microscopic few elite of these big tribes (and also minority tribes) who may own oil blocks and who feed fattest from the oil industry, these people make up less than 0.000001% of the population and even if the conduit is cut-off, these microscopic few elite already have enough to last them 3 lifetimes. Now who are the real victims if you kill the oil industry?... The real victims are the millions of ordinary people closest to facilities and the offices. If you've ever been to or lived in an oil city like Warri or PH, you would understand how over 90% of the population of these towns directly and indirectly feed off the oil industry; bus drivers, okada men, hotel owners, mama-put owners, security men, caterers, even ashawos and to the direct staff and contractors of these companies.

Someone who has lived in a city like warri before and after the exit of a giant like Shell can testify to the colossal impact of these companies on the livelihoods of millions of people who make up the population of these cities. Only an ignorant fellow would think the main victims of a destruction of the industry would be the microscopic few elites from faraway who own blocks and who have already secured 3 lifetimes.
God bless you for this, to people rejoicing, it's all politics of bitterness. I grew up in Warri as a northern, I left there 2006, few years after I was told she'll had moved offshore, I was heartbroken, I knew what Warri would turn next, my old classmates all tell me, guy money no dey Warri again, shell don move.
I was in eket last year, I stayed in one hotel, I saw about 8 big hotels for a small town as eket akwa ibom state, the hotel manager said its because of ExxonMobil if not there won't be patronage.
No contract can be executed in eket by any contractor without taking a percentage of community workers, its a must. I'm sure those community workers would pray nothing happens to ExxonMobil because they need money. If ExxonMobil goes where do they start from.
There is always community issues in eket against ExxonMobil but it doesn't degenerate to violence, what they do is protest and stop ExxonMobil from working, after a week, they resolve and life continues.

The family is not been honest on what they really want. I watched the movie captain Philips, it was about a true life events of Somalian pirates who took an American captain hostage, real names were maintained, Captain Philips in real event was same captain Philips in the movie, like wise the hostage taker muse,

Also not everything was one hundred percent correct, they adjust some events but overall the maintained the main story.
Is either the family don't want the movie at all or they want, not all this Grammar they are speaking.

@Docmann, in a civilized country, your IP would have been traced and you would have been apprehended and thrown in Jail to rot there.
One, you drugged a persons drink without knowledge of her body make up/how she reacts to drugs, what if she took the drink and died in her sleep?
Two, you drew a persons blood without consent and then proceeded to carry out a very sensitive test without first seeking consent..you DO NOT have the right to seek or divulge a thirds party HIV status without their consent.

See, I know you are in Nigeria and so many sh!ts fly, I think women should begin to get more education as regards basic rights before getting in a relationship with you folks out there?

On the flip side, you decided to help a friend? Is your friend missing some chromosomes that he can't take decisions for himself. If his sexual orientation is different from that of his partner, what stopped him from walking away? What stopped him from asking the girls permission for the instant home-test and if she refused, he ends the relationship!

You guys never cease to amaze me, so coz you live in a lawless country, you suddenly feel you have the right to drug people, draw their blood and carry out tests on them.. wow!

Cc Roland4lif I dunno why you haven't commented on the Ops actions, you support him huh?
Cc Docmann, something else will surely kill your spineless friend one day if not pre-marital sex cos we will all die eventually and YOU MUST keep violating people to save him okay.
Cc Seun, people drug women and then post the details on your forum. What a wasted generation and a wasted country.
The ONLY reason you wrote all what you have written is because the hiv infested being is a female, So you feel personally attacked. I'm sure the the hiv infested lady isn't as angry as you are. I'm sure if the reverse was the the case, a man being hiv positive, you would have excused the way the result was taken.
Anyway the girl can press charges for being drugged while the guy can press charges for attempted murder. People have been sent to jail for deliberately infecting other people with hiv. In the lawful country you mentioned, it is a crime to infect someone with hiv, a man in the UK was sentenced to 3 years in prison for infecting his girlfriend.
So in the end maybe, the doc loses his license, the girl goes to jail or at least the world knows she is hiv positive and so everyone should stay clear.
CrimeRe: Beware! New Mode Of Robbery In Lagos. by lafuria1(m): 8:36am On Dec 28, 2015
If our banks are serious, they can be caught, electronic transactions are traceable. Or at least their account blocked and whoever comes to unblock it gets arrested.
And if the money is till in the account, it can be refunded to the owners.

A similar incident happened in where o live in Lagos in an estate. The estate had am atm machine. So the thieves went to a particular flat, asked the tenant to bring her atm, asked for the pin and told her they were going to withdraw money from the atm machine close by and should the pin not work, they were coming to kill her. They divide themselves, one group went to withdraw and the other group took the tenant hostage till the other group come back.
