Nuahall2k14:No they won't because it will end up creating a parallel market which will defeat the goal of floating. The fear is the banks can decide to sell at 500 naira to a dollar but you see the fixed rate of 199 naira per dollar didn't stop the rate to go as high as 350 naira per dollar. Nevertheless, there are guidelines to mitigate against greed stoping the banks from exploiting the system. The one major reason we are floating is because our reserve is going down and we can't keep depleting the reserve to fix the naira, and as you can see its not working, the black market are winning. We are no more getting dollars as we usually are due to fall in oil prices. Fingers cross to see how the banks and BDC react when the policy kicks in on Monday. I'm curious as to how much CBN will sell to banks or let me say how will banks source for forex. |
Nuahall2k14:Each bank will tell you, by Monday we will know, the good thing is no difference between the bank and the aboki BDC, you probably will go to where it's cheaper. No short term benefits now, long term is Naira will be stable and might come down because some might decide to sell their dollars cheaper, competition for customers. The policy is aimed at saving the economy in general at this moment and not to make the exchange rate go down immediately. |
doyinisaac:What is simply new is that they won't be anything like black market or parallel market and cbn official rate. The cbn official rate was 199 naira to a dollar which is fixed and not market determine by supply and demand. what that meant is that some get to by dollars at 199 while does who can't buy it 350 from BDC. With this new policy, no more such, one single exchange rate, one single market, Parallel market is as a result of the fixed rate policy. This floating policy is way different from the existing policy we have been using. |
Lol, when they've lost, they start pointing fingers |
Alokendra:Hahaha, did the Muslim stop the Christians from dressing their children in the lords way, I ask again did the Muslim insist Christians shouldn't dress the way their religion asked them too? It's the tolerant Christians like you who don't want Muslim to wear hijab to school because I'm thinking, even in the Christian faith schools, they wear school uniforms not church robes, you guys like disobeying God, too bad. |
The Muslims obviously don't care, they are not complaining, so why the whole fuss, if it's part of their religion, no problem Let's see who will last. The Muslim wear hijab because it's part of their religion, mandatory on them, while the Christians children are forced to wear what they don't even wear to church to spite the Muslim, lol. |
Cherishing:War of words is different from direct insult and false allegations. We have people called trolls, all they do is insult and make mean comments about people who were just minding their business. How would you feel if a total stranger comes and says you are a popular thief in university hostel, or well known runs girl on badoo? Would you find it funny? We have debate online just like here on nairaland, it does get heated which is OK but for someone to make it their work to start accusing people of bad things is unacceptable, they are best ignored. Anyway, both account are still active on Instagram, the report of one them deactivating their account is false. |
I'm always very careful believing all this, so I searched for the topic on Facebook, The post is deception, it isn't a photoshop. The guy edited his December post and added all those information Making it look like he rightly predicted those events. |
Not significant enough. |
stmark45:I agree with you, makes sense. Total won't never sack their own staffs and not pay them severance package. |
Im so disappointed in nairaland, this piece of trash has been circulating the Internet since before the last general election. FBI have no business whatsoever with what is in a foreigners account in any country. |
I miss read tithes to something different, never mind. |
booblacain:Will the electrical engineer source for fund to build power stations? Will the electrical engineer stop the bombing of pipeline for gas supply, management team don't need specialist, fashola job is to create the environment for the private companies holding power to do their job well, Anyway I don't have issue with the message, power hasn't improved as we thought it would. I have problem with the messenger. |
Shehu sani us just playing stupid politics for show off that he represents the people, I dare him to openly criticize buhari, he won't because the people he is trying to impress won't like it. He is so irritating, criticizing everything without suggesting anything else. |
989900:Bros I join you laugh, hahaha Hahaha, Hahaha, since 1914, hahaha, Goes to show how much they are willing to deceive themselves. |
ahaika23:You have no experience in the oil sector, easy to be shouting anyhow. You have the well, how do you drill it, take it into a vessel, transport for storage and sell it to buyers. Just tell me one indigenous company that does exploration on a massive scale, all you do is bust pipeline and steal crude to go and refine. Oil no be corn Wai you go fit sell for road side. You will suffersuffer because you don't have the money, the brain, the experience, the facilities, to drill oil from just one oil well, you simply can't, If you think na beans why nnpc no do am, |
iflywithbuhari:Hahaha, the right statement should be, as long Niger delta people become jobless and frustrated everything will be fine. Over 70 percent of the workforce in these oil companies are from the Niger delta, go ask warri people how far since shell left, hahaha,. Yea the government will suffer but collateral damage also includes the Niger delta people, keep deceiving yourself that na only hausa people go suffer. |
ahaika23:Hahaha, right, the suffering is always a repeated line, you chose suffering because you prefer money over real infrastructure, you call it deve isn't it? You get back your oil, great, but who is gonna invest, the same oil companies you are blowing up their facilities, lol, who will fix the blown up pipeline, you people abi, ask yourself why are they oil companies headquarters not in Niger delta but Lagos because you people can never guarantee security. |
chanezzar0world:It's only jobless Niger delta that are supporting the activities of this boys. I know a lot of niger delta people working as contractors for some of this out companies, they are not happy at all, they don't like buhari for sure, but they seriously hate what this boys are doing. You are very about port Harcourt issue. Even before the avengers started, people were losing jobs, due to short fall in oil price globally, I know a friend who now survives doing taxi work, and other numerous example, the avengers activities are going to make things worse, I wish I could talk more, but no point. The kind of thinking in support of the avengers actions is just unbelievable. |
No news here, normal thing, we making this sound as if it's just happening this year. |
Sweetlemon:The news is fake, the source is local online blog, international version is the UK Telegraph, here we have telegram. Secondly, I find it odd adding news of timi dakolo not attending an event to a serious issue of pulling out. The clean up is solely the oil company responsiblity, the planning and all, FG provides the enabling environment. I searched for other sources, I was directed back to nairaland here, even the source doesn't come before nairaland, lol. |
Ikennablue:I agree, she happens to a 12/13 graduating set, what of 13/14, 14/15 best graduating student, where they celebrated or ignored too, It's unfortunate she wasn't celebrated but making it look like she was targeted is what I dont agree too. |
I'm curious, was she the only one that made first class in the whole of sokoto and got ignored, where others supposedly indigine who earned first class celebrated and offered employment and she was ignored? I only see injustice if she was ignored and others celebrated but so far only injustice I see the op is pointing out she was ignored because of tribal difference which of course is very lame. The unilag graduate thats being celebrated is because he earned 5.00 cgpa, where those who earned 4.90 cgpa celebrated too? No. Before you jump to conclusions, ask if she was the only one ignored, if no, then the school authorities need to be asked why it didn't celebrate its first class students. |
Hengineer:God bless you for this, to people rejoicing, it's all politics of bitterness. I grew up in Warri as a northern, I left there 2006, few years after I was told she'll had moved offshore, I was heartbroken, I knew what Warri would turn next, my old classmates all tell me, guy money no dey Warri again, shell don move. I was in eket last year, I stayed in one hotel, I saw about 8 big hotels for a small town as eket akwa ibom state, the hotel manager said its because of ExxonMobil if not there won't be patronage. No contract can be executed in eket by any contractor without taking a percentage of community workers, its a must. I'm sure those community workers would pray nothing happens to ExxonMobil because they need money. If ExxonMobil goes where do they start from. There is always community issues in eket against ExxonMobil but it doesn't degenerate to violence, what they do is protest and stop ExxonMobil from working, after a week, they resolve and life continues. |
Hahahahaa |
The family is not been honest on what they really want. I watched the movie captain Philips, it was about a true life events of Somalian pirates who took an American captain hostage, real names were maintained, Captain Philips in real event was same captain Philips in the movie, like wise the hostage taker muse, Also not everything was one hundred percent correct, they adjust some events but overall the maintained the main story. Is either the family don't want the movie at all or they want, not all this Grammar they are speaking. |
Tamee:The ONLY reason you wrote all what you have written is because the hiv infested being is a female, So you feel personally attacked. I'm sure the the hiv infested lady isn't as angry as you are. I'm sure if the reverse was the the case, a man being hiv positive, you would have excused the way the result was taken. Anyway the girl can press charges for being drugged while the guy can press charges for attempted murder. People have been sent to jail for deliberately infecting other people with hiv. In the lawful country you mentioned, it is a crime to infect someone with hiv, a man in the UK was sentenced to 3 years in prison for infecting his girlfriend. So in the end maybe, the doc loses his license, the girl goes to jail or at least the world knows she is hiv positive and so everyone should stay clear. |
If our banks are serious, they can be caught, electronic transactions are traceable. Or at least their account blocked and whoever comes to unblock it gets arrested. And if the money is till in the account, it can be refunded to the owners. A similar incident happened in where o live in Lagos in an estate. The estate had am atm machine. So the thieves went to a particular flat, asked the tenant to bring her atm, asked for the pin and told her they were going to withdraw money from the atm machine close by and should the pin not work, they were coming to kill her. They divide themselves, one group went to withdraw and the other group took the tenant hostage till the other group come back. |
hahn:Exactly, most rape victims are scared of having sex, but in these case, it was party and beating but still went back claiming love, so what point did she realized it was rape, when they stopped? I just don't get it |
Please ask buhari about more important question, our economy, unemployment, insecurities, that's my problem o. |
Rubbish, when mourinho made Chelsea a successful team, he didn't have pride Abi, it's now that he is facing tough times you remember his pride. |
misspicy:I'm only commenting because I wished I saw this advice before my former girl went to paint me black infront of her parents and claimed she didn't do anything. She kept on lying that I was the problem. I had my own fault but I expected her to say the whole story. From experience too, he should talk first o, that way he can leave in peace or else they will accuse the guy of irresponsibility and waste of their daughters time. |
